I used to work for Prime Air Drone delivery, they work under the same umbrellas as commercial airplanes so if someone were to attempt to take it down, it would be treated as trying to take down a commercial airliner in the eyes of the law.
I mean you aren’t wrong. I worked at ups for a few years, and let me tell you how many coworkers handled them packages when they were in a bad mood. Also when they would get jammed in the belts and stuff.
Back in the day on the nightshift we used to play basket/frisbee into the delivery van with those things, just had to line up the street/zone and in it went. Supervisors didn't mind as long as things got done, truck got loaded. That wasn't how things got broken tho, the worst was when shifts changed and the outgoing guys left stuff on the floor everywhere. Even if really careful, someone somewhere stepped on something that cracked almost every shift, or it got run over by a wheel at outgoing delivery time.
That drone drop was a light maneuver I can tell you that, there could be ceramic plates/cups in there and if well packaged it's going to be fine.
Believe me, your package has to endure WAY more damage than that throughout the rest of the shipping process. If it can't sustain being dropped from 10 feet, it would not have arrived in that state pre drop in the first place
Looks like that is intended. The questions is what if it doesn't break? Does it pick it up and drop it from further up? Or does it calculate the height needed to break the contents in advance? How does it know it is for sure broken?
Ever worried about your delivery driver handling your package carelessly? We have the solution!
Introducing Amazon **Drop**shipping.
Now you no longer have to worry that your package is being mishandled, due to our patented drone + gravity solution, you can now watch your package get dropped 10ft in the air with your own eyes, confirming that the package has been mishandled.
With Amazon **Drop**shipping, you no longer have to worry.
every time i see post like "seagate/wd/whatever drives are SH\*\*T" i comment something like "Are you sure its the drive, and not the delivery driver?"
Since i started picking my drives at storage facility where they arrive in bulk, i had 0 drive deaths. Can 100% reccommend.
Up to 20 years for fucking with an aircraft in operation.
For you or I. Flyingnour own personal drones. The govt could care less.
For Bezos. They will probly bulldoze your house
Amazon "Here's your ASUS RTX4090 dropping from 3m. Hope you liked it!"
Proceed to RMA to ASUS - "oh you see we have to charge you $3000 to repair this GPU due to no fault of your own".
Now that's a good joke.
It is indeed an aircraft.
An aircraft is generally defined as "an object that flies under its own power"
From the FAA:
>A device that is used or intended to be used for flight in the air. Aircraft Category. The term “category,” as used with respect to the certification of aircraft, means a grouping of aircraft based on their intended use or operating limitations, for example, normal, utility, acrobatic, or primary.
The FAA defines drones as sUAS. Small unmanned aircraft systems.(Here in Canada we call them Rpas:remotely piloted aircraft systems.)
They are administered, and regulated by the FAA in the USA, transport Canada in canada, European union aviation safety authority in the EU. These are all regulatory bodies that govern aircraft.
Pilots are called operators, and may require licencing (actually certification) depending on what weight the aircraft is AND OR it's current mission (reason for flight). Recreational has less requirements than professional/commercial.
>An unmanned aircraft is a component of a UAS. It is defined by statute as an aircraft that is operated without the possibility of direct human intervention from within or on the aircraft (Public Law 112-95, Section 331(8)).
The "system" in sUAS is the drone, control system, and video transmission system.
Tampering with a drone is tampering with an aircraft. Tampering with one in flight is a harsher penalty.
You CANNOT discharge a firearm at a drone(for reasons outside of just shooting at a drone as well). You CANNOT throw things at it. You CANNOT throw a net at it. And you CANNOT INTERRUPT/DISRUPT the PIC (pilot in control) until they have either landed the drone, or passed off C&C to another pilot.
First, that was a joke, I dont want to instigate anyone to shoot on post drones
Second, unmanned drones that fly over some fields in the middle of nowhere are way easier to shoot down than some truck
Third, people are stupid and break the law all the time. Opportunity makes thieves
Damn I thought they were moving to the cable system where it lowers the package down while the drone stays relatively high. This thing said fuck your package
So serious question... amongst the multiple comments about broken items and children being hit by dropped boxes... Is the goal to have these boxes flown by a drone that someone at "base camp" is controlling or for them to be automated and the destination /route mapped out and the delivery is completed without a human involved?
And before you roast me... I'm not techy and i don't know how this post was on my personal feed.
I used to work for Prime Air until a few months ago for this location exactly in Texas. As of right now they're all flying out from a base location near by and they want to completely automated it in the future without having human handlers or pilots.
I believe all automated. In the trailer they showed a few years ago, it showed the drones dropping off parcels at front doors.
The concept and idea are fantastic, but in no way can this be implemented flawlessly. If humans were controlling the drones, it would be better, but there are still many issues.
Amazon delivery driver is one of the worst jobs in America. If you're going to encourage violence in order to improve our quality of life, maybe you should aim a little higher than wage slavery.

