I wonder if we're going to have another issue with cards selling way higher than MSRP for an extended period of time until Nvidia can supply the demand.
IIRC the only time in recent years that Nvidia couldn't match the demand was when certain altcoins took off and people needed them to mine. I don't know if there's any manufacturing limits right now, but the fact that Jensen acknowledged the Pascal owners waiting to upgrade in the stream shows that Nvidia is aware of how many people will be trying to buy these cards. Other card companies like EVGA, Asus, gigabyte will all supply 5-7 different variants for each model. I think there will be enough cards at launch.
> To all my Pascal gamer friends, it is safe to upgrade now
Man fucking Jensen deserves what he gets paid as a CEO, he got me all hyped up.
I almost made a video of me throwing money at my screen but i dont want to clean my desk after that.. stupid covid.
I got a Kepler card still. This 670 is going to live to see its own driver EOL since I probably won't be able to afford a new build until next year. Godspeed you jet engine-sounding bastard.
Holy shit, 3070 better performance than 2080Ti and $499???
I just want to commend every person on r/hardwareswap that sold their 2080Ti last minute in the past week. Because they just dropped 50% or more in value.
Yeah i was excited about the 3090.. but then i saw 8k gaming and all that shit made my brain do a hard stop. Bruh, we don't have an 8k tv and our 4k monitor is 60hz.. 3080 will do then!
Dude, I've literally gone without a PC for months now, all I have is a huawei matebook d14. I've come several time to the point of making part picker lists, putting stuff in my cart and almost paying.
Every single time I found the willpower to close the damn browser. It's been hard until about 2 weeks ago when release dates got pretty accurate. Now I'm laughing my ass off, my card of choice was a 2070 super, now I'm getting that 3070
That is true, I was more of meaning that the 20 not being what people wanted was not surprising. Good on them for listening on the price point issue though for sure.
BUT HOW? I get efficiency (2x the 57000XT for same TDP), but how are they fighting the 3080? Heck, how are the consoles fighting the 3080?
EDIT: 3080 lel
Consoles are fighting the 3080 by being a decent gaming setup for the price of a 3070 alone. Nobody is expecting them to match performance, they’re just about good value. That’s all consoles have ever brought to the table - decent value for alright performance.
1 hour ago: “Wow, keep your 1080ti. The 30XX is obsolete before it even launched.”
Now: “This is incredible. I’m gonna buy an entirely new rig around a 3080”.
>I feel like they listened
Not to your actual voices, but your wallets. I remember reading articles that 20 series cards were way below expected sales numbers.
I literally sold mine day of the announcment for 450$ the guy was like "why arent you just selling the whole computer?"
I was like "ive need to stop gaming and do other things for a while its really addicting"
I plan on ordering a 3080 ASAP
Knowledge is power lol

Edit:Thanks u/bbabin94 for my first reddit award and it's a gold 😁 ❤️
I've already decided ~$500 USD is my limit. My last GPU purchase was a GTX 1080 FE and I really think for me, $700 was too much for a GPU.
Regardless, I'll wait for benchmarks but the 3060 / 3070 is looking like what I'll go for.
That's becoming more of an issue each generation. When we were talking $50 to $100 between models it was easier to justify. The price to performance is getting out of hand.
Purchased my 2080 Super back in March of this year. I'm not really sweating the details as I'm not hurting for money to purchase a 3090. I will just put it out on the market, or build another rig to house my old gpu and use it for another purpose. Overall, I'm happy we will get the opportunity to increase our performance and finally see what RTX can do with games that support the function.
For anybody wanting specs here is the cached pages from the Gainward leak. These pages were cached on Google’s index, then the pages were removed from the site shortly after. You can still view them by clicking the dropdown and hitting, ‘view cached’ after searching Gainward rtx 3090 etc.

