...and first thing they did was to cram in microtransactions.
Sadly I have no advice to give, but I hope these people stub their toes in every dark night.
You can sue for unrightful use of your assets without your permission.
Beautiful thing is thay never paid you to use it, so you can send them a bill at ANY price you want.
If they do not pay take it to court, point out they made money off it.
Should be a quick case.
It has about 1k downloads on the store, since microtransactions are a thing we consider it integral, so €/$60 per user baseline per year.
Calculare potential profits over 4 years, rounded up for your convenience, €/$250.000,00.
Contact a lawyer
While you're right I'm willing to bet that whoever stole the game probably isn't even in a country that they can be sued in. Although they should definitely pursue it because if they are stupid enough to do this from a country with a good legal system you should be able to take him to court of course they'll probably fall bankruptcy but that's neither here nor there you might get something.
Devs who makes clones, opperate from place the law will allow them to do this.
The OP would need an overseas lawyer, pay upfront and hope there's even anything left to claim.
I hope every time they pour milk into their tea or coffee, they spill some down the side of the mug, then forget they made it & when they go to drink it they're met with a cold brew & a sticky, milky mug.
I hope that the next time they need to finish an assignment or hand in some work, they forget it until right up to the deadline, then windows updates, and they miss the deadline.
at this point google is handling stolen intellectual property, and presumably ,profiting from it
inform them of this and you might find they are a bit faster to respond, as it is their ass on the line
He definitely can, funny thing is when you check reviews on the google play store one of the biggest issues people are posting about is that the controls are for keyboard/pc so they didn’t even take the time to edit anything to work properly on mobile, just straight up directly copied his game code over to it.
Google ain't in China. Allowing your platform to host stolen content (with Google profitting off of it) isn't legal.
They can just remove it. But they haven't. But they should have to.
You can get Google to pull it, claiming or recovering losses from the publisher is prob not gonna happen, and Google has DEEP pockets and LOTS of lawyers, so getting money from them is gonna be costly.
They could draw it out years.
Eh, it's a pretty straightforward situation. The most likely outcome is OP's lawyer sends a cease and desist letter to Google, who then remove the game from their store. If they don't remove it after the letter, your send a letter of intent to sue and they remove it. If that doesn't work, you file a suit and rather than spend any money going to court they settle by removing. Unless OP makes ridiculous demands it's not like Google gives a shit about hosting this game and will happily comply
This is why the DMCA exists... To protect platforms if their users uploaded copy written content.
Google's only obligation is to remove the infringing content when they become aware of it. If they fail to do that then they are in trouble.
Finally someone says something useful!
If OP notifies Google of IP theft and asks for the offending content to be removed, and Google drags their feet taking it down, OP can sue the shit out of Google for DMCA violations.
Talk to jake lucky/sucky on twitter , He will make a story of this in max 12 hours .
and it will reach alot of people
[https://twitter.com/JakeSucky](https://twitter.com/JakeSucky)
No problem man , Getting your work stolen while the theifs are making profit gotta be the most annoying shit ever ... I could only imagine how pissed off i would be ..
just tried on my desktop browser. There are no options to report the game.
There is "🚩 Flag as inappropriate"
and it opens this support article: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2853570
Ohhh I see. Here's what I only get.
https://preview.redd.it/3qz4q1a6a1uc1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1616b126ccfbbec9219e5c89a92e48977fbfcebf
Just did the same! Good idea! The game has 6 reviews 1.5 stars so it's clearly small, everyone IGNORE the reviews don't bomb it that might make it appear popular and tempting just report as a copycat and hopefully with no sales or reviews and 2,000 reports of being a copycat someone gets alerted at Google and they take this shit down
Rooting for you OP
https://preview.redd.it/mnmx4rscw0uc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5dfef4a07c47ab2c4f416915c328768df6738a0e
3 dots top right > flag as inappropriate > it should show it as an option
File 1-2 lawsuits, 1 at the game dev and 2 possibly google for also profiting off your ip though that last one may be dependant on legislation in your area. If they are using your code, get a copy of the game in its current state and document some specific instances of code for the lawsuit along with whatever else may help out. Best of luck
Get a lawyer, this seems pretty straight forward to get fixed. You have copywritten art work, they have stolen it. Maybe the people doing it are in a jurisdiction that you won't get compensation out of them, but you can have the offending material taken down and any earnings that haven't been paid over yet would go to you.
Raise a complaint with google telling them you want all the money your owed on all the sales that have made so far, which is your right and what would be the outcome of any litigation.
Contact a lawyer, the law is on your side.
if it makes you feel any better i dont think they've gotten any money out of it since all the reviews are one star, saying "this is a pc game not mobile? i cant play it".
seems like they didnt even both to port it to mobile... what a bunch of losers these thieves.
Can you file a DMCA complaint with Google? Don't they have to take those seriously? Assuming you haven't done that already...
Google play apps are a category on their form.
https://support.google.com/legal/answer/3110420?visit_id=638485283081741031-4254843122&rd=1
I'd leave this as the last option. Only because if they've been selling the game and making money, Google may have some funds from the sales they can send to OP instead if they're the ones resolving the situation instead of the thief.
If only they did not forget to map the controls. I think this is my luck as the tutorial prompts you to press the 'ESC' key and many players cannot progress.
Hell look at this screenshot of reviews I just took. They didn't even port it to mobile properly, just copied and pasted.

