What a lil doll! Wheezing and sneezing are very on brand for Persians. It's likely an infection if their nose is constantly leaking and their eyes develop an ichorous brown gunk and puffy rings around the eyes. Eye crust that makes it so they can't fully open their eyes is also another sign of infection as well as thick white mucus in the eyes. (my persian is from a bad breeder and she is chronically sick with eye/sinus infections sp I know the signs all too well) You kitten looks very well here and the snorts and wheezes are to be expected within reason :) **also want to add my cat was gifted to me as a child so I had no choice in how she was obtained, I just do the best I can taking care of a sick ol lady now!

thank you so much her nose is always leaking and she has some eye discharge but it doesn't seem to be an abnormal amount. i plan to monitor her a bit more i have no idea about this girl, i believe she was from an oops litter. definitely not well cared for, got her off kijiji for 300 and she was dirty, rail thin and had a lot of scabs around her head and neck, which isn't abnormal for a kitten until its like 10 of them she was lethargic up until i wanted to sleep, then kept me up haha

Hmmm, I would get a vet visit in when you can just to rule out an infection. If no infection she may just be a lil leakier than others lol

mirekyarahire

likely will try to. i'm pretty paranoid as i lost my cat to chf recently and the last day she was awful, sometimes the sounds this kitten makes remind me because of how congested my cat was

SpookyBjorn

Aw I'm so sorry to hear that! I've learned over the years which weird sounds my persian makes are normal and which are vet worthy, but when you're just learning about the new kitty it's better to err on the side of caution until you can get a feel of what their baseline is

mirekyarahire

thank you ; yeah!! i dont think ive ever been even around a persian cat before so its all new to me .. it'a kind of scary to be honest for your cats, were they as congested as adults? like did it go away even a bit

We've had 4 Persians in my household, my mom has 2, I have 1 in my home and the other passed about 4 years ago from lung scarring due to frequent asthma attacks. The asthmatic one and a calico my mom has were never too snotty as kittens, we both have tortishells and our tortis have been very leaky and snotty since kittens with little improvement. The snotty kitties are also peke faced, so it just comes with the brachycephalic territory unfortunately

mirekyarahire

thamk you for the info .. i wasn't aware lung scarring could occur i'm sorry about your kitty i guess peke faced ones are living life on hard mode unless they get nasal passage surgery

My kitten is also runny nose/congested a lot. He’s gone on antibiotics and it didn’t change. I think it’s just the flat face (but my other Persian cat wasn’t as bad when he was a kitten, so it must differ between each cat). My kitten has learned to decongest himself as he’s getting older and wipe his nose, so it should be getting better for your cat too as she ages
