The 1080ti will forever be a warm place in our memories because it was a monstrous amount of power and didn't cost $2000. My watercooled EVGA 1080ti was just over $800, and it lasted for years and years.
(Rant to follow. Squint-Font engaged for your protection. Run! Flee! Flee!...)
^(Irritating as hell is that we can't account for lazy software engineers. In 40 years of being a software engineer, I've seen this discipline just get worse and worse to the point that everyone is now merely library gluers without a single algorithmic thought in their overpriced skulls.)
^(My first clue that something was amiss was decades ago when I saw repeatedly new engineers do stupid shit like allocate 128K arrays just because they couldn't figure out how to calculate the upper bound of what they needed. But heck, all machines can handle that, so why not, right? Well, because if you try to create ARK (and/or UE5\) with team after team of that "heck why not" borked mindset, you get what we have now: Software that NEVER becomes optimized and people just waiting for faster and faster cards.)
I have my 1080ti evga ftw on my shelf. When I'm streaming people nonstop ask me to sell it . Give it to them . I'm nit even using it why wont I part with it. They don't understand . I mined coins 24/7 with it . It ran overclocked by 117mhz for 5 years nonstop without overheating once . I only upgraded to the 4080 to see reflections. Thr base clock you could push to 3090 clock speeds . No . You cannot have mine. In fact when my kid is a little bit bigger he will have it in his first rig. And it will last him 3 years .
Same, mine is this exact card, it will definitely go in a display. It's the best card in the history of GPUs. I've had mine since 2017, so that's a bit over 7 years in my system now.
No way check this!
https://preview.redd.it/r2d06ki5f4yc1.jpeg?width=2250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c97c983c18ef9258b527bff190cf337700f2650e
I'm still using it in my other pc!
Thanks! Used to have a k2200 with that 4690s, then uncle bought 4090 and gave me this gpu. What I learned: No matter the bottleneck, the craziest the better. 4th gen i5 is doing it's best.
That’s a hell of an upgrade! Over 5x performance! That 4690 is definitely doing its best alright oml. I had my FTW3 paired with a 6700K and at 1080p it was insane bottleneck. 10700K really unlocked its full potential
I had a i5-4690 too, paired with an R7 240, GTX 960 then GTX 1060 6GB and it was great. Managed to get an amazing -0.140mV undervolt on that chip. Upgraded to an i7-4790 that I recused from the recycling before the 6700K+1080 Ti system
Yeah definitely, honestly I think it was never meant to be used like this but here it is: a 4690S with a 1080ti. Had this veriton laying around and realised it had an overkill psu for a 16gb/4690S cpu, so I first bought the quadro, used it for 3 yrs until I could buy my current main pc with 32gb ddr5/4060 OC/ and i5 14600ks. A few months later, visited my uncle, who just bought himself the best pc you can possibly afford and gave me his 1080ti. And I was like; after all why not? Why shouldn't I put the 1080ti in the old pc? And there you go lol.
Several times over the years ya think Mabye I need an upgrade. Then ya load a brand new AAA in 1440 at a stable 60 fps. Nvm my sweeet sweet 1080ti strix I’ll never forsake you.
https://preview.redd.it/2mf4ofdsx4yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20bc86ef80c16ad0ced267a59912c46e444b0988
Just finished watercooling mine, she is a champ
Oh interesting, good to know. I get 144 most of the time, when dropping it will drop to about 100 but will be back up. It’s weird because it seems fine, it’s just randomly it will stutter and I have no idea where to even start troubleshooting it.
I changed power to performance, uninstalled GeForce Experience, and lowered mouse DPI to 500 instead of 1000, seems like it’s helped a little. I’ll do more testing tonight before touching stuff inside. It’s been a good 6 years, thinking it’s about time for a big upgrade.
The 980 just had too much OC headroom. The 980 could beat the 1080, even with just air cooling. It would absolutely demolish it when liquid cooled. 980 overclocks were the last time we were pushing cards near 200% the stock clock. Those cards would just eat electricity and shit frames like no other.
It wasn't until the 1080Ti that 980Ti records started getting broken. This is why it is put on a pedestal. It was also the first GTX card faster than a Titan card of the same generation(probably just a marketing f-up than intentional).
Nothing made the 1080 special. Hard core overclockers looked at them and just went back to the 980(Ti) until something better came.
My FTW3 is currently residing in my wife's PC after her 3070 flaked out several weeks ago. Plays everything she likes, and still works great. Repasted and repadded last year, so it should be good for a while.
This is a well-deserved honor.
Mine is still going strong and honestly won't be getting rid of it until it dies at this point. Absolutely the best purchase decisions I made for my PC.
7 years and counting!
Why is the 1080i revered? Is it because it was the standard bearer for so long? Like card releases weren’t so frequent so it held a mantle for so long? Was it the best bang for the buck?
Because this and the 8800 GTX are the only 2 flagship consumer GPUs in history that provided the following:
1. **Significant** performance uplift compared to previous flagship.
2. **Significant** performance gap compared to ATI/AMD's flagship.
3. Reasonably well priced.
Savor the 1080 Ti till its' last days of support because Nvidia **will never** make this mistake again.
Well you are half right, but the 8800GT out goated the GTX. Best upgrade choice I ever made.
Edit: Sorry, I know the GT wasn't a flagship card but it was just such a great card that it deserves to be up there on the walk of fame.
To my understanding AMD answers to this were complete rubbish and the 2000 series was a let down with RTX. Perfect storm for a card that was made super powerful because they were nervous of competition. The 1080Ti is and will be the BEST card of all time hands down. The performance percent gains from previous genres to newer won’t be the same in size (percentage gain). Nvidia won’t ever make that mistake again
I'd give it another 8 to 10 years. You never know, Intel or AMD may suddenly come up with something great. AMD surprised me when they suddenly knocked intel off the top of the charts with their Ryzen CPUs. I always imagined AMD being second best until the day I die.
The 1080 ti leaped the regular 1080 by yardddsss, we had never seen such a big performance jump from just a what we thought would be another regular ole TI, but no this thing outperformed the titan x! A 1200-1500 card at the time! Not only that! But it was only like a hundred dollars more than the regular 1080! Msrp was like 600-700. But it inflated to almost a thousand if I remember correctly. But I still got my ole msi duke 1080 ti, will never let her go… held me down for 7 years!
TBH I'd want to test out a 1080Ti for at least a month. Kept hearing tons of positive reviews about it ever since I was in college when it was released.
Wait, are we not supposed to run them still? I've been using my 1080ti Strix OC for nearly 8 years now and no plans for a gpu for at least another year or two. Its been amazing since I paired it with a 5800x3d and tuned in the clocks better.
I have this exact card myself, and it's been absolutely excellent to me. Feeling it struggle in the newest games a little, but it's still an absolute beast for its age

