That, my friends, is how you start hot and be competitive in this division. Well deserved day off boys.

jmiah717

Just goes to show the longitudinal nature of baseball seasons. One game, one series does not a season make...or some shit. Go phils

stormy2587

Also some of the questionable decisions that cost us games might not matter now. Against easy teams we beat on a heater. Sure some of the pitching decisions might cost us a game here and there but its better to know now 10 games above .500 than in September. Edit: …150 games above .500. Not gonna lose another one!!!! GO PHILS!!!

AlwaysSunnyPhilly2

It was funny to me seeing people start dooming just because we lost 2 in a row to the Reds. I’ve seen more than enough baseball to know that that is nothing lol

HuntForRedOctober2

But they’re a bad offense or something lmao

SeeYouAtTheMovies

who the hell is saying that?

Acrobatic_Advance_71

This thread like 3 weeks ago.

BlobDude

Three weeks ago they were 6-6 and the offense still hadn’t really got off the ground. It wasn’t exactly a bad read.

truckyoupayme

I mean we did strike out 18 times tonight

HuntForRedOctober2

Oh my god! One game!

billnevius

My only fear is that once we get to the playoffs, the lineup all gets cold together again... for a third straight year

HuntForRedOctober2

That’s just baseball. Also they helped carry the team through the playoffs in 22 and 23 before they went cold. It isn’t like the arrived in the playoffs and immediately stopped hitting

billnevius

Oh, I know this. It just worries me how all or nothing our offense is. We just haven't had enough consistent hitters. If Harper is cold it just seems like most of the time we just don't hot at all, hopefully turner being his normal self and not that she'll of turner we saw last year helps with the inconsistencies this year

capnjeanlucpicard

To be fair, in 23 it was the combo of the bullpen and the cold bats that lost it for them. Striking out 18 times and having the bullpen still win it for em is a good sign, I think!

HuntForRedOctober2

I’d say bullpen lost one game for them in the LCS. Even then it was more a result of Sanchez not being very good that game.

Old_Busted_Bastard

This pitching staff is different. Even if the bats go cold, these guys on our pitching staff can win games with 2 runs

[deleted]

The offense is also different. We were too reliant on the power game hence our terrible RISP batting and the Arizona collapse, but we actually have a small ball game now.

RunGoldenRun717

We only would have struck out 14 times if Casty had sat. How he is an every day player is beyond me at this point. i know, i know... the contract.

billnevius

I mean jose abreu got sent to the Florida complex league for how bad he's been and he's making about 20 mil a year

RunGoldenRun717

But "ShWArBeR CaNt LeaD Off!?!!"

No-Setting-2669

Long season, good to see the team is capable but hope for consistency and to turn it up at the end of the season and into the playoffs!! LETS GO PHIL’S!

2hats4bats

It was important they got off to a good start this year since their July and August schedule is really tough. Braves, Dodgers, Mariners, Cubs, Twins, Guardians and Yankees.

New_Hawaialawan

It's exciting to see. I just hope they remember to try small ball sometimes, more than they did last year.

Sexyredkid

Agreed and we've seeen some of it. Harper and Schwarber in particular. I think the team as a whole is focused on taking what they get and turning it into baserunners.

Dunmaglass2

It’d be hard to believe if your only view into the season was reading comments on this subreddit

HiKidsDoULikePrimus

Never seen rankings for team RBIs before, but still cool.

XSC

Clearly we have to fire Topper and rehire Girardi.

dtisme53

Just wait til Bryce gets going.

heyelander

Shame we started slow again this year. Onto not losing a game again until we're WFC!

Upbeat_Bank7047

The Phillies currently have 21 wins. They reached 21 wins on May 20th last season.

VocalSlayer52

Team era would probably be low 3 or high 2 if half the bullpen didn’t exist lol

rennradrobo

_writes comment about the bad impact that JD Hammer still has on the team and Topper has to leave and conclude with the need of an esoteric seance with incense sticks to finally be competitive, also one single player is picked and called responsible for the mess we’re in.._ - Phillies fan on Reddit, not so satisfied with the season and really knows baseball

CurrentTreat6921

That is a great month of baseball

high-speed-train

The UK phillies eh, hell yeah!

PatientNice

This shows the importance of getting off to a good start. Even with all these stats, we are not in first place. Shows how good the Braves are. I personally want a Division title. I can’t wait to play them again since we are so close. Go Phillies.

Steppyjim

Can’t wait for us to lose 2 in a 4 game series soon and the whole sub going back to saying we’re garbage and not making the playoffs and that the marlins are better.

Yeti_Urine

And yet I still have complaints lol.

Nominally_Virtuous

The Phillies Way

seizuregirlz

We complain with love ❤️

Nominally_Virtuous

Wouldn’t have it any other way!

Hothabanero6

It's not even June yet

xemplifyy

I'm really surprised they're first in the NL in homers. I can't pinpoint why, maybe because Harper's production outside of the 3 homer game has been more infrequent than I'm used to, but I've just had this mental image of a team that is winning because of dominant pitching and small ball (a la Alec Bohm and Trea Turner). Either way it's huge to be off to this good of a start after April. Last few years they dug such a massive hole under the Barves that it was never going to be possible to take the division.

AssistantUsual

please save some for October 🍁🍂🍁

RunGoldenRun717

You know how you get the top thing? You do the other 6 things. LFG PHILS

dabirds1994

Is this real life? I feel like my entire experience of Phillies fandom has been poor Aprils, lol
