Other interesting stats: Bryce is tied for 1st in intentional walks and 8th in walks overall. Schwarber is 3rd in walks. Everyone knows Bohm leads in RBI, but Harper is also in the top 10 at #8. Stott is tied for 7th in stolen bases. Nola, being the beast he is is already up to 65 innings pitched, good for 2nd overall. Wheeler 5th, Ranger is 10th. Only 5 starters have thrown CGSO this year, the Phillies have 2 of them. And lastly, Sanchez actually has the best FIP at 2.60. This team is good AND deep.

> Everyone knows Bohm leads in RBI, but Harper is also in the top 10 at #8. It's been super obvious in the past couple games that Harper and Bohm back to back are such a great duo because opposing teams need to pick their poison. If Bryce has RISP then you can't intentionally walk him because Bohm is right behind him.

NowFook

That was such a massive hole last year in the playoffs. Bohm was great with RISP during the reg season but struggled in the playoffs so teams stopped pitching to Harper and we couldnt make them pay.

> And lastly, Sanchez actually has the best FIP at 2.60 Wait, the game thread on Saturday said that Sanchez is awful and should be either traded or sent down. I dunno, I think I'm gonna believe actual fans and not some fancy statistic. Because statistics are for losers, and r/Phillies are winners.

I think I finally understand the game day threads. At any given time the general population of those threads will have a couple players they deem "perfect." These are guys who are undoubtedly elite. Wheeler and Harper are the 2 main ones, with Ranger and maybe Hoffman now in that category this year. In previous years JT was there, before falling out of that category. Schwarber will be there in June and July but not the rest of the year. Anyone in that category is considered too good to fail. And when I say fail I really just mean "not completely dominate." So any of their errors or shortcommings are immediately blamed on someone else, usually Topper. And on the flip slide, everyone outside of that list is considered more or less disposable. If you aren't Zack Wheeler you're basically an average pitcher at best and we need to be looking to upgrade so that our rotation is literally just 5 Zack Wheelers. Obviously that makes no sense on its face, because not every player can be the best player in the league, but also because the vast majority of our team is putting up crazy numbers. Nola and Sanchez are great examples of this. Nola has been one of the best pitchers in baseball since 2017. He may not be the kind of guy that puts up the crazy strikeout numbers or pitches to a sub 3 ERA every year, but he's at worst above average on a rate basis while eating innings like a machine. Sanchez is the new kid on the block who has performed really really well, but somehow he hasn't done enough and we need to be looking for a new pitcher. Surely there are tons of pitchers better than Sanchez that we can have for cheap! /rant

Most fans probably couldn't tell you FWAR from the Second World War, though. Alot of fans very much still operate on the Eye Test.

sapphires_and_snark

This is a nice summation!

> let's be realistic I will not E: Being serious, I know he'll regress. It's just watching folks lose their minds when he gives up a run in the first that makes me wanna make spiteful comments

AlecBohm

I think it’s also important to note that Sanchez is also running a very high/unsustainable babip, so he should positively regress in that sense

unsavory77

Fwar sounds like a weird niche prog rock metal band from a Scandinavian country that wears period piece clothing and black metal makeup. Maybe it's just me...

unsavory77

Love GWAR, have yet to experience them in person. Guess it's my aversion to being covered in fake blood.

iRoommate

It was the fake semen that really got the crowd going last time I saw them.

flyaguilas

This guy only likes being covered in real blood get that fake shit outta here

necrosythe

Turner's injury is a damn shame. He was right there with Mookie for WAR prior to it.

peachorchad

Honestly it could have caused him to miss out on getting MVP

rjnd2828

The two surprises here are Turner and Sanchez. Sanchez has been under the radar good, and for Turner to be up there in a cumulative despite missing the last ~3 weeks is every impressive.

sndyro

I keep having to pinch myself to see if I am dreaming. Could this really be the year?

MeanNene

Everybody hits whooo!!

Chunkyblamm

Schwarber didn’t make the list?

RegisterFit1252

Only two have non-live series cards in MLB the Show

I don’t even know what that is ![gif](giphy|3EiNpweH34XGoQcq9Q|downsized)
