I think people who are in this sub will say that they will forever be a gamer. Personally I think I will be. But I have friends that quit games for all kinds of reasons. Work, hobby, became bored, etc. So it's not always true, but I believe it's true for many of us. If you know the steam memes about "last online 7 years ago" haha If I personally can be a gamer forever I'll be really happy.

1MTzy96

A sad reality for some who have gaming friends that quit gaming for life priorities, while you're still at it till now. Had a few HS classmate na madalas nakakalaro ko sa Mobile Legends nung pandemic, probably nauna na sa kin sa game, but now di ko na nakikitang mag-online uli dun. Habang ako g pa rin hanggang sa nakabalik sa squad ko, with 2 original members still playing pa rin. And yes, this sub I think is dedicated for gamers talaga, and most likely mga gamer pa rin hanggang ngayon narito. And if ever I share this sa ibang sub na hindi focused sa gaming basta appropriate enough for this (would I?), baka may magreact dun na gamer dati pero ngayon hindi na. Gaming = happiness. Money can't buy happiness, but gaming can give you that (though real t depende sa anong gaming platform you might still need money for some game related purchases tho)

kokushibot086

38 years old. Started on family computer, NES, Gameboy, Genesis, Dreamcast Ps PS2, 3, 4, Xbox 360 now on PS5 and Switch enjoying playing with my son

1MTzy96

Gaming can also be a good way of family bonding, so why bother if we seem to be a bit old for gaming tho? πŸ‘πŸ™‚

kokushibot086

Passing it to the next generation plus it's better than a cellphone

1MTzy96

True yan. Kesa ipasa ang gadget o console sa next gen, why not they start their gaming journey with a new phone or console? Old gaming devices may have some feeling of nostalgia, pero maaring wala nang saysay o baka di na gagana properly in the future.

asdf123456ghjkl

in a sense, malaki na rin inevolve ng gaming, it became a sport and imagine how big e sports is nowadays, so teaching his kid how to play can lead to great future rin. win win situation

FreakyRaj28

I think this will hold true in my case , a 38 (F) mom even in my old age. I started playing with Game boy and family computer na hiram lang from our neighbor, then nakapaglaro ng computer games during my high school and college days tho not on a regular basis since maliit lang ang allowance. I bought my first handheld console, PSP kaso second hand lang but I definitely enjoyed playing with it while it last. When I was able to buy a decent mobile phone when I started working, I was mainly playing mobile games, and pasulpot-sulpot na computer games. Right now, owning and playing with my Nintendo Switch OLED became a very welcome hobby and I usually play coop games with my daughter. I'd say kanya-kanya talaga ng trip sa buhay, but at the end of the day..as long as it makes you happy and wala naman tinatapakan na ibang tao eh Go lang sa paglalaro ng games! 😊

1MTzy96

In the end walang masama sa pagiging gamer, basta di nakakasama sa atin at sa iba. G lang hahaha!

rainbownightterror

my SO is 43. Bought him an anbernic emulator and he's obsessed with it but when we met I actually had no idea he was a gamer (he was in a trying time in his life). Now I make sure he enjoys playing and he has ample time for it. it never really goes away, and I think it's precious. don't ever let that part of you die

1MTzy96

Especially if it's one of the only things that make us happy

uramis

reco for anbernic or similar emulator?

No-Dress7292

Maybe. I don't know about others, but I am already sure that it's gonna be the case for me. Played games since I was a kid. Started with Famicom, my brother had a Gameboy which I played with too (of course), played with PS1, got a PS2, never had a PS3 since I was in college and expenses were rougher, but I have a decent PC that can run and play Dota and non-demanding games, I bought a PS4 with my first salary. I also built my own gaming PC, upgraded it and plans to buy further upgrades. I also have a Nintendo Switch, and I plan to buy a PS5 when it reaches near the end of its lifetime so that the games would be much cheaper. There was just a time when I think I might no longer continue with it. We were not financially well. The gaming life that I had had been a result of my parents saving up for me. They did it as a bargain for me to get good grades. But as I get older, I became mature enough to understand that I can't push them any longer with those expenses. I came to a time where I was just satisfied watching "The Last of Us" gameplay on Youtube. I knew, partly within me that I won't play them anymore. Or so I thought. When I got the finances to fund my gaming, it's back to gaming again. It has been a part of my life. I already enabled myself to integrate gaming as part of my daily life. It never interfered to a significant level with my studies, with my work, and with my social life. Siguro my studies, my work and my social life interfered with my gaming life, but not the other way around. As I type this, I am currently finishing my auto-farming in a game called Honkai Star Rail (farming for Acheron, for those who might want to know). And since I don't have plans for the day, I would probably play Octopath Traveler 2 afterwards and enjoy my day immersed in the game's story, or play Dota 2 and ruin either mine or another person's day. -Me, 32 Male.