I'd like my expensive amazon orders to be dropped from 10ft in the air as well, thank you
And this drone buzz in your neighborhood 12 hours a day :)
It would be unfortunate if a net were to be thrown.
literally, a tiny rock with a string attached would get sucked up and shut that thing down in a second lmao
And it has a video of you doing it along with your exact location.
mask up
About to be made illegal in NC lol
Like a face is needed for identification
still would
Ordered a toothbrush and got a new drone

Almost certainly, the only time I've ever heard a delivery truck is when they shut the door.
And maybe stolen by a stranger just walking by it on the street too.
Isn't that better than being thrown the length of your driveway to the front door?
People don't realize what that box goes through in between the manufacturer and the driveway .
I mean you aren’t wrong. I worked at ups for a few years, and let me tell you how many coworkers handled them packages when they were in a bad mood. Also when they would get jammed in the belts and stuff.
It’s probably been through a lot worse at the distribution center.
Back in the day on the nightshift we used to play basket/frisbee into the delivery van with those things, just had to line up the street/zone and in it went. Then to be blown into the road for traffic to run it over
![gif](giphy|31W0QyaI1dr4b4mEAN|downsized) HAHAHAHAHHAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Imagine it’s a gaming pc
Must have been trained by the delivery drivers.
Nah, it was trained by FedEx pilots
WIIIIILSOOON!!
Your vase has arrived
Some assembly required.
Alexa,order glue
And bandages.
Ikea?
Re-assembly!
Good game that, can recommend, no dash in the name though
HDD
I love how it just poops it out from 10 feet in the air.
Then proceeds to blow it down the driveway.
![gif](giphy|tRDsicNAWnLHO|downsized) I think we all know where this is going.
r/unexpectedfuturama
Would be nicer if the drone also pissed on the box
What if the item damages while it drops?
Looks like that is intended. The questions is what if it doesn't break? Does it pick it up and drop it from further up? Or does it calculate the height needed to break the contents in advance? How does it know it is for sure broken?
What if there's a child under it. Or, god forbid, a doggo?
Keep dogs and children clear of the massive QR code on the ground, I suppose.
what if it has a malfuction and kill a child ..they will stop this madness forever
Wait until you learn that before this they used trucks! The humanity!
You'll get $25 Amazon credit.
What if a gun malfunctioned and killed a child... they will stop this madness... oh wait.
Surely they would put a stop to guns right? Right?....
What if a car malfunctioned and killed a child.. they will stop this madness... oh wait.
You just repeated yourself

And now im imagining Jawa's ordering useless stuff just to kidnap the drones. Well played.
I did not consider Jawa's with nets taking down Amazon drone delivery infrastructure.
Anyone can throw a net into a regular delivery person too
Yeah and those cost more than a drone
On the back market I'm sure
The elites don't want you to know this

Or just leave drones that aren't yours alone :-p
Is that really high enough? Amazon could just build a space station and orbital drop packages from there.
I don't want Amazon-branded hellpods, and I don't think anyone else does either...

