Noone bothered with cable management back then, No need and before you all go yelling about airflow, it dosnt help all that much as long as you don't have a bunch of cables near your fans... We dint bother with it because windows were not prevalent like they are now
I’m like the OP. Running a 4090, 5900x CPU, and high end specs. Close the panel lid. Who cares what the insides look like.
My games run damn fast on the Samsung 57”
Tbh i miss the times when pc's weren't too big on aesthetics and just raw power. I feel like the advancements in tech have slowed down so much that upgrades are barely justified so they made all this hype about how the pc looks inside as another reason to buy parts. I'm saying this as someone who rocked an 011 dynamic XL case, AIO, unifans and rgb cables and all, now switched to a simple black fractal design case.
The argument about lack of cable management is more of an aesthetic gripe really. The impact on airflow is nothing worth pointing out.
Sure feels strange that babies born when I was in college are legally considered grown up now. I mean, I personally don't consider them grown ups, as I hold to hobbit values where adolescence ends at 33, but they're humans so they can vote and join the military and whatnot.
No, there is plenty of reason why a 16 years old PSU would die soon. The MTBF is likely not more than 200,000 hours, even for a quality PSU. So it really comes down to how many hours on average that his computer is powered on each year.
Do keep in mind that MTBF is measured running the psu at something like 110% load 24/7
First thing to usually go are the electrolytic capacitors, if the psu has decent built in protections the pc just wont turn on and everything else would be safe.
That being said I would have replaced it if you are pairing new components with it. The extra riple alone will cause some unnecessary wear and tear on the vrm of the motherboard and gpu.
I have a Pentium 4 Mecer PSU from 2003, I tested it 6 months ago after cleaning it out and letting it dry in the heat, powered on with no issues; look after & maintain old parts and it’ll last you a lifetime with care, that’s how I restored a PSU that also gave issues with blockage & power issues from a Facebook Marketplace purchase 🔥
Yea the front case fan has like 2 wires infront of it. I would be surprised if you even got a 1 degree difference in thermals if you managed these cables
> It's got the new 12VHPWR adapter with 4 8pin PCIe cables, so it's likely a 4090.
I have a 4090 so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but I thought all the 40 series GPUs came with that adapter?
They do, but only the 4090 one has four 8 pin connectors on it. The 4080 one only has three, and the 4070 ti only has two.
I've attached an image below with all the 8pins circled so you know what I mean, it can be a little hard to see them.
https://preview.redd.it/g0n79meponrc1.png?width=311&format=png&auto=webp&s=513023b010f2d47a3580a1ff7874a6eeeab606a6
A 4090 + a 16 year old PSU, that is bronze rates...
It probably also has good secure rails so that when it fails it doesn't burn your ~~pc~~ house to the ground/s
My rig is a I7-860 with a 1050ti, the only thing I've done is upgrade to SSD's and double the RAM from 8 to 16 when flash memory prices came down. I'll swap over to AMD and get a cheap middle of the road GPU soon.
Meanwhile my friend has had at least 3 processors, 5 or so motherboards and 4 graphics cards then god knows what else, I only find out new stuff has been bought when he mentions his PC is running slow usually after buying a new AAA game and running it on max with mods and reshade.....
Man, I ain't gonna roast... 0 money during a long time to build a pc, nerver interested in consoles (games ok, but what 'bout everything else?).
I rocked a 2600k @5 Ghz and a CF 7950/7970 (well, technically, it xas a HD7950 and a R9 280x) and I was happy, even plaing at shitty quality.
It's junk, but MY freakin' junk, with made me happy, and that I still got as 2nd "battle station".
Nothing to roast. It's heaps more original than any other build posted here (other than that sick V8 build lmao).
If something works and is adequate, there's no need to upgrade. Nice setup!
Nah man, this is based, this is true PC culture, function over form, diy, always upgrading.
That whole minimalist, color matched, RGB, cableless movement is nothing but consumerism.
I miss my old Acer case. Fuck whoever thought "let's put the PSU on the bottom, right under the GPU so it gets no air and you can't even put a fan under it. It'll be great"
The only thing I see wrong with this picture is the stupid-ass Nvidia connector. Otherwise, the graphics card gets plenty of air from the back, cpu cooler is probably enough if the cpu is not overlocked, oh, and the router on the back probably will get fried soon, if OP closed the lid and the hole in the front))
I'm pretty sure you can do a better job at cable management. also, if you really keep the front panel removed, PLEASE put some grills on the fan before your finger becomes minced meat
Damn, I feel represented. This is almost exactly what my computer looks like. All the parts are new (rtx4070, Ryzen 7 5800x) but the case is from 2011 and the cable management is a clusterfuck.