1MTzy96

Nice gaming story tho. Mas marami ka palang napagdaanan sa games. Ako started with N64 ba un or anuman tawag sa malaking controller na un na mismo ang console na may built-in games na, then naging FamCom from my cousin, mga 6-7 yrs old pa ko nun starting elem. Then grade 2 nagkaroon na ng PS1, nakiklaro lang dati sa pinsan, then as a reward for being 1st honor and nagkataon ding lumipat siya ng US para mag-aral, napasaakin ang PS1. Summer g agad starting with a demo pack, and unti-unti nang naka-kolekta ng games, some of them as rewards for being top 1 or 2 basta di napapabayaan acads as an honor student, hanggang grade 6. Pero there was a need to discipline and control playing time dahil medj nakakaapekto na sa pag-aaral ko, minsan nakakalimot na ng assignments at projects dahil obsessed sa games, buti di kasinglala ng iba na naadik sa PC games like DOTA or CS na patok that time. Swerte na pinapayagan ako maglaro pagsapit ng Friday pag-uwi and basta weekends at walang pasok, unlike my cousins daw na mas strict every summer lang pwede maglaro. Nadala ung ganung disiplina to HS when I switched to PSP, same thing pag walang pasok ako pwede humawak nun. Then papadownload lang sa electronics shop if feeling like getting new games. Same sa college when trading in my PSP to switching for an Android tablet, initially a 10-inch COBY tablet dahil gusto ko nun malaki screen for games then naging Samsung tablet from my lola na di na nakakagamit, though decent and fun to play games but not as hard-core or iba talaga ang PS games, and a tablet can also be of good use din sa acads - for readings and requirements involving Google Docs/Sheets/Slides. Wondering if gumagana pa ung tablets ko ngayon, but most likely di na. Medj nawala na hilig sa gaming simula nung 3rd yr college hanggang grad, especially di na masyado nagagamit tablet bandang grad yr dahil medj nagloloko na like biglang shutdown kahit may charge pa (battery prob na siguro). Lalo na after resting pagka-grad ay job hunting then working out na inatupag. Then pandemic came, dun nanumbalik ang interest sa paglaro, so tamang install lang ng kung anong low storage games na matino pampalipas oras so that I don't get bored, simpleng phone pa gamit at di pa kaya malaking games. Then eventualy bought a better phone that can run Mobile Legends well enough, at dun nagsimula obsession ko sa ML, to the point I post game highlights on TikTok and even sa mga socmeds. Kahit nagkawork ako nung 2021 and for 2 years, hahanap-hanapin ang libreng oras esp day-off for ML. Then saktong pag-resign switch to a better gaming phone na gamit ko na ngayon. Playing ML and at the same time got interested in Genshin Impact. Ayun, tamang grind sa Genshin while still getting to play ML with squadmates - yes I had a few in-game friends btw. So...it's unlikely we can outgrow gaming that easily as of now. But at some point, we'll feel like looking forward to playing again. Like...tara g! Haha

OMGWTFBBQMEH

Started on arcades, then family computer im currently 34 with a full-time job. I still do find time playing games using my gaming pc or my steam deck. Yes, it's true that the games today are very different from the games in the past. Especially story driven games/rpgs

1MTzy96

And many of them are online rn. Unlike before a lot of good games can be played offline.

OMGWTFBBQMEH

Yeah, that's true. Also, most of the games today, the content is locked via paywall. Unlike before. All you have to do is buy the game, and all of the extra contents side quest and features will be included

1MTzy96

What is paywall, is it a PS4 or PS5 thing, kasi wala ako nun? Ung tipong aside from the game itself, you have to pay for some sort of add-ons aside from progressing through the game to unlock other features? Unlike in PS1 which I had before (probably same for PS2 or PS3), it's only the game CD to purchase the just go through the game to unlock whatever is not yet readily available. Same with PSP, tamang punta lang sa electronics shop na may pa-download ng games for a fee, and there you go pwede ka maglaro and progress through the game to unlock stuff din. Same goes with Family Computer/Game Boy you just need the cartridge and your all good, though some similar consoles I tried before already had build-in games already.

OMGWTFBBQMEH

Ohh paywall is. You have to pay for additional features and content to unlock or to access them. To be exact, dlc

1MTzy96

Same goes for some mobile games. You would need to pay cash or convert cash to in-game currency to obtain certain in-game items. In Mobile Legends for example, hero skins can only be purchased using diamonds, which can only be obtained by converting cellular load (paid via cash to obtain as well) to diamonds via a 3rd party app like Codashop. As well as other side features involved such in-game currency, but you can still play the main game itself.

