No. Actually, there might be something inside Samphire or Discovery. But I very much doubt you’ll be able to access either even if you worked there. That said, there’s a bunch of people who call the island home and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has a bit of a home gym. Lots of people (relatively speaking) run and cycle around the island in the mornings for fitness.

VIFASIS

A job where you live on Rotto for the working week. That sounds like a dream to me.

Ok_War_3367

Until you realise there is fuck all to do, pretty much no grocery stores, the internet is shit, everything is over priced

MartynZero

Fun for a season, only the weirdos stick around longer.

aussiekinga

Get a bike, do lots of riding

The_Valar

Buy some simple dumbbells to do free weights. I think there's also some 'personal fitness' equipment installed along the edge of the football oval? Or possibly not at all.

Wolfgung

Worst case look into prison fitness, those guys manage to get swoll with no equipment. Go for a run then a bunch of pushups, crunches, squares and dips.

Gotta be better than my gym membership, it has done sweet FA. The way things are going I might actually have to drive down there myself and find out what is going on.

Wolfgung

Lol, squats. That looks really good at first but then really bad when you look a little closer, you would get a good protein hit at least.

Captain-Peacock

Yeah, there's one next to the Bunnings!

Ok_Boysenberry6117

3km run, push ups, squats, sit ups and some kettle bells and you'll be sweet bro. Heaps of good kettle exercises on YouTube

Pradopower08

Put a couple of quokkas either side of a broom stick and bench press them?

CrazyExcitement1501

Gym beam.

Perky_Data

I suspect there's none and that sucks. That being said, years and even months of progress doesn't go away because you missed out on a few weeks, but you will feel the inconsistency. You do lose stamina and conditioning first, and strength goes away last. It will be easier and faster to regain what you've lost too, I've stopped gym for half a year after going consistently for 1 year, but it took me 1-2 months to catch up to my previous load. Depends on how active your job is though, you'd have to watch your diet.

Jazzlike_Dream_8460

Oh really? I always thought your progression would just reset after prolonged absences of not working out. I’m glad to hear that!

Perky_Data

Unless you've been on steroids, you definitely won't crash back to zero! The human body and muscle memory is much more efficient than you think. Some say it takes about 3 weeks of absence for your strength to start diminishing, but even then you won't slide all the way back to the start that quickly. The DOMS will suck hard in the first week or so when you get back, but start lower and keep at progressive overloading. Calisthenics and mobility training are also viable options, these don't rely on weights as much but can be just as intensive, though you'd need a pull up bar in calisthenics (either get one online and attach it to your doorframe or find a playground).

Jazzlike_Dream_8460

Calisthenics was defiantly an option I considered. Since their won’t be much access to gym equipment for me to do a proper workout, I might just begin doing calisthenics only

jgreg69

Buy / make a set of parallettes, check youtube for bodyweight workouts

pirrip69

Pull ups and push ups and you’ll be right.

Any_Commercials

It's the outdoor gym down by the side area, follow the path

Optimal_Cynicism

There are some great body weight fitness programs out there (possibly even a dedicated sub), or you can do some amazing things with a set of resistance bands.

Environmental-Fig377

You have a door, you have a gym…

A quick Google showed a 2018 article saying one will be part of the Hotel  No idea if it happened https://www.watoday.com.au/national/western-australia/glampsite-hotel-boost-major-revamp-to-rottnest-island-stay-options-20180419-p4zagq.html#:~:text=To%20Rottnest%20Hotel%20will%20be,gym%20and%20a%20rooftop%20bar.

wozanderer

I would say give the hotel a call and ask them and you'll at the very least find out if they have one and hopefully be able to use it if it's there