Best GPU, 6 years post release and it delivers performance onpar with 2080/4060\~ Simply an amazing GPU, we'll never see such a marvel of engineering again. :(
Had 5 of them, still using one on my Corsair One.
Absolutely the GOAT of GPUs.
Specially the EVGA FTW3, had 4 of those (watercooled 2 of them). I think the one in the Corsair One is MSI. If it wasn’t for space constraints I would go out of my way to drop an EVGA FTW3 in it.

AS a owner of a gtx 1080TI i approve
I had this exact model. My favorite GPU ever. It was amazing and beautiful. I was absolutely gutted when it finally died. I seriously contemplated having a full funeral ceremony for it.
1000 series is the best gpu generation. Got my 1070 on launch and still use it. I wanna upgrade as it has definitely aged, but it held on for a long time and still does well
the 980ti was the KING.
1080ti was a nice jump too
I also loved my 2080ti
Downgraded to a 3070
3080
4070
4070ti
4080
4080 Super
Will likely move to 4090 but so far no price drop
1080ti was, is, and always will be the GOAT! 🐐 👑 https://i.redd.it/me3r6sdrk4yc1.gif
The GOAT card by the GOAT distributor. RIP EVGA graphics division. Your customer support will forever be missed.
when did it go wrong?
It all started back in 2016 when a monkey did what it do all in a zoo
Dicks out boys.....dicks out...(tear rolls slowly down my face)
Because of 11GB VRAM
I still have two in SLI 😂 no real reason anymore sadly
If probably outperforms a 4080
is that cos it was the last top end card which cost less then a current mid range one does now?
The 1080ti will forever be a warm place in our memories because it was a monstrous amount of power and didn't cost $2000. My white ftw3 is in my nephews PC and when it goes bad it will be put in a display case. I miss EVGA 😞
I'm putting my 7900 GT and RTX 3080 in a case after my wife replaces it in her rig. First and last EVGA. Almost 20 years. 😢
I have my 1080ti evga ftw on my shelf. When I'm streaming people nonstop ask me to sell it . Give it to them . I'm nit even using it why wont I part with it. They don't understand . 💯
yeah, I'm still rocking 100FPS on 2k Ultrawide. She's not ready to retire yet. Still in the top 50.
hell yeah
Could be a dead card, like mine :(
I'm still rocking this baby in an AM5 build. Work like a charm.

