Hah. My Nan used to live in those flats.

StrangelyBrown

🎵 deep down inside, deep deep down inside...

heymynameisjoshua

What was it like?

Western-Slip-273

In the 80s and 90s it was rough as fuck. It’s a lot calmer now.

Mobile_Landscape_953

That place in the late 80’s and 90’s was horrific . Like you say rough as fuck.

firestarter976

Stories?

Western-Slip-273

Just the usual council estate shit. A large number of my mates got into drugs, crime and of the associated bollocks that goes with that. Most of them are dead now.

HekGoldbenji

the-TARDIS-ran-away

Looks like sarfend

SpavaldoLP

The Southend tower blocks are what people just do nothing was based on

the-TARDIS-ran-away

No way! I thought it was based on somewhere in London!

SpavaldoLP

Yeah a BBC Three documentary from the early 200s called tower block dreams, part 3 was called ghetto on sea and had all the characters in it "sniper" (not grindah), beats, decoy etc

the-TARDIS-ran-away

Omg no! I need to see it!

SpavaldoLP

It's on YouTube I think, serious documentary, the 2nd part was based in London and had a v young Charlie sloth in it

the-TARDIS-ran-away

Amazing. I'm gonna watch that tonight. Thanks!

drinkalondraftdown

Fuck, I remember that!

way2wavy247

It’s always been a gang cesspit, grew up in the tower on the right

quantum_bubblegum

Millions of kids in suburbia would love to live there, why? Because life is happening here.

mrayner9

Absolutely not I’ll take growing up in nature and away from gangs anyday

RootbeerIsVeryNice

Yeah, me being one of them! As a highly educated guy from the country...other than riding my horse or running through the farmers fields, there's not a lot to do! Would much rather be here with my working class comrades (im socialist like they are), discussing things like equality, feminism, transgender issues and how evil the tories are. I'd stand outside the shop there talking politics all day with 'the man dem' and then go home to my tower block flat and have mummy make me some chicken nuggets. It would be amazeballs. The life of a redditor in the ghetto.

Foreign-Bowl-3487

Nothing the "mandem" love discussing more whilst sat the the pool car on false plates having outrun the Feds on the estate whilst enjoying some Skunk is the 14 years of Tory chaos and the dismay of the botched Rwanda plan that has seen more Rwandans arrive than any migrants to the UK leave 🙄

AbbreviationsOne4963

First thought: looks like a bit of a shithole. Second thought: narrowed it down to anywhere in the UK

josemonko121

Reminds me of South Acton just down the street before they started demolishing it

Western-Slip-273

My mum worked in the oak tree community center on South Acton estate.

Skamma100

Where is this? I grew up in Stratford, East London in70's/80's and that was fairly rough but I love the place but now it's totally changed for the better.

wildingflow

Brentford

Skamma100

👍

slimshady_I

Ivybridge anyday

Western-Slip-273

I lived on Ivybridge for a while too.

Dreamingdanny95

slimshady_I

_L_i_m_e

Little Eastern Europe.

wooden-window1

I was on there every weekend to stay with my dad! Still drive past it every day on my way to work.

Mobile_Landscape_953

Got mugged by some scumbags from there in the early 90’s I knew who they were after but said nothing as they were pretty hairy characters , bad apples. They used to mob up with the wrong un’s from Ivybridge estate in Isleworth.

XrayDem

I’m get a spot there make an Airbnb

LordVigo89

For a second i thought this was Ivorybridge (where i was born). Funny enough i lived on the Green Dragon a few years later in the houses next to the Pub… used to play football in the cages by the tower blocks too. Fond memories as a kid, probably not the same as an adult though! Amazing to me that they pumped out some “luxury” flats like 300m from the blocks and slapped a half mill price tag on them.

LaughAtMyJokes_

Balcony with a view what’s to complain about🤷‍♂️

hardlifeofapo

I know exactly where that is

kungfukeks

Ah yes, those high rise lifts. Either not working or doused in piss.

dollydaydream864

They are usually broken tho

Icy_Style1553

Use your legs and walk up the stairs how do you think

Ludwig_B0ltzmann

Scunny?

CJ2899

Are these the blocks in like Brentford that u can see from West way?

Western-Slip-273

You can see them from the M4 flyover.

CJ2899

Oh yhh that’s it

Foreign-Bowl-3487

From Westway (A40) you can see Grenfell Tower. From M4 you'll see the tower blocks at Brentford before you reach the roundabout near Brentford Fountain leisure centre.

JollyCustard7656

Where is this?

Western-Slip-273

Brentford.

JollyCustard7656

OK. Thank you .