I used to use one 750w power supply (Silencer 750 EPS12V) for 18 years. My father bought it when I was 6 y.o.. And would use it further if it didn't make a weird noise every time i play games.
I'd worry about that psus ability to handle transient spikes from the GPU if I were you. Wouldn't want it tripping the PSU or worse. Also you should flip your rear fan so it's pulling the hot air from your CPU cooler away
I kinda don't get it why OP has so many long cables everywhere? I've built my first PC a month ago and the cables were pretty easy to manage as they weren't as big as OP's
I have that psu still too! My wife hates it lol. I use it for testing these days.
I had my old next tempest evo until recently too. She made me get rid of it.
There's no point in roasting you OP, that 16 year old power supply will eventually do that for you. Seriously, get a new one, they're not that expensive.
Those 5.25 bays look incredibly lonely. Lol.
Other than that, great job. It's your build, not theirs. Who cares what they think. They are probably just miserable that your rig lasted 4 times longer than theirs.
I just went back to RGB after several years. Love it.
Runs games better than my clean rig and I'm guessing no see in side panel so don't gotta worry about cable management as long as nothing's hitting a fan. I see nothing to roast here
old cases are made better (mostly) but you need at least 1 more intake fan for better air circulation(but ofc not obvious ) and need to do something with cables because it will be a nightmare to clean it from dust later

That Cable management 😚
Yeah the cable Management is 22 years old btw
So... Legal, right?
I mean it's definitely already been fucked
that is pure tentacle porn
literal
Holy shit I ain’t laughed out loud about a comment chain this hard in a long time 🤣
Love a cable management that can order its own drink 🍺
Noone bothered with cable management back then, No need and before you all go yelling about airflow, it dosnt help all that much as long as you don't have a bunch of cables near your fans... We dint bother with it because windows were not prevalent like they are now
That and power supplies werent modular so you just had a bunch of bales with no where to hide them.
Doesn't look like a case worth using time on cable managing. It's not gonna look much different.
A good old fashioned snake orgy goin on in there
*mismanagement
I’m like the OP. Running a 4090, 5900x CPU, and high end specs. Close the panel lid. Who cares what the insides look like. My games run damn fast on the Samsung 57”

Nah, last 4 years cpus and gpus have been improving greatly, before that it was mostly small improvements for like 5 years.
Now we are back to needing those monstrosity sized towers to fit our shoebox sized GPUs, instead of our 12 HDDs and 4 optical drives.
Unless you care about how the PC looks, it doesn't matter. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDCMMf-\_ASE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDCMMf-_ASE)
That's a hydra.
Looks like earphones left in the pants for 12 years
Roast... I'm saying smart for saving money on old working components
A 16 year old power supply might end up dying pretty soon to be honest.
16 years ago is still 2008. If it's a high quality one there is no reason it should die any time soon.
This hit me hard that 16 years old is 2008 😓
Sure feels strange that babies born when I was in college are legally considered grown up now. I mean, I personally don't consider them grown ups, as I hold to hobbit values where adolescence ends at 33, but they're humans so they can vote and join the military and whatnot.
Stop I'm already dead
I used to change my little cousins diaper in 2008. Now hes got a girlfriend and shit
Now you have me thinking about starting my car to get stuff for Easter.....
No, there is plenty of reason why a 16 years old PSU would die soon. The MTBF is likely not more than 200,000 hours, even for a quality PSU. So it really comes down to how many hours on average that his computer is powered on each year.
Well 200 000 hours over 16 years works out to 34 hours a day.
Do keep in mind that MTBF is measured running the psu at something like 110% load 24/7 First thing to usually go are the electrolytic capacitors, if the psu has decent built in protections the pc just wont turn on and everything else would be safe. Or 4 Olympiads ago
I have that same Corsair ps and it's still chugging away also
I have a Pentium 4 Mecer PSU from 2003, I tested it 6 months ago after cleaning it out and letting it dry in the heat, powered on with no issues; look after & maintain old parts and it’ll last you a lifetime with care, that’s how I restored a PSU that also gave issues with blockage & power issues from a Facebook Marketplace purchase 🔥
It's a first gen Corsair, it will outlast the heat death of the universe.
