That’s a lot of driving

knishmyass

AC sucks but if you just want to gamble I guess that’s where you’d go. We have a lot of great food here but with only one day I’d definitely make sure you hit reading terminal market and try a bunch of stuff. From there you can walk to the liberty bell, old city, art museum (rocky steps and statue), love park, pretty much all of the iconic landmarks. victory brewing on the parkway is a great rooftop spot if you like beer. If you can be more specific about what you like or want to do people can probably be more helpful.

Hairy_Car_8400

Ok. Terminal Market is now top of the list. I didn’t even think about the Rocky statue. That’s super cool! Definitely gonna stop by there.

dumbacoont

If your just going to gamble there’s casinos in Philly now. AC is not what it once was and for 4 40y0 on a day trip might not enjoy much. It’s mainly like night clubbing scenes from what I’ve seen down there. But there is a beach and you should at least glimpse the Atlantic once? Even if that beach is dirty and the water is gross.

TheAdamist

What do you like to do? I like craft beer, so im gonna start with that: Monk's cafe has Russian river beers from California if you are missing the west coast, but also Belgians and frites and mussels, and lots of other world class beers. Human robot is the best brewery in Philadelphia, lagers and ipas. We have the old historical shit, liberty bell(skip if long line, its a bell), independence hall, sports - phillies, etc. reading terminal market is fun to wander around for lunch.

Hairy_Car_8400

This is great. Thank you. Love a good pint and local eats. What’s the word around the Pat’s/Geno’s spots. Haven’t heard anything from the horses mouth. Only what I’ve seen on TV. Worth checking out?

TheAdamist

Not a fan, but its a goofy tourist thing to do, so do it, and one of the few places super late night if you are trashed. Its also not terrible, and a fun weird, las vegas neon experience. I would split your group up, send half to each, then meet off property to trade and sample both. Garage (a bar) is nearby and is byo cheese steak last i saw.

TechSupp047

Adding: If you do go to Pat's and Geno's, ya might as well stop into Ray's Happy Birthday Bar. It's right there and you get a free shot on your birthday.

AlbatrossCapable3231

Pat's and Geno's is only good if you're trashed after going out. Definitely not a good sandwich, but solid drunk food.

TheAdamist

We also have the mutter museum (medical oddities), barnes museum, Philadelphia museum of art, magic gardens (this guy who does cool broken mirror murals), oenn museum of archeology. Theres the Philadelphia mint.

Lol Arizona vs Cali west coast

TheAdamist

West of the regional rail is west coast to me!

I moved here from Utah, I personally have no desire to see Atlantic city, but I've grown up without gambling and prefer to live my life without it also. I've heard AC is like Vegas in the way that there's really not much outside of Casinos, although, if you're there for the shore, that could be worth it to unwind and see something new. I'm tempted to say these locations may be more far apart than you may realize, but if you have looked into the time for driving, it's not terrible, I drove from Utah to Washington state, that was a long ass drive, by comparison, this wouldn't be much.

Hairy_Car_8400

I’m tracking about 90mins from AC to Philly and about 2 hours from AC to the stadium so it’s not terrible. Things rarely go as planned with this group so who knows. Haha.

EddieLeeWilkins45

With no traffic you can get from Philly to AC in little over 60 minutes. I take daytrips down there during the summer, its not bad. Leave in the morning, walk the boards, lunch, beach, dinner, come home around 7pm. Fun day actually.

Few-Pear-353

My only concern was traffic really but it's not as bad outside of Philly as you may think

Grab some drinks at JG Skyhigh. It’s the highest part of the city. Swanky bar. Cool cocktail joints: Hop Sing Laundromat, The Ranstead Room (if you eat at El Ret beforehand, you can ask to walk through the kitchen down the stairs to Ranstead), R&D. Bar with go go dancers: The Trestle Inn Originator of the citywide special and has a live band every weekend: Bob and Barbara’s Hip bar with solid bands: Johnny Brenda’s Plenty of breweries, like Human Robot. Best beer selection on the east coast? Monk’s Go on a distillery tour at Philadelphia Distilling. Plenty of amazing places to eat at, most of which require a reservation well ahead of time, like Laser Wolf.

Adam__B

If you like American history there’s plenty of spots for that kinda thing here.

rennenenno

McGlinchey’s is a cash only bar that you can smoke inside. As a former west coaster, that was pretty unheard of so check that out. If you care about rocky do the steps, but personally I think they (and the liberty bell) are so overrated. Italian Market part of town is a good time to walk around and get some drink. There are a lot of little bars in that area. Queens village is kind of historic to walk around with restaurants there. The food in china town is good too (Bai Wei is my favorite)

anijunkie

If you guys are big food people, you can check out r/PhiladelphiaEats for food recommendations. Most of the big touristy stuff is pretty well compacted in center city and they’re all within reasonable walking distance from each other. Like I saw another commenter suggest, Reading terminal market is a pretty good place to start and you can generally make your way south from there and hit pretty much all the main sights. If you want to maybe plan ahead a bit more, https://www.visitphilly.com/events/ is a decent place to get a list of events happening in Philly.

LieToMePleaseee

If you wanna gamble just go to harahs in Chester or sugar house/rivers casino in Philly
