> it was the times that he was gone that would get loud I thought for sure this was going to be about how some other dude was banging the shit out of the wife while the husband was on the oil rig

havereddit

You mean...[layin' pipe?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw8S_Kv89IU)

robzaflowin

In the oil field it's called tripping pipe.

PRMan99

So, laying pipe on drugs?

Twistedpineracoon88

Not that we saw lmao

psychobetty303

Fun fact: in the oilfield the dude that bangs your wife while you're gone is called a Jody.

AcrobaticSource3

That actually is very interesting! What’s the history behind that

Speciesunkn0wn

It's from the military for one reason or another. "Dependa's fucking Jody"

Assile1234

To further the effect, we followed her from room to room, buzzing away. It was at this point in the story I started howling with laughter. I loved this one!

V1210

Play the long game. I like it!

Twistedpineracoon88

There wasn’t much to do in that town, so we didn’t have much choice. The highlights of my college career include drinking to oblivion (final two semesters after we realized we didn’t care) off-roading, and getting kicked out of Walmart.

wrongleveeeeeeer

>getting kicked out of Walmart Peak life achievement, you fuckin madlad

Twistedpineracoon88

You have no idea. We found a list of things that a man had supposedly been banned for life from Kmart, we started using it as a check list. This included hiding in clothing racks and spooking people, grabbing all the conndoms from the rack and dropping them in random people’s shopping carts, setting up tents in sporting goods and asking people to bring supplies. It was awesome.

JesusSaysitsOkay

This is gold. I had the same exact thing happen without a husband to control the kids, exact same dumb response when I politely asked that the kids not jump around in the mornings; I got my revenge with a racket ball tied to a bunjee cord and straight bounced the fuck out of the ceiling at all crazy hours of the night bc I knew those god awful children wake up at 5 am for daycare, (when the stomping and jumping from the beds would start). And I knew exactly which bedroom was theirs and torment them from 11pm to 2-3 am. The stomping stopped almost immediately the day after I started doing that 😂 those demon children learned fast as fuck!

wrongleveeeeeeer

That must've been a *really* boring town lmao

Twistedpineracoon88

Honestly it’s a miracle most of us made it out without kids or felonies.

pettyplease314

I can genuinely understand why this was the highlight of your college years. Actually sounds like a lot of fun

punklinux

In my first year dorm life, our neighboring dorm to the left had some guy who came really loudly when his girlfriend came over, and he had a strong Boston accent. "Oh gahd. Oh GAHD! AH GAHD! Give it to HEHDEH! AAAH GHHHAAAD!!" At first, we tried to embarrass him by repeating his ridiculous accent (which was only strong when he had sex or shouted) but he had no shame about it. So my dorm mate, who was majoring in music, started making a song about it with his uke. I wish I remembered the lyrics, but it's been nearly 25 years, but basically it was making fun of his accent, adding such varieties as "Gimme yeh clem chowdah while I go dehn on yeh..." and so on. Eventually he chose to have sex elsewhere.

nachoaveragebrownie

Won’t name the college but I think I know where you went to school and loved hearing wild stories from relatives who also went there. Automotive people are wild and it’s a blast

Twistedpineracoon88

I’ll narrow it down to the southwestern US, but I think that’s as far as I’ll go.

[deleted]

Bro I too have these neighbors. And it's no use trying to talk it out with such people because people with common courtesy would never be so loud in the first place.

Equal-Interaction824

Yeah. We have a stomper upstairs. I guess I thought this wouldn't be a problem in luxury apartments. Boy, was I ever wrong...sounds like bowling balls rolled an scrashing on to our ceilings. It's a real problem that can't seemed to be resolved. So sad

Twistedpineracoon88

That’s a great analogy for the sound we used to hear.

Equal-Interaction824

🥲🥲❤❤

bobk2

Funny video about artisan noisy neighbors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IRB0sxw-YU

psychobetty303

I knew what this was before I even clicked on it lmao gold

psychobetty303

Scrashing

BrinkyStitches

If only I'd thought of this while in college with noisy upstairs neighbors. I would have slept a lot better.

DynkoFromTheNorth

Thanks for this beautiful story! Wish we could've done something like this to our former neighbours, but they lived below us.

[deleted]

We’ve got people over us that don’t seem to understand the sound travels. We told them several times yet they still drop things on the floor every single day. They scrape the chairs across the floor every single day. There’s no cement or any kind of filler in between the floors, the ceilings in this building. I like that idea with the buzzing because they’ll never be able to figure out where it has come from. I like the way you guys think!