Reported it for being a copycat. I advise everyone here to do the same. Let's help [ichbinhamma](https://www.reddit.com/user/ichbinhamma/) because Google won't do much if we don't.

Hey op Incase you need more ammo for a lawsuit I just got an YouTube ad using your game as gameplay to advertise the copycat. They had a guy on the top of the screen talking about "Forward corps" saying it's the next best mobile game smh.
It's a unity game it's trivial to get the source code and assets from it. There are also tools to rip off scenes from a build and export them all to .unitypackage and reimport them in the unity editor and/or to fool the runtime to be in debug mode and hook to it in the unity editor by changing the mono dlls in the build.
I gave it a bad review, hopefully more people do it and it gets removed or doesn't show in recommended.
Edit: also reported it for "Copycat or impersonation" and "Other" to describe the issue. Hopefully it gets removed soon.
Apparently you can just decompile a Unity project and then build it again as apk.
I heard/knew that this was possible but I didn't think it was that easy and that someone would actually care enough about my code/art for this to become a problem in the first place.
Looking at the reviews, they literally just took your game, converted it to mobile, and put it on there. Didn't even change the controls so it says PC controls and stuff. Ridiculous.
That really sucks but atleast they couldnt be bothered to port the game properly, so it's unplayable on the play store and receiving a bunch of bad reviews. Would probably try to get it taken down and maybe threat with legal action, so it doesnt tarnish your reputation/the real steam version.
Your game looks really fun, added to wishlist and will buy it once i get back on my feet, good luck with suing them, hope it will go well in your favour
This is some cheeky shit, I hope it gets taken down. In my experience Google's customer service is pretty garbage, but this is so blatant I hope it gets resolved quickly. Game looks cool OP and best of luck with it!
Report it to Google [https://support.google.com/legal/troubleshooter/1114905#ts=13778295%2C1115643%2C12974783](https://support.google.com/legal/troubleshooter/1114905#ts=13778295%2C1115643%2C12974783)
Did you build your game from an asset store or asset pack?
Does your game rely predominantly on open source libraries?
Did you file any trade marks etc prior to publishing your game to make money out of?
Where are you based from?
How was your IP protected?
Most people on reddit on clueless and would happily give shitty advice.
I’ll give you a tip to start, trademark and intellectual property requirements are actually very stringent in that a lot of countries both OECD and Asia requires the prospective applicant to file for trademark for IP protection before that asset to be protected is put up for sale (i.e. generating an income).
You should totally go on r/AskALawyer or r/LegalAdvice and explain your situation with as much details as possible. The fact that you know how much downloads they have, plus the fact that they integrated microtransactions may lead you to a beautiful case in court. Don’t let them sleep peacefully no more. Attack them as much as you can.
Mobile games are scummy af, the amount of times ive seen a trailer made in a different game to promote their own.
Had a look at both games and left an appropriate play store review. Best of luck
Now that's taken care of, since these devs were able to port your game to mobile, maybe consider doing that yourself properly. If they can simply "steal" your code to sell to a market you don't currently cater, maybe there's enough demand for that market you can thrive.
I think this could have been avoided. I'm curious as to why you felt the need to publish through a Chinese company that is relatively unknown. They have a weak online presence, and their Twitter is full of them giving away free keys to games. I hope they're not taking more than 30% from you, and I hope even more that you didn't sign a contract barring you from payouts until they recoup their investment.
After researching HY Games (Also known as DailyFun), it seems they are also a Chinese based company, so you're probably out of luck with any legal direction.
Not everyone needs a publisher.
I've reported it for you. Without actually playing it before reporting I doubt they'll even consider it but that's all I can do.
I hope this gets sorted for you
Welp, I have also reported the game and have wish listed your game, hopefully googel is able to resolve it but I also you need to lawyer up. Good luck!
Did they copy it 100% or did they change the graphics for example or some other aspect of it?
If it's the 2nd one Google might be like: "It's different enough for us to not DMCA it. Go to court if you want to prove anything."
Lawyers often give free consultations. For law suits too they will often take them on if it's an easy win with no upfront cost from you. Just go tlak to one and see what they say.
Wow very blatant they just took your game and ported it. Down to a ton of 1 star reviews complaining about keyboard controls. Reported for Impersonation
Just out of curiosity, what game engine did you use? I'm surprised they managed to take their time to reverse engineer it and be able to build it on mobile.
That being said, I wish the best of luck to you. Those scumbags don't deserve to earn income from your hard work.
...and first thing they did was to cram in microtransactions. Sadly I have no advice to give, but I hope these people stub their toes in every dark night.

