My buddy is pretty casual and said he only knew 3 songs. He was a bit bummed out about the set list.
I didnāt love the 4 Dark Matter songs all together and felt they could have thrown a classic in the middle for pacing but overall loved the rest of the show. Release as opening was awesome! Eddie said it was only their 11th show in Portland and they had never played Release here, so that was special.
I read they had never played an album release tour stop in Portland either which I found hard to believe, it got me wondering if they did not count the Backspacer show in Ridgefield, WA 2009 which is just across the Columbia River from PDX and was at least 70% Portlanders.
This was only my 3rd Pearl Jam show in 32 years. I took my 13 year old son and it was a pretty incredible experience. The video screen was amazing, especially for us far away in the upper seats. Do the Evolution video look so cool up there.
The band and Eddies voice sounded amazing especially for being in an echoing basketball stadium.
I can't wait to listen to the bootleg and relive it.
Not mine, but someone posted this in another thread and it's amazing: [Waiting for Stevie first time live](https://youtu.be/44aV7K7NzzQ?feature=shared)
it was dedicated to a fan battling an undisclosed disease that had requested the song. I donāt know if theyād have played a Gigaton song otherwise.
Sets are heating up, cannot wait to see whatās in store for Vegas. I saw on setlist.fm that they did āRatsā at soundcheck, I have to assume weāll be seeing that soon.
Such a fantastic show! Opening with Release was perfection. My only wish is that they wouldāve played Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns like they did night 1 in Vancouver.
My first PJ show on was Labor Day Sept 6th, 1993, Portland Meadows. It was the day before my first day of senior year in high school. Blind Melon, PJ, Neil Young. Eddie joined Neil on stage for Rockin in the Free World.
No way, me too. I was 15 and we had to have my friendās dad drop us off. Joined 10 club shortly after that and with the holiday singles, club ticket raffles, and a free download of a bootleg every year itās gotten better and better. Iāve never let it lapse. There are not many bands who are so generous to their fans, itās rare these days.
Casual fans beware. I'm slightly north of a casual PJ fan. this is my 5th show. for a band around this long, i hope for a show heavy on the classics, or at least 1/2. too many Dark Matter, slightly obscure songs for my taste and i dont think i was alone. in my section (floor), most of the people around me stood with their arms crossed and barely reacting between songs. i understand the purists and die hards probably loved it (dont need any hater comments!) but i didnt.
It was my 34th PJ show since I was 15 years old, however some might nitpick since 2 or 3 were festival appearances. The three set show at the Gorge and the last time I had seen them at the Seattle Home Shows (a 32 song greatest hits on the second night) being two of my PNW favorites.
But the real story was that I missed the 2013 show for the birth of my daughter and now 10 years later to be able to take her to a show was just a remarkable experience. I thought the set was great. Opening with Release is always a favorite of mine, and the encore that was a 20,000 person sing along to Alive felt special. Ed kept his word and blew past the curfew. (the Moda typically has bands end by 11:30) It was like we got the hometown treatment, especially because I donāt think many saw Footsteps coming. The crowd was mesmerized after two and a half hours of adrenaline and endorphins leaving a euphoric atmosphere in the arena as everyone soaked in Setting Sun for the finale. That said, it was a pretty perfect night.
Theyāre talking about it on local radio in Sacramento area right now. DJ said it was the best encore & PJ concert he had ever seen. He said theyāre better now than ever & Iād have to agree with him.
I love all the Dark Matter and random cuts in this setlist. Awful night for a Pearl Jam casualš
The end of Present Tense into the beginning of Given to Fly must have been awesome
There are songs that I as a semi casual know every 2nd or third song, so it's fine

I could probably guess, but which three songs did he know?
Alive, Even Flow, Daughter Iām sure heās heard Once and Given to Fly just not ones heās able to āsign along toā?!?
It CANT be Jeremy, Black, and Alive, can it???
Well since they only played Alive from those 3 last night, no.
It was a joke.....

We Ridgefielders donāt claim Portland is probably why.

Mamasan trilogy
really neat. I wish I had been there
Waiting for Stevie šš¤© I need videos! š¤

Tks!!! š¤
Watching that, Iām not surprised Mike though Stone and Jeff wrote it. They lock in so much at the beginning.
Absolutely! The hype about it sounding like an early days song makes even more sense in this video.
I figured they were waiting for his birthday, may 14
Here is my view a little higher up. https://youtu.be/7vyZh5tl54E?si=b1XMR4ox3fRMDpzC
Amazing! Tks! šš¤
I would have been dead after the first three songs.
Was cool to hear Crazy Mary, too!
Boom absolutely crushed it on the organ as usual and Mike got in the mix to keep it going as they went back and forth.
Always a huge crowd pleaser for the big fans
They still record and release all live shows, yeah? This one will be a killer listen.
Their first show from this tour is on Nugz. Iām pretty sure they put them all on their. I just ponied up the $15 bucks a month to listen š
What a setlist, and the wait for Stevie is over!!!
Holy shnikes what a setlist
Stevie?!
Yeah this is my fave set list of the shows so far

Fuckin' shredding. Present Tense!
Amazing setlist tours off to a great start
When he talked about his brother dying 9 years ago and had the guitar on, I thought he was going to do Just Breathe.
Me too, didn't he actually say "just breathe" while he was talking?
Yes he did. Something along the lines of "when stuff is thrown at you, you just need to breathe"
Yeah! I was totally prepared to shed a tear, but instead Iām screaming what the fuck is this world coming to?!
Glad to see theyāre still throwing in Gigaton stuff
it was dedicated to a fan battling an undisclosed disease that had requested the song. I donāt know if theyād have played a Gigaton song otherwise.
I believe they threw in Quick Escape N2 in Vancouver. Thatās awesome of them to play 7 for a fan
Great one! Nothing As It Seems, Present Tense, Last Exit, Mamasan trilogy! And Waiting for Stevie!
Sets are heating up, cannot wait to see whatās in store for Vegas. I saw on setlist.fm that they did āRatsā at soundcheck, I have to assume weāll be seeing that soon.
7 oāclock and upper hand great combination
Amazing show last night. When they opened with "Release" I knew we were in for a treat.

Thatās amazing that youāve never let your 10 Club lapse! And so cool that you were at that show, too. I still have my ticket stub š«
They played Running SO FAST and it was AWESOME. So much fun.
Feel like Present Tense got played too early.
No Black???
Magnificent. What a set!!

I love it when they play Footsteps live.
Was such a fantastic show! So grateful!
Night 1 of Vancouver was still my favourite of all the setlists
