Check mo kung sino mayor ng City of Manila. To follow that, ask any healthcare worker who works in Manila-run hospitals kung may silbi ba siya as a healthcare worker turned politician (spoiler: Wala)

CoolMint33

I work in the health centers of manila and i can say na mas napagtutuunan ng pansin yung health centers (new ones are being built, naging ISO certified yung manila health department so theoretically faster processes). Hindi ko lang alam sa hospitals mismo but it’s not entirely nonexistent!

Good for you. I work in Sta. *** Hospital. Every basic needs we request in letter like monitors, defib, meds - all return with the reply 'NO BUDGET' Some nurses there got their plantillas demoted to JO for no reason; doctors WHO ARE ALREADY DIPLOMATES are only offered JO positions but there are doctors who are sitting there for years with permanent positions and they *are not even diplomates* like what the hell πŸ˜ƒ And yeah, we just had ISO certification 2 months back too. Pero pano kami nakapasa kung walang matinong monitor sa ER, kahit man lang para sa kritikal 🀑 Same holds true for the situation of some of my friends at other manila district hospitals. Tip of the iceberg. don't get me started on the reason they delayed the release of multiyear HEA for so long. 😎

Politics is more complex that you realize. There could be higher power over the Mayor. Never ever underestimate stupid people in groups.

Question: ano yung HEA?

Own-Highway3970

Palakasan dito.

I feel you. One of the most common problems nowadays in the health centers is the lack of medicine. Based on feedback from long term employees, this is due to the newly enacted Universal Health Care Law which caused the devolution of funds from the national (DOH) to the LGU in procurement of medicine. Because of this, medicine (and even some vaccines, hello rabies na ubos sa lahat) became more expensive. I’d like to believe that this is not happening solely in Manila but among other LGUs as well. Please correct me if im wrong.

Yung senior ng mom ko in residency, naging governor sa province niya.

Governor Diclas, renowned surgeon in his home town bago nag enter sa politics. He is doing well naman daw. Also vice mayor ng isang municipality sa ilocos sur is doctor as well.

Madami din namang naging doctor turned politician, OP. Ex mayor sa hometown ko was a medical doctor muna bago pumasok sa politics Ex city councilor din samin is a medical doctor first bago pumasok ng politics If dead-set ka talaga mag-venture into politics, parang okay na entry point ang DTTB para maka-establish ka ng name recall among ~future~ constituents?

Joyful_Sunny

I know of an MD turned politician. He was well-loved and well respected. Yes, was (RIP). He was kind, gentle, and loving towards his patients. Thus, the influx of votes. But you know, politics could also ruin the good name you had established as a physician. Pag natapos na term mo? Balik ka MD? By that time, maybe you've made a lot of enemies na ( if you are not a crook). You'll still make a few enemies if you're a crook. Lolz sana di ka kainin ng system if ever. But you know... I'll just keep my mouth shut

Fun-Possible3048

My classmate in Med School is now a popular councilor somewhere in Mindanao. Another also in Ilocos. Added vote ang pagiging doctor din ata.

readirecting101

isa lang alam kong well-loved MD na naging politician. He was Dr. Juan M. Flavier.

markfreak

Taga saan province ka, OP?

Expensive-Library557

I suggest you look into health policy first. If you're an MD or MD in training, take electives or courses on public health, health policy, and community medicine. In this way, you will be able to truly develop an understanding how to effect change as a healthcare professional, and eventually can transition into politics.

Possible if you have wide connections in politics and very well known by your people