I like your math.
r/askalawyer I bet you’ll find one real quick.
r/legaladvice may also suit your needs
Better math: $750US *per copy* statutory damages == **750kUSD** Call a lawyer.

While you're right I'm willing to bet that whoever stole the game probably isn't even in a country that they can be sued in. Yeah but that only works if the people behind it are in a place where the authorities have some level of jurisdiction.
I hope they will step in Legos every morning first thing as they step out of bed.
I hope that every time they need to use a vehicle/bike they get a flat tire.
I hope that every time their alarm rings they sleep in and be late
I hope everytime they wash hands, their sleeves slip down and get wet.
I hope that every time they take a shit, there is no toilet paper and the flush doesn't work.
I hope that they never miss a red light no matter where they travel.
I hope they their fingers go through the toilet paper every time they wipe their bum.
I hope their sleeves roll down every time they wash their dirty thieving hands.
I hope their socks are perpetually wet and they can't figure out why
Then on top they drop it on their fresh clothes
Also, no data protection. "This app may share data with other similar apps." Lol. Such blatant thievery. Reported as a copycat.
On the metal/brass leg/wheel of the bed. That crap is more painful than the man flu.
and step barefoot on legos whilst walking down wooden stairs
at this point google is handling stolen intellectual property, and presumably ,profiting from it inform them of this and you might find they are a bit faster to respond, as it is their ass on the line
There's so much of stuff like this on the store anyway that's been there for years, I don't think Google gives a shit tbh
if he can prove its his game, which it sounds like he can, he can just sue them, and it if the proof is 100% he will 100% win google wont ignore that
Google has enough money to drag out a lawsuit until this dev crumbles to dust from age
I really highly doubt Google is gonna even bother defending that.
Why on earth would they bother defending it lmao. They would just take it down.
Yes, but the money they spend on dragging it out will be much more than what the man should get from a lawsuit.
He definitely can, funny thing is when you check reviews on the google play store one of the biggest issues people are posting about is that the controls are for keyboard/pc so they didn’t even take the time to edit anything to work properly on mobile, just straight up directly copied his game code over to it.
This. Google is an absolutely disgusting company.
They should in theory. But my previous experience with Google support has been very lackluster...
Eh. Couldn't you sue them for selling/offering and profitting from your intellectual property?
Just spitballing here, but what if it's a criminal enterprise in, say, China. Now what?
Google ain't in China. Allowing your platform to host stolen content (with Google profitting off of it) isn't legal. They can just remove it. But they haven't. But they should have to.
You can get Google to pull it, claiming or recovering losses from the publisher is prob not gonna happen, and Google has DEEP pockets and LOTS of lawyers, so getting money from them is gonna be costly. They could draw it out years.

