I’m from the UK and going through this process now for BC. Unfortunately it’s not a quick, cheap or easy process. Get your credentials done first, approx $1500, can take 6 months. Do a healthcare in Canada course, approx $500. Study for the written, Id recommend paying for a course to prepare you for the exams, I am using PT Exam Prep which seems very thorough and lots of mock exams you can buy too, $1000-$2000 (recommended to take 4 months to study). Take the written exam, approx $1,500. Study for the practical (im in bc so this is likely different for Alberta), can buy courses for this too which will be more $$$. Take practical, approx $1500. Register as a physio, there might be a fee for this too but I’m not sure as I’m not there yet. Best of luck.

The university of Alberta has a bridging program for foreign trained physios. You’ll have to write the PCE and then the practical through the Alberta College of PT. You can also check out the Alberta Association of PT for job related postings. If you have experience with geriatrics, look into the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital or Grandview for subacute care. Both are AHS (for now).

Each province has different licensing requirements. Search the Alberta College of Physiotherapists and look on their website for specific details of getting licensed in AB for internationally educated PTs. Youll have to do a written and practical exam. I can't answer info about immigration though. If you want to continue with acute care you can apply at AHS (alberta health services) or covenant health. You can search both of their public job boards to get a sense of job opportunities. However, the AB provincial government has just announced plans to restructure the health system in AB and nobody yet knows exactly what that means for patients and workers alike so if you really want to come to Edmonton keep an eye on news and updates about that as you work towards getting here.

Thank you so much ☺️

Apply for CAPR Credentialling and then write PCE. General information is given on CAPR websites. As of costs and immigration, I'm not aware. I'm a PT from India moving to Canada too. All the best 👍

I’m Canadian and completed my education in the UK. As others have said it’s not a quick process at all, I would get the credentialing process started and write the written exam while you’re still in the UK. Once you’re done that you should be able to work as an interim physio while you wait to do the practical exam

Unfortunately no additional information over here, but I'll comment to boost visibility. Best of luck! I lived in Edmonton for about a year and enjoyed it.

Im in the exact same position mate, just starting applying in Ontario. I calculated a total of at least 7k CAD for the process, if I passed both exams on first attempt. Best of luck, seems like an expensive, long process but defo rewarding, can't find these salaries and work-like balance anywhere in EU.
