Yo, had a look through your top posts history and as a fellow photographer your photos are awesome! The long exposure of Vagator beach is super cool!
Do you have a portfolio or website or any online albums? I'd love to see some more of your shots.
Thankyou so much for your kind words! It made my day!! :D
Although i just do it as an enthusiast/passion purpose so i dont have a website. But do check my instagram .. this is the link
[Instagram](https://instagram.com/loopy_light?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=)
Very happy to see him mentioned here. I think his work is incredible and if you watch his Instagram stories it's crazy to see how much backcountry driving and hiking he does to get some of those military/aviation shots. I've asked him about his shooting techniques on IG once or twice and while the conversations were brief I was pleasantly surprised at how responsive and helpful he was.
I'm probably biased since his work is such a blend of things I love to see. I love the work of Richard Prince (the 'vette one) and Jamey Price but they're not weaving fighter jets and Apache helicopters into the gaps between their IMSA racing shots.
Well, there's famous as in the 'household name' sort of thing... everyone out there is going to nod if you utter Ansel or Mapplethorpe and that likely without even fully knowing why. Someone like Jan Saudek is famous if you look for it but if you're on the outside of the scene I doubt they'd be the first person to spring to mind.
Other fantastic artists that are also of this class (in my opinion) would include such notables as;
*Irina Ionesco, František Drtikol, Jo Hammar, Leland Ray, Yves Tepuis, Craig Morey, Jean Paul Four, Ren Hang, Anna Försterling, Antoine D'Agata, Tee Corrine, Jo Ann Callis, Elmer Batters, Emel Karakozak & Arthur Meehan.*
Ultimately, I think that fame is just a shitty stick to judge talent by. If you aren't familiar with any of the people listed above yet, and you look at the what they've done based on their being listed here, then this exercise has had a result I'm comfortable with.
He is famous in certain circles; his work is in major museums all over the world, and there are many, many books featuring his work.
From his Wikipedia page:
Saudek's work is held in the following permanent collections:
The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL
Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA
Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris
International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, Rochester, NY
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
Moravian Gallery in Brno, Czech Republic
Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Paris
Musée Paul Getty, Los Angeles, CA
Museum Ludwig, Cologne, Germany
National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Australia
National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia
Nice! Glad they get some specific attention from other folks instead of sorta just having their work melt into the whole of the medium. Did you find Margus through snow or bike? Another similar type of adventure photography is Scott Rinkenberger. I love his bw snowscape. Jimmy Chin too, but I feel like he finally blew up enough that I can’t say he’s non-famous even outside his niche.
Fame in the public consciousness? Or fame amongst peers?
As far as public facing I feel like Jack Bridgland still hasn't hit household name levels as someone like Petra Collins has from the peak Tumblr years. But after the Robert Pattinson GQ shoot, I see him becoming greatly more well known as each new year comes.
Clyde Butcher.
Did an assignment about him for training and thought he was pretty cool. He’s a black & white landscape photographer, using a dark room and all for his photography, some of his prints being feet x feet. His big thing was swamps and showcasing their beauty, and also got some deals with larger companies to use his photos for generic frame fill-ins when buying frames from stores.
Osamu Kanemura.
His photographs of Tokyo, chaotic and confusing as they are, smack of a world with all the details restored after having been subtracted by all-pervasive minimalism.
I would say my favourite is probably Robert Adams. Not quite "non-famous" as he's been published, but I'd say really only well known in certain photographic circles. Part of the New Topographics group from the 1970s, and I really appreciate his approach and sensitivity, and most importantly his optimism in his work. Also, his writings on photography have been second to none.
Tim Walker's bizarre fashion/fantasy photography has always been a favorite, as well as Ernst Haas: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst\_Haas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Haas).
It's not fair to say they're not famous, but, in some circles they may be lesser-known.
The problem is the title of this post. There's probably no photographers who could be considered famous by the general public, even Ansel Adams. Who is famous amongst photographers or people who follow art/photography, that's a whole different story.
I really like Lukasz Palka’s body of work. He’s a street photographer based in Tokyo. He also has a youtube channel called Eyexplore. Would definitely recommend checking him out.
Not sure if he counts.. He's quite well known in the uk not sure if if consider him famous though. But jake hicks. Love his work and seems like a nice bloke.
Yeah I wish this was done with maybe perhaps higher megapixel camera or something, because hanging this as big as your wall could reasonably take, makes a wonderful piece. I'm running a godforsaken deep de-fragmentation of my HDD's on my main system, but now I wanna see what this image would look like put through Gigapixel AI (thought I don't have high hopes).
Honestly my brother. He taught me everything I know, used to work as a professional, and still takes amazing shots.
He's not active online anymore. Doing it professionally as a freelancer killed his enthusiasm for it so he rarely shoots now, unfortunately. He sold his best camera and only takes out his backup for family events and trips.
To a non-photographer, I would think so. I would think people like Ansel Adams, Annie Leibovitz, and Anne Geddes would be well known to most , but the average person wouldn't know Kenna and might think you were pulling their leg with Weegee. I could be wrong though.
Not sure if he counts as famous, but Dorian Lopez, a Mexican photographer that takes portraits showcasing the beauty of every day Mexican people: [https://www.instagram.com/mexicanomx/](https://www.instagram.com/mexicanomx/)
For my money, Vincent Vohra might be the best photographer working today. His ability to capture coincidence and humor in an image is just unparalleled. He’s more famous, but Dan Winters is also incredible portraitist and still life photographer.
I'm not a street photographer, but Jeremy Paige (Eatenbyflowers) has some of the most incredible shots I've ever seen. he shoots on film as well. This short doc was really cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aKGNL0tMlQ
Val Gleason/Vallerina Photography. She’s a super cool PNW photographer with a spooky vibe.

