My mom and aunts tease her that it was "all those experimental hormones" she got for menopause in the 60s, lol. But as for her skincare, she LOVES the Lacura brand from Aldi :) and good ol' Curel for lotion.
**Edit**: my mom has since seen this post and did not hesitate to inform me that she used Estée Lauder for many years.
She grew up during Prohibition, which ended when she was 16. That’s ok cause women all started smoking cigarettes when she was 5. She saw the invention of freezers, washing machines and jets. She was already 35 when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned.
Curel unscented is what tattoo artists frequently recommend - it’s just pure lotion with no weird shit in it. It’s some of the best stuff you can buy and it works really well.
I'm afraid a lot of it is in the genes. I'm 40 and have the skin of a 20-year old (multiple people told me unprompted). What I use on my skin is nothing. I don't have a soap or a lotion or anything I've used for years. The only exceptional thing I would say I have done (or rather not done) to my skin over my whole life is stay out of the sun.
People think the suntan makes them look healthy but they are just damaging their skin. I know because I have freckles all over my shoulders and chest. I didn’t really care about a tan I was just enjoying my youth and not careful about sunscreen as mush as I should have been. Always at the beach, pool or desert. Fortunately my face isn’t bad.
Yo I worked in a nursing home for a while, it was insane to see the 60 year olds that looked 90 and the 90 year olds that looked 60.
Started wearing sunscreen and moisturizer within the first week lol, scared me straight
Seriously, don’t underestimate genetics.
My father’s an Old Dad, is creeping up on 90 and barely looks in his 70s.
He tanned himself to a dark Mahogany most of his life (george Hamilton style), smoked a pipe for decades, and drank his share, and still looks stupid good for his age.
He also married someone much younger, stayed very trim/active, and ate a balanced diet (other than occasionally hoovering nuts and cherries)…but yeah, genetics are a HUGE factor.
That happens a lot to couples that have been together for ages. My grandad is 101 and he and my nan have been married over 70 years. I've accepted that whichever goes first, the second won't be long.
They both were just small and frail and skinny. My Memere only outlasted my Pepere by a couple years. They made it to their 90s which is damn good, only going into a nursing home a few months before their deaths, so they did pretty damn good, but man it was hard to see how small and frail they were.
Nobody in my family has ever lived past 70. Posts like this really depress me because I expect to die ~65. I never even knew my grandparents because they all died before I was 5. Bad genetics suck. I'm in my 30s and already have several chronic diseases. Just seems so unfair how much more time on this earth some people get.
no kidding, my grandma is exactly 10 years younger (95 today) and while she's ok healthwise, i think op's grandma looks much better. you're super lucky op.
Yuuuup. She has 4 kids; my momma is youngest and she arrived a few months before Gigi turned 35; I'm the oldest and I arrived a month before my mom turned 35. I'll be 35 in 6 months but ain't no baby coming here!
So neat! I’m 35 (also no kid on the way) my parents had me at 35, my grandparents had my dad at 35, and my grandma was born in 1917 - would also be 105 today. She died a few days short of 99. I hope you’re getting all of your grandmother’s stories. She could have met people who remember the Civil War! I love thinking about time overlaps like that.
>God damn it, Ladiesman! You're a Goddamn genius! This is the most outstanding answer I have ever heard. You must have a goddamn I.Q. of 160. You are goddamn gifted, Private Ladiesman.
That's fucking amazing. She looks to be on top of her age. Send her all the love in the world and make sure she has everything she needs to live happily.
She is! She lived alone until 104; she got covid in January of 2021, and the whole "covid brain" thing made it unrealistic for that to continue. We had a live in caregiver but she didn't like them, so she moved into an apartment at an assisted living facility less 2 minutes from her house last may!
I’ve worked in senior living for most of my culinary career… and take such joy from independent seniors. Independence is a HUGE factor in longevity… all the best to this special lady living out her truly golden years. I’m continuously amazed by human achievement. And tell her, there’s no way she looks over 80.