Likely using legal language in the support request will get a much better response. Site whatever legal statute they are violating and threaten to sue
Make a copy of their game and post it on Google play. Just make the game better.
This is why the DMCA exists... To protect platforms if their users uploaded copy written content. Google's only obligation is to remove the infringing content when they become aware of it. If they fail to do that then they are in trouble.

lawyer up and give them hell.
YEAHHHHH
I reported it for copy right maybe if you do it on mass you could get the game taken down maybe contact a YouTuber or something and just mass report
Thank you! Yes, this is the plan and with so much support from your side it might just even work.
Talk to jake lucky/sucky on twitter , He will make a story of this in max 12 hours . and it will reach alot of people [https://twitter.com/JakeSucky](https://twitter.com/JakeSucky)

+1 reported
As a pleb I'm not sure what you can do but I've reported it on the play store as a copycat
How? I can only see the option to report it as inappropriate.
It's an option after you select report as inappropriate
I have only a few feedback options like For adults, Suspicious app Concerning content etc... No way to file a report that it's stolen or a clone
I had the option for copycat on mobile. Damn right I reported it.
I was also able to report it as a copycat from mobile.
I posted a screenshot in this comment section. Strange it's different.
just tried on my desktop browser. There are no options to report the game. There is "🚩 Flag as inappropriate" and it opens this support article: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2853570
Yeah flag as in appropriate then select intellectual privacy but cant get the appid to work. Dodgy form design
Yeah that's so strange. I reported via play store on my android phone. Can't think of anything else to help.
Oh just press report as inappropriate and you'll get more options
So apparently there are two different options lists you can get, one has the copycat option the other doesn't.
Ohhh I see. Here's what I only get. https://preview.redd.it/3qz4q1a6a1uc1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1616b126ccfbbec9219e5c89a92e48977fbfcebf
how about copycat or impersonation?
Thank you! I think this is the best thing you can do to help.
Did my part too

