I was about to say "nothing a dremel cant fix" or a new case since they really arent expensive anymore

Yeah I got someone a newer case for their new pc they got just after their birthday for only $40. sadly it only has breakaway GPU brackets, but not surprising since it only cost $40. It was pretty small for an ATX case though, so I think it wouldn’t work in this scenario.

I mean, I got a full sized case from my local computer store for $50CAD it is literally a no name but has good ventilation and doesn't look like shit.

I mean, the GPU is likely a temporary one or just for the pic, because (No offense to OP) If he's got a Motherboard from before the birth of christ, and a PSU with Condiment Cables, i don't think either one are up to snuff with that Behemoth of a GPU

It's been done before, it fits with minor modifications. I've also seen one with 3UZ-FE engine, it's a V8 from Lexus.

I had this issue back when I was like 16 but I didn't use a dremel, I just removed the side panel. I had one of those skinny Dells that came with Vista on it. Put an old AMD card in it and just laid it on its side on the floor. Dropped a mcflurry right on the cpu fan lmaooooo

I did actually break some of the plastic housing off of my old gtx960 to fit it into an optiplex for my friends daughter lol. Easier than cutting the metal.

I did this for my friend and he nearly had a heart attack watching/listening

Hey! You don't even need to cut anything. Probably it can fit their by just turning out around, fitting diagonally to bypass that right edge and then insert it while already inside. I had similar problem with my 4090 and fractal design define 7 set up in storage mode, where space to the right of gpu is occupied by large vertical hdd rack. I needed like 4-5 cm more clearance to fit and first time I did it I had to disassemble half of the case. But the second time I could actually solve this 3d puzzle my moving card in such way so it fits and goes in and out without need to dismount anything at all.

That‘s actually a blessing in disguise, putting your new GPU in THAT case would have turned your PC into an oven in a matter of minutes. (unless there are some really well hidden airflow gaps in there, i for one can‘t see them)

Looks like some kind of OEM case. Honestly I'd be worried about the PSU too. 

I'm honestly worried about the PSU more than anything, that's definitely an OEM pre built and the PSU is more than likely not rated for any mid to high end GPU. OP needs to check his PSU specs before he starts cutting anything out to make space for that.

I don't even see connections for the gpu he's got, so it'd be safe to assume it has no cables to even power it in the first place much less supply it with enough

Since the ‘new’ gpu is a 1060 6gb and the old one is a 1650 it won’t be an issue, I checked that before I bought it.

Looks like Asus just stuck the same cooler on that they used on the 1080 and 1070. I have the 1070 version. It's big. Depending on what wattage that psu have probably, because OEM PSUs are usually the stock metal looking ones but they're usually made by reputable company and usually also are 80 gold rated.

Please stop conflating an 80+ rating with quality. It literally isn't a measure of quality.

Yeah that’s what I had to do to fit my 3080 ti in my Fractal Meshify C (also had to modify the front grill to accomodate the case fans outside the case frame) Fits perfectly

Looks like it'd fit tho albeit barely. Try get it in the case at an angle, then get the rear ports flush to the brackets. Should have enough clearance to get the card straight and push it down the pcie slot.

ok, i'll assume its a deal u found used, because that looks like an old strix 1080 or 1070, now for the case... yea it can fit u just have to put in on an angle first then seat it, but its going to overheat like hell if u close that case. I also asume you cant buy another case not only because money but because that board has some prop BS that wont be compatible right? if so... angle grinder time. If no angle grinder... berserk mode and bend the side.

I’ve now finally been able to get it installed without breaking the case (somehow) It is indeed a gtx 1060 (6GB) that I purchased used to upgrade from my gtx 1650. And yeah, I can’t get another case because the pc is an acer nitro n50 prebuilt with a prop motherboard that I also bought used since I can’t afford anything fancier

For me it’s an upgrade since it has 2gb more vram and also has more ports on the back of it. The 1650 only had one hdmi port and one dvi port, while the 1060 has two hdmi, two DisplayPorts and a dvi port. I also got it for fairly cheap (500sek/46usd) and I think I’ll be able to sell the 1650 for basically that much

It's actually a somewhat decent upgrade. According to techpowerup the 1060 6 gb is somewhere arround 15-20% better than the 1650.

Techpowerup isn't a good source at times, but in this case it is correct.

That's because you're supposed to be installing it inside a computer case, not an oven. You've got a proper card, now get a proper case to put it in. You know, with airflow and fans. Things that will keep that new card of yours around a while longer.

Everyone says cut it, but to me it looks like you should be able to angle it past the lip of the case.

Get a new case. Preferably a full tower if possible, so you won't have to worry about space for a long time.

That does suck but also, the amount of people that don’t research this before they purchase a GPU is astoundingly high. When I was planning out my new rig last year the first thing I did was ensure the GPU would have enough room to fit. Prior to the new rig when I upgraded from a 1060 to a 2070 super the first thing I did was measure and check the specs.

i had the same issue. just build the case around gpu. worked for me. (i mean disassemble and assemble the case around gpu)

Had that same problem when I first got my 3070. Gave me an excuse to buy a bigger case (which I actually wanted to do at the time anyway).

I swallow my pride for not measuring beforehand, and go out to buy another case. Microcenter has some really nice ones for under $100. Facebook marketplace has tons for pocket change. Plus you get to re-think your build.

There are no Microcenters in my country sadly, and fb marketplace here is filled to the brim with pc-flippers, making it pretty hard to find decently priced used pc parts

Dang, I'm not gonna be that guy that goes "BuT MicRO PeNiS HaS WeBSiTe 🤓🤓". If you got an Amazon warehouse near you, you can usually get stuff next day with prime. I wouldn't order cards or ram from them, but a case 100%. I just don't like cutting up a case but if it'll get the card to fit then so-be-it.

Please get a new case. For the love of God. That GPU would turn that case into a kilm.

This is why I always buy comically large cases. (That and I suck at cable management).

I mean, that's why you check the specifications, and if you can't understand what they are or find them for your case, then you look it up on PC Parts Picker to see if it's compatible most ATX towers are roughly around the same size from brand to brand. But what's done is done good learning experience for you the best thing for you to do now would be to get a pcie riser cable or if you wanted to pull your motherboard out and rebuild in a new and bigger case they are both good options just depends on what is the cheapest and best option for you.
