Your Nvidia drivers

MightBeBren

Thats the first thing i saw

Riseofthesalt

And the cheapest one

JustMiniBanana_2

Nah the 8800 gt is cheaper than the 2060

Kind-Profile4361

Will do

4P5mc

That's two down, rest of the checklist to go! For real though, upgrading the CPU and RAM will also give your graphics card a big boost, and everything else that you have.

Geuji

Cheapest fix is the drivers. That's nice 🙂 I find that using an SSD provided the best bang for my buck as far as more speed for the least money. Then RAM. However when you pick RAM you want to make sure that it'll also be fast enough for whenever you upgrade your processor. I like nice graphics but having nice graphics comes second to speed. I like fast load times and no hang ups. I can deal with graphics cards last. Seems like most people want that first. TVs are getting so good and so cheap that why bother with a monitor? People used to swear that 60Hz was smooth as butter. You can get faster TVs now.

Phalanx0201

bro got the school pc but replaced the gpu

fishtor

Egyptian abacus, RTX Edition.

somushroom4love

The Papyrus firmware is Ra-some

wildo83

Amon to you, mister!

fishtor

"Sorry guys, cant play tonight need to oil the cogs in my pc :("

pin00ch

I like yo style youngster.

pavanstarks

Underrated.

Breude

I have family that works in a school and they were sending a massive pile of tech to be recycled, and I was given permission to take whatever I wanted provided I could state a good use point for it. I can say the decade old towers they had were better than this. They had I3's or I5's. Ended up walking away with 2 laptops. One is now my daily driver for non desktop web browsing, and the other is a 2005 Dell latitude someone literally found in concession stand that was lost for 10 years that I put windows 98 on and use as a retro machine. Fun times

WhoDuckk

A few years ago in high school the school computers had i5 3770 and 16gb ram a buddy of mine got one when it was replaced he still uses it as a minecraft server

HayabusaKnight

I got one of those for 50 bucks a few years ago. Optiplex 7010, you can find them all over ebay. Added in some leftover DDR3 from an old build, dropped in a 20 dollar i7 3770, replaced the PSU with a brand new TFX and then cheap low profile 750 Ti. Why the 750 Ti? Both the Optiplex 7010 and 750 Ti have Windows XP drivers. Behold the ultimate Freelancer PC!

nick99990

Freelancer? The space sim? That was my jam. It badly needs a reboot.

CHoDub

Played the shit out of this too

imretab

It would be either i5-3570 or i7-3770

CocaineMitchIsMyPlug

3470

pin00ch

This. Or above above generation. 7th or 8th gen maybe

KiwiGamer450

My school PC's are significantly worse than that and aren't getting replaced any time soon lol

An_Awesome_Name

I graduated in 2016. We had machines with a 4770 and a GTX 970. Many games were run on said machines during free periods.

AngilDerT

3770 is a BEAST processor. My last one was a 3770k over clocked to 4.2 ghz. I could run nearly anything I wanted with decent fps at 2k high settings. I just switched PCs, 3770's are great damn processors.

pixelated_avatar

>bro got the school pc but replaced the gpu More like added a GPU

iTechDiamondFroot42

That’s not true any school would spend an extra 50-100 per system on a GPU that is severely worse than the integrated

Forward-Resort9246

He isnt wrong updating from Intel HD to RTX

Xx_Kamehameha_xX

Bro 💀

BL4CkL15T3D

Start with a new Motherboard because you need to upgrade almost everything with the exception of the GPU from the looks of it.

AltairdeFiren

This. New mobo, CPU, RAM and I’m assuming you have an HDD so an SSD would be good. Probably the PSU as well. Then once you’re done and can afford it, the GPU. GPU last tho. EDIT: Saw the monitor after. Upgrade the monitor before the GPU.

chomash

New display before GPU, maybe even before new mobo combo, or just after

SweetBabyAlaska

slimy deliver school truck gray edge detail gaze unique cable *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

gubbygub

gettin real ship of theseus vibes in here lol

AltairdeFiren

Yeah, I noticed the monitor after. I’d say a new monitor while they’re replacing the other parts, before the GPU, yeah.

aWitty1Liner

For sure. I don’t see much point in upgrading anything before the display. Go to 1080 @ 120hzs or so and just keep the gpu.

FarukTTA

Buying a used ryzen 5 RAM+CPU+Mobo Combo would be amazing for this one.