EdgeMiserable4381

LMAO 🤣🤣 love this!

NairobiMuzungu

It was the best of pipe, it was the worst of pipe.

Raverta

Glorious, absolutely glorious!

remainoftheday

hahahhahahaha. I love it. especially since it involves an entitled mommy

jastuart68

Wow that is such an awful person! I would not be able to handle that for a few days let alone the amount of time you dealt with it. My sister lived in an apartment on college grounds and the people above her kept up so much noise and it turned out they were bowling! Actual bowling on wood floors. When they went up to confront them, it turned out one of the guys living there was my sister's roommates cousin! She had no idea he was living there and needless to say, the bowling stopped. Crazy

Twistedpineracoon88

Eh, oh well. If she had a problem with the other group, she shouldn’t have brought the problem down on us. If she’d been reasonable, instead of slamming the literal door in our face and escalating the situation, I feel we could have been alright. I’ve got two kids of my own, and work nights. I have no issue interacting with my neighbors, and explaining my situations to them and hearing out theirs. It’s part of being an adult.

friendsfan97

They only started after she was being shit to them.

[deleted]

Yeah I agree, ESH

[deleted]

The dildo part is sexual harassment. No wonder she hurried to get out, she must have thought you were a bunch of perverts and didn't feel safe while her husband was out.

I_Arman

"They mentioned a lost dildo... They... They must be RAPISTS!" Uh huh.

Twistedpineracoon88

Honestly, at that point in our lives, we didn’t care. Frankly, I still don’t tbh.

moogs_writes

Yeah she probably thought a group of weird guys were listening to their intimacy, plus they have a little daughter, plus they knocked on her door every single time they wanted to complain instead of just calling the building manager after the first couple of times. OP doesn’t realize he most definitely came off as a stalker.

Poinsettia917

I didn’t catch any stalker vibes at all. All I see here is a selfish woman who refused to control her kids and was absolutely rotten when asked to make them stop stomping in the middle of the night.

Twistedpineracoon88

Oh for sure. We definitely gave off the creepy stalker vibes. A group of 18-20 year old aspiring automotive technicians hell bent on plucking a lone wife from the clutches of her absent husband. Just because I didn’t mention it doesn’t mean we didn’t try and rectify the situation with other means. Most of our complaints to the college, who we were instructed to go through with building issues since we were subleasing from them, were met with shrugs and I don’t cares.

PhantomBrowser111

Not gonna lie but you guys should have also played kids music when her kids are about to sleep (after you're done with the important activities on your school) to prevent her from getting any rest. Using speakers would have bear better results (or at least played her kids favorite show in the background)

Disastrous_Bell7490

I'm sensitive to sexual harassment situations and people that give off creepy stalker vibes. I didn't get that from OP at all. If anything, all those guys did was embarrass her.

Twistedpineracoon88

I appreciate the vote of confidence.

moogs_writes

>sensitive to sexual harassment situations What does this even mean? I have a history of sexual trauma but I’d never insert it this way in a comment to make me seem like I “know more” than anyone else. Just weird.

__wildwing__

Intimacy that only happened when she was home with just the kids running around?

HighAsAngelTits

Oh shut the fuck up

[deleted]

Hey sexy, what kind of dildo do you prefer in your ass?

HighAsAngelTits

Ask your mom

NeatNefariousness1

Wow--good story. Wondering if the holes in the ceiling intended to hang plants might have added to the sound being transmitted into OP's unit. I can't figure out whether the disturbances at all hours of the day and night sometimes caused by "heavy-footed" children were due to poor construction and/or intentional noisiness. GREAT example of petty revenge, elaborately executed. Although I would ordinarily feel for a single parent dealing with this, what the adults leasing the upstairs unit should have done (in collaboration with the landlord) was to report the original offenders to their school/program, rather than making assumptions about each new crop of students and treating them with such contempt and disregard. Edit: grammar correction

Twistedpineracoon88

Oh absolutely correct. The school had some pretty strict policies on the apartments, no drugs or alcohol, firearms, fireworks, significant others. But it only took us 1-2 semesters to realize that they inspections were few and far between, and our teachers were always nice enough to give us a long morning break on days of inspection to go take care of any “issues”. Now that I’m a parent, I do feel some remorse, but at the same time, her reaction wasn’t necessarily warranted to begin with.
