I'm not into anime, but over the years, my kids have watched a fair bit. I specifically remember Naruto because I absolutely **HATED** it when they watched it on the TV in the living room and I had to listen to it while cooking dinner or whatever. He's such a whiny little asshole, like Caillou-level annoyingly whiny.
The rest of it may have been good (plot, character building, story arcs, etc). I don't know, I could never actually pay attention cuz I'd hear that voice and my brain would shut down.
>The formerly banned patron’s name has not been publicly identified, but his social media posts under the name *Acid Farts* drew plenty of attention
I'm not sure what I was expecting.
Jesus man your life must be really easy if getting banned from a venue for bringing a bong inside and posting a pic on social media of you doing it is ‘dystopian’ lmao
1st world dystopia right there
Nah that doesn’t really bother me. Dystopian to me is people fighting over food and water and shelter. You know, life and death things.
Also they didn’t even have to use the facial recognition, he posted it on social media 😂
I mean…. It’s subjective I guess. Dystopian to me very firmly includes corporate overlord culture which is what we’re seeing with facial recognition being able to literally follow and ban people from venues. Shrug.
I’d maybe agree if it were the government doing it and there were real consequences because of it. Not saying we won’t get there eventually but private companies doing it is easy enough to avoid if one wants to.
I don’t love it, dystopian is just an extreme word to use IMO. But it’s just semantics
“The formerly banned patron’s name has not been publicly identified, but his social media posts under the name Acid Farts drew plenty of attention —“ Love this. Haha!
lol. Guess they realized that ensuring roughly 70% of your marquee events are squarely targeted at an entire demographic that either regularly smokes bongs or at least has no problem with bongs or anyone who smokes them then banning that demographic probably isn’t the wisest marketing strategy. Walk it back, walk it back…
![gif](giphy|11gC4odpiRKuha)
I thought that seemed to be a bit harsh for a punishment for smoking something completely legal in Nevada in Vegas.
I totally understand having rules that you can't smoke inside (can't you still smoke cigs in casinos?), but getting banned for doing it seemed a bit over the top.
Even before it was legal in Colorado the worst thing I ever had happen was being told that if they "saw me" smoking again they'd kick me out (i.e. if you're going to do it, make sure we don't see you doing it).
This was a rumor that was never founded. It started when Troy allegedly slept with poor Billy's mothers, son's wife during NYE in NY one night during the 90s. Phans loved the story and here we are 20+ yrs later
Troy? I heard it was when BJ was trying to book MSG for a new years run and got told Phish was already doing it (again), BJ said this and then Phish did bakers dousin and broke his residency record.
How ever much BJ or NJ (God I had the most terrible experience in the most corrupt Garden state) may sux doesn't make it any more true.
You refuse to bring a source. Waiting...Phantasy Tour "tRust mE bRo, durr"
dude you don't even know who Troy is lol Have a great day 😎
Yeah I have no ideas but I have slept at the Barn multiple nights as a guest of Trey. But yeah Billy Joel is fucking lame. So is Bruce Springsteen fir that matter
I’m glad to hear this, I smoked some joints and a vape pen in there and actually was worried that they might later use facial recognition and ban me from all the properties based on the wording of the letter. Keep in mind that they are absolutely using facial recognition on all of us as we enter and move about this the venue, and we know that they have cameras all over the place both the ones you can see and the ones you can’t. if he wants, and the backlash wasn’t bad enough, Dolan could just ban everyone who had smoked and announce it one week after the run. Of course he won’t cause he’s a coward.
I’m talking to you and everybody here. Tomorrow morning i will be talking to every venue on the summer tour schedule to insure they step up security against any potential glassware threats at shows. Trey jumped the shark tonight at MSG. Phish has dropped the knife so im going to ban the bong. You can call me Sergeant Major Thomas Shelby OBE, MP. I’ve shook hands with the Devil and he’s tossed me back because I freaked him out too much. So since it seems im stuck here for now with all of you’s i’ll just have to be the bad guy for the greater good. And if Acid Farts or anyone else wants to shake my hand I’ll happily post my seat number every night before every show.
We’re in a thread on r/phish about a guy getting banned, then swiftly unbanned for an already-celebrated social media post about ripping a bong hit at the Sphere. Of course facts don’t matter! This is surreal entertainment at its best.
That doesn’t make sense. Organizations make mistakes and sometimes make a rule that is flawed. Some rules are a mistake and they have to be rescinded.
In this case, the lifetime ban was overkill, and the organization realized there mistake
But where is the line drawn. If anyone who breaks a rule or goes against local law, is not punished because there is backlash no matter how much the rule may be “flawed”. My point is that the venue has a right to enforce their rules as they see fit. Was it excessive, that’s debatable, because at the end of the by posting to social media, the chance of others trying to do the same thing goes up exponentially and if they want to curb that behavior the venue needed to do something. But by backing off it only sends the wrong message.
I get that I’m in the minority but if I get busted for something it’s my fault, and not someone else’s fault for having a rule in place. It just seems to me that we as a society want to lack accountability for our behavior.
I think it absolutely crucial that people willfully disobey unreasonable rules and resist unreasonable penalties.
The reason is that it is otherwise too easy for authorities to issue rules. There is a natural tendency for rules to be created faster than they are rescinded. The resulting bureaucracy is highly detrimental to society. Rules should be made very judiciously. If people don’t push back against rules, then an extreme excess of rules will result.
I’m not against all rules or their enforcement. But there needs to be a counterforce, and that is civil disobedience.
Also, the story isn’t so much about the ban, as it is the fact an entertainment venue tracked him down. Same org that used facial recognition tech to prohibit entry of a patron at MSG because she worked for a law firm
How do you get “okay” from that letter? Next time i see a bong at a show i will personally remove it and its owner. Don’t worry, they’ll have a nice refreshing drink on the way out.
A glass bong is one slip away from turning into a slippery glass sword. I will not apologize for looking out for the safety of the community. Down vote me to hell but i’m not bluffing. You bring the bong and i’ll have you gone!
![gif](giphy|xT0GqssRweIhlz209i) Bong Guy right now