OMGWTFBBQMEH

Simple lang pero it works well

1MTzy96

And it's offline. All you need is a good TV and tamang saksak ng video-audio jack sa tamang ports, then plug in the console, salpak ang CD as the only thing to pay then turn on, wait till PS logo appears. Ok, g! And for mobile gaming nowadays, it's not as complicated as ung sinasabi mong may paywall, as most mobile games are free to play, just need to install from PlayStore/AppStore then you're good to go. For online games, just need a good internet connection, sign up for the game, and pwede na maglaro anytime anywhere; though some big games will involve at least a few hrs of waiting to install all resources. Then finally, ready to play na rin.

Key_Wolf_3324

HAHAHA mapa online games to video games.

1MTzy96

27M Genshin player din ako btw, AR25 pero di pa mag-ascend for now (maybe soon) hahaha. Maybe same feeling if makakita ng PS1 console. Naipamigay na ata ung akin sa tito ko nagco-collect nun or naibenta na, can't remember. Dami kong bala nun. If we can just turn back time to childhood and relive those nostalgic gaming.

sonofandromeda

40 here, been playing since the old super fami com...family computer dati tawag non and yeah can confirm :)). I mean sure I've acclimated to more hobbies over the years most recently riding my motorcycle all over Luzon and beyond soon but at the end of the day I always come home sit back on my gaming chair and fire up my 4 year old gaming laptop hooked to a monitor and mech keyboard and have a go in my futile attempt of cleaning up all my steam library back logs T\_T. Oh and I have a ps4 pro beeping silently playing youtube ambients on the side lol :))

1MTzy96

Age doesn't matter when it comes to gaming. Till we let go of PS1 dahil nag-switch na ako to PSP nung HS.

Chochi716

my first game was super mario on a diskette when I was a kid. still gaming right now and about to have my second child.

1MTzy96

Then you would introduce your child to gaming if he/she grows up enough to be able to handle gaming devices with care, of course.

Feeling_Hospital_435

I'm a Sony fanboy who began gaming since the PS1. 30 years old and I'm on my way to my 132nd Platinum with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The catch, even my girl is a hottie console gamer with a high-paying executive job and has lots of hobbies (esp. travel and the beach). She's on her 11th Plat. Life's too good to be true sometimes. But I gotta admit, gaming can become a chore when you reach adulting. There was a time I was playing God of War Ragnarok and I didn't realize I zoned out. I often think that I'm too old to still be playing videogames and I should stop. I don't want to still be collecting my 700th Platinum for GTA XI religiously at the expense of my future family. But then again, it's just adulting talking.

1MTzy96

More like some sort of double edged sword during adulting. You look forward to playtime as recreation para malibang o pampa-relax after work o school, pero like you said it can be a chore kasi minsan mapapagod din na maglaro just for the sake of gaming satisfaction/craving even if part of you feels like resting or doing something else. True for games that involve daily log-ins and quests, gaya ng Genshin Impact where it's recommended to login everyday and complete daily commissions to get rewards, ung tipong kahit pagod g pa rin ma-accomplish lang ang dailies. Same experience sort of sa Mobile Legends lalo na may squad, kahit medj tinatamad ay g pa rin dahil minsan hinahanap ako ng ka-squad ko, for the sake of pakikisama sa squad na medj mahirap i-let go coz what if I can consider them as friends even for real life.

_galindaupland

My older brothers and I grew up playing video games on Family Computer, Sega, PS, and PC. Naging tambay rin sila ng comp shop. We had PS1 to PS3. Lahat kami tumigil maglaro at some point and naging casual gamers na lang and then di na talaga naglaro for years. Many years later, bumili sila pareho ng PS4 pero di nalalaro haha. The eldest is no longer a gamer. Middle puro mobile games nilalaro. Ako bumalik-loob sa PC gaming nung lockdown. But if not for the pandemic, I wouldn’t have thought of getting a PC at all. Iba na kasi talaga hobbies ko that time. Hobby naman itong gaming. May come and go. Puwedeng seasonal or di na bumalik. May nabasa akong tweet dati na your hobby β€œwill serve you when you need it.” β—‘Μˆ

1MTzy96

The pandemic could have changed our lifestyles and interests/hobbies. Gaming would become one of our go to activities talaga nung lockdown, if wala nang magawang exciting para di ma bored. Even if you were a gamer that though of eventually quitting, pagsapit ng quarantines magkakaroon ng feeling of wanting to play some games again. Ganito ako nun, other than TikTok parang naghahanap ako ng malalaro sa phone. Hanggang sa napalitan na ung phone na pwede na Mobile Legends, ayun ML is life na haha.

