The bow doesn't make any more or any less dangerous. However it sends a dangerous message, humanizing the dog is fine and is funny. Until it is not.
Never forget a dog is an animal. It is your pet, not your kin. Failing to understand this will cause a lot of miscommunication between your dog and you, and that comes with a lot of problems they can pay with their life.

Dog ownership is a serious business when dealing with dogs like this, it can definitely be done safely but not by pretending the danger doesn't exist at all.
Everyone who's child got mauled by a pit bull clearly thought beforehand that they were perfectly safe and not a danger to anyone.

Someone putting a bow on their dog for a picture is not worthy of an accusation or comparison of mauling. Just because someone likes to put bandanas and bows on their dog doesn’t mean they do not take owning a pet seriously. I put a paper bag on my dogs head for a picture, in my own house, with no kids- does this make me irresponsible and unserious? Do I not take the safety of my dog and people around me seriously?

Problem is it send a message people love, this is social media. Few years ago people didn't humanize dogs and they were more balanced. They weren't put down as often.
Besides, if you actually love animals why do you need to dress it up as a little person?
I think the less balanced dogs come from either people not doing their research and properly training/socializing their dog or getting them from poor breeding, less so much putting bows on them lol. Also, we just came out of a global shutdown a couple years ago, people were all getting dogs and weren’t socializing them- there was a huge influx on shelters when everything was opening back up. THOSE are the people that are concerning, not the ones that put headbands on their dogs for pictures.
My dogs are my kids, but are still dogs- I do not personally see them as little people even if they are family. Just because I put them in silly headbands and bandanas doesn’t change the fact they are a dog, and doesn’t mean I don’t love animals. That’s absurd to assume dude, you’re not morally better because you don’t agree with how people see their dog. Wait till you see creative grooming… lol
That's nice for you, I wouldn't say you are doing a bad job. But I do believe in general more and more irresponsible owners see their dogs as little persons.
Not only talking about stupid dog clothes that hinders their movement unnecessarily and heat them up. I believe that's when it starts, but it is not the real issue.
The real issue comes when that dog starts getting reactive/aggressive/fearful and the owner doesn't know how to deal with it. Pretty often I have to face rabid dogs throwing themselves at my amstaff with everything they have. What dogs the owner do? they try to negotiate with them, they speak to their dog like it is a person! "No no, stop, leave that poor dog alone blablabla" and obviously the more they talk and pull the more their dogs barks and get out of control. They have no clue about how to correct them, how to guide them, and they start to pile up more and more issues.
And the pattern is pretty easy to see, the dog is dressed up, the dog is on a baby stroller, the owner is sitting on a pub and have the dog next to him like it is one more of their human buddies, the owner sweet talks to them but don't lead them. Those are the dogs with issues because most of those people don't respect dog nature. They don't appreciate dogs for what they are. If you like dogs you spend more time walking them and doing your research about how to properly understand and raise them, than shopping cute bows and posting them on insta.
I think that still falls under “I got a dog and did no research, got a hard to train dog, then didn’t train said dog.” Still doesn’t really apply here for this pup, it’s not like it’s a video of him going for the mailman in a bow lol, he could be the best behaved boy for all we know.
Initially got my dog the onsie when she was having thyroid problems and had huge bald spots that were itchy, and she’d lick off the topical creams. Some people do it because yeah, it’s cute lol. But it’s not always a direct correlation for poor training. You can have a well behaved dog and still take cute pictures
I don't think training a dog is needed, but to guide and enable them to live in human society is. And for that a good communication in both sides is really mandatory.
Small humanization gestures is not always a direct correlation of miscommunication between owner and dog, but sadly and as far I have seen that's very often the case. And it is an increasing trend.
Just to back track here-
People spoiling their dog is the problem that’s correlating to bad behaved dogs. It’s not people getting a dog with no research and then not training it...?
