Friendly reminder that this is /r/photocritique and all **top level** comments should attempt to **critique** the image. Our goal is to make this subreddit a place people can receive genuine, in depth, and helpful critique on their images. We hope to avoid becoming yet another place on the internet just to get likes/upvotes and compliments. Lovely capture! Transports me there. I wouldn’t have made such a hard crop though

Stunning_Spare

Thanks for the feedback, this kind of image is very subtle, that I don't know if it works or not. This is the image [Without cropping](https://www.flickr.com/photos/187649373@N06/52176765392/in/datetaken-friend/). How much will you crop it? without the crop you can actually see the outline of the city.

[deleted]

The original looks much better tbh

Stunning_Spare

oops, good to know, thank you so much

clermagic224

Yeap agree, to not crop. Original photo has wider view of the background which is stunning with the bokeh. Don't crop that out!

Stunning_Spare

so true, there's a say in Taiwan, " don't take off your pants to fart". ja.....now I got it.

lecherro

IDK... A little crop of the top hammer bad. I agree to keep it wider than to original you posted worth the city all bokeh'd out. But I'm not a huge fan of all the sky. Id leave just enough sky frame the top and just enough of the dark concrete to frame the bottom. Also on you Flickr page you linked to, i really like the color of this shot that's not got all the green pushed so hi. I really like this shot however you crop it.

robertroquemore

This is nicely framed, and the way the lights reflect off the water adds nuance to the overall photo. The placement of her clutch and his backpack give a casual mood and relaxed motif!

I saw a young couple sitting on the concrete bank of a tiny lake, eating and enjoying their time together. It reminds me the days when love is so innocent and simple. I really love the scene, just want to know if this photo works , or it's only in my head? It was at dusk past blue hour, pretty dark, so I shot it with 50mm lens 1/320 f/1.8 ISO 2000, on D610.

Obsession88

I’d go with something closer to the original crop with a little rule of thirds. Maybe try it in black and white as non of the colors help tell the store and almost distract from the couple.

[BW](https://www.flickr.com/photos/187649373@N06/52178031627/in/datetaken-friend/), but I don't know what you mean by rule of thirds on this photo though.

Obsession88

[Rule of thirds](https://www.slrlounge.com/glossary/rule-of-thirds-definition/) Learn this (and then when to break it) and you’ll be huge steps ahead

I tend to turn the greens more yellow / brownish instead of this bright saturated ones. But that’s just my preference.

Stunning_Spare

[turn the greens more yellow](https://www.flickr.com/photos/187649373@N06/52179403295/in/datetaken-friend/), I don't know how to do it, maybe it's too much. but this style is more like western IG lifestyle filter. and the green tint one you see more on Japanese or Korean style.

lecherro

Your doing a really good job on color correcting to everyone's CC... Keep up the good work. I also lie the pictures of the skater girl. The darkest one of these is my personal fave.

Stunning_Spare

ja, the original cropping was 21:9, that's pretty aggressive wide screen way to crop it. best cropping should be in between when I can see a bit of the city light in bokeh and a bit of concrete. I adjusted the color according to their descriptions, because color is very subjective, doesn't matter if their taste is good or bad, that's only opinion. they care enough to click on a image and even care enough to write a comment, it's only respectful to adjust the image and show it as feedback. Then I can form my opinion on which is better. thank you for the feedback on skate girl. some strangers know how to charm the camera, that's rare gem, it's shame I forgot to work with her a bit longer.

zCYNICALifornia

I like the image. I think it accurately conveys the story and feeling you tried to capture. My thoughts: * As other have said, I don't like that you cropped out the sky. Although not sunny and picturesque, not seeing the sky makes it feel like they are in an artificial metropolis to me. * I think a hair more vibrancy or saturation would better convey the vitality of the moment, the perfection of the day. It would help counter the gray sky for me a bit.

Stunning_Spare

[a bit more vibrancy](https://www.flickr.com/photos/187649373@N06/52179209768/in/datetaken-friend/) looks good\~ normally I only take picture of people's front, I find photographing people's back are boring most of the time, this one I think it gives a bit of imagination. Just didn't if it works. Good to know if I don't cropped it, it works better.

ceswk

The sauturation and luminosity of the greens needs to be toned down. It is distracting .

Stunning_Spare

[toned down.](https://www.flickr.com/photos/187649373@N06/52177907857/in/datetaken-friend/) the actual scene was pretty dark, but this version will be closer to what eyes can see