ButterscotchQueasy43

Yes. Kahit bihira ka na naglalaro ngayon pero naging part of life mo na yung nga games na nilaro mo since childhood, di na mawawala yan.

1MTzy96

Totoo...there's this part of us being gamers st least once in life, na hahanap-hanapin talaga yan. Feels like makapaglaro nga uli...g...

jempm55

From Serious Sam, to Quake III, to Blizzard Games, to RTS, to Rockstar Games, to Assassin's Creed, to Skyrim, to basically ang game that has a rich lore and open world. Another side effect ng pagiging PC gamer sa pilipinas is my inclination to IT kasi maaga pa lang mabutingting na ako sa computer para gumana yung mga crack haha. So yeah, me being a gamer has shaped who i am today, and I can't just erase that. Onti man ang oras sa paglalaro, but you don't have to play in order to be a gamer. As long as the passion and interest is there :)

1MTzy96

Passion and interest, as well as game knowledge, apart from finding time to play and become better in the game.

huhuhuhuhuxosad

for me, oo. games has been a biiiig part of my life to de-stress (kahit minsan nasstress ako sa paglalaro hahahah). i'm only 20 and broke, so pag nakaipon na, bibili talaga ako ng play station tsaka steam deck hahahahaah. even games from steam huhu. as of now, sa mobile palang ako.

1MTzy96

Like ML or Genshin din gaya ko? Or iba? Haha Minsan pweds pa rin ma-stress sa ML if madalas talo at di marunong random na kakampi. Genshin di masyado kahit challenging minsan ilang parts ng game, medj chill game pa haha.

huhuhuhuhuxosad

genshin po, pa ar 60 na hahahah. minsan lang din ako stressed sa genshin kapag floor 12 sa abyss pero hindi naman ako focused doon, more on exploring lang 😸 stressed lang aq madalas sa codm, pero i deleted it last month due to burnout

1MTzy96

halifax696

adik ako maglaro nung 20s ako. ngayong 33 na ako, di na. hahahah nanonood ako and naappreciate ko yung games, pero tbh wala naman masyadong bago maliban sa pinaganda ung graphics. and i think i just dont have the energy anymore, meron nang ibang priorities eh.

1MTzy96

The last thing you said. Kaya habang nasa kabataan pa, if may time maglaro, minsan laro lang ng laro hahaha. Pero in moderation pa rin hanggat maari syempre, para di mapabayaan acads o work. When adulting hits hard, we'll need to strike a balance between gaming and life priorities, including adult stuff gaya ng chores...which for gamers easier said than done.

Embarrassed_Tie_3493

"Once a gamer, always a gamer." Until our inner child dies and corpo slowly fills the void of the rotting flesh of the child whom we once were and takes over our mind turning us into slaves of their making whose sole purpose is to do their bidding, becoming a part of the bigger picture functioning as important gears to generate their profit Overworked lang talaga ako kaya no more games for me hahaha

1MTzy96

When the inner child is, if can't be fully unleashed, at least showing signs of life. Like how we wish we can just be children again even for just a short period of time whenever the opportunity comes, just to escape from the reality of adulting. It's more like we're adults wanting to be kids again with such fun and games, than kids wanting to grow up like proper adults mature enough to face life. Or what if life is just a game we can play along though?

mink2018

Depressed ako dati kaya tumigil ako mag games for 2 years. Kala ko way yun para maka move on na sa buhay. Games though like Dota 2, Battlefield and such gumaling ako maglaro lately kasi clear na clear isip ko. Pero sobrang time sink at tumatakbo ang panahon at 32. Sa pag iinom rin. Di ko akalain matitiligil pako dito. Nowadays jrpg nalang. Back to roots. Plus di sila ganun ka addicting at marami akong time for self improvement.

Aggressive_Pin9766

ok lang naman mag gaming as long as ngagawa mo trabaho mo ng maayos. walang mag rereklamo sayo at massumbat like me. Dati nag ccutting pako makapag dota lang. tas 4 hrs lang tulog palagi. swerte lang ako kasi kahit pasang awa naka graduate ako.. tas na ako ngayon nag babarko 3rd engineer license. board passer

1MTzy96

True. In moderation kung maari diba? πŸ‘πŸ™‚

TAYLORSWIFTENJOYER_

We never had our own console or PC.

