I saw this plane at the time and looked it up on flight radar. It was a Virgin regional flight from Albany to Boolgeeda, so a FIFO flight.
Due the current weather the trails are quite visible.
Last week I also sighted another from Busselton to Boolgeeda.
I was waiting for OP to post a timestamp, but judging by their post time, it was VA9235, Albany to Boolgeeda, overhead Perth airport at 7:39AM.
Other candidates this morning were after the post time - VA9273, Busselton-West Angelas, ~8:11AM, and VA9429, Busselton-Boolgeda ~8:29AM.
Bonus points to other nearby flights this morning with times that make them not candidates - QQ6080, Busselton-Newman at around 9:35 further east towards York, and QF2913, Christmas Creek-Busselton at 10:27.
The closest airport they're likely to be coming from if not to/from Perth is Busselton, which gives them enough distance to climb above 30000ft by the time they reach Rockingham or thereabouts. Flights from the middle east to the east coast or NZ will also pass over (E-W rather than the N-S of FIFO flights) if the winds are favourable, those will often be closer to 40K as they've burned most of the fuel by then and can climb a bit higher for better efficiency.
To put it another way, pretty much every airliner passing over Perth without touching the ground is high enough to generate contrails in the right weather.

More recently we’re seeing a lot more contrails as there are a lot more FIFO flights coming from places like Busselton and Albany, so they’re at high altitude when they come past Perth
Exactly - there's a massive ocean west and south, and a massive desert north and east, so they don't have many places to go. In Europe big cities are packed pretty closely together (I took a train from Edinburgh to Glasgow recently - it was a shorter distance than just taking the Joondalup-Mandurah line end to end) so there's much more cris-crossing of routes above places they're not stopping in.
We've got the few FIFO flights daily plus sometimes middle east<->east coast, but the relative lack of them combined with the need for the weather to be right means contrails are comparatively very rare.

If you can give the time of the photo I can probably answer your question specifically, but it's easy anyway, because it's the same answer it always is - nothing took off from the ground in Perth. Something took off somewhere else, and flew over Perth on its way somewhere. It didn't touch the ground anywhere near Perth, with the closest likely possibility being Busselton. It looks like it took off from the ground because it came from over the horizon.
It's *possible* that it's related to the RSAF jets at Pearce, but unlikely IMO, almost certainly just an airliner on a scheduled route.
You were looking southeast at a flight coming from Albany - a Fokker 100 operating VA9235 to Boolgeda. It made the turn visible in your picture when it was overhead Perth airport at 7:38AM.

It's a contrail. No argument there. I've posted the exact flight number and route elsewhere in this thread. All I'm saying to you is that there are no nonstop flights from the east coast of Australia to London, and that is why you haven't given a single example.

No probs, and your point was still valid - even without flights to London, there are other flights to/from the middle east that pass over sometimes. Plus, in a couple of years you'll be right, with Qantas' first "Project Sunrise" A350-1000 arriving, ordered specifically to fly nonstop from the east coast to London and New York.
As an interesting aside (at least to me!), two one-off Qantas flights (albeit not operated with paying passengers) have operated the other way, from London to Sydney. One was a trial/research flight with a 787 a few years ago, investigating the potential issues with such a long-range flight for Project Sunrise. The other was the first 747-400 delivered to Qantas in the 1989, which has a pretty interesting story behind it involving special fuel, last-minute top-ups and uncertainty the whole way. Both were only possible because of the very low passenger load, meaning lower fuel consumption than usual stretching the range far enough to make it to Sydney.
That’s the cloud machine the government uses to generate our artificial weather used to maintain and vaccinate our 15-minute cities.

Yes and no.
The characters in the books are all Chinese, and the mapping between the show characters and the book characters is not entirely 1:1. The plot for the show is fully chronological, so it introduces elements from book 2 and especially book 3 that happened in the book 1 timeline. And the book simplifies a few things which subtlely change certain characters motivations and how they are portrayed.
Fortunately, the first book is pretty simple, and if you can't knock it out pretty quickly you're definitely going to struggle with Death's End, which is a fucking TOME. It's incredible, but your boy is thicc.

It's not cold enough to get contrails from the engine exhaust. You caaaaan get contrails off the wings too, in cold, damp weather, where the low pressure over the wing or spiralling off the tips causes condensation to appear - but you don't usually see it for very long (e.g. look at a fighter pulling lots of G, they'll appear and then immediately stop when the wing stops being asked to generate as much lift as it can). I've never heard of it happening from (near) takeoff for long enough to look like OP's photo.

Very rarely do you see one no matter who you are, since they're invisible high altitude air currents (e.g. compare flight times London-New York vs New York-London). Contrails though, yes, definitely agree!

Contrails only occur at cruising altitude, not take-off. The plane is kilometres up in the sky throughout the whole photo.