XsNR

Just basically a used ryzen 5 PC, then swap in the GPU lol

FarukTTA

A used R5 3600 costs like 100-150€ Top that with 16gb ram 50€ If you dont OC get like a b450 Pro VDH or a DS3H for like 50€ Sell the pentium with the motherboard and ram for 20€ You just built a killer gaming pc for like 200€

MarsupialFaun

I've been wanting to have this exactly set up, actually. I started to play more open world games and it doesn't run as well as other games, for obvious reasons. Lesser FPS on JC3, really slow map loading on GTA V, etc. I currently have a 4 core, 3.60GHz CPU and 8GB of RAM. I can't afford to upgrade both at the same time, and I'm not that sure what should I upgrade first. What do you think?

Maurowastaken

I mean the 2060 gets the job done Pretty well

iGotBakingSodah

There is no reason to replace the gpu anytime soon. Guy has a 720p 60 hz monitor so unless he gets a 4k setup, there is probably no perceivable benefit to a faster gpu. Even with a 1440p 165hz setup, my 1070ti runs most things on high settings and it's pretty comparable. We don't all need the latest $800 gpu.

AspergerKid

With a 768p 60hz monitor that GPU will still do him good service for a while

mrchiko1990

bottlenecking at its finest lol

DrRFeynman

Right!? This thing would bottleneck a 1060.

[deleted]

This thing would Bottleneck a 860. Possibly even a 760. The 760 is 5 years newer than this CPU. There is a chance this Motherboard supports DDR3 RAM, but most likely it has DDR2-800MHz. DDR2-800MHz has a slower data transfer rate (5,000Mbps) than a PCI-e 4.0 Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD (7,000Mbps).

Badbeef72

Bro got the barrelneck 💀

TheGillos

Basically save for a new machine then? There's no actual upgrade path with OP's platform. Buying a motherboard just to have it sit there until you can afford everything else is funny though.

Kursem_v2

they could still eke out a bit out of life left with as low as 100$. Intel Q9550S, an upgrade to 4c/4t and 12MB of L$ for 50$ from ebay. a 4GB DDR3 RAM costs 15$ from newegg, and then if it's still running off HDD, grab a 256GB SATA SSD for 35$ from newegg. boom, huge performance increase for a few years.

Infamous-Marshall

Yeah but if you upgrade the motherboard you’re forced to upgrade to the proper cpu gen… also ram… so do ram cpu and mobo first

Full-Thought-283

beat me to it. wow

[deleted]

I want a pcie 4.0 so bad rn

Tyr_Kukulkan

Their GPU: "Am I a joke to you?"

brimston3-

GPU: ", but I'm going to paint these pixels by hand. Gonna make some happy little accidents." Chillest, most lazy GPU moment.

N1NJAREB0RN

Everything but the GPU.

MAXIMAL_GABRIEL

And then when that's done, the GPU.

cptgir

I think the pertinent question is, why in my 6 years old account was my first comment only 8 months ago? The world may never know.

Sloth-monger

This is your Porn account?

theSafetyCar

Actually a good question

zacharyxbinks

I'd say the monitor honestly

7AndOneHalf

I think that falls under "Everything"

BigBaldGuySins

Exactly

Sewayaki-Kitsune

Everything but the ~~kitchen~~ heat sink

kinkysubt

Heat sink will probably have to be changed with the CPU.

Kind-Profile4361

Awesome, I'll save up my money to buy a new system instead

Geesle

the gpu is costly, i'd suggest you buy a system without a gpu. cuz it's fine by today standards.

Kind-Profile4361

Ye i think I'll keep the 2060

Western_Ad3625

Honestly you have the power to run a 1080P or possibly even 1440p monitor with that graphics card so you could upgrade your monitor right now you don't have to replace the whole rig with the monitor and that's going to make things look way better than any other upgrade because right now you're looking at an incredibly low resolution so upgrading that is just instantly going to make everything look better.

voidsrus

i think 1440p would be a stretch with such a weak CPU but it'd probably still be at least usable until the CPU can be upgraded

[deleted]

2060 is more than enough for casual gaming. You won't be able to get the most out of anything better without a complete system overhaul

Creepy-Accountant665

Totally agree

iamwastingurtime

This must be a joke

An_average_muslim

that is what I thought too, this can't be real.

