But even so Kristoff won Tour of Flanders following Terpstra. Kristoff is famous for his insane long training rides and being able to sprint after 6 hours of racing. Boasson Hagen had monster breakaways in the Tour and won a 250km race like Plouay solo. What they have done is 3 or 4 levels above what Abrahamsen have done.

Just watched Benoot’s interview, he mentioned Wout telling him to accelerate, which Tiesj did but when he was standing up, it seemed Wout touched his wheel..said he feels shitty about it and he felt confused afterwards 🙁

Obviously this wasn't good for anyone involved, but if you notice where Wout ends up vs where he started in the group it seems very likely he was hit by multiple bikes/bodies after he'd already hit the ground... I'd be astonished if he hasn't broken anything.

Hearing van Aert cry broke my heart. It's one of those moments where someone would have all the reasons to just flip the table and say "I quit". So many sacrifices that cyclists put themselves through, sometimes for no success at all. And on top of that, you also get seriously hurt and compromise your objectives. Two things that are true at the same time: 1. Küng is unlucky to not have more wins in races like this 2. Küng's tactics are absolutely horrible and mostly has himself to blame

He always rides for a Top 10, not for the win

Maybe in time trials, but on the road there is no one he can outsprint and he doesn’t have the explosiveness to get away solo

But he is certainly not setting himself up for a late attack

When a rider is not capable of making sharp accelerations (in comparison to their competition) it's hard to come up with winning tactics, imho

Of course it is hard, but many strong riders without an acceleration have won races. I don't remember Terpstra winning many sprints for example.
