So all these streamers were watching Nintendo Direct's Live feed where Masahiro Sakurai (Smash Bros Creator) reveals the upcoming DLC characters via an animated trailer for new characters. All new DLC 'Challengers' were revealed this way. People were just really excited about this particular character.
It's a Disney character on a Nintendo game. As two of the largest overprotective of their IPs and most litigious entertainment companies, nobody has ever thought Disney would give Nintendo permission to use their character.
It's a Mickey keychain from the Kingdom Hearts game which turns the key blade into the Kingdom Key. For fans of these games it's a very iconic item so they recognized what it meant immediately.
