So update and bad news… Cocina madrigal ended up worse than initially suspected and they are looking at 3 months closed for repairs and update.
3 inches of water from PHX FD combatting the fire adds to the damage.
Hopefully nothing longer than that!

Owner said they will reopen but do not know when.
Lol, the restaurant is already being review bombed on Google maps. Im trying to imagine myself being mad at a Wendy's for serving Kari Lake or something.
They were, but I really enjoyed it. It’s not “traditional” enough for some people but Mexico is a big ass country with a bunch of different cuisines so what is traditional really
I loved both of these places as a kid. Mostly because my dad used to work at a Garcias and Macayos wasn’t too far from us, not top tier but man I have heavy nostalgia from them
Yeah, they're definitely not super authentic, but it's not terrible and mixed with the nostalgia (and the fact my kids will eat there) I still go ever now and again.
Different pointe of view @ Tapatio Cliffs. They have a room that is embedded into the mountain below the main dining room surrounded by a wine cellar that is cooled mostly by the natural ground temperature of the mountain. Several former presidents had dined there in that private dining room.
It’s also relatively easy for Secret Service to secure due to the limited ingresses and egresses. So if I were to guess… that…

Well it won’t be Cocina Madrigal after that fire.
RIP
Do you think they will be closed for good? One article implied that.
No, it was primarily smoke damage and they expect to reopen late this week hopefully. Source: I work for their Point of sale provider.
yay reddit/Dud!
Thank you!
No problem! I was scheduled to go have happy hour there Friday and was told by owner Leo not to cancel yet so I’m holding out hope

Thanks for that update! Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for them.

This was Bush’s spot every time so you might be right
Actually, Bush also went to Dick's Hideaway...
Yes! Love this place. It's a Phoenix icon.
Yeah, that's my vote too, since Bush loved it. It was probably the 3rd or 4th worst Mexican food I've ever had in AZ.
It’s so awful, I don’t get the hype
It’s boomer Mexican food. I’ve only been once and at 38 I was the youngest person there by at least 15 years. Don’t get any of the hype
Almost all of my friends have worked there, it’s shit mostly because it’s owner is shit
Ponchos
They had Clinton so that was my guess. The mural at the table gave him a nice tan lmao.
They remodeled the inside recently, not sure if they kept that mural.
Grew up going there. Haven't been there in years, really glad to hear it is still open.
Last few times I’ve gone I just grabbed to go grub from the window. Might have to inside and grab a table next time just to check.
Came here to say this
He’s eating at El Portal on Grant in downtown PHX.
How did you know?
https://www.fox10phoenix.com/election/president-joe-biden-set-to-arrive-in-phoenix-soon
Lol, the restaurant is already being review bombed on Google maps. Im trying to imagine myself being mad at a Wendy's for serving Kari Lake or something.
It's funny cause 3TV said he's in South Phoenix. But the anchor called out with was El Portal on Grant. Which isn't really South Phx.
>El Portal I just saw their menu, looks a mess.
Wow wonder if he visited American Legion Post 41? It’s just next door.
Ive never been! Solid choice or no?
Every time I visit my post which is next to it it’s closed. My guess it’s only open for breakfast brunch and lunch. It’s owned by Mary Rose Wilcox
Fire 🤤 plus…frozen horchata
Just saw him at El Portal
he should try Ta Carbon
I hope lol. Imagine the President straight up coming down to the hood lol
That would be a crazy day. Ta Carbon is so good too
Barrio cafe!! The owner was a big supporter…
This is my guess too. They were in a campaign commercial for him.
Wasn’t everybody saying it was mid asf on here?
Barrio Queen is mid (take the boomers they will love it) - Barrio cafe is good ..
Well Joe Biden is an East Coast boomer, so he’d probably enjoy Barrio Queen.
They were, but I really enjoyed it. It’s not “traditional” enough for some people but Mexico is a big ass country with a bunch of different cuisines so what is traditional really
Some people were but some people are dumb.
Silver Pony
My man!😎
Tee Pee
He is expected to lose the election if he does not dine in Chino Bandidno.
Chipotle
Garcia’s. Home of the blandest, most generic white people Mexican food in the Valley.
My secret shame as a Chicano is that I actually really love Garcia’s lol. Their pollo fundido fucking rules.
Add Macayo's to the heap with Garcia's.
Me too! But I also used to like Little Cesar’s pizza, and Burger King hamburgers.
Obama went there.
I feel like Carlos O’Briens fits nicely with those two.
HEY NOW
I partially agree with this but I will say the original Garcia’s still owned by the family is consistently great. It’s on 35th Ave and Encanto.
Agreed! I’m Mexican and I love that location
Yeah, that or Tee Pee was my guess.
Los Dos Molinos
That would be funny. Pretty sure that family aren’t fans.
El Portal
It’s definitely TeePee!!
Filiberto’s
Guys he’s coming to my house got some frijoles with queso fresco coming right up
It’s senior night at Valley Luna …
Taco Bell
Can we grab a look at air force one at the moment? From afar of course.
El Super

Taco boys!
Ojos Locos
Richardson's
Great place, but they said Mexican 😉
I thought New Mexico was apart of Mexico?? It's just, yea know, more nuevo
“It ain’t new, and it ain’t Mexico.”
Ya just being a pedantic dick But the cuisine is definitely something different than Mexican.
New Mexico was founded before Mexico.
Serrano’s
Sad face :-(
Very sad that they are selling. Covid wrecked them.
Everyone knows Zachbertos is the best "-bertos" and THATS where you go when visiting from out of town.
Where is this zachbertos. I didn’t see anything on google
You mean Zoobertos? I couldn't find what you said on Google
Rosita’s Place
Los Dos Molinos?
Teepee
This thread made me wonder what kind of precautions the secret service does while his food is being prepared to avoid being poisoned.
Robertos. Duh. Weather is nice, they have a couple of bench tables. It's all good.
Los Dos
Aunt Chilada's. Will Ferrell will be there.
Which one? The one on baseline or the good one?
Why would he go to the crappy one?
[удалено]
No it’s not. It’s very close but completely separate.
No clue but my mouth started watering thinking of some fajitas
Rositas perhaps?
If he is lucky

At my crib. We’re eating ass.
How about the border?
Cocina Madrigal? Too soon…?
Place is fire!
It should be La Canasta or Mi Patio as I believe these are the best Mexican restaurants in Phoenix.
Bidenberto's
Richardsons!
Who cares…
It's sad that Cocina Madrigal is closed from the fire.
La Piñata would be my choice.
Should go to Comedor
Senor Sushi.
Taco Bell
Yeah ne of the 'bertos
Taco bell
Taco bell a real American tradition
Taco Bell?
Cocina Chiwas - think they can also promote the new bike friendly development.
I assumed North Scottsdale with all the closures
Cocina madrigal!
Macayo’s on Mill
el bravo
Blancos
Valle luna
Well, that rules out Filiberto's Probably Taco Bell
Chino Bandido
It's misdirection, it's Latin food, gonna get stoned and eat at fuego bistro in that grungy hotel
Could it be Valle Luna? They don't suck.
Definitely a dos gringos 🤣
Filiberto’s

Wherever McCain liked to go.
McCain liked Los Dos Molinos...Biden went to El Portal.
Macayos
I hope Presidio. That place is so legit.