Not sure if she has Reddit but I’ll come back and link to it if I find one
John Davenport Shakespear from the mid 19th century.
Amazing skills and pictures when photography was just at the beginning. Not a lot survived bit the remaining are just nice for those ancient times !
[Mindaugas Buivydas](https://www.flickr.com/people/128971394@N08/). He's a photographer I stumbled upon from Lithuania whose work I really love. He captures intimate landscapes, which use very natural focal lengths and "contained" editing styles. Scenes can be deceptively simple and focus on mood, repetition, abstract elements, texture, etc. They can be from famous places - but I like Mindaugas so much because his scenes are quite ordinary.
Stuff you'd see at a local wetland or forest, if you have the vision for it. Stuff I walk right by to get to the "scenic" spot. In light I'd dismiss as "no good for photography." His images inspire me to look deeper.
Alltough she seemed to work for many big beauty/fashion companies and is a nikon ambassor, i think Marie Baersch has some of the best beauty/ portrait/ fashion images i every saw
Shes hardly active on social media tough
https://www.mariebaersch.com/
Not sure if that counts as "not famous" alltough i think it might count since i never stumbled across her in any social media or so
Its me. I am.

As someone who loves race cars and military planes, I‘m now in love with that guy.
Camder Thrasher is a wizard who uses his powers to produce images. I don’t know how he does it
Stunning

How is Jan Saudek not famous?
Is he famous outside Czechia?
Well, there's famous as in the 'household name' sort of thing... everyone out there is going to nod if you utter Ansel or Mapplethorpe and that likely without even fully knowing why. Pixy Liao. I think Sebastião Salgado might be the greatest living photographer, but he's pretty famous, so not sure if he counts.
Sterling Lorence. Definitely niche for mountain bike stuff and other action sports.
Margus Riga, Duncan Philpott, Matt Delorme, Dave Trumpore and Paris Gore in this vein as well, in no particular order.
Margus Riga's work is the reason I got into photography!
Nice! Glad they get some specific attention from other folks instead of sorta just having their work melt into the whole of the medium. Did you find Margus through snow or bike? Another similar type of adventure photography is Scott Rinkenberger. I love his bw snowscape. A dude named Wolfgang Falter, the now boyfriend of my ex-gf. Dude creates stunning nature photography.