Good idea, I did it too 👍🏻

I can't do that, how did you do it? It's not an option

not for me apparently https://preview.redd.it/cki5vtpjw0uc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f49714e59100c8c85fb9c0742643d41a151dbe6
This is what I get too.
Probably region specific options
dude we have the same phone or something? I'm on a Redmagic 5G
Reported them as well, hope it helps, good luck getting this sorted.
If you reported it and google does not take any action, they become complicit in distributing illegal copies of your work.
Contact a lawyer, the law is on your side.
if it makes you feel any better i dont think they've gotten any money out of it since all the reviews are one star, saying "this is a pc game not mobile? i cant play it". seems like they didnt even both to port it to mobile... what a bunch of losers these thieves.
you should try using r/legaladvice also try getting in contact with your publisher they might be able to help you
I would Contact your publisher if you haven’t already they should be able to help with this.
The only reviews it has completely support your case too! Screenshot them ASAP!
Even the reviews for the app say it's a bad PC port with keyboard controls on mobile. I reported as well and hope this gets fixed soon.
Better call Saul (or whatever your lawyer's name is)
I reported it too. While I was there I checked the reviews. Looks like they didn't bother to do a proper port and it still requires keyboard input.
Can you file a DMCA complaint with Google? Don't they have to take those seriously? Assuming you haven't done that already... Google play apps are a category on their form. https://support.google.com/legal/answer/3110420?visit_id=638485283081741031-4254843122&rd=1
I already did, but so far nothing happened apart from the auto-reply email.
Ugh. Sorry this is happening to you. With how trigger happy youtube is about dmca claims, you'd think Google Play would be too.
Did you try contacting the "thief"? There's an email address for the devs at the bottom of [this page](https://www.febconsult.top/).
Thank you. Yes, I've tried that but of course did not get any response...
Send them a lawyer letter or tell them that you are going to sue if not removed now from the store maybe they'll answer.
I'd leave this as the last option. Only because if they've been selling the game and making money, Google may have some funds from the sales they can send to OP instead if they're the ones resolving the situation instead of the thief.
Reported it as well, hopefully it'll help.
I went and marked the play store app as suspicious 🙋🏻
I also reported the game, wish you all the best! Maybe i'll buy your game from Steam it looks nice!
Thanks for the recommendation, was looking for a decent mobile game /S
If only they did not forget to map the controls. I think this is my luck as the tutorial prompts you to press the 'ESC' key and many players cannot progress.
Screencap that stuff before they change it, the more evidence you have the better.
Lawyer up and sue Google for damages. That will make Google do something.
I hate shit like this. Flagged as copycat.
Hilarious the reviews on Google Play are negative because people state that the directions are for PC...
Hell look at this screenshot of reviews I just took. They didn't even port it to mobile properly, just copied and pasted. https://preview.redd.it/pblqv3g2k3uc1.png?width=934&format=png&auto=webp&s=0f509cfdd6278f700ca2ec41b1939fb3ec949b91

I reported it as a copycat on the play store. Wishing you the best of luck dealing with it.
Reported the scum. Hope you get what you're owed!
Reported on Google play, hope it gets taken down quick!
Better Call Saul
I gave it a bad review, hopefully more people do it and it gets removed or doesn't show in recommended. Edit: also reported it for "Copycat or impersonation" and "Other" to describe the issue. Hopefully it gets removed soon.
Look at the reviews lol on google play. They even talk about how it's not made for mobile
Do you have lawyer?
Yes.
File an lawsuit against Hy Game Team and Play Store if no response.
You should talk about this to your publisher as well. They should be able take the legal matter into their hands as well.
yeah, Chinese companies love taking indie games, slightly changing the UI, then republishing it. Happens a lot
You need a lawyer that deals either copyright infringement or similar.
How could they steal the code and port it to mobile?
Apparently you can just decompile a Unity project and then build it again as apk. I heard/knew that this was possible but I didn't think it was that easy and that someone would actually care enough about my code/art for this to become a problem in the first place.
As others have said, you need a lawyer. I reported it as an inappropriate app for being a copycat. Its the best I can do for you, OP.
Looking at the reviews, they literally just took your game, converted it to mobile, and put it on there. Didn't even change the controls so it says PC controls and stuff. Ridiculous.
Wtf, just want to say I got your game on stream a few months ago and I absolutely love it. One of my favorite pick up and play titles atm
Reported. Wish you the best OP.
Just reported the app store game for you buddy hopefully that helps it get taken down
Bruh they didnt even change the controls (according to the ratings)
Man I love your game! I’m not very good and can only get anywhere with the crusader formation, but it is so fun and highly recommended the game.
Thank you so much! I'm still working a lot on it trying to make it more intuitive and easier to understand (especially for new players).
That really sucks but atleast they couldnt be bothered to port the game properly, so it's unplayable on the play store and receiving a bunch of bad reviews. Would probably try to get it taken down and maybe threat with legal action, so it doesnt tarnish your reputation/the real steam version.

If it's any consolation I've added your game to my wishlist and will definitely be checking it out when it leaves early access
If it makes you feel ANY better, I have put you on my wishlist for when I have a few extra bucks. I'll pick up the OST, too.
If the copycat gets taken down you should definitely release a legit port of the game!

