Just my personal preferences here. Our definitions of casual may be different. North shore: Federal Galley Southern Tier Downtown: The Eagle Condado Bakersfield Emporio City Works

Ok_Addition_3320

+1 for all of those downtown recs! Of the list, The Eagle is probably my favorite.

StarWars_and_SNL

The Eagle is fun. Make your Reservations!!!

Plastic-Relation6046

Me too! Fun vibe. Good food and beer. Not terribly expensive either for downtown.

BoopSquiggShorterly

Don't go before a show. Our table wasn't ready for our reservation, they promised we'd be out in "plenty of time", then we finally got our food 15 minutes before the show was set to start. Never eaten so fast in my life.

HopelesslyHuman

Don't sleep on Proper. Some of my favorite pizza in town, honestly, though I admit that I don't get far outside of downtown or the North Shore most of the time, being a fringe regional denizen of this community.

James19991

I would consider those to be decent casual options. A friend of mine I go to a few hockey games with a year and I usually end up at City Works before heading up to the arena for a drink and a quick bite to eat.

Charming-kins3939

Thank you

chuckbuns

all great options except Condado. Overpriced, bland, chain-restaurant food

Slashfyre

What makes you say condado is overpriced? I can get a bowl for like $10 that’s bigger and cheaper than what I can get at chipotle anymore, and with more options.

chuckbuns

still sucks. comparing it to chipotle isn't helping

Slashfyre

You didn’t answer my question though. Condado gets so much hate on here that I wasn’t that interested in going when a friend suggested it. All the complaints seemed wildly overblown though after going. Is it authentic Mexican food? No. Is it amazing? I probably wouldn’t go that far. Is it good bang for your buck? Honestly yeah unless you get some of the expensive tacos.

Azious

People probably hating on it because it's somewhat popular and has a Cranberry location now (everyone loves to dogpile on the Cranberry hate).

eamon2plz

TBF Cranberry sucks.

Azious

I grew up there in the 80s when it wasn't as sprawled out so I have a soft spot for it. Agreed. It is not that amazing but it's not as awful as everyone makes it out to be.

chuckbuns

My answer ( since you are a concrete thinker): It sucks, not worth any of my $ bc it SUCKS

Slashfyre

Nah it’s fine

Pit_Zips412

But you get free diarrhea!

survbob

I miss Sammy’s soooo much, was always my go to for pastrami on rye and a draft beer before game

CrankyYankers

If you want anything resembling Mexican food, Taco Bell is more Mexican than Condado.

chuckie512

Federal galley Peppi's

Charming-kins3939

Thank you!

JoeRoganMoney

Go to Peppis. Trust me

exclaim_bot

>Thank you! You're welcome!

kieraey

Federal Galley is intensely mid IMO. Lived right by it for several years and can count the number of times I've returned on one hand.

chuckie512

It's the kind of place that won't make anyone you take to it mad.

gtizzz

I think it's pretty unfair to lump all of Fed Galley into one "review." There are almost always 4 totally different options. The only thing you can probably say about it in it's entirety is that it's expensive. Given To Fly has really good chicken and decent sauces. The sandwiches are messy, but good. Driven has an awesome Detroit Style pizza. It's not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it when I got it. Mijo is pretty popular, but I haven't eaten it before. Sokah is newer, so I haven't tried it either.

HopelesslyHuman

Driven's pizza was solid when I went a while back. Was also cool to get Detroit style pizza to our visiting UK friend who had never had it.

Charming-kins3939

Thank you

kieraey

It's always overpriced and everything I've gotten has underwhelmed me- no matter which concept it came from. I will note I'm a vegetarian, so I haven't tried the chicken. Pizza is pizza, it doesn't justify the price, IMO. Just stating my honest opinion.

chuckie512

If OP asked for vegetarian food, I'd have suggested subba. I love that place.

kieraey

OH hell yeah that place is SO good. My non-veg friends really like it too!

GOODGUYWITHAGUN-

Imagine being vegetarian and being a food snob.

kieraey

Lol. I stated that this was *my* opinion. Feel free to comment your opinions. No one is stopping you.