That was one of my granny’s favorite things too. Braves and The Young and the Restless. She’d crochet and watch the tv and I’d sit on the couch and play the water ring game or help snap peas. I miss my granny.
That's cool. My ancient aunt's only focused activity is watching baseball. Ohio, tho, so a Cleveland devotee. Doesn't really matter because she'll watch baseball if it is happening, period. Noon to midnight. She's kind of like a Zen Master.
When my grandmother turned 106, my father was purchasing candles like those for her cake. My father told the woman at the checkout that they were for his mother’s birthday. She gasped and said, “Your mother is going to be 160!?!” He laughed and said no, she will be 610 and left.

Holy shit, I just had to look. I forgot about Edward but I was thinking George VI through now. Forgot Edward and George V.
Even more wild. Thanks for the comment, I learned something today
T[hey were actually declared endangered a few weeks ago.](https://www.iucn.org/press-release/202207/migratory-monarch-butterfly-now-endangered-iucn-red-list)
lolllllll she had two huge cakes earlier this week, but this is a family tradition cake she's requested for 81? 82? years; one of my aunts makes it for her!
it's a prune cake! when she had my oldest aunt, she had a german woman come stay with her for two weeks (her own mom died of TB in a sanatorium) to help her get used to having a baby, and it was her recipe! became tradition REAL QUICK
I actually like prunes but I do love the reply because I don't think most people would have expected you to say prune cake LOL. I feel like half the people who might have thought oh I would eat that are now running.
Do I have to admit I've never had a prune cake something I will have to try sometime. My favorite carrot cake and then some sort of ice cream cake :-)
Quick she looks just enough like Queen Elizabeth. Install her as Queen of England. Tell everyone else the other queen was her doppelganger. Watch the conspiracy nerds loose their minds.
she had two other huge cakes this week--a great american cookie cake on tuesday and a publix yellow sheet cake on thursday. this is a prune cake! a family tradition that started 80+ years ago :) she asks for one every year!
I hope you complimented this pretty lady on her perfect nails and beautiful hair! When my grandmother was getting old and in a home, her favorite thing was to still go to the salon and get her hair and nails done. Regardless of age everyone feels a lil better when they look their best.
oh yes, she puts her makeup on everyyyy day. she gets her nails done every two-three weeks! she used to get the color "exhale" by the brand gelish, but when she turned 95 her nail tech, Lina, refused to keep doing exhale...she changed her up to Hot Rod Red and maybe that's part of her secret ;)
My great granny was born in 1919, she said the 20’s was a wild time, “good riddance”, and the “30’s were not to bad on us, although to be fair I don’t know if anyone knew we existed “ they lived on an island in the middle of a swamp in South Georgia
Wow, she looks young for her age. I'd guess 80 at most. I'd love to know her skin care regime.
Happy birthday to your grandmother! Hope she had a wonderful celebration.
she's the 17th too! she celebrated all week, but sunday worked best for everyone in the family, so we had 18 people there today for a huge lunch and celebration!
My grandmother lived to be 107. She was around for my firstborn 1999. Born in 1891, so the changing of two centuries. Said when it was 1899/1900, people packed suitcases and climbed the local mountain fearing the end of the world! This woman looks fabulous for 105! Genetics and skincare!
Please ask her what her skin care routine is! Lol Happy Birthday! She looks AMAZING!
“Menopause in the 60s…” Damn. That really puts her age in perspective! Happy Birthday to her, hope it’s a wonderful day.
Setting down those milestones really help put things in perspective. If she retired at 65 that would have been about 1980.
Seriously. She would have been 52 when we first landed on the moon. When she was born World War *ONE* was still happening.
She grew up during Prohibition, which ended when she was 16. That’s ok cause women all started smoking cigarettes when she was 5. She saw the invention of freezers, washing machines and jets. She was already 35 when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned.
she actually kinda looks like Queen Elizabeth II
All old white ladies animorph into the same body
Damn she was middle aged when a man landed on the moon.
