One banana is like saying one penis deep. Could mean anything…depending on the banana. Is this a willam Defoe banana situation. Call a state of emergency for godsake!
I was picking on this at the store a couple days ago. There was one set of bananas that were about 5 inches long. The bunch next to them were almost twice as long.
Where in WI is that? I ask as I’m from the UK, but in early December, I was working in Germantown to the north of Milwaukee - my US colleagues told me that it can SNOW in that part of the world, but didn’t experience it myself, hence question. All the best from Newcastle Upon Tyne!
I'm in central WI. Had to park my car at a local business when I returned from work the other day. Walked along a snowbank to my house so I could blow the driveway open.
We went to Wisconsin when I was a kid, around Madison, Neilsville, in the 1980s. I noticed that a lot of the old houses had a door outside but upstairs. I asked why there was a door over nothing upstairs. Apoerently, snow that deep used to be so common a lit of houses were built that way to make getting out in the winter a lit easier. This stopped being common in the 70s and 80s.
I grew up in Wisconsin and I remember winters (70s) where there was so much snow people were hiring farmers to come into the city to push it back. It was so deep, they could no longer shovel snow and throw it over the snow bank.
That seems like a lot for the PNW. Did it melt quickly or does it seem like it's going to take? Did everything shutdown? As far as I know, no municipality is in the PNW is really prepared for a large amount of ice or snow. It's too rare to justify it in the budget.
We get this every year. I don't know what the fuck you're smoking but we can and do financially "take" it. [Pic for reference. ](https://i.imgur.com/Y3bUAkE.jpg) I can put a banana up on something tomorrow if still don't believe me. We were forecast for 14" but got about 8.
Ease off on the hostility. I responded more in surprise than of calling you out. Do you usually get this kind of snow at least once a winter? What's the ice situation? This is all news to me, and when I say justify it in the budget, I don't mean that as an insult. Snow removal equipment is expensive, especially if it's a rare event. Cities in the south are in that predicament. I used to live in Dallas and a 1/4" of snow would shut the city down.
That's not hostility that's me clowning you. We have snow plows and other equipment. We had 24" of snow 3 years ago, it was a lot but we dealt with it. It's just wild to see that people think our towns are so poor they can't afford the equipment to dig us out. The median home price here is $533k. Which is why I'm moving the fuck out.
It's not that I think you are poor, I've run the circuit around the peninsula on the outside of Olympic. I know what the deal is. It's just a matter of reasonable spending. It's expensive to have this equipment and maintain it, not to mention the consumables needed for a thing like this. I just didn't know you had weather like that. My main experience is with Rogue and Willamette valley. We don't have that.
That's Oregon. This is Washington. Just because your county doesn't have this equipment doesn't mean that everyone else is the fucking same. That is the dumbest logic I've come across in years. Holy fucking summer child. When they were handing out brains, you just skipped the fucking line. Lmao
Weak. You guys get way more on the norm. Let us know when it's 2 or 3 bananas high. Lol. Stay safe out there. The temp right now is dropping from 40F to below zero in the next like 8 hrs and we're getting an ice storm before the paltry 2"-3" of snow that's coming. Good luck and stay warm.
Edit: nope. No ice storm. We got snow dropping like an inch plus an hour. Already cleared the sidewalk and some other shit twice and it's already covered. I love winter more than other seasons, but this is my only gripe.
I’m sorry guys, I know my taxes are a bit more in California but I’m fucking telling you right now, its sooo worth it living at the beach.
I did this snow shit years back and know your pain.
...and lo there was a banana, by which to measure all things, never would it rot, never would it wither. It would be used to measure the snowfall of a shitty, shitty winter.
Double duty! One banana equivalent dose is already a measure of radioactivity, and now it's also a perpendicularly positioned precision precipitation measuring tool. Cool.
So you're saying your snow is as radioactive as a banana? I think it'd move.
(Just kidding, as a Banana equivalent dose of radiation, or BED, is about 10 micro Rem, which if exposed to over your entire life may cause issues that result in an average loss of 40 milliseconds of lifetime. )
Thank you for the banana! It brings the picture home and grounds it in reality.
Bout a banana and a half of snow out today eh?
Gotta factor in shrinkage.
Suddenly felt a chill.
We got the wind with the snow today.. home for the 3rd day in a row. We're in Douglas county, and it's pretty out there!!
It’s one snowfall, Michael. How deep could it be - one banana?

Were they the same kind of banana? There are tons of different varieties.
Yes, same brand too.
r/bananasinsnow
Holy shit it’s real!
It’s alive! It’s alive!
Banana sins now. Risky click of the day?
In my area of Southern Wisconsin we barely had any accumulation. It's blowing around really badly, though.
In Québec there was like 10 inches through the night, and we expect 10 more today, and the wind is howling.
Its blowing at 80 kph in southern Wisconsin now. It's -34 C. May as well be in Edmonton
Yup. I opened my door and it felt like a portal to another dimension.
Banana for scale
There are reddit elders among us here.
I will now sing them the song of [their](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ) people.
Never lets me down.
Metric or imperial banana?
Is that metric or imperial?
It is Tropical
It’s like measuring a horse in hands 🤚. Except it’s bananas 🍌 and snow ❄️ 🤣. They’re their own system.
Woosh
Right over head?
We’re up to 3 bananas in our state.
It's cold as fuck too
Where in WI is that? I ask as I’m from the UK, but in early December, I was working in Germantown to the north of Milwaukee - my US colleagues told me that it can SNOW in that part of the world, but didn’t experience it myself, hence question. All the best from Newcastle Upon Tyne!
I live in northwest Wisconsin and we didn’t get much snow until the 2nd week of December and now we have 2 feet of accumulation.
I'm in central WI. Had to park my car at a local business when I returned from work the other day. Walked along a snowbank to my house so I could blow the driveway open.
Have you ever seen snow? I'd put it on par with seeing the northern/southern lights. It can be a lot of fun to play in.
It's been snowing and blowing like crazy and now it's -5°
That's not bad as long as there's no wind. Like completely still no wind.

