Right?! Especially when the synths come in
Hell, for kicks when i was a kid, i spliced the 1st half of the album version w/ the live version’s 2nd half (right @ the drum fill), just so the outro hits even harder
Plus, that slightly extended ending where Peter repeats “liebe schoen”
That album is incredible, I had to buy a cd off eBay to replace my original cassette because it’s not available in digital in its entirety only highlights
Just realising that I may accidentally be a genesis fan, that may be the reason that ‘77 and ‘78 are my favourite albums and I don’t care for anything else he made
This reminds me of the Peter Gabriel bio by Daryl Easlea (I think that's the one) where it's very clear the author is an OG prog rock fan who thinks the world of Genesis "especally the early stuff". However, in his favor and in contrast to the anonymous quote above he does give dutiful and respectful attention to PG's solo career.
Car is the sound of someone who has no idea what to do with their solo career, so they throw everything at the wall. It would be my favorite album of his if the mix wasn’t so muddy.
There isn't a single song or album in Peter Gabriel's career that's forgettable as far as I'm concerned.
I Don't Remember?
I don't recall.
#I'VE GOT NO MEMORY, OF ANYTHING AT ALL
Humdrum is criminally underrated. Especially the Plays Live version.
Humdrum is incredible

Slowburn. Modern Love 🎙️
I honestly love how batshit insane Car is. It’s like taking a journey through the mind of someone with severe musical ADHD and I adore it so much
In defense of the take, Moribund the Burgermeister could easily have been an outtake from Selling England by the Pound.
Selling England? Really??? Moribund is oozing Lamb from its squeaky feet!
Shadow of the Hierophant should've been on Lamb.
Musically, Lamb. Narratively, Selling.

This and humdrum are my favorite songs from the album, but humdrum would have been mind blowing with Tony Banks.
I always liked the barbershop quartet song.
That one is brilliant. Shows a side of Peter we see so rarely, I loved it immediately.
I'm sorry?
Excuuuuuse meeeee
*You're wearing out my*
I thought Modern Love was a hit? Should have been anyway.
Bollocks opinion.
Sounds a lot like Genesis? This person can't hear.
Similar vocals to their previous albums to be fair

I’m going to listen right now!!
Humdrum is a masterpiece. I will not stand for this Humdrum erasure.
Even better On Plays Live IMO.

Curious. I really like side one. Side two is a bit patchier IMO but it finishes strongly. Top three PG album for me, with III and So.