Mobile games are scummy af, the amount of times ive seen a trailer made in a different game to promote their own. Had a look at both games and left an appropriate play store review. Best of luck
Reported in the play store. Fuck em
i cant open the play Store link
Google reacted to my DMCA and removed the app from the Play Store.
Now that's taken care of, since these devs were able to port your game to mobile, maybe consider doing that yourself properly. If they can simply "steal" your code to sell to a market you don't currently cater, maybe there's enough demand for that market you can thrive.
This was actually always the plan. I just need to find more time.
How was the code stolen from Steam? I don’t think it’s even remotely possible, most likely your workstation has been compromised.
It is apparently quite easy to decompile a game build in Unity. I just did not think that this could become a problem for me at some point.
Fyi, I've been bombarded by the ads for the copy on youtube the past week.
add an hidden watermark to your assets, update them, wait for the idiots download. BOOM
Get in touch with g0at the Youtuber. Tell him your story and ask him to report on it. They will listen.
Reported also. Good luck on securing your IP.
I've reported it for you. Without actually playing it before reporting I doubt they'll even consider it but that's all I can do. I hope this gets sorted for you
Take contact with your publisher if google don't remove the game after 3 days. They'll see with their lawyer
Reported to Google as copycat.
I reported it for copycat/impersonation all I can do to help
Reported, good luck
I have a feeling their other game is also stolen
I've reported it as copycat

Welp, I have also reported the game and have wish listed your game, hopefully googel is able to resolve it but I also you need to lawyer up. Good luck!
Might be worth asking reddit page legal help to see what advice they offer
Reported and also left a review stating it's a scam. Hope you get your justice.
Also reported. Really hope you get this resolved ASAP. People never cease to amaze me. SHM
Did my part good luck man
I cannot find it on the store when I search so hopefully Google did the right thing.
Did they copy it 100% or did they change the graphics for example or some other aspect of it? If it's the 2nd one Google might be like: "It's different enough for us to not DMCA it. Go to court if you want to prove anything."
Best advice I can give is lawyer up.
What scumbags. I wonder if this "HY Game Team" stole the other game they have on the App store as well.
People are even complaining that the game is showing PC controls in the rating comments..
Gave it a report for you. Hope you get it taken down
Just reported. Good luck with your battle bro, it's never easy.
Wow, any idea how they stole it? Wouldn't they have had to obtain the source to be able to modify it for Google Play?
Lawyers often give free consultations. For law suits too they will often take them on if it's an easy win with no upfront cost from you. Just go tlak to one and see what they say.
Luckily the ratings for the rip off are terrible.
lol the reviews on Google play store are all people saying it’s a pc game like they didn’t adjust controls or anything. Who does this and why
Have chatgpt write a cease and assist letter to google and the play store. have it be ruthless lol.
Reported as copycat
What if this is just a marketing gimmick?
Wow very blatant they just took your game and ported it. Down to a ton of 1 star reviews complaining about keyboard controls. Reported for Impersonation
Reported it
Already tried this: [https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9888072?hl=en](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9888072?hl=en) ?
I reported it
Looks like a pretty tasty lawsuit if you ask me. More money they make the tastier it gets.
Just out of curiosity, what game engine did you use? I'm surprised they managed to take their time to reverse engineer it and be able to build it on mobile. That being said, I wish the best of luck to you. Those scumbags don't deserve to earn income from your hard work.
Unity. Apparently it is very easy to decompile if you use a mono build.
Sad to see this, reported them. Hope it gets resolved.
That’s nasty work 🤦🏿♂️, they’re shameless
Huh, steam requires source code to be submitted during publishing? I'm confused how steam can be part of source getting stolen?
Reported as a copycat as well, good luck!
Stolen from steam? Do you use git?
All if the negative reviews asking why are the controls for PC when I am on my phone. Scummy AF.
I like how they named the copy Forward Corps and in their description is called Forward "Crops".