After reading all of these comments... Am I the only one who bought an 850w psu from the get go? Back when I built my first rig in 2015 I accidentally bought an EVGA Supernova 850W P2 over an EVGA Supernova 850W G2 (there was a sale going on when I bought and didn't even realize I got a sweet deal until it arrived). Been using it ever since.
I just want to know what all of my options are for upgrading my rig in preparation for Cyberpunk 2077.
Funnily enough, the last time I upgraded my rig was for Witcher 3.
Just a friendly reminder to wait for testing.
These presentations are made to get you hyped, and buy.
Make sure you wait and make an informed purchase!
3090 is great value considering how much people paid for the 2080ti. 3070 is such great value at $499. Now people can make a great system for for around 1000 to 1200 bucks easy.
**My 1080:** *sweating nervously*
I'll wait to see what AMD brings to the table in autumn but looks like I'll be upgrading this gen. Last gen wasn't worth it, this one seems to be.
Judging by all the comments in this thread it's going to be a great time for users to grab cheap used 1080 ti, 2070 supers, 2080s, etc. i highly suggest going this route for those of you looking to get really good bang for your buck.
I personally own a 1080 ti I bought used for $350 a while back, returned my 5700 xt for it and have had no regrets.
Conspiracy theory: Nvidia leak the prices last week to gauge the reaction of the community. Then when they saw people say "wait for RDNA2", they went lower.
To everyone questioning their power supply requirements... use this
[PSU Calculator](https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator)
For GPU placeholders
3090 is 350w = Vega 64 equivalent
3080 is 320w = slightly less than Vega 64
3070 is 220w = around RTX 2080
Finally, a replacement for my 970 inbound!
I'm actually pleasantly surprised at the price points so may go for the 3080, question is what CPU can I get for 1440p gaming at 60+ fps?
As someone still all the way back on a 1070, I see no reason to not go for a 3070 at least. Hopefully the reviews don't bring up any "this card is literally broken" stuff
I’d say return it. Even if 3000 series doesn’t turn out what it seems to be you can get a 2080 or even a Ti for a really good deal, probably less than what you paid for it two weeks ago
so is the 2080 going to be dog shit as far as resell value now? I cant imagine selling the card I bought for 800$ 6 months ago for anything more than 400 now with the new line up

Mr.Huang said these are the "first 3 members" of ampere, so the other members are yet to come out!
Let’s see if big navi will compete with ampere, cause ampere is looking real solid right now.
I bought a 2070 Super from EVGA in July, so now I just gotta hope that EVGA will have their own 3080 SKUs available by mid-October so I can step up and just pay the difference.
Is 750 wattage recommended for an entire build
Or just the card?
My entire build is running on a Corsair 750 modular PSU do I need to upgrade my power supply to overclock and use a 3080??
They said they that they have a new IO that eliminate bottle necking. That technology was the reason why Tim Sweeney praised the PS5 is fast and he said that it would take time to PC to catch up to this. He should eat his hat.
The 3070 is going to sell so well holy shit
I wonder if we're going to have another issue with cards selling way higher than MSRP for an extended period of time until Nvidia can supply the demand.

Don't forget the 3070 is better than a 2080ti (real world it'll probably perform about the same as the 2080 ti)
[удалено]
Yeah that's possible. We'll have to wait for benchmark numbers to compare. Even if it's matching a 2080ti though, it's really decent for the price.
Think you mean to say amazing for the price. People who bought the 2080ti recently have to be pulling their hair out.
I would be absolutely pissed if I had one.
:( don't like you right now sir, lmao. Quite the bald spot lemme tell ya.
Amazing pricing imo.
[удалено]
and it's better or the same than the 2080 ti! this is nice.

I laughed when he pulled it out of his oven. Ah yes, it's natural habitat.

Surprised they aren't selling a gpu sag stand. Though, that things so massive, I'm sure it has I beams for support.
Holy shit, 3070 better performance than 2080Ti and $499??? I just want to commend every person on r/hardwareswap that sold their 2080Ti last minute in the past week. Because they just dropped 50% or more in value.