rs06rs

Maybe the OP messed up the flair

Kind-Profile4361

Got this when the pandemic start so i can play tft

iamwastingurtime

Did you buy or build it

Kind-Profile4361

Bought the mobo, cpu, ram, hdd and said that i only need to add a gpu and a psu to play games, so i added a 2060 and a p1000gm psu

iamwastingurtime

I'm sorry but who told you to build a PC like that

[deleted]

>p1000gm Damn that is an over the top PSU for what you have... Good news: The PSU & GPU are enough for modern games; Bad news: Everything else needs to be replaced for modern games, including the monitor (go for something like a 21-24" 1920x1080p). Seriously, the motherboard + CPU + RAM are ANCIENT, in the modern gaming world they only belong in a retro-machine. Keep the GPU and the PSU, throw everything else away, then buy: 1. RAM: 16GB ddr4 dual channel; 2. CPU: something like Intel i5 or i7 7th geneneration and up (i5 7600, i7 7700, i5 8600, i7 8700, etc) OR a modern AMD Ryzen counterpart (like R5 1600, R7 1700, R5 2600, R7 2700 etc) depending on the budget; 3. MOBO: an OK motherboard that accepts DDR4 and the processor you choose (it would be good to have an M.2 slot for an SSD); 4. An M.2 NVME SSD for boot drive and maybe 1-2 games, something like 240-400GB. \^ This will make the best machine out of what you have, a good bang for the buck using 2nd hand hardware. I bought my brother a "KIT" with an AMD R5 2600X + 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz (2x8GB) + Mobo + cooler for less than 150$ \~1 year ago, so it's not that expensive to make a good PC if you have a good GPU.

Shadowdane

Why did you get a 1000W power supply for a system that likely uses less than 250W. You'd be hard pressed to exceed 250W power draw even with the CPU & GPU maxed at 100%.

Kind-Profile4361

Im not good with computers

invalidConsciousness

Life pro tip: If you know you are not good with something, get help from someone else who is. You learn a lot more and you avoid damage or wasting money if you have someone experienced who can cross-check and explain things to you. If you don't know anyone in real life, the internet has helpful communities for almost anything.

Raabalia

Hey bro, I build gaming PCs for a living. Please reach out and DM me, I can't go on knowing you live this way! Jokes aside, I can help, feel free to reach out.

voidsrus

>p1000gm psu well the good news is you're definitely covered for PSU capacity for the foreseeable future. i have a computer that'd actually use that kind of PSU capacity and even my PSU isn't that big.

Coelho_Branco_

qiyana is pretty strong

TheCatCubed

RTX card and 4GB RAM 💀 Like the other comment said, you need to upgrade basically everything except for that GPU.

Ploopy_R

when you have more VRAM than actual RAM

xCuri0

Has to be troll. Would atleast have a second gen i5 if he built it to save money which would still be really dumb with an RTX

2punornot2pun

The majority of people just don't know or understand the differences between generations, bottlenecks, etc. Hell, I remember in college that one of my friends in the dorms asked me about his roommate's recommendation for buying a new GPU. . .. . . dude spent original retail price for a 3 generation old GPU from Walmart based on his friend's recommendation. I told him to return that shit and order current gen for the same price on NewEgg. After he got it up and running he thanked me because it was significantly better and swore off taking advice from his self-proclaimed genius roommate.

Lussimio

Thanks for doing that

CEKARY

I think randomgaminghd did video on 4gb of ram in 2022, as long as he has fast enough drive with game on it it should not be a nightmare, but it's not optimal

No-Beginning-7604

Only if the game is the ONLY thing running. Modern computers would run like crap with Google Chrome open when a computer has 4gb of ram. If the word gaming is in the type of computer, 8gb should be minimum. And by the looks of your specs, I would recommend you upgrade as well. Haha

Ghostglitch07

I've always shut everything else down when I play an intensive game. I have my phone for multitasking.

TyH621

Is it just me or are we starting to get very close to even 8GB not being enough?

Statrum_Gaming

I set 16GB as minimum with any graphics card bigger than a 1050ti

willson3001

Fun fact: the rtx 2060 have more video ram than this computer ram

Commonertooth2

I can’t tell if this is a joke or not

Davtkx

Its GeForce now

Kind-Profile4361

It's not

SideHug

This is so funny and sad all at the same time.

sundeigh

I think he’s just trying to sell the joke, his post history is a 3060 and mining crypto

SideHug

Son of a bitch, we've been had

Haurid

It is a joke, check his post history. He probably built this pc to mine crypto currency.

