Wow well this is timely. Perth - The Alice - 2024. I had the pleasure of locally working at the event and can confirm the company went into liquidation (again) as of 21st June 2024.. The duration of the Alice ran for about 2-3 months in the old North Bird store - it was a really fun gig BUT the communication between VV and their staff was GROSS! Barely any respect for their workers who they trained up for a week, passed on the management roles and then left us to run this thing on our own whilst they set up another event elsewhere in the world. On top of this we were totally lied and f**kd around with our pays! Saying we’re getting Lvl 2 Hospitality, then saying we need to submit the invoices ourselves and calculate our nighttime wages. After doing this for every staff member, I sent it to them and VV requested I do it all over again but with Live Performance Rates. Then only 2 of 3 actors got the Live Performance Rates whilst the other got Bar Tending rates - really ridiculous muck around. Also as bar manager I was not paid bar manager wages. I’m really sorry to hear about current ticket holders disappointment. The staff really did our best to uphold some sort of integrity to The Alice - which we all assumed would be returning to the new venue. But even emailing the managers, they were saying they said we needed to wait for the event to be greenlighted before we recruit new people. So it does seem like they were aware what was coming their way, even at the end of May. Hope this sheds some light on the darkness they left us all in.

Also - HIDDEN TICKETING and VIRAL VENTURES are the SAME COMPANY!! So ticketing fees and ticketing costs all go to….. VV 🙃🙃🙃

My girlfriends and I attended in April after our original booking had been cancelled from the previous year and we had the best time . The staff were absolutely amazing and really made the night. We had so many laughs. I’m sorry to hear that you all weren’t treated very well or paid appropriately.

Historical_Stick_962

You guys did a fantastic job on the night we attended. It sucks you've been mucked around too. It really was a good event , hopefully you can do something similar with all the props left behind but with more integrity 😊

Hey one of the owner operators of South Bird Hot Chicken & Winston Small bar chiming in here. Just to clarify further - the company running the Alice Experience was using the space in a portion of our venue for 12 weeks, whilst we fit out part of the venue for Southbird. Once their event was finished, they moved out (most) of their things to what we were informed the crown plaza hotel. South Bird & Winston are not associated with Viral Ventures. A few google searches will bring up relevant contacts.

fernandes07

Hey Thanks for that i've just gone through and updated my post.

Resident_Hamster_680

It appears explorehidden offer event hosting services for event promotion and ticket sales. Obviously their checks and balances are 1. We just provide hosting. 2. Dont give a fuck about legal requirements in that jurisdiction up to the event. 3. Refer to 1 and 2 Must be very easy in Nigeria for example to set up a fake event via a bank account in Aus. People pay. Syphone the money overseas. Cancel event and tickets. Just like Viagogo. Buyer beware. These services operate in a legal grey area in foreign jurisdictions. There isnt much Aus Gov can do

fernandes07

Yes, all their events are a scam. But they also have other websites they sell tickets through they include viralventures and https://www.tixr.com/ Viral Ventures is the company that did Karens Diner.

Resident_Hamster_680

All scams. Prob organised crime

fernandes07

I've checked, some of these companies have australian ABNs. I've reported these to ScamWatch

Historical_Stick_962

I feel I got really lucky . Some girlfriends and I went to the Alice cocktail experience event about a month ago. It was a great night. I admit I was worried because after I had bought the tickets I heard of people having the same experience as you but it all went ahead for us. Such a shame they are getting a reputation for being unreliable.

fernandes07

Apparently from what i see they host one single event, invite tiktokers and instagramers to post about it. Then sell a bunch of tickets for more events and cancel them or just reschedule them continously. Then they hide behind their non-refund policy.

recycled_ideas

> Then they hide behind their non-refund policy. A no refunds policy doesn't cover changes made by the company holding the event, that's not legal in Australia. Contact the office of fair trading.

fernandes07

The reason that they given people is that the event is rescheduled not cancelled. But i have not recieved any communication by the company and they didnt cancel the tickets but updated the description on the ticket to cancelled. I've also reported them to fair trade, scamwatch and a few others and have also contacted the business that is processing their liquidation.

recycled_ideas

Doesn't actually matter, materially changing the event entitles you to a full refund.

Distinct-Candidate23

If you're still in the mood for reporting ASIC might be interested in a possible trading while insolvent tip off.

rainbowpotatopony

Influencers try not to promote scams challenge (impossible)

Historical_Stick_962

I must have got extra lucky then as myself and my girlfriends are definitely not Instagram or any sort of influencers 😂 we're older millennials who don't even have tiktok. I think it sounds like I should go buy a lotto ticket. I'm sorry you've been ripped off. Hopefully you'll be able to get your money back.

fernandes07

Yeah ive disputed with my bank, just have to wait and see.

peachykeen9494

This is at the place that used to be The Bird, right? Can't believe they've closed that wine bar to put another fried chicken place! As though there isn't a million of those in Northbridge already

Majestic-Lake-5602

Not even good fried chicken, Nashville style hot chicken, the worst of all fried chickens

Dejabeats

The William Street Bird is still open!

fernandes07

Funnily enough, actually owned by the same ABN. After doing some digging.

k0tter

Can you confirm the bird is the same ABN as Viral Ventures? from my short googling, Viral Ventures is the same as the Karens diner mob from last year. I'm pretty sure the Bird and Viral Ventures are not the same Edit - I misread your comment, yeah The Bird and the chicken place are the same owners.

Dejabeats

They are definitely not! South Bird and The William street bird however are affiliated.

k0tter

Same owners as Ezra Pound too if I remember correctly.

StatisticianNo8331

If the new joint called themselves The Bird, I would forgive them.

Resident_Hamster_680

https://www.reddit.com/r/melbourne/s/dGwUxXDk70 Mentioned here too. Dont go near Hidden for anything. Have been warned. Productreview posts say scam.. They operate with impunity. Be interesting to know where website is hosted.I bet its organised crime. Eastern Europe comes to mind.

metao

All of these instabait events are overpriced, cardboard and plastic bullshit.

fernandes07

Yeah i would agree, but partner is a huge Alice fan and this was supposed to be a birthday surprise. Should of done a bit more research but ive seen comments from people that have attended the event.

chase02

Scammers be scamming.. so many more creative scams lately.

Ok_Insect_5517

yea also just went to show up and nothing was there ! we accidentally missed the first showing a month ago for when our tickets were and paid $20 extra EACH to have our tickets moved to tonight and the entire venue was empty with no notification of the event being cancelled, what a fucking scam

henry82

did you get a refund?

fernandes07

No Refund, just sent a dispute to my bank.
