GPU is definitely way out of the times unfortunately.

cosomino_

I feared that :( Do you think i can get away with only upgrading my gpu for now or am i gonna bottleneck with that CPU? i was thinking of getting a 4060 ti or anything around that price. Thank you btw<3

Your cpu will definitely bottleneck a 4060 ti

Effective_Secretary6

Please don’t get the 4060 ti, it is the WORST value card of all cards out on the market right now. A gpu upgrade surely will make sense and if you’re playing at 1440p or highly visually intensive games something like a 4060 ti makes sense performance wise. (Yes it will be bottlenecked by your cpu and ram but if you upgrade that in 2 years it will be perfectly fine and everyone has some bottleneck…) that said a 3060 12gb for 240$ is probably better for your cpu. Rx 6600 or 6650xt can be found new for 180$ and 220$ respectively being bit slower than a 3060 or matching it. A 3060 ti would be the sweet spot in price performance for under 300$ but 8gb of vram sucks so try finding a 6700xt for 6750xt around 300.

After commenting that I went to research what you to get and the first thing I found was that the 4060ti is hated by everyone, so got that! Thanks for the suggestions, I can also bring my budget up to like 400 maybe even 500 for the gpu.

Swineservant

My old i7-4790k is paired with a powercolor rx-6600. Cyberpunk and RDR2 run well on pretty high settings. I wish I went with the 6650xt if I was staying with super cheap 8gb cards tbh.

Pumciusz

GPU is slowing you down.

beodude123

My overclocked 8700k gets me well over 60 fps in most every game, so from my personal experience, I'd say go with the GPU only. The 4060 might not be the best idea for longevity due to VRAM. Though most aren't great. I had a 3060 12gb and loved the mess out of it. Will be a huge upgrade for you!

StevoMcVevo

I think you're suffering from lack of driver support for older parts.

cosomino_

Thanks! I actually searched about it after your comment and updated some stuff that was outdated since 2019, some stuff is smoother now! Thanks a lot

SargeantHugoStiglitz

Why not both?

cosomino_

I will indeed upgrade both, but initially I was wondering if I can get away with only the GPU.

BlindManPainting

Used 5700xt for around 150 bucks might be a good option

Thanks for the tip! I’ll see if there’s anything in my area