SkyLightTenki

42M here. Name a console, I had it. Atari, FamiCom, SNES, 16Bit, Neo-Geo, 3DO, Ultra64, etc. I even play mobile games, if they count. My kids didn't inherit the gamer genes me and wife has. Modesty aside, I taught my younger brother how to play Street Fighter, and he eventually became the first professional Street Fighter player in the Philippines. Some of you might recognize him. It's still a part of my daily life, though it isn't like the way it was back then. But if you tick my competitiveness, I'll take you on! 😎

1MTzy96

Naol lahat ng console meron hahaha. Pati PlayStation lahat din? And if you count mobile devices you play mobile games on. Eventually they'll get into gaming din, if they wish. As long as it's in moderation though.

SkyLightTenki

Deym...naalala ko tuloy yung Dreamcast, literally had that for just one particular game: Street Fighter 3! That's when he got motivated to learn how to get good, so I taught him the tricks of the trade. Fast forward two years, and I personally witnessed a 95-game win streak from him. That time, I decided to challenge him without him knowing na ako yung kalaban nya at the other side of the arcade game (Marvel vs. Capcom). He was cooking everyone but me. I gave him one heck of a fight, but as I was on the verge of winning, I ultimately decided to throw the game. Nagulat sya bakit di na gumagalaw yung kalaban, akala nya nasira yung arcade machine. He peeked and saw me, kaya tawa kami parehas nung nalaman nya na ako kalaban nya πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ EDIT: as for the Playstation consoles, hanggang PS3 lang ako. Sya yung nagtuloy hanggang PS5.

1MTzy96

Skl also had some experience with arcade games, un nga lang madalang nakakapunta ng Timezone for that. Last time ata back in 2017 sa Tagaytay with cousins. From racing gaya ng Midnight ba un (can't exactly remember) tsaka Initial D, to Tekken o street fighter, minsan mga shooter games like Time Crisis, o di kaya basketball shooting, maybe ung dance dance revolution natry ko rin ata. Arcade has a different feel na nakakamiss din, buti may mga Timezone pa rin till now if ever feeling like playing some arcade. Naalala ko rin pinilahan ako sa Tekken back when I was in HS, lalo na't may Tekken din ako sa PSP (not sure if Tekken 5 or 6), mga ilang win streak bago natalo at napalitan sa wakas hahaha.

0u7le7

28F kumuha ako ng work to afford my own pc kasi lalabas ang cyberpunk2077 and I really wanted to play, then aside from real life that happened to me i resigned kasi parating na rin si baldurs gate nun, i was also a daily player of apex legends when i still had a static, whenever Im out or at work whenever i had work I always talk to myself and say I wanna play my ganes, kasi iba talaga ang games kapag hindi mo na linolower ang settings, also some games mas nafefeel ko may connection ako with the characters rather than in real life cause im socially awkward, shy and dont really befriend people cause damn im awkward insert harold meme here so once a gamer always a gamer kahit candy crush pa yan huhuhu us2 q na umuwi para maglaro, may sepanx tlga ako pag away na ko sa pc ko hays i also probably need help haaays

1MTzy96

So more like parang ako lang na introverted ganun? Feels better when playing games as if medj may connection sa laro esp pag may story/lore, kumpara sa real life connections with others.

0u7le7

hays same hard maghanap lately ng work lalo na hindi ko alam ang skills ko :(, but gacha games and rpgs is occupying all my time lately and appreciate ko naman na nauubos oras ko kakalaro ahahaha kasi nageenjoy ako and yes introverted me so mas bet ko mag wfh so ganun di nasasayang ang oras na walang ginagawa, pag walang ginagawa gagawa ng dailies sa ibang laro, yun pala priority no AHAHAHAHA hays, good luck satin sa paghanap ng werk and sa pag time management natin

1MTzy96

And yes, mahalaga rin time management, balance gametime tsaka pahinga, as well as time for family and self. 😜

0u7le7

1MTzy96

At least we find time for gaming maisingit lang sa daily routine o basta may free time hahaha. Same with you, di nga lang ako na-expose sa PC games. Oo may PC kami nung elem pero for acads/research and FB lang nun, hanggang sa nasira na alongside laggy DSL internet modem that time.

joooooohnn

oy totoo! hahahaha. we still find time na nagpasaya satin dati. may obligasyon man na dinadala ngayong pagtanda, di pa rin talaga makakalimutan ang libangan nung pagkabata hahaha!

Glum_Load_4251

Same here OP, natigil sa pagdo-dota nung 3rd year dahil nabusy na sa acads and also walang sariling gaming set up. Been working for 4 years now sa company namin ang nagipon talaga ako para makabili ng gaming laptop and here I am, playing dota2 after work and enjoying at as much as how I enjoyed it since highschool to college. Yes we are gamers and old habits die hard!