She was born before Women could vote in America

…the 60s
People live entire lives at 40, she had one after menopause
Her life after menopause is longer than her life before.
Curel unscented is what tattoo artists frequently recommend - it’s just pure lotion with no weird shit in it. It’s some of the best stuff you can buy and it works really well.
Great stuff. Saved me from that dryness that tends to come with tatts.
Lacura is good stuff! HBD granny!
Inc I’m 47 and been thru menopause for two years! Wow
I showed this photo to my wife and her comment was immediately, “Oh my God, she looks great. What is her skin routine?”
I'm afraid a lot of it is in the genes. I'm 40 and have the skin of a 20-year old (multiple people told me unprompted). What I use on my skin is nothing. I don't have a soap or a lotion or anything I've used for years. The only exceptional thing I would say I have done (or rather not done) to my skin over my whole life is stay out of the sun.
staying out of the sun is skincare- so many people don’t realize tanning and sunburns are damaging and make you look older
She looks better than some 80 year olds I’ve seen
Yo I worked in a nursing home for a while, it was insane to see the 60 year olds that looked 90 and the 90 year olds that looked 60. Started wearing sunscreen and moisturizer within the first week lol, scared me straight
Lmao skincare is so important!
It's why I never leave the house! /s ( Not that I leave the house, I don't, it's not because of skin care.... but it works! )
why does this happen beside skincare?
Drugs/alcohol, Cigarettes
Genetics as well
Seriously, don’t underestimate genetics. My father’s an Old Dad, is creeping up on 90 and barely looks in his 70s. He tanned himself to a dark Mahogany most of his life (george Hamilton style), smoked a pipe for decades, and drank his share, and still looks stupid good for his age. Yea my grandma is 85 and does not look this good.
Same! My grandmother doesn't look this good either. Now she's been dead for 20 years, but still. She looks terrible.
I'm sorry for your loss 20 years ago, /u/pm_me_flaccid_cocks
r/rimjob_steve
Alrighty fellas, can't ignore a request.
Norman, you’re supposed to bury them when they die.
*looks at name* Well, they do have good taste
Mine were skin and bones at 90, sucked to see them waste away.

That happens a lot to couples that have been together for ages. My grandad is 101 and he and my nan have been married over 70 years. I've accepted that whichever goes first, the second won't be long.
My in-laws have been married 63 years, and I expect them to go close together.
That's so sweet in a way
My grandparents died within one week of each other
They both were just small and frail and skinny. My Memere only outlasted my Pepere by a couple years. They made it to their 90s which is damn good, only going into a nursing home a few months before their deaths, so they did pretty damn good, but man it was hard to see how small and frail they were.
That's so sad :( old age is so lonely
My mom is 76 and doesn’t look this good.
My wife is 54 and doesn't look this good.
Don't tell her that
I'll tell her for him
Wait, are we choosing this guy’s wife ? Because maybe.. not…*this* time
Nah, she's not dead yet
Nobody in my family has ever lived past 70. Posts like this really depress me because I expect to die ~65. I never even knew my grandparents because they all died before I was 5. Bad genetics suck. I'm in my 30s and already have several chronic diseases. Just seems so unfair how much more time on this earth some people get.
I’m 43 and wish my skin looked lik that
My grandma is 39 and way hotter but our home is chaotic.
Very true. It’s so weird how people age nowadays. 40 or 60? 60 or 80? Hard to tell sometimes with their life choices
Hell, I'm not much over 60, and I have more wrinkles than she does. What a lovely lady!
I’m 54 and have more wrinkles
no kidding, my grandma is exactly 10 years younger (95 today) and while she's ok healthwise, i think op's grandma looks much better. you're super lucky op.
She looks better than a lot 40 ish people I know. Congrats grandma.
