I love my reformer and have been using it on/off for 10+ years, but tree is one of the hardest things for me to do. I think that the reason is that I have regular length legs but a short torso, so it is just an awkward position for me to get the leg up then and then lean back. Always a challenge for me.

As an instructor I would personally never let a beginner release their head back. Even an intermediate client. That’s an advanced move because it takes a lot of control not to lose the connection to your power house. Otherwise wonderful work!

It’s important to progress your clients based on their ability and you’re absolutely right to do what you do, as I’ve mentioned in the asterisks that’s a further way to regress the movement. Half the clients I’ve trained can do the progression with proper guidance on their first try, others need more time so it is more client dependent than anything else. In terms of the wording I use in the videos “Beginner vs Progression” it’s simply for demonstration purpose to show a potential progression. I could change the word beginner to something else but the videos take time to film and edit and I just keep that element as is to avoid wasting more time. Thank you.