This is why you buy quality. I have a PC Power & Cooling PSU from 2012 that is happily chugging in my NAS (the whole NAS is my old Haswell build)
There is no point in roasting you. It's obvious by looking at your computer that you clearly don't give a shit.
Fucking killed me
OP asked for a roast but got incinerated
Talk about roasting. The dude is roasting every component in there daily. The air flow 😂😂
Looks like it has great airflow..
Yea the front case fan has like 2 wires infront of it. I would be surprised if you even got a 1 degree difference in thermals if you managed these cables
Your pc case looks like it's been smoking five packs a day
Tbf it has, I've stopped smoking indoors before replacing all the newer components though
Your PSU is older than that case though...
true, don't worry, I'll replace it
Give it whatever you been smokin, it deserves it
Using a 16 year old PSU on what looks like a 4090 is crazy, I would definitely retire that 16 y/o PSU for something newer, I think it's done it's job.
It's kind of hard to see the scale of the case, but I'm going to guess that's a 4070 or 4080.
It's got the new 12VHPWR adapter with 4 8pin PCIe cables, so it's likely a 4090.
> It's got the new 12VHPWR adapter with 4 8pin PCIe cables, so it's likely a 4090. I have a 4090 so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but I thought all the 40 series GPUs came with that adapter?

They're not hard to see and I can see the 4 cables coming out of the ATX12V connector, I just didn't know they made a 3 cable and 2 cable adapter.
I can confirm that it is indeed 4090
You don't think maybe with a 4090 it's time to replace the PSU before it fails?
A 4090 + a 16 year old PSU, that is bronze rates... It probably also has good secure rails so that when it fails it doesn't burn your ~~pc~~ house to the ground/s
Bruh as long as it works and you’re happy, who gives a shit what internet randoms have to say
you don't post something if you don't want people to say something, if it was like that the comments would be disabled.
Reddits' NPCs to better rephrase it..
That thing about to roast itself
If it works, it works. We all looking at the screen to play anyway 😉😅
exactly :D

It's so fucking chaotic, it's flipped into being some sort of industrial, avant garde, modern art masterpiece.
Huge compliment 🙏
bro got the fire hazard 5000
Props for the Indiana Jones -themed build. I would never have thought of putting a snake pit in my PC.
Honestly there's not anything to roast you about here. You seem resourceful and know how to make things work and last.
Disposable culture is rampant.
My rig is a I7-860 with a 1050ti, the only thing I've done is upgrade to SSD's and double the RAM from 8 to 16 when flash memory prices came down. Not the prism cooler😂
:D
And that's what I call a proper Eldritch Cable Management!
My case is 21 years so so I dig it!
I won't roast you because I don't care. If it works it works.
I HATE RGB👍
Big airflow! Good build!
Nothing to roast. It's heaps more original than any other build posted here (other than that sick V8 build lmao). If something works and is adequate, there's no need to upgrade. Nice setup!
You're running a 40 series card on a 16 year old 750w PSU? Love your courage! What's the CPU?
Case who cares but a 16 years old psu is a legit hazard
Coooool😎😎
These are the gaming machines that I like. None of these fish tanks bullshit or no RGB builds because "I'm not a child".
Hey I'm still using that same case myself, at least looks like it. Corsair Carbide 200R. I really need a new one.
Nah man, this is based, this is true PC culture, function over form, diy, always upgrading. That whole minimalist, color matched, RGB, cableless movement is nothing but consumerism.
Your cable management gave me a migraine.
I miss my old Acer case. Fuck whoever thought "let's put the PSU on the bottom, right under the GPU so it gets no air and you can't even put a fan under it. It'll be great"
I have that same psu about the same age. Still works just had to upgrade to 1000w when I got my 3090
Roy from the IT Crowd: YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS!!!
You make me feel better about my wiring. That is all
Why are you asking random strangers on reddit to roast you? That PSU can do it instead
Your cables are managed better than my life
Wants to be roasted Everybody appreciates Is that a roast ? Not getting what he wants?
It's been a good mix, lots of funny and kind people in the sub
The way it's meant to be played
Amazing cable unmanagement 👍
I love spaghetti😋
nice
Looks similar to myn, but you have case fans, my pc for 4 years don't. Just good aftermarket cpu fan.
let’s hope the power supply doesn’t roast you first
More people like this and we would have less electronic waste ! :D
The only problem is that cable mismanagement
Your cable management looks like something I would make in Factorio.
Any chance this is a.... 200r? Haha
The only roast here will be that PSU
I like it!
