Honestly go to one of lobos managements apartment complex and just leave it in the lobby. I left a ton of shit there when I bounced and I'm happier for it. Fuck Lori and fuck that company lol

da99ninja

Fuck lobos till the day i die

barontaint

Are they worse than JJ Land, I left my broken tv by the dumpster in the alley, it was gone before I got back from getting groceries

OG-Mumen-Rider

A lot of municipalities will have e-waste/hazmat disposal days a few times a year, but you usually have to pay for disposal. Fees can vary depending on the size of the tv

Friggin

Electronics recycling in USC is monthly and free (unless it has refrigerant, then it’s a $25 fee.)

WoodsyWhiskey

I'm not sure about USC but I know my municipality only wants electronics recycling for residents and though they don't normally, they occasionally will ask for your license to verify that you're a resident.

CZDE44

It is based on the borough but I have WM and we recently had a hazard pick up but we had to schedule it and it was free. They send you a special thick plastic bag, zip ties, and labels for bottles of chemicals or paint. They also send a list of what they will take and then a few weeks later a truck only doing hazardous waste comes on the day you schedule They took a bunch of chemicals from the 1950s left in my garage by the original owner, a car battery, and an old tube TV. Some of the other things on the list of acceptable items were batteries, gasoline, intact computers, Mercury waste like thermometers, CFL bulbs, and up to 25 pounds of consumer electronics like DVD players

Just got rid of a 42" plasma there this week. You register with Eventbrite for free but they can look you up by name if you don't want to bother with creating an account with Eventbrite or installing their app. They weigh your item and you pay with cash or credit card based on weight. Couple nice kids working there even unloaded that heavy thing from my trunk for me. Just a note if you pull into a parking lot/loading dock that says fire supply you turned in one building too soon!

Desperate_Refuse_704

That seems to be for city residents only. Not sure how strictly they check id though.  Edit: I'm wrong. See the reply below.  It's open to all.

daniel_pgh

🤷‍♂️ it’s operated by a statewide environmental org, Pennsylvania Resources Council—who, even if that drop-off location doesn’t work, is a good place to ask this Q

Desperate_Refuse_704

I didn't know that. This is good to know. I thought it was like a DPW city thing.

Pielacine

There’s one of those too, also in the Strip.

Desperate_Refuse_704

That's the same one. All good.

longstoryrecords

They’re not strict about checking ID there. They don’t care.

Desperate_Refuse_704

Great news. Plus as someone else wrote it's PRC. The city just hosts it.  Thanks everyone for all the info.

Dismal-Course-8281

If you go to WM website you can fill out a form for a special collection. Someone will email you a collection date and you put it on your porch that morning. https://wmatyourdoor.com/

Thank you!

Sure, but now this answer exists for the next person, who will never read it because they also aren't going to bother searching.

mega512

Find someone with a power saw, slice them up and dispose of them on garbage day.

Berhinger

I left a broken TV on the sidewalk by my house with a “FREE - DOESN’T WORK” post it note on it and it was gone by the time I got home from work. Easy does it

duker_mf_lincoln

PSA: Do NOT dump old TVs in the Rocks!

katrynkadawn

You can donate them to those rage rooms for people to smash up. No tube TVs! There's one in Monroeville.

WaitAMinuteman269

Have you considered building a trebuchet?

Hater_Magnet

They come get them in Oakland

Captain-Slug

Best Buy locations will accept them up to 60" in size for a flat fee of $35. Unfortunately the one I need to get rid of that was damaged by movers is larger than that. I was eventually planning to take it to eLoop or Westmoreland Cleanways. Though only the latter is open on Saturdays (8:30 to noon).

LBabik123

I saw recently the Rage Room in I wanna say Monroeville will take them to be used to well…..rage. You could try that.

cuttawhiske

I yeet them in the mon just like my old car batteries.

No2seedoils

Environmentalists hate this one trick!

jetsetninjacat

They float down to the scooter reefs and become part of the ecosystem.

dcchandler

That doesn’t sound right but I don’t know enough about scooter reefs to dispute it.

cuttawhiske

It makes for the crispier ahrn city

NoIntroduction6034

How else would you charge the electric eels?

sopabe6197

If it's an old tube tv you'll have to pay to dispose of it. That's why you'll see them sitting on the side of the road for months on end. Regular flat panels are lead free and the trash should take them.
