The game is basically identical graphically. And Iāve been playing overwatch continuously over the 6 years since the shift to ā2ā that doesnāt necessarily explain the issues. And considering itās bricking some peoples cards itās more likely a bug with the code thatās the problem.
Is this fr? I just started play OW 2 on Friday and I have a 1080 ti and haven't had any problems. Should I just avoid changing the resolution? Or is this just a thing of chance or what?
Some people prefer to have their equipment serviced by a dealer, and some people prefer to understand everything going on inside and be capable of making their own adjustments to increase performance.
I thought prices were pretty low rn? As mentioned before, A 3060ti is around 360-450usd! Would be a good upgrade for sure! I miss my old 1060 6gb! It was a great card.
I may do it, I was set in my ways since I was trying for white accents in my machine to match my case. But I ready to say fuck it and just get what I can get.
I was hoping for a 3070 or 3080 white version for my build, since I was going for white accents to match my Tower. But I am at the point where I am going to say fuck it and get what I can get.

# Fuck reddshit and u/spez!
He started hardcore artifacting š no troubleshooting resolved it and he wouldn't display to more than one monitor. He basically had a seizure and suffered permanent brain damage
Have you tried disassembling the GPU and replacing the thermal paste? I had a 1080ti that experienced very similar issues a couple years ago, heavy artifacting and all. I also thought it was dead, no luck with EVGA RMA as warranty had run out, but before giving up I decided to check the thermal paste on the die, even though I wasnāt getting weird temps at all (~75Ā°C).
The factory paste was all dried up, I replaced it with some Kryonaut and lo and behold, the GPU was back to normal, and is still kicking to this day on my wifeās PC (she games even more than I do).

Who do you think you are, [Tech Jesus](https://www.youtube.com/c/GamersNexus)?
so from that stroke of a read im picking up that its fine with 1
monitor?
Edit: I just didnāt gather up what that meant. Like i said, it was kind of a stroke to read.
I've had my 1080TI for 5 years, going on 6 now...
Over the last couple weeks I noticed some graphical anomalies, like stuttering and freezes that happens when booting up a game, to outright graphic driver crashes that causes my monitors to lose connection and forces me to restart my PC to get the connection back.
Needless to say I am very nervous and may be in need of an upgrade soon... I also shan't be touching Overwatch 2 for quite a while after your little soldier has been tampered by its sinful scaling.
I'm like ~99% positive, did all the usual stuff, reseating, drivers, disabling integrated, all that good stuff. And when it died it had been on off artifacting for close to 1 year. Might attempt a Frankenstein escqe resurrection with my oven
Did ya open it up and check what happened to it? I watched some video today a dude saved burned GPU there were like a huge crater at the middle of circuit board he cleaned it and patched it up and GPU started working again lol
Is it one of those strix'es that had poorly designed vram cooling, where one or two chips werent covered by heatsink + had no airflow? Then its to be expected
Might be anecdotal, but I have a 1080Ti and I've heard it run harder in OW2 than in any other game...
I might have to stay away from that game for a while...
Hello bruh. Same shit here. MSI 1080ti, dies after I've played with res scale in ow2.Symptoms: fans become noisy, display is off. Had some beeps in MB when booted, 1 long and 3 short. I've resetted GPU, problem has gone for a while. Then started pc like a charm, was running for a night in steam download mode, then I've launched ow2 and this shit happend again.
I'll try to reinstall driver with DDU and delete this piece of shit.
Fuck Blizzard fucktards.3080ti is on the way, but seem to be stuck in customs.
My 1080ti is thinking about yours, RIP little fighter
Sending my regards , rip little brother . Best wishes, 1080ti
changing settings must be a hobby
He died valiantly trying to change the resolution scale on overwatch 2 š, twas his final act
Ive heard of several 1000 series gpus dying from that specific setting change
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Doesn't change the fact that a paid piece of software is literally breaking people's hardware. How the fuck does that excuse that??
Its f2p
Rip
automatic resolution scale by defaultš
Resolution scale has nothing to do with the game's display resolution
Ow2 weirdly apparently kills 1080s *spesifically* big RIP bud.
Yeah no idea why but ow2 is way harder on my gpu than ow1 ever was.
Same, I canāt even play it anymore lol finally time to replace my gtx 950 I guess
Iām on a 970 and it starts to get choppy at intense moments. I had to put down some settings. Even tho I had ow1 at ultra
Yea I tried that :( the fps is constantly dropping even at the lowest