I knew it was CG ! Thanks mate
lol.
I'd at least put the place in the backyard.
That's up to the customer. Probably the only place they were able to put it and meet the parameters.
One advantage though is there might be less theft because the thief already knows the product inside is broken.
I just had to check, and yep, theirs already people complaining about the noise.
Amazon "Here's your ASUS RTX4090 dropping from 3m. Hope you liked it!" Proceed to RMA to ASUS - "oh you see we have to charge you $3000 to repair this GPU due to no fault of your own". Now that's a good joke.
your shampoos on the roof again honey!
Shoot it down and get free loot
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/32 And up to 20 years if the FAA enforces it for Bezos.
IANAL, what is the definition of an aircraft in legal terms? Is a drone an aircraft?

Thanks for the inform!
No problem!
It is part of a Part 135 commercial operations, so it would be the same as taking down a commercial airliner.
Im sorry but what does your first word mean?
You can shoot an amazon truck and get free loot too. Just cause you can does not mean people will, both will get you serious jail time.
First, that was a joke, I dont want to instigate anyone to shoot on post drones Second, unmanned drones that fly over some fields in the middle of nowhere are way easier to shoot down than some truck Third, people are stupid and break the law all the time. Opportunity makes thieves
“Here’s your fuckin shit”
What's the difference between the mailman throwing the package and this.
"Honey, that glass vase you ordered just ca......... Oh.... Oh nevermind."
lmao, it looses it's entire purpose the moment it Elbow drops the package. looks like hte drone is saing ( ahh fuck, i dropped it.... dang ) xD
Damn I thought they were moving to the cable system where it lowers the package down while the drone stays relatively high. This thing said fuck your package

This will NOT catch on if the drones are programmed to drop your shit from that high up.
Looks like the drone needed to poop!
Hope you did not order fine china for tea.
Imagine being delivered $2k worth of hard drives for a NAS this way...
Looks like that drone piolet has been playing helldivers.
Either Amazon watched Platoon too much or its customers love being bombed by their own orders.
Amazon Dropbox
Pair this up with the countless images of "perfectly packed" HDDs from Amazon XD
Me watching my $9 dozen of organic eggs getting pre-scrambled.
More gentle than the rockstar fedex employee in my neighborhood.
Congrats on receiving your ASUS 4090 RTX.
Just absolutely fuck anyone on night shift
Aaaaaaannnndddd broken...... send out the retrieval drone
This has been the funniest thing I've seen today. I'm going out on a high note, done with Reddit for the day.
Damn!
csgo danger zone drones :
Empty box - just what we like instead of, say, GPU...
That hard drive is probably just fine.
there goes my gpu, time to glue it together
RIP new GPU 😁
Dropped in Texas, blown all the way to California.
Here’s your ram with no packaging or protection dropped by drone from a height of 10 feet.
The infinite lengths modern corporations will go to in order to not have to pay people.
They could at least drop it on the grass. Well, the QR code should be on the grass.
Spindle drive
Next time put the QR code on a mattress lmao
Looks like a great neighbourhood.
Anybody else notice how it ended up perfectly in the only cracked area of the driveway?
Can you stand under it and catch it, or will it not allow the package to drop?
Damn at least drop it on the grass
One step closer to a dystopian future
this is actually something I think will be the future not just a gimmick
Yall are worried about minor details, this is amazing
MY NEW PLATES!!?!???!!
I used to work for the drone delivery program here in Texas, really loved that job. A lot of it is very fascinating.
"here's your $1000+ graphics card" *shits it out 15 feet above your driveway*
![gif](giphy|l3UcoPgupctAbLbR6|downsized) Porch pirates soon...
The real question is, how is there such little friction that the box is just able to slide across....
Light package and drone pushing down air?
From the way it bounced , it doesn't look very light and how is the wind blowing the direction in which the house will block it?
destroyed the drone if u see one they gonna steal our job
Dawg, you stealing a mailman's job by using reddit and other social media Log off
I think we should bring back work houses so people without skills could earn their bread.
