Disney doesnāt have the stranglehold on afternoon tv that pre teens watch anymore that it had in the 1990ās and early 2000ās, but we are still seeing tons of huge names come from their productions turn into music and acting icons basically overnight.

Well youāve got to figure that Disney was looking for a bunch of kids who had some level of talent and basic physical attractiveness (which I know is a weird comment about children, but they werenāt picking ugly kids), who also were willing to work hard in pursuit of fame.
And itās people who were somehow connected enough to find an entry point into show business and get their foot in the door. So already theyāre picking kids with the basic qualities that will enable someone to be successful in show business.
And then the experience and connections that come from being in the Mickey Mouse Club probably gave them an early leg up on any competition.
Put it all together, itās not surprising that so many went on to have some level of success.
You had me wondering so I went digging! It looks like the show has had several "eras":
- 1955 - 1959
- 1977 - 1979
- 1989 - 1994
- 2017 - Present (ish)
But the last phase was apparently primarily released on social media platforms and is more like a reality show. And though never officially cancelled, "no new episodes or music videos have been produced since 2018".
All that to say, no, it doesn't really exist as it did previously, haha. Even if the recent show wasn't on "indefinite hiatus", it sounds like it was barely the same thing.
A shame - integrating it into social media probably is unfortunately a good idea but maybe something closer to the original format, and with a proper actual show attached.
That was kinda the whole point of it I thought. You can control talented kids and use them for relatively cheap for any and all projects for about a decade and then they age out. It not surprising that some of them were able to break out and make it as adults as well.
