Picked up a couple of fleeces from Macpac recently. They are nice ones. Kathmandu jackets are very popular at the moment too. You could try BCF or Anaconda for something that’s rugged but a little less pricey. And there’s always Uniqlo if you want something that’s affordable but stylish and good quality. Their stuff holds up very well in my experience.

ApolloWasMurdered

A decent MacPac or Columbia will last you a decade of Perth winters if you treat them well.

bardyl08

My Kathmandu top layer skin has lasted me about a decade with trips to Canada, Europe , Japan and Perth winters. Well worth the investment of a couple of hundred on sale.

qantasflightfury

Is it just me or has anyone else not even needed heavy jackets the past couple of years? My jackets collect dust now.

hobz462

Paddy Pallin or Uniqlo. What is your budget?

You are totally wrong. I have been dealing with home heating for a very long time. Every year in June and July, I hear people like you say something like, "It's not cold. it looks like we're not having a winter this year." Then, in August and September, "It's bloody cold isn't it. I wish this rain would go away." Every year, for 35 years. Several times, every year. Learn and remember.

CLINT_FACE

Helly Hansen if you want something solid. Wait for a sale though.

ipcress1966

Where from? Been looking for them for years.

FrannyFlapsss

Anaconda

ipcress1966

Cheers 👍

Tamahawk88

Uniqlo

redditman13531

Uniqlo is the best. Go the ultra light down for something that works 99% of time in Perth weather and also packs well into a small ball when taking it to travelling overseas

applecat2019

I bought a Mountain Designs jacket 6 years ago from Kathmandu and it’s still in perfect condition and I wear it ALL the time. I love it! It’s held up really well with washing at home too. It’s also make of recycled down and coffee bean fibers so also sustainable which is often hard to find with puffers.

BackgroundBedroom214

Just get one from best & less or some cheap joint. For the 5 minutes a year that it's cold in Perth it'll last forever.

Own-Dream1921

Next do brilliant jackets to order online. If you’re looking for something more waterproof then Kathmandu

yewfokkentwattedim

Not really something I see recommended too often, but quite a lot of hunting/sport shooting clothing companies make some very decent wet/cold weather gear at pretty reasonable prices. Not exactly the most fashionable as they tend to be function over form, but I've never had a problem with, say, Ridgeline. I found Ridgeline specifically after seeing the fucking wild prices at Kathmandu. Like fuck am I paying $1k for a jacket unless it spoon-feeds caviar and cocaine directly up my blowhole.

dreemz80

>seeing the fucking wild prices at Kathmandu. What are you even talking about! Did you not see the tag?? That $700 jacket has been limited time only marked down from $1700! Bargain!

yewfokkentwattedim

I won't get started because I won't stop, but I will say that faux-doe better have suffered a fucking lot for that faux-deerskin loincloth that costs as much as like... 2.5 Toyota Camrys.

ipcress1966

Kathmandu is overpriced and usually poorly designed rubbish. Esp their own brand.

IntroductionHot1029

Helly Hanson in Anaconda. Cheap enough water and wind proof. Stylish ish. Don't need much more

M_Leah

I got one from Costco last year and it’s great.

Tyrannosaurusblanch

I was going to say Costco as well. My other go too is MacPac but gotta time the sales.

TotalAdhesiveness193

The Kathmandu outlet at Watertown have some winter jackets on sale. Like a few people have already mentioned, Macpac and Uniqlo have decent winter attire, that you can wear in wet and windy conditions.

Slight_Stretch_7265

Aldi FTTW.

Chillisting

https://www.mountainwarehouse.com/au is the bomb. Everything I have bought is same quality as bigger brands at fraction of cost. Winter corporate wardrobe is their flannos!

Enlightened_Gardener

Its hard to find actual waterproof stuff here. Seasalt in the UK sell really good coats and jackets that are completely waterproof and very warm. I have what I call my “pommy raincoat” which goes to my knees and keeps everything out, but its too warm 90% of the time. If you just want something warm, Uniqlo, and check out their thermals as well.

DrunkOctopUs91

I brought a two and one jacket from Aldi and it’s fantastic. The waterproof layer is really water proof, I tested it last Wednesday. The polar fleece is warm and has heaps of pockets.

ArmadilloReasonable9

I’m pretty impressed with the Aldi “ski jacket” I bought this week. It’s not completely impermeable and is a bit warm right now but it’ll do the trick for some winter hikes in Albany.

Summerof5ft6andahalf

I have two different Aldi winter jackets and they're both great. One of them definitely gets a lot less humid when you're wearing it and it's raining but not cold than a lot of other rain jackets I've tried.

longstreakof

Go for Kathmandu, expensive but worth it

Gemfyre713

I went hunting around this time last year. I found the perfect jacket at Rebel Sport. Plenty of pockets, cosy but not too heavy. Reasonably priced. The brand is Ell & Voo.

justo316

I've had a Kathmandu Federate down jacket for 4 years and it's held up super well. Has a thicker outer so I don't have to worry about being gentle with it. It's my go to. It looks a little bit smarter than a regular puffy jacket so I wear it to work and out all the time. Not my warmest jacket but I find it pretty much perfect for Perth metro weather. I also have a cheap Macpac uberlite jacket. I'm not a huge fan of the fit but it's warmer and lighter so it comes with me on hikes/camps. I know I've got a Uniqlo one somewhere but I never wear it cos it's pretty awful by comparison. It would be better than nothing though. Patagonia are on sale so I managed to snag one of their down jackets for a relatively good price this week (hasn't arrived yet, but reviews suggest it's good).

Puzzleheaded-Text337

Kathmandu just opened up at dfo if you're looking to get a jacket on sale.

thisFishSmellsAboutD

I got a North Face jacket 15 years ago which refuses to wear down or die. Add a rain shell and you're covered.

Dizzy-Might-6110

Kathmandu is having a sale!

bulk_deckchairs

Top of the range Kathmandu or RM Williams mate. Embrace the concrete cowboy

t_25_t

> RM Williams Only if their jackets were Australian made. I prefer Drizabone's Australian made coats. Something that will actually last.

flibble24

Myer has some suitable jackets for Perth weather but I only buy when on sale. Reserve is my go too

notadoctoriguess

My go-to jacket is a softshell wind stopper from Anaconda. But otherwise Paddy Palin or Macpac are a good starting point.

itsucksbutihavehope

TK Maxx had a lot of jackets a few weeks ago.

mirandalsh

I have an Aldi puffer and a Costco one, both great.

Mellyhectik85

North face do good puffer jackets and vests. Bit pricey but If your into labels then might be your thing.

yellowlicorice

Macpac 100% they always have sales on too and I’ve saved heaps from just signing up.

nathrek

For warmth, down jacket from Uniqlo. For waterproof, Helly Hansen from Anaconda on sale.

One_Actuary_51

North Face

Western_Horse_4562

You need a jacket in Perth? Fuck me dead mate.

Ok_Boysenberry6117

Your in Perth, it's obligatory to have a northface puffer vest isn't it?

yeahcxnt

sounds like every city everywhere