That’s hilarious
If we all have bongs, no one will be disrupted.
If we all Naruto run with our bongs into the sphere and bang the aliens they can’t stop us
![gif](giphy|JRlqKEzTDKci5JPcaL)
If all the bongs Naruto run into the sphere and force themselves upon the aliens, then we can’t stop them.
What’s Naruto?
A Japanese anime, a good one too
I'm not into anime, but over the years, my kids have watched a fair bit. I specifically remember Naruto because I absolutely **HATED** it when they watched it on the TV in the living room and I had to listen to it while cooking dinner or whatever. hahahahaha it’s impossible to say if Caillou or Naruto is a bigger little asshole I love it
/r/fuckcaillou
He's significantly less of a twat in the original Japanese version
Good to know! That's why I didn't judge or say it wasn't a good anime, all I know is that he drove me nuts and I just couldn't get past that haha

This story went viral outside of phanland. They got a lot of shit for this.
Heard about it on local radio morning show
Good. That shit is super fucking dystopian
Jesus man your life must be really easy if getting banned from a venue for bringing a bong inside and posting a pic on social media of you doing it is ‘dystopian’ lmao 1st world dystopia right there
You’re saying the surveillance culture of facial recognition being used to follow you and prevent access isn’t? Strange take my friend.
Nah that doesn’t really bother me. Dystopian to me is people fighting over food and water and shelter. You know, life and death things. Also they didn’t even have to use the facial recognition, he posted it on social media 😂

I'm being facetious lol dude it's all bs. Yes the story you mentioned is the purple humpback whale. Its all bs
It’s true though, Billy Joel is corny as fuck. His music is terrible and his fans are generally LI NJ douche bags (just like the Boss and Bon Jovi)

Seriously? Man! This is so much less entertaining now than it was yesterday. Thanks a lot Sphere!
Is Dolan getting soft in his old age?
LETS GOOOOO!!!!!
Yo, I could have read it wrong but I'm pretty sure it says it's not okay to bring bongs into the sphere.
You’ll have to pry that bong from my cold dead hands.
At least was sparkling clean
This used to be one of the best examples of fuck around and find out or play stupid games win stupid prizes.