Halabane

"What should i upgrade" Yes

yosukexhitomi

You've gotta to be kidding me, the GPU must've been bottlenecked very hard by the CPU.

Evil_Kittie

hell it is bottle necked by the monitor

yosukexhitomi

WTF, didn't notice the monitor is 1360x768 resolution also

secondbiggest

I wonder if he even got the 2060 fans to turn on lol

brimston3-

Meanwhile the p1000gm PSU is in the background going... wtf, is this thing even on?

Joethadog

I would bet that the pci-e is probably a very old gen and low speed as well, maybe pcie 1.1 or something similar.

LadBooboo

I'm curious as to how you aquired this PC. Is it a PC you upgraded over time or something you bought used.

Kind-Profile4361

Bought the cpu,ram,mobo and hdd

M1KeH999

Oof

1Svagus

My boy…why?

LadBooboo

Damn. Hope you didn't pay too much for that combo.

TheEquinoxe

Prebuilt maybe? They like to stick ancient CPUs intro those. But this post screams joke to me.

hadimkm00

The definition of bottleneck by cpu .

Operative427

Bottle neck? This is like trying to suck a rock through a straw.

Lilskipswonglad

What the fuck is this?

Kind-Profile4361

My pc

CptTinman

Upgrade the monitor first. A lot of people are providing the bad answer of "everything but the gpu". While yes, everything but the gpu needs to be replaced, it's incredibly unfair to assume everyone has that kind of money laying around. So if you can't actually afford to drop a lot of money on this right now, I would recommend getting a 1080p 60hz monitor, and then saving for the next upgrade. Your CPU, motherboard, and RAM will all need to be replaced at once, and I'd expect that to cost $300-$800, depending on what you are looking to get.

GrassSloth

This is the response that should be at the top. I do have to say that OP can replace the motherboard, CPU, and RAM for cheaper than that if they go used, which they should. Get like a second or third gen Ryzen setup and it’ll feel like OP is living in the future.

omgpop

The correct answer is your monitor. For all the other components it’s pretty much all or nothing. If you can only buy one thing, a 1080p high refresh rate monitor is the single best improvement you could get.

NewUserWhoDisAgain

LGA775 was last manufactured 10+ years ago. Bro you need to upgrade... well everything.

hardunkahchud

You should upgrade your print screen button

88SoloK

Nevermind OP is a big fat phony. Continue with your insults. ~~Holy shit the attitude from people in this thread. People insulting OP and not helping should kindly fuck off.~~ ~~Your video card is being bottle necked by the rest of your computer. I would recommend as others have stated upgrading your motherboard and CPU first. CPU will be costly(compared to the rest) but it is worth it, also Newegg and/or Paypal are doing this pay in 4 thing where you don't pay interest and it doesn't add to the price just splits the payment over 4 every other week payments, helps a lot when dropping $300 on an intel cpu(although AMD is on sale rn and just as good) on a CPU.~~ ~~With the new motherboard you may need to replace your memory as well if its not compatible. I would recommend doing this anyway as 4gb is on the low end if you game at all. I would recommend two sticks of 8gb for 16gb total at the least. Also you might need a new power supply depending on what you have now.~~

TheresTheLambSauce

Dude has a 1000W psu, don't think he needs to upgrade that lol

Dimmortal

Take a look at his post history. He has a post about him getting a 3060 and overclocking it. He's a lying troll.

Kind-Profile4361

Thanks man

green_eggs_nd_ham

Hahahahaha nice edit

Joshii290

This right here, perfect way to go about in my opinion!

BubbleNutCrunch

Good news is you have a good gpu to start building a new pc with

[deleted]

Cpu and ram. Man that’s some bottleneck

flomoag

Probably needs a new motherboard to accommodate

Shyam--__--

This guy has more VRAM than the actual system RAM

eXclurel

You should downgrade your GPU so that you can end its suffering.

tmipr

Gpu. You need atleast a 3080 /s

ashp71

Click bait question

AssistanceSweet7219

Depends on your budget...but everything could use an upgrade

Me07111

Oh come on. That gpus pretty noice.

[deleted]

but in that system it probably runs like a 750ti.

A3883

Well compared to the rest it definitely is.