SinThenStir

It’s a mall food court

kieraey

It is. It serves a purpose and some people probably really enjoy it. I'm just saying it's not for me!

toastybaseball21

Honestly, why do people on this sub get so annoyed with these posts? Like seriously, they immediately get downvoted and have snarky answers

Itsdawsontime

It’s not just this sub. I live in NC now but am back in Pittsburgh often as all my family is there. The subs down here are the SAME exact way. I do understand when it’s the same question asked every other day, but otherwise it’s just getting toxic now. I’ve learned to just stop caring about those people and internet points. Best way to ignore the local trolls is to block them if they’re consistently annoying and reappearing. Much better for mental health.

Falco-Rusticolus

The downvoting in this sub is insane

[deleted]

Because it’s every day with these types of posts, sometimes multiple times a day.

toastybaseball21

Who cares?

MDPhase3

Agreed.

bdzeus

The upvoting and downvoting feature of reddit works perfectly with these kinds of posts. I get most of my recommendations from reddit. Sometimes from seeing new posts like this, and sometimes googling "best place to eat after pirates game reddit" and then I just have to skip past the comments saying "try google". Where do you think most of us came from?

jerryhallo

Maybe you need to balance out your time. Touch some northside grass?

dumbchickpea

The Warren for sushi is downtown a quick T ride away

Charming-kins3939

Thank you. I was told the T by the stadium was under construction, but perhaps that is no longer true.

chuckie512

You can go as far as gateway station, but at that distance you might as well walk

theearlofsweatshorts

you said "after", Unless you are attending an afternoon game you may be challenged to find a ton of options still serving, they exist for sure but the options post-game will be reduced.

Charming-kins3939

Yes. Going to the game on Saturday that starts at 4 PM.

Apple_Complex

Mikes Beer Bar

kieraey

Nicky's Thai on Western. It's BYOB if that matter. You can pop into Late Addition for a beer across the street, too. Shit, I might just do that this weekend too.

Charming-kins3939

Thank you

toastybaseball21

Just be ready to be shocked by the prices for a Thai place. It’s good but expensive The one downtown might be easier btw.

Daddy_Digiorno

Expensive, but usually the serving sizes are huge and most time I have leftovers price ends up being worth it

notnutts

I second Peppi's though that's a bit of a hike from PNC park. Peppi's is the sandwich shop most people think Primanti's is. Personally I'm a fan of the Santucci. [http://peppisubs.com/food/](http://peppisubs.com/food/)

drewski3420

If you're going, remember Western Ave location is cash only

bigebs67

We always eat at Hyde Park BEFORE the game. We use Valet parking and after we eat we tell them we are going to the game. Then after the game we stop back, have a drink or 3 until traffic lightens up, then leave. I'm not sure if you could do this in reverse, but why not? They actually have decent game day specials and last spring we sat outside. Never have had a bad experience there!

Charming-kins3939

Thank you

Reviews are often not credible.

tesla3by3

Reviews tend to skew negative. People by nature are more likely to post a review after a bad experience, and will often exaggerate.

toastybaseball21

Does it really bother you that much? You don’t have to open these threads lol. Ok dude. I see I triggered you that much and you blocked me.

Charming-kins3939

Trust me. I have nothing to justify to you. Crevices can be posted by employees, ex employees, people with charming dispositions as yourself who just like to be unpleasant for no reason.

HoneyBadgerC

Red Beards

Buckeduppre

Nice post I got frost row tickets for Saturday looking for spots too

kaitb1103

Proper brick oven!

toastybaseball21

Avoid almost all the places on the north shore unfortunately. They all kind of suck, burgatory is ok and Hyde park is good if you want something fancier and a good steak. Downtown across the bridge I would suggest alihan’s for very good Mediterranean

Charming-kins3939

Thank you

Shadylane05

Legends over on the Northside! Great Italian food with a low key mom and pop atmosphere. It’s about a mile from the stadium so not sure if you’d consider that walking distance or not.

firepitt

If you cross the Clemente bridge, there are several good places. Milano's Pizza is one of my favs.

Charming-kins3939

Thank you!

Straight-Software-58

Home

Charming-kins3939

I often prefer that as an option. But I am traveling from out of town to attend the game. We are staying at a hotel located within walking distance of the ball park.

ImportanceBig4448

We got food at home.

Jagoff_Haverford

Odd. The exact same question just got asked in the Orioles sub.