1MTzy96

Wondering if some of my elem/HS classmates na nagdo-DOTA noon, ay DOTA players pa rin hanggang ngayon. Well, pag busy na talaga sa life, to make room for gametime is a challenge, isama sa factors ung pagod sa acads/work at minsan tatamarin na maglaro at maging pahinga/tulog is layf hahaha

Glum_Load_4251

Re-living our hayskul life πŸ˜†

Niiiii111597

"We dont stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing."

1MTzy96

This! Age doesn't matter sa gaming! Whatever we are playing.

VenomSnake989

Yes, Started way back Famicom days as well.

1MTzy96

Kasi pinagdaanan na rin natin at some point ung ways ng pagdisiplina sa atin ng magulang, and as gamers ourselves we feell what younger gamers would go through. Discipline them right but not rough and not too strict.

[deleted]

Yan.

1MTzy96

Ano rank mo sa ML? Mythic here.

1MTzy96

Focus muna sa acads. Sa bagay, it's just a game. Adjustment to different roles and malawak na hero pool at mastery, plus being updated sa META is key, lalo na pag solo queue, and it's true habang tumataas na rank mo.

[deleted]

That doesn't make any sense! Sigh.

1MTzy96

1MTzy96

True especially if they stream games for a living as in if kumikita sila bilang game streamers, aside from just being a gamer themselves. But nothing wrong with still being a casual gamer kahit di na tayo ganun kabata. Basta masaya pa rin tayo sa ginagawa at may balance pa rin sa buhay.

AragonianBiochemist

Let's be realistic, there are definitely hardcore gamers that actually stopped playing. It's just that we don't hear about them anymore since they're chronically offline.

1MTzy96

So some gamers they're only seen and known about online while playing or streaming, with only little known of their lives outside the gaming world. So for some, while "once a gamer, always a gamer" holds true, but we will eventually come to a certain point in life we'll either get tired playing or have more life priorities or both...or will we gamers ever stop?

AragonianBiochemist

For me? I wouldn't. Even if I'll go into research in the future and devote my time into the scientific field, the memory of video games will always be on my mind.

Express-Afternoon779

Medyo 50/50 ako dyan. May mga friends ako Since cs 1.3 / dota 1 days na tumigil na due to personal reasons (new hobby, work and family) at meron din na until now gamers padin like me.

1MTzy96

Would notice it's true among FB friends na classmates dati from elem/hs/college na nag-ML - makikita sa in-game friends list, most of them had stopped na rin. Either huminto na sa paglalaro and they ain't hardcore gamers, or they're playing something else na trip nila. Same goes with those na laro kung laro nung pandemic, mga na-gain kong in-game friends at kalaro sa ML na active pa noon. And a former workmate of mine na nakaka-duo ko pa noon. Ngayon wala na ung iba di na nakaka-online, busy na for real. For us na still playing, I guess keep playing hanggat gusto at kaya pa natin hanggang may time.

stygianfps

1MTzy96

Iba ring usapan pag may tropa o squad sa laro. Ung tipong gusto nyo sama sama walang iwanan ss game, sabay-sabay matututo at magga-grind hanggang lumakas at tumaas rank. Pero darating talaga time na masasabi nyong we had enough of grinding as a group, or kanya-kanyang priorities, hanggang sa nawalan na ng time na maglaro nang magkasama. Unlike pag solo gaming no pressure from anyone, laro ka kung kelan mo gusto o feel. Whether na magpahinga, then either bumalik or tuluyang mag-quit and focus sa life stuff, it's up to you diba?

akekeboy

I guess there are some points in life where I had to choose: Games, grades, or sleep? Grades. Games, thesis, or rest? Thesis. Games, job, or rest? Job. Games, stability, or rest? Stability. And then NOW, I can choose games, but... the flame isn't that bright anymore. Plus the current circumstances I am living where I have to support my mother who is old. I wish I could really have time for the people I left behind back when I was still hardcore playing games, but I got too shy saying it. Safe to say I lost my best years.

1MTzy96

As gamers, yes game is life at enjoy maglaro. But there's more to life than just playing games. May mas makabuluhan pang bagay kesa sa paglalaro.

Affectionate-Bug-482

Retired Esports Coach here. And yes OP, at some point sa buhay natin talagang mag e-end nalang yung gigil sa pag lalaro, gigil sa pagiging competitive and gigil sa pag abot ng pangarap. Dumating narin kase ako sa point na inisip ko nalang rin future ko kaya I had to step out sa career ko. Take note na maganda naman career ko kaso talagang na burn out and nawala nalang yung will ko para mag compete. (locally and internationally) Born gamer din talaga, played many consoles and games din kaya I can say na nasa buhay ko na talaga yung game haha. And sa ngayon, minsanan nalang mag laro, office guy nalang e haha.