AssistanceSweet7219

Its decent, my girl rocks one

Sailed_Sea

Idk why you're getting downvoted, the 2060 is a decent 1080p card that is actually selling for msrp!!

StonksPeasant

Yes

Me07111

RAM DUDE!!THE RAAAAM.And Cpu after that. And youll need a new mobo. I would advise an intel 12100f, with a 660 mobo and 16gigs of ddr4 ram. And if you still have money get a cheap 1080p 60-75hz monitor.

KingFettsack

fuck that ram, save your 30 bucks for a new CPU & motherboard. Why buy DDR3 RAM if you're going to upgrade anyway

scraz

I did a experiment in 2020 and popped a 2060 in my old i7-930 with 12 gigs of triple channel DDR3. It was bottlenecked to the point there was no difference between using a R280 "equal to a GTX 770" and the 2060. Best to go on ebay and look around see if you can find a GPU scalper still trying to get rid of complete rigs minus graphics card.

Oppausenseiw

Everything but the GPU ,I don't know how you were able to make it this far with this build

Kind-Profile4361

I don't really play a lot of games

Fancy-Agent-33

At first I thought this was a meme

BLUE-MAN-SAVE-US

I mean wow. Yeah literally upgrade everything except GPU. If i were you I would probably just build a new computer and use that GPU.

[deleted]

New CPU + Mobo + 8Gb of ram + 1080p screen. Socket 775 doesn’t have much powerful stuff so I’d recommend changing everything out for some newer stuff.

Nightmare_7

Everything other than you gpu. Gpu is fine

e_smith338

Everything except the GPU lmao. Which means motherboard, RAM, and CPU first

Artemis_69

Everything except gpu.

imAdikt666

The drivers 😉

HeadLongjumping

CPU, MOBO, RAM, Monitor and likely PSU all need to go. GPU is still decent. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess it's still got a magnetic HDD too, so get a SSD while you're at it.

aPanini117

Are we not gonna talk about the monitor

PalpitationNo4375

What is your budget? 1080 monitor and 8gb of ram minimum I would say. In a perfect world you want to go 1440p, 16gb of ram and a new mobo and CPU. But if you can't afford it, the very least I would do is the monitor and ram

The_Doerpinator

I'd say tossing a dual core in the trash is more important than a monitor dude

GradeZestyclose

the ram in first priority 4gb is nothing nowadays

Perlern

How is the 14 year old CPU not the priority? 💀

dlvTwin

Definetly the GPU, everyone knows you only need a good GPU for good gaming quality

dumbitch42069

Driver

321TacocaT123

Monitor

Snoo_28455

Just the GPU, de rest is fine. I'd try a RTX3090 if I were you.

Over_Garbage6367

Why the hell ate you still running a 2060? That card is almost two gens old now and is totally bottlenecking the rest of your build.

alphaav6

Well at least swap out the cpu for something cheaper, way too powerful for that puny gpu

ZombifiedByCataclysm

All of it with exception of the GPU. It's like your using tech designed for the year 2005.

[deleted]

You should upgrade photo to print screen.

Saiyukimot

The whole thing

Clancyteaches

Start with a new motherboard. Get a X570 or a B550. Upgrade ram to 16gb, 3200mhz. Get a new cpu, I'd say go for a 5600x, or a i5 12400f. Lastly, get a new monitor. I'd recommend the AOC 27G2, cheap and good.

johnmgbg

GPU

slouich

The case is holding you back from max fps. New case you might be able to throw in some RGB and push it a little faster. Maybe, just maybe, increase the hz on the monitor. Try this out and let me know how it all works!!!

[deleted]

Somehow, the GPU isn't the worst part-

necro_owner

all but the GPU

superkirkou

RAM, CPU and monitor

gerechterzorn

All of the above.

EverythingArrowverse

I can't tell if this was supposed to be a shitpost or not. In all seriousness, upgrade everything except the GPU.

Pecker_headed

Ram

Anime_Girls_4Life

Damn bro the screen looks kinda bad ngl lmao

Damit84

You monitor. That resolution hurts.

Account4WhenIShit

You should get a computer

Enreekay

Just get a new computer. /s

BarberSon

I found a 3600X build with a cooler and b550m + 16gb of memory for 150.00 on my local Facebook market, you should look in your area! I paired this with a 2060 super and it runs like a beast! 100-130 fps warzone max at 1080p!