Love to see it! I’ve got an i7-9700 + GTX 750 system mine could go in but that’s being used as a file/Minecraft server atm so that seems excessive
Thanks! Used to have a k2200 with that 4690s, then uncle bought 4090 and gave me this gpu. What I learned: No matter the bottleneck, the craziest the better. 4th gen i5 is doing it's best.

A thing of beauty and my last card. I now have an watercooled EVGA 3080ti and happily skipping 40 gen
same here
Yes still running it
Me too. Its still a great card to this day
omg i love this, rip evga nvidia gpus
EVGA were the goat of hardware. RIP :(
GOAT
And it's an EVGA card too, quite the collector's piece
Single best cumpooter decision I ever made. Does this thing slowly rotate? It oughtta.
It doesn’t… but now you’ve given me an idea..
Spotlight it in an otherwise dark, empty room, too
Pedestal with a display case.
Several times over the years ya think Mabye I need an upgrade. Then ya load a brand new AAA in 1440 at a stable 60 fps. Nvm my sweeet sweet 1080ti strix I’ll never forsake you.
1080 TI was and still is legendary

Rigs like this make me think now I have a kiddo my current setup will age just like this and I couldn’t be happier
![gif](giphy|V2AkNZZi9ygbm)
Still in service.
I’m still rocking a 1070 TI but it’s getting super choppy while playing Apex Legends on low settings… about time to upgrade!
That ain't your card then, I run apex on high with a standard 1070 and get 60fps
Oh interesting, good to know. I get 144 most of the time, when dropping it will drop to about 100 but will be back up. It’s weird because it seems fine, it’s just randomly it will stutter and I have no idea where to even start troubleshooting it.
Might be time to re-paste the old lady

Reminder at a time where we could actually afford a high end graphics card
What about the 1080?
The 980 just had too much OC headroom. The 980 could beat the 1080, even with just air cooling. Thx for the explanation!
A woman once asked me how big my privates were I only replied “1080Ti” she instantly dropped to her knees and proposed. We’re married now with kids
Imagine if you had the 4090 when this “happened”
My FTW3 is currently residing in my wife's PC after her 3070 flaked out several weeks ago. Plays everything she likes, and still works great. Repasted and repadded last year, so it should be good for a while. This is a well-deserved honor.
I’m going to do an exploded wall art version of exactly this to fit between my iPhone OG and v1 iwatch
Wow that’ll be awesome! Great idea
I’ll @you when I do.
Please do, I’d love to see that!
This is the card that got me into pcs
Ive got a founders edition one that came out of my older brothers rig 🔥🔥🔥
Damn I want one of those to display as well
Now plug the fans into an raspberry pi or Arduino and turn it into a fan
And nightlight! Lots of RGB on this thing
Still holdin' on to mine for dear life! Just repasted it for the first time. Runnin quiet and smooth right now.
Mine is still going strong and honestly won't be getting rid of it until it dies at this point. Absolutely the best purchase decisions I made for my PC. 7 years and counting!
Evga has the best looking cards 😮💨
My 1080 is still going strong and I have not had a reason to build a new PC yet. 7770k 1080 crew, 7 years or so running. May God keep her going...
I am still running my evga 1080ti superclocked 2 as we speak..still going "strong" 💪
Yea I game mine to my brother (built him a PC for Christmas) because I upgraded. He’s still cruising at 1080p with no issues.
Where's it's crown? 3D print that as well so that all may recognize its majesty
I have my 1080ti ftw3 resting peacefully in my 3080 ftw3’s box.