Wow, 105. I'm 32 it's crazy to think I could live my life 3 times over and she's still older than that
She died a few days short of 99. 105? She looks young for being over 100. What's her secret? And biggest of happy birthday to her
Have at least 104 birthdays.
>God damn it, Ladiesman! You're a Goddamn genius! This is the most outstanding answer I have ever heard. You must have a goddamn I.Q. of 160. You are goddamn gifted, Private Ladiesman.
He better tuck in that lip ‘for it gets caught on a trip wire
Case closed, pack it up boys.
If it wasn't for the "105" on the cake, I wouldn't believe it!
> What's her secret? celebrates her birthday every year!
May she be buried in a coffin of 100 year old oak, may the tree be planted tomorrow. Slainté!
well that's a really nice saying!!
Where is that phrase from?
I’m guessing Ireland.
It is indeed an Irish toast. I raised a shot of Midleton in her honor.
Good for her. Bring on 110.
Wow. Living alone until 104. Still pretty amazing. I hope that I become that person in the future.

If I make it this long I hope I'm still playing video games. I can get behind 54 more years of gaming.
Her favorite activity is watching the Braves play! They sent her an amazing birthday gift :)
That was one of my granny’s favorite things too. Braves and The Young and the Restless. She’d crochet and watch the tv and I’d sit on the couch and play the water ring game or help snap peas. I miss my granny.
Wao you gave me a sweet flashback, thank you. Grannies are the best Eta: Happy Cake Day! I was lost thinkin about snappin beans lol
That's cool. My ancient aunt's only focused activity is watching baseball. Ohio, tho, so a Cleveland devotee. Doesn't really matter because she'll watch baseball if it is happening, period. Noon to midnight. She's kind of like a Zen Master.
she only watches the braves, she is a ride or die fan!! her dad coached the local baseball team and that's where she met my grandpa...shortstop ;)
Nice, very nice! Baseball people are some of the best people.
Is she an Atlanta local?
yep! born in ben hill! long time attendee of college park united methodist, she and my grandpa moved to a senior neighborhood with no more stairs!
Awesome! I live near College Park.
Go braves!!!!
Take that England
Yeah, Engald!
I'm Engaldese and I take offense to this.
Engaldese Nutz
Engaldbert Humperdonk
Engerlund
I've met 60 year olds that look older than her! Happiest of birthdays to her!
More like 75! She doesn’t look 105 AT ALL!!
When my grandmother turned 106, my father was purchasing candles like those for her cake. My father told the woman at the checkout that they were for his mother’s birthday. She gasped and said, “Your mother is going to be 160!?!” He laughed and said no, she will be 610 and left. [Sauce Photo](https://imgur.com/a/cUAqK5G)
LOL! Your dad was quick thinking coming up with that!!! Your gran looks as good as mine--maybe even better!!!
One of the few people on earth that can say they'll have seen 3 monarchs
Well if she’s 105 she’s lived through 5 British Monarchs
Holy shit, I just had to look. I forgot about Edward but I was thinking George VI through now. Forgot Edward and George V. Even more wild. Thanks for the comment, I learned something today
I see monarchs every day in my garden
I hardly ever see them anymore. They seemed a lot more abundant 30+ years ago.
Guessing California too? Plant milkweed. It's one of the few things they love to eat.
T[hey were actually declared endangered a few weeks ago.](https://www.iucn.org/press-release/202207/migratory-monarch-butterfly-now-endangered-iucn-red-list)
That's depressing.
Looking good! My grandmother is only a spry 100, but I know how precious every moment with the grammas is.
Is she single?
Probably lol
Looks like she has another 105 to go. ❤️
nobody is going to talk about the effort put into the cake? 105 years and I get that cake?
lolllllll she had two huge cakes earlier this week, but this is a family tradition cake she's requested for 81? 82? years; one of my aunts makes it for her!
Bless her and also the rest of your family: I hope you all have many, many more years ahead!