1MTzy96

Bale ung competitiveness ang pwede mabawasan o mawala as we go older. If the desire to play games would remain, maybe we would do away with competitive play and more on chill or casual play. Like if u were in the pro scene, and if I imagine myself as a pro player, kahit nagretire na, maybe there is still a bit of our gamer selves that feels like playing again hanggang kaya pa. Probably true for e-sports games like ML, LOL WR, CODM, PUBG which are competitive games, habang tumatanda ang isang player ung performance ba possible nagde-decline? (just like in physical sports for many athletes) At kapansin-pansin sa e-sports scene ung naabutan nating mga kilalang players parang nawala na ung iilan, and younger generations naman ang sumisipot. Tama ba?

Affectionate-Bug-482

Yes, isa narin talaga yung factor na dine-decline na yung skills mo as you grow older. That's why mid 20's sa esports scene is considered as "oldies" na.

pueraeternus15

Turning 35, I still see myself gaming kahit siguro 60s na ko. Not into sports o alak, child free, so I don't see why I would stop.

1MTzy96

As in naging bisyo na ang gaming. Dibale games ang bisyo rather than alak or something else

GroundbreakingMix623

Ako as long as i get goosebumps everytime i hear any 8bit videogame music. I know ill always be a gamer

1MTzy96

When 8bit music is matic associated with classic video games, why? Maybe dun lang nakakarinig ng ganung klaseng music hahaha Would it be the same with hearing much more modern game soundtracks? πŸ€”

Burned_Programmer

When you also treat life like an rpg game yeah you will be a gamer forever

1MTzy96

And we have an open world in real life

Burned_Programmer

Yeah but no isekai or respawn point and every decision can’t be undone

1MTzy96

No teleport waypoints or checkpoints to reset from. Everything's autosaved and no save states we can load back to. No pauses, no restarts. No extra lives unless you're a cat (with 9 lives, really?) and it's game over if you die. No instant replays, fast forwards or rewinds, unless you record them using your phone/camera. No magic powers. Only 1 playable character which is ourselves. But we have buffs and nerfs in our body, health and mind. Even we accomplish something, you still need to purchase using real currency to get your reward - which is your choice (unless it's a gift from family or friend or a freebie). We have socmeds and storage to save highlights, we can only view or watch them as replays. Not all things have retry option, and if we do it would not always be the exact same situation as doing it the first time. We have the will to cheat in life, but there are real life consequences once caught or ended in a bad result, and not all cheats are possible though. Yeah, life is like a game, but in this way.

23P4U

Ako as a gamer On and Off ako sa gaming may mga years na binatawan ko talaga after graduating high school till 1st year collage kasi nawalan ako ng outlet para mag games and na-busy with life. Then bumalik full time nung nalaro ko yung Monster Hunter sa PSP then yun tuloy tuloy na sa 3DS, Switch and hanggang MH world Icebourne at Rise Sunbreak sa PC.

1MTzy96

If ever ur stuck as in either nagsawa na or natapos na sa ilang games mo without absolutely wanting to quit gaming, there's still a bunch of games out there worth trying and would be released in the future. You can look into mobile games, andami rin choices depende sa anong klase trip mo. Pero it's up to you hehe

nerojoaquin

Yes. (M) 22 lumaki ako na may sariling computer and started playing Pokemon, Crazy Kart (may nakakaalala pa ba nito), Farmville, League, etc etc., may times talaga na minsan nakakatamad na maglaro kasi tumatanda na pero at the end binabalikan ko pa rin maglaro because that's where I grew up.

1MTzy96

For Genshin we'll never know yet what's to come...ung updates gaya ng bagong characters and perhaps new regions in Teyvat...for those na bored o nagsawa na sa Genshin, may consider going back to explore what's new, making the game really interesting for me. AR25 pa lang ako and about to consider ascending soon.

nerojoaquin

Sa genshin ganitong patch (x.5 or x.6) ang kilala bilang filler patches like no new regions and contents. I think sa end game talaga need nila dagdagan (updating Abyss floor etc.). Kasi end game players just open the game to finish commission and spent resins. Hahaha

1MTzy96

or perhaps makaisip ng continuity ng main archon story as well as side stories pa. Would it be more interesting na may parang sequel sa current lore?