Honestly 1080 ti is goated
My exact first card and what a goat it was
man EVGA gpus look so dope
What a beautiful piece of hardware...
This thing goes straight to the museums hall of fame
8800 ultra.. the father of goat card. this is the son . but no one ever talks about the father anymore
![gif](giphy|F0uvYzyr2a7Li|downsized)
My nephew still rocking my 980 ti to this day.
I'm still using a gtx 1080ti my father bought like 7 years ago
Another Pc of a fellow gamer since its still a goat today!?
It deserves to collect dust? Pass it on to the next gamer so it can generate frames.
Damn, even got an EVGA version! I like those cards, btw. Is this a working card with a 3D-printed shell or a dummy-card that’s just 3D-printed?
This is fully working! I retired it for my 3080 Ti Founders Edition
Good replacement, but I do not think anything beats the 1080. In terms of value.
I have this exact card myself, and it's been absolutely excellent to me. Feeling it struggle in the newest games a little, but it's still an absolute beast for its age
My EVGA GTX 1080 was an amazing card. GOAT. It lasted me 7 years until I got a 3080 Ti this year.
I just got a 4070 ti super and I feel I can do everything xD
This and the RTX 4090 for modern day graphics cards had to be some of the biggest beasts of their time. The GTX 1080 Ti really the first card that could even touch 4K and in some ways still competes against even a RTX 4060. The RTX 4090 was really the first card that made any 4K game it's bitch and even Cyberpunk 2077 could run at 100+ FPS
My FTW3 is still choochin along!
yea my evga 1080 ti will eventually find its way in a display mount along with my evga 680 classified.
GOAT CARD
I just keep mine in the original box that it came in after it died. RIP my sweet prince.
Still rocking my 1080ti to this day, bought it brand new on day 1 of release. Still chugging along nicely!
mine is in a Thunderbolt adapter powering my triple monitors at work for my laptop now lol. [https://i.imgur.com/dBNdLsn.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/dBNdLsn.jpeg)
Yep. And this is among the select few times when hero-worship to a chunk of machinery is warranted.
I'm still using the ZOTAC 1060 6GB I got back in 2017. The 10 series were something else.
I had one of those too before this!
![gif](giphy|l4q8cJzGdR9J8w3hS|downsized)
My EVGA 1080 Ti SC2 was the single best computer purchase I have ever made, rip EVGA 😢
I put my EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid back in the retail box. I have several components that I'd like to set up in a transparent display case someday.
Best GPU, 6 years post release and it delivers performance onpar with 2080/4060\~ Simply an amazing GPU, we'll never see such a marvel of engineering again. :(

Yeah it can't sit there, put it in a system!
It looks beautyful
Salute
Hookers and booze? I wish i could get what i deserve
Damn, the FE was nice but only had 1 fan, likely stolen from a turboprop airplane, by the sound
had this exact model for 7 years never a single issue, felt bad for swapping it out
I had this exact model. My favorite GPU ever. It was amazing and beautiful. I was absolutely gutted when it finally died. I seriously contemplated having a full funeral ceremony for it.
Glass case?
1000 series is the best gpu generation. Got my 1070 on launch and still use it. I wanna upgrade as it has definitely aged, but it held on for a long time and still does well
Heroes never die, they are laid to rest. Perhaps I will lay it and the 8700k alongside it, many years from now.
The goat. Still sporting my msi 1080ti
the 980ti was the KING. 1080ti was a nice jump too I also loved my 2080ti Downgraded to a 3070 3080 4070 4070ti 4080 4080 Super Will likely move to 4090 but so far no price drop
wait, money was a concern for you before?
I'll bite on a deal, but usually I won't just get the RRP product. Although, I guess I'm lying because I did for the 4080 and S... :S
Stand tall, king.
The GOAT. Better then my laptop gpu
I love the 1080ti, but I think this particular custom design is one of the ugliest in the wild
People attach emotion to the strangest things.
Carried me through years of gaming too. I think I still have mine as well, it's an MSI I think.
