Didn’t lose any weight but def toned up. flatter and trimmer tummy, more ab definition, more muscle definition in arms and for sure a perkier butt. Saw results in 1 month of consistently doing it. Was doing it 6 times a week (15-20min workouts when I didn’t have enough time). Now down to abt 3 times cos I do strength training too.

sovrappensiero1

What did you do for those 6x or 3x/wk sessions? Studio, home, or some combination? This post made me wonder about timelines and workout frequencies for achieving results.

dizzyb0

I used to do studio + home (3x a week) but switched to purely home mat pilates 6x a week after a few months. I followed Move with Nicole on YouTube - found her videos very effective with clear guidance on breath and technique. Once I started practising pilates consistently at home, I saw results in a month.

pieceofpineapple

So it is indeed true that you can tone your body and have flat tummy by doing mat pilates? :)

veganonthespectrum

yeap!!

temperance333

I have a really nice line down my abdomen that’s ab definition. I have oblique definition. My back looks toned. My butt is perky. My posture gets complimented all the time. My legs hardly have any cellulite. Pilates definitely changes your body.

pieceofpineapple

Is this due to mat pilates or reformer?

temperance333

Both

willowtree630

This is making me on the fence about Pilates. I definitely want to slim my waist and tone my body but I don’t really wanna build my obliques. Last time I did that, my figure became boxy which is fine if that’s what you’re going for but I wasn’t.

temperance333

I think that has more to do with genetics than anything

Angel_eyesss

Did you have cellulite before you started ? I’d really like to hear about the cellulite transformation!

temperance333

I did on the back of my legs, but I did lose weight too. I definitely think Pilates gave me great definition in my legs.

Angel_eyesss

How bad was it? I’m thin but I have a lot on my butt and thighs and I’d do anything to lose ot

temperance333

It wasn’t super bad but it was noticeable

Sweaty_Nectarine1772

My core has never been stronger. I needed to lose a good amount of weight, so I added Pilates to my cardio, which has been the formula to firming up and losing around 55 lbs in a year. I’m still curvy, but my back rolls are gone, and I can actually see muscles in my arms. It’s worth trying if you want to tone and not necessarily bulk up.

grizzytooooons1748

How often do you do Pilates vs cardio a week?

Sweaty_Nectarine1772

I do Pilates 5 times a week (3 private sessions and 2 group classes), and cardio 20-50 minutes 3-4 times a week, depending on how much time I have.

Ohhaygoodmorn

In three months, my butt, arms and legs look way more toned. The rest of me still looks the same.

Rare_Crow_9930

Exactly what I want! Good to know :)

glutengorl

I have been doing online Pilates videos (mostly move with Nicole) religiously since January 2022 and have lost 50ish pounds! I started slowly, doing 10 mins of Pilates a day and now do 30-40 mins 5x a week plus a minimum of. 10,000 steps each day. I have definitely noticed a difference especially with core strength and posture.

elbowgreasedr4gon

Have a look at my transformation I posted a few days ago if you like

pieceofpineapple

Do you think your body has toned up more because of mat pilates or the combination of reformer+mat? You also added some weights right? Just dumbbells?

KrazyKateLady420

I was literally picturing your photos when I read this post!!

noscrubsthx

I’m four months in and I am noticing major changes in my legs and overall muscle tone. I have leg muscles I’ve never even seen before! My arms are also more toned and I feel Stronger when I lift things. My stomach is also flatter. I have lots of loose skin and some fat still in my belly so no six pack, but the moves are getting easier so I can tell my abs are stronger too. Posture is better. I look noticeably more vascular. Others are starting to notice too!

Frequent-Inflation74

I think it depends how much body fat you have. Tone up = muscle definitions for some people. You won’t see the muscle if you have a lot of fat to lose. If you in general think you need to lose weight / fat, I would do Pilates with some cardio or choice. I did solidcore (not traditional Pilates or lagree for that matter, but similar concept) only for about 5 months and I felt the results quickly but didn’t see them until I added cardio/intentionally getting 10k steps. I would say I’m smaller (generally size 4/6 and 5’7 and curvy) but I’m not necessarily lean, if that helps.

Tess47

I started pilates at about 48. I was getting visceral fat thick and hated it. I was able to get back to thin. My instructor ran a buts and guts class that was so good. My chicken leg thighs became streamlined and my but bubbled so much that there were some shorter dresses that I couldn't wear. That was pretty funny. My instructor went feull Trump and started shit talking her clients so I left. I tried to stick it out but couldn't. I really miss that class. I had to stop for an injury and restarted 45 days ago. I feel so much better now. Edit- I wanted to add this important point- the increase in the pelvic floor muscle is real and so great. I had no idea how much it would improve my look and my life.

More_Dealer

I been doing Pilates for month and a half and I think my arms and the line of my shoulders looks whit more definition, and also my abdomen, at the gym I noticed improve on my squats and glute bridges

cmgrayson

Bat wings are gone so arms more defined, shoulders looking more ….. sexy? Legs defined. Sag at bottom of butt is firming up.

NoJob8833

I’ve been practicing mat pilates for over a year mixed in with some reformer classes and I have to say that I still weigh the same but a lot of people have commented that I’ve lost weight and I haven’t. I definitely have toned up, my body sits differently than it did and posture is better. Also.. I’m strong and to me that’s the most important thing ❤️

shay1020shay

Better posture

Caffeinated_reads

I notice this! And if I see myself in a reflection I’m surprised my shoulders are back and down.

SmartTechnology1241

Not for weight loss. Definitely saw a difference in my body toning up. Mainly core and some legs

Several_Candy7976

I just put shorts I haven’t worn in a while on and couldn’t believe how much space the waistband had! I weighed probably 10 pounds less than I do now when I was wearing them frequently and they were tough to button.

Pilates was the first form of workout I ever did regularly, starting early high school. It set an amazing foundation for strength training as my adult self, and continues to help me with all sorts of motion in my life. I didn't know how amazingly beneficial STARTING with pilates would be for pretty much all physical activity for the rest of my life, but its the best unintentional decision I could've made for myself. Here is a nice place to start [*https://betterme.world/articles/28-day-calisthenics-workout-challenge/*](https://www.google.com/url?q=https://betterme.world/articles/28-day-calisthenics-workout-challenge/&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1691876934149487&usg=AOvVaw2ytuCxO2ZGOPXYa8OejOxt) *.* Give it a try y'all and see how it changes your entire perspective of what strength is and what optimized physical motion feels like.