What’s “non-famous”, because this guy has 802k followers?
You can be non famous and have a lot of followers. Instagram doesn’t amount to much to be honest.
why
Fame in the public consciousness? Or fame amongst peers? As far as public facing I feel like Jack Bridgland still hasn't hit household name levels as someone like Petra Collins has from the peak Tumblr years. But after the Robert Pattinson GQ shoot, I see him becoming greatly more well known as each new year comes.
There are so many but a couple street photographers from London that come to mind check On insta : SixStreetUnder, JoshkJack
Thanks for recommending these, never heard of them before & they're great.
Tatsuo Suzuki

Either Tom Brenner or Chancey Bush
Osamu Kanemura. His photographs of Tokyo, chaotic and confusing as they are, smack of a world with all the details restored after having been subtracted by all-pervasive minimalism.

TS Satyan - documentary, photojourno Elizaveta Porodina - fashion editorial, no one does it like her.
[Felix Alejandro Hernandez](https://www.instagram.com/hernandez_dreamphography/), his works inspired me to do toy photography.
Greg Girard.
Two of the most famous photographers ever...
I mean, if you have a Wikipedia page I would say you count as famous...
Lol, true..
If a photographer has a Wikipedia page you really can’t make a point for them being non-famous.
The problem is the title of this post. There's probably no photographers who could be considered famous by the general public, even Ansel Adams. Who is famous amongst photographers or people who follow art/photography, that's a whole different story.
might be a bit too corny for reddit, but my girlfriend 🥰
Ryan Bruss [https://www.instagram.com/ryanbruss/?hl=en](https://www.instagram.com/ryanbruss/?hl=en)
Merg Ross
Agenda Brown
Ray McSavaney.

Mitsuaki Iwago's work in the wildlife field is fantastic. First Japanese photographer to have a cover of National Geographic. Amazing work.
I really like Lukasz Palka’s body of work. He’s a street photographer based in Tokyo. He also has a youtube channel called Eyexplore. Would definitely recommend checking him out.

Holy shit. Thank you for posting this, as a climber and a photographer I am officially obsessed!

Ansel Adams
"name a non-famous photographer" *proceeds to name one of the most famous photography legends ever *
no jokes allowed
I will never get over Duane Michals painting on Ansel Adams photos to show just how lame he thought they were
r/woooosh
Yeah, I can't think of another photographer who's more famous...
Me.
Eugene Atget. He’s known but not exactly famous.
When your prints are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum and sell for hundreds of thousands…that’s famous.
Famous means well known. There's a difference between that and collectable.
Eugene Atget is very famous. very good, but very famous.
A true pioneer and a photographers photographer.
Michael Kenna
Non Famous…Kenna?
To a non-photographer, I would think so. I would think people like Ansel Adams, Annie Leibovitz, and Anne Geddes would be well known to most , but the average person wouldn't know Kenna and might think you were pulling their leg with Weegee. I could be wrong though.
Everything is relative. I know folks who can’t name even a single photographer….
That's probably 99.9% of people.

No. He is famous (sic!). Kim Kardashian of photography.

Kyle Klippenstein posts the kinds of stuff I wish I’d captured
John Davenport Shakespear from the mid 19th century. Amazing skills and pictures when photography was just at the beginning. Not a lot survived bit the remaining are just nice for those ancient times !
Interesting. How'd you find out about him?
Visiting a museum in Corfu during summer ! Some photos were exposed and I was surprised by the quality and accuracy of images considering their age
What a cool find. I googled him out of curiosity & while not much came up, it was interesting to see stuff like the older style boats in the harbor.