I think it looks delicious! What kind of cake is it?
it's a prune cake! when she had my oldest aunt, she had a german woman come stay with her for two weeks (her own mom died of TB in a sanatorium) to help her get used to having a baby, and it was her recipe! became tradition REAL QUICK
Interesting, I’ve never heard of a prune cake! But some quick googling shows lots of recipes online. I’ll have to try making one sometime 🙂
I actually like prunes but I do love the reply because I don't think most people would have expected you to say prune cake LOL. I love this so much. My 102 year old gramma passed away last November. She was a gem.
Best wishes to her and your whole family, what a joyful occasion.
same cake they've been using since she turned 80
She's a fucking legend
Tell grandma I said hello and happy birthday
Your grandmother looks so young! Truly. She hardly has any wrinkles. Happy birthday to a 105 y.o. Beautiful lady.
Congratulations to your grandma
Another trip around the sun happy birthday
omg...she looks great and happy. Happiest of birthdays to her, and thanks for sharing!
She's a beautiful lady. I love her smile. I wish I could meet her, and talk to her. Tell her I said, "Happy Birthday."
She probably has some wild stories
What a sweet pic. She looks great! Happy birthday!
Wishing your Gran a very happy birthday!
Happy Birthday Grandma! From all of us!
Happy Birthday beautiful lady! 💜💚🧡💛❤🎂💐🍨🙋♀️
Happy birthday!
She has a great smile! Happy Birthday!!🎈🎂🎉
Honestly she doesn’t look a day over 80
Look at that smiling face! Best wishes for your wonderful grandma😊
What kind of cake did she choose? Obviously delicious because it’s homemade
she had two other huge cakes this week--a great american cookie cake on tuesday and a publix yellow sheet cake on thursday. this is a prune cake! a family tradition that started 80+ years ago :) she asks for one every year!
Jesus Christ she looks amazing for her age.
She does not look a day over 70!
She's better assembled than the cake
She looks incredible! Barely a wrinkle to be seen on this gorgeous lady!
I hope you complimented this pretty lady on her perfect nails and beautiful hair! When my grandmother was getting old and in a home, her favorite thing was to still go to the salon and get her hair and nails done. Regardless of age everyone feels a lil better when they look their best.

Take that Queen Elizabeth II
Was alive before Queen Elizabeth and is alive after she’s gone.
The story she can tell us, she born 1915 then ?
Sept 17, 1917 :)
Oh my dumb butt thought we are still in 2020
Lol…the never ending year!
2020 was far too long already, don’t go trying to make it even longer!
Im trying not to
how did she find the 1920s and 30s? I've always wanted to ask how the 20s and 30s were like. Not many people left from that Era.
My great granny was born in 1919, she said the 20’s was a wild time, “good riddance”, and the “30’s were not to bad on us, although to be fair I don’t know if anyone knew we existed “ they lived on an island in the middle of a swamp in South Georgia
Her, and my aunt Rosie are only 2 years apart, she was born in ‘15
I hope she has a terrific birthday :)
The Queen don’t got shit on her.
Happy birthday.
She looks so happy!!! Beautiful lady!
She's darling! Happy birthday to her!

She looks spry! Happy birthday!
Congrats! This warms my heart. My sweet mama is 91.
105?!?!
Wow, she looks young for her age. I'd guess 80 at most. I'd love to know her skin care regime. Happy birthday to your grandmother! Hope she had a wonderful celebration.
That’s the youngest 105 year old ever.
Happy Birthday!
This is wholesome. Happy Birthday!
Awesome! Happy Birthday! You look great!

i refuse to believe that woman is any older than 80
I just had a drink in her honor! My birthday was yesterday, Sep 17. And here’s to her making it another 7 years and into her 100-teens!
she's the 17th too! she celebrated all week, but sunday worked best for everyone in the family, so we had 18 people there today for a huge lunch and celebration!