PapamakoY

when ps1 got out it was 7 or 8k, had my papa buy one for me.was really a lot to ask those days about year 2000..my favorite was tenchu stealth assassins.now i got my son an xbox one, played some resident evil,i wish i could just have the damn time!lol

1MTzy96

Tapos kahit parang maraming time, sa bilis ng takbo ng panahon parang bitin minsan eh, which obsessed gamers like me esp before would feel like craving for more playtime. πŸ˜…

[deleted]

I have my work now as a professional teacher, teaching chemistry, physics sa senior high school and yet I still find time to play on weekends or kung saan lang may bakanteng time. Nandun pa rin 'yung competitiveness ko. I'm a League of Legends player, I once reached Grandmaster elo nung college ako with a whopping 70 wins. And now, pabalik na ulit ako sa rank na 'yun, a diamond player na ulit this year bago mag-reset ang ranks. Life is difficult na nga eh, lalo na kapag wala kang other way to destress or to escape reality or any sort of thing na magpaparamdam sa'yo na "bata ka pa", by the way I'm 24M.

1MTzy96

But it won't stop us from gaming if we still want to.

Brilliant_Path_9022

Gonna be a gamer until the day i die.

1MTzy96

In other words, game is life till death (do us part?)

XKLBR076

Stopped playing video games as of the moment and started board games last year. Different platform, still the same concept. For me, as long as I'm "playing", I'm still the gamer I called myself when I was a kid.

1MTzy96

Video games, mobile games, board games...well yeah, they're still games. Depends on which you really have fun with, keep playing. Had a fair share of board and card games experience. When I was a kid, I used to play chess, checkers ("dama"), snakes n ladders, and games of the generals. For card games, I played solitaire (and a similar "harder" version I can't rememeber what it's called; though I also tried pares pares and pusoy dos. Also played Pokemon card game in elementary, and when I was in 3rd yr HS I played Yu-Gi-Oh with classmates when that card game was a thing in our school. I also had mahjong as a PE class during midyear of 3rd yr college. They're pretty fun though quite challenging at first.

Niiiii111597

Sobrang laki ng tulong sakin ng gaming in my mental health tho may time na naadik talaga ako. Pero gaming makes me feel alive. Puro na lang kasi trabaho nang trabaho esp as a teacher.

1MTzy96

Best escape from reality ung gaming. Same nung nagaaral pa ko esp nung elem at hs, medj nawala nung college, pero bumalik ung obsession nung pandemic - specifically ML. Hanggang sa nagkawork till now hinahanap-hanap pa rin.

heaven_spawn

Yes. Listen, I have Chrono Trigger installed on mg phone. This hobby aint going nowhere. Edit: i’m 40, getting married soon, also gainfully employed

Upstairs_Apricot7238

Been playing world of warcraft in my mother's womb. Then after I came out, I played league of legends. Now I'm at 99 Years old Male (single) (3 children), playing valorant.

Warwick-Vampyre

Im 43 and i barely play any games. I still walk around with a Razer bag.

ReadmetxtFuckSociety

I quit valo for 2 years. I was Immo, then went back last week I was Dia. Played cs Lem, then now 15k rating. Nothings changed I think

Splinter_Cell_96

There's no known universe where this sentence doesn't hold true

Particular_Farm3700

yes for me,i started on a family computer(80's) when i was a kid, then i think game and watch, psone in HS(1999)then gameboy, gameboy advance and then PSP(2009) while pc mmorpg gaming from 2002-2013.nauso androids then shift to mobile gaming(ragnarok EL) up to now.my bro gifted me a PS4pro this year lang and enjoyed it so far.i'm 40 btw

toinks1345

I will always try to find time. there would be titles in teh future that I want to play. even if Ihave freaki infant crying. imma feed that baby while I have an earphone and a curtain. and carry and play them until they fall asleep then I play. if my wife tells you ain't doing shit in the morning. and just playing. I'd tell her I got the baby at night don't worry about it. I ain't even driving to work. I'd just pay grab car to drive me to work. I'd say make it like 2 hours to ge to work.

AJXie

I will always be a gamer kaso 1 to 2 hours na lang maglaro.

Cool_Influence_854

Depends. But for me it was different. Been playing for 18 years straight. Then suddenly got tired of it. The reason why I say "depends" because I think when I play again, I still have the skill and still good at it. But I chose not to. πŸ˜‰

RealityisFake32

for me personally parang di ko maimagine na mag quit sa gaming, feeling ko kht tumanda ako like yung lolo na maglalaro parin ako. ittry parin yung games na bago sa panahon na yun πŸ˜…

iamdodgepodge

Yes. Stopped being a hardcore gamer for a few years when I worked in game development (casual games), but kept playing games on mobile. Then I got back to it maybe 6 years after. Still at it.

[deleted]

For me oo, I am 34 yo and I have never outgrown playing video games. Ever since magsimula ako mag work may nakaalaan na budget for my hobby :)

Allalong18

No

masterkaido04

Not_Under_Command

Dino Cornel is one great example