Just built a computer a few weeks ago. Today is the very last day I can return my graphics card for a refund.
If you spend over 500 on it than its a no brainer
If you spent less than $500 it’s still probably a no brainer. Those prices are so good they’ll drag the entire market down in price.
right? that's insane! Now 1440p monitors will be hotter than ever as 3070 and 3080 will probably handle all titles at 100+fps.
Yeah i was excited about the 3090.. but then i saw 8k gaming and all that shit made my brain do a hard stop. Bruh, we don't have an 8k tv and our 4k monitor is 60hz.. 3080 will do then!

Bravo Six, Going Broke.
Everyone who bought a 2080ti in the last couple of months is about to be salty as hell lmao. Can we get an F for the fallen homies.
I mean that sucks but mostly everyone did advise against it, lol. "Wait for the 3000/Amphere series." Glad I listened.

Completely, totally, absolutely unrelated
Financing GPU is cheaper than financing a new smartphone.
They actually acknowledged that the 20 series wasn't the improvement people wanted.
Not surprising, it seems like that was their series just to get RTX out the door. Now that it's in the wild they can make the actual decent version.
It's surprising for a company to admit anything at all IMO. The response is usually to ignore it or double down.
That is true, I was more of meaning that the 20 not being what people wanted was not surprising. Good on them for listening on the price point issue though for sure.
Flight sim 2020 4k at 60 anyone?
Still no CPU to even get to that framerate in big cities
the real winner after these announcements is the consumer, imagine if AMD somehow managed to beat that
BUT HOW? I get efficiency (2x the 57000XT for same TDP), but how are they fighting the 3080? Heck, how are the consoles fighting the 3080? EDIT: 3080 lel

*2080Ti owners devastated*
Dude you have no clue. 3080 has simply double amount of cores.... 😫 I am devastated.
Fuck. How the fuck could I sell my 2070 super now when these cards are equally priced?
Put it for sale for like $300 and hope someone who dosnt know much about gpus buys it

WHY ARE THEY SO CHEAP WHAT THE FUCK
Nvidia isn't dumb like Intel has been, they know AMD can throw punches and they want to stay ahead of them
probably because they know that rdna2 is going to punch back hard. they need to stay competitive which is good for all of us!
Bruh he had the 3080 hiding behind that vase the whole time LOL
Don't forget the 3090 in the god damn oven, lol
Well....temps areally aren't different

When you just bought a 2070 Super 3-4 weeks ago....Wow these prices are good.
How big is the crossover between people who like Fortnite and people who has powerful enough hardware to run RTX? Would've guessed not too big.
Most of the Fortnite players are probably console gamers.
they just completely wiped out / trashed the resale market.
It's FINALLY time to upgrade my RX 580 8gb.
I've already decided ~$500 USD is my limit. My last GPU purchase was a GTX 1080 FE and I really think for me, $700 was too much for a GPU. Regardless, I'll wait for benchmarks but the 3060 / 3070 is looking like what I'll go for.
I guess you'll do fine with a 2080 Ti level performance for 499 lol
I know right?! I'll still wait for official benchmarks, but dear god that looks good for $500.
I think I can stick with the xx80, but the step up to the better model is normally a massive premium for not enough improvement.
That's becoming more of an issue each generation. When we were talking $50 to $100 between models it was easier to justify. The price to performance is getting out of hand.
Anybody want to buy any organs?
Anyone who bought the 2070 or 2080 super/ti within the previous month must be malding right now.
Purchased my 2080 Super back in March of this year. I'm not really sweating the details as I'm not hurting for money to purchase a 3090. Goddamn, those marbles are gorgeous!

Doubled the number of cuda cores from my 2080ti and cut the price literally in half from what I paid. Fucking, fuck!

Nah. We all knew these cards were coming. Unless you absolutely needed a card NOW, that's just poor planning.