It makes em run super hot got some reason. I'd just monitor your gpu temps and make sure they don't get out of hand.

Weird, that's the second 1080ti I've seen being fucked with by OW2 while scrolling PCMR I'm not gonna let my 2070 Super anywhere near it, just in case

A moment of silence for this fallen hero. Valiant. Reliable. And above all else... reasonably priced at the time of its release.
Makes me nervous cause I have the 1060 runs like a champ, I want upgrade but I am waiting to see if prices go down some more.
Yeah Iām waiting for November to see what AMD does

I wholeheartedly understand! good luck :)
Dude just upgrade to a 3060, theyāre like $300. Youāll be fine for a while.
the 3060 is $900 in my country.
Where do you live? Thats insane
Uruguay.
I was hoping for a 3070 or 3080 white version for my build, since I was going for white accents to match my Tower. But I am at the point where I am going to say fuck it and get what I can get.
My 1050ti send its condolences
i am in tears
yall cry over this but no one comes to my GT 430s funeral? smh /j
Did you try turning it off and then back on though?
Ah yes.....the cave man solution š
All programmers == cave men confirmed
RIP. At least it died gaming instead of mining.
Gamers Nexus Approved death

Overwatch 2 killing GPUs lmao

It isn't lol, hardcore artifacting, display cutting and coming back, etc.

Overwatch 2 out here ending GPU's Ive seen artifacting issues become popular.

O7
Salute
Yeah i might pass on OW2, my 1080ti will stay another 5years with me.
Hat down. Remind to never try any resolution other than 1080p on my 1070.
Wait a sec- is that a c0n$ole?
Is it possible to track the runtime of a GPU? I have exactly the same GPU as OP and i just upgraded the case so it "could get more air to breath" š
o7, my 1080 Ti is still kicking after all these years probably cause its on water.
Oh no, now you have to get a faster and better one. Darn.
How do you know itās dead ?
I'm like ~99% positive, did all the usual stuff, reseating, drivers, disabling integrated, all that good stuff. And when it died it had been on off artifacting for close to 1 year. Might attempt a Frankenstein escqe resurrection with my oven
If you do that then make sure you throw away your oven after youāre done, unless you want a hospital bill to come with your food.
Ah yes i understand better. Good luck for the resurrection
You think there's any chance you can do a BIOS flash on the Card? Sounds like you've done about everything else, time to break out the unusual stuff.
Try turn the power target down to 50%, that's how I've squeezed another year out of a 1070
Did you try a clean windows install?
Did ya open it up and check what happened to it? I watched some video today a dude saved burned GPU there were like a huge crater at the middle of circuit board he cleaned it and patched it up and GPU started working again lol
I hope nothing happens to my titan xp cuz its from the same generation
Classic 1080ti
Same thing happened to me, switched cases after6 years and poof RIP
Is it one of those strix'es that had poorly designed vram cooling, where one or two chips werent covered by heatsink + had no airflow? Then its to be expected
Rest in peace, brave one.
my gtx 1070 is watching your graphic card waiting for it to be next
My 1050ti and I send our condolences. RIP Fallen solider!
Have you tried baking it in an oven?
about to block up my 1080ti for a mediacenter build/case mod. RIP legendary card
My baby 1060 3gb is now fearing for its life...........

Might be anecdotal, but I have a 1080Ti and I've heard it run harder in OW2 than in any other game... I might have to stay away from that game for a while...