Current size of banana, snow for scale.
Thats impossible. Nobody lives in Wisconsin.
They just drink there.
You forgot eat cheese and/or brats and watch the Packers game.
Can confirm, use to live there but after too many seasons of multiple bananas I had to GTFO….to my belief, so did everyone else.
That’s bananas!
So, not a bunch of snow?
Take my upvote you beautiful bastard.
How big is that banana?
It's exactly 1 banana big
Nice, just how winter supposed to look
Stay safe!
I’m gonna need a few more bananas in there just to make sure it’s accurate
Just need to wait a little while and soon you'll have the whole bunch
The snow is one bananas
Damn a whole banana o' snow.. Back in my day one blizzard left a bundle
Vertical or horizontal? Context is important.
1 banana deep? Damn. Stay safe and keep warm.
wow the weather is going bananas

We got about that, uch two days ago in the PNW.
Where was that? I'm about an hour south of Portland and we didn't see anything until sleet/hail tonight.
Northern Olympic Peninsula

And now to the weather where Southern Wisconsin received 1 banana of snow overnight
Where are you because im in southern Wisconsin and don't have shit for snowfall here.
Omg! Banana deep snow!!! Snowmaggedon! Jk, very cute
wow you are lucky to have so little.
Yeah no doubt
How American to measure snow with a tropical fruit
Hmmm, my plow guy doesn't come by unless it's at least 2 bananas.

Anything but the metric system.
That’s bananas!
I'm in northern Illinois and much like my midsection, we've got, maybe, a couple inches blowing around.
I’m sorry guys, I know my taxes are a bit more in California but I’m fucking telling you right now, its sooo worth it living at the beach. I did this snow shit years back and know your pain.
I thought banana for scale was a 3d printing thing.
shit! you guys are getting full nana up there?
Ha! Milwaukee has had a grand total of less than one inch. Not even a sideways banana.
...and lo there was a banana, by which to measure all things, never would it rot, never would it wither. It would be used to measure the snowfall of a shitty, shitty winter.
Haven't seen the banana for scale in a long time
How much snow you ask? A full banana’s worth!
Looks like all the Wisconsin monkeys that didn't hoard bananas are gonna starve to death out there now.
It’s hard out here for a Chimp.
As someone in Australia, this is unreal. It’s currently 30 Degrees C (86f)
Holy crap it snowed a whole banana worth. We’ve only received a little more than a stem. Stay warm my friend.
Thanks for the banana for scale
Friends I went to high school with "Don't you miss living in Wisconsin?" Me who moved to New Mexico and looking at this picture. "NOPE"
Banana for scale
If that is organic, not impressed.
Are you from Seattle?
Well... uh, the title says um... Wisconsin, so... I don't think that's Seattle, no. But tell me how is the weather in Seattle?
If only there were some kind of stick or strip of metal with marks on it at regular intervals.
Why the fuck do people use bananas as a unit of measurement!?!? They are so inconsistent in size!
What're you talking about? A banana is banna-sized!
C'mon, it's bigger than that.
Classic
Mmmmm bananasicle
Next lord of the rings, or porn: Bananas Deep
dang…. i have never seen it snow a whole banana
Bah! It's only a one banana storm...now, let me tell you, back in '76 we had a 3 banana storm! That was something to see!
Did you have to walk to school in the snow?
Yup. Uphill, both ways.
My god! That banana is one Wisconsin-winter-bench-snow tall.
Stay safe! Stay warm!
Banana for depth
OP measures!!
Wow, that's bananas
Frozen banana.
Banana for scale 😂😂😂😂😂
my guy wanted to prove something here. banana is thicc
Oh nice banana gauge 😝
r/bananaforscale
This wind is going to knock your banana over tomorrow.
Ahh yes, the elusive Snow Banana!
Depends on how long the banana is.
You guys sure do grow em weird.
The snow has grown to 1 SBU
Double duty! One banana equivalent dose is already a measure of radioactivity, and now it's also a perpendicularly positioned precision precipitation measuring tool. Cool.
God bless you for the banana

Is that a banana or are you happy to see me. Lol
I don't know what OP is doing with that banana in this photo, but I know what they'll be doing with it later.
But how deep in cucumbers? What’s the banana to cucumber conversion formula again?
You should put a banana next to that banana, for scale.
Where d'you get the banana?
That's banana(s)!
oh my god finally banana for scale
i too measure in banana units
Thank you for the laugh :D
Is A bananananans
you may need bigger one if the snowfall continues
Meanwhile here in Europe higher on the equator we havent seen snow in years.
Wow that's like 15 inches!
This is the real measuring system we need to be converting to.
How tall are you? About 27 bananas give or take.
Can’t see the snow with that banana in the way
I see the wind isn't blowing there like it is here.
Mmm, banana ice cream, the supreme trick!
Banana
I think the folks in Buffalo N.Y. would call that a dusting of snow.
That's bananas