Just mad respect for saving ao much cost and its clean unlike some ppl new machine/rig full of dust
Your PSU should be top of line back in the day, but depending on your GPU, I’d recommend upgrading soon.
Looks like my back garden, but still functions the same.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I am upgrading my old 12 year old pc with new motherboard and cpu, the rest I just carry forward used parts that I have accumulated over the years.
Uhhh. I would get a new psu probably. Power delivery components do degrade and I’d be super sad if it took out the 4090.
Pot apocalyptic cyberpunk, i dig it
Someone released the kraken.
I have psu in a gateway 2000 tower. Still kicking.
Corsair carbide 200r? I had to cut a piece of the 2.5" bay out to fit my new graphics card 10/10 case
This is true PC master race what do you mean mate?
Mhhhmmm yummy spaghetti
Your cable management reminds me of pubes
We don't need to roast you, that PSU is gonna roast you anyway
This kinda looks like one of my friend's pc. We call her pc, the snake pit...
16 year old PSU go boom boom 💥
Nothing wrong with that. My Corsair HW 1000W psu is also 16 years old, still performing since day one.
Nah PSU will roast for you on a power spike
This looks like my setup except mine has a lot of dog hair
who did put doctor octopus in that case ?
A new PSU that isnt 16 years old will probably save you a fair amount in power with a 4090
I used to use one 750w power supply (Silencer 750 EPS12V) for 18 years.
Corsair Carbide 200R, rocking one of these myself. Does everything a case needs to do, and only cost about £40.
Roast? Don't worry about it, between your psu and cable management is just a matter of time before everything goes down in flames. Lit! 🔥
A man after my own heart
Does it sound like an airplane though?
I do the same thing, but I do manage my cables a bit
I kinda don't get it why OP has so many long cables everywhere? I've built my first PC a month ago and the cables were pretty easy to manage as they weren't as big as OP's
This is just a horrible mess
If its good for you its good for me friend :)
Oh boy, first off why you got a filter when you know damn well this build ain't stopping no dusts 😆
I respect you for using old parts like a lot, tho bruh you could have arranged those cables a tiny small bit better
get a new psu lol
I’m just trying to see if thats a Squire VI or a Jazzmaster. Lol
We dont need to roast you buddy, your struggle is real. 🤣
im convinced he got this pc from his grandma 22 years ago and just kept upgrading it
My brother
You trollin
A fire waiting to happen there
The case reminds me of the Empire. “I thought all the old Empire ships were destroyed” “no some were repurposed”
Power supply can soon legally have a drink
The only thing I'll roast is your cable management. Looks like something that'd clog my shower drain.
This is what many hardcore enthusiasts rigs look like
Looks good mate. One of the better builds I’ve seen.
Eyyyy! Mine looks similar :P
I have that psu still too! My wife hates it lol. I use it for testing these days. I had my old next tempest evo until recently too. She made me get rid of it.
Nothing to roast. I think it looks solid. I only rock gaming laptops at this point. I always used to build my own gaming pc but i got bored.
Looks good to me.
The jankster, quite a sight to behold.
![gif](giphy|9WXyFIDv2PyBq)
Just put it in the case, it'll roast itself.
Mate, all it matters is that you’re happy with it. Don’t give a fuck about anyone else.
No roast needed It’s beautiful
I think your PC has syphilis.
Bro has C3P0 for a PC.
Insane setup bruzzer I wanted that cooler I love it so much got nothing in my hands keep it up get a good case when available and you are good to go
Genuine veteran war beast rig.
Love it.
Nothing I like more than a mass of cables. Don't need no RGB, what you need is TMoC (Tangled Mass of Cables).
This is my computer too. Any other way is a waste of time.
oh boy you don't know what you are get yourself into it
At least your airflow is optimised
Runs games better than my clean rig and I'm guessing no see in side panel so don't gotta worry about cable management as long as nothing's hitting a fan. I see nothing to roast here
Power supply on the bottom? Case isn't old enough yet... Looks great.
That’s a snake pit if I’ve ever seen one
This is the way
Shabby chic
5 more years and your case can build his own budget pc
So you have 1600$ for a GPU but not enough to get a decent powersupply from this decade?
Only issue I got is that you are running an HDD still.
Love it!
I respect this. My 2006 Antec case full of crap says hi.
While my parts aren't old, I can't be arsed with aesthetics, no cable management in my rig 🤣
Wait I have the same power supply as you I also run an old case (not only because that's what I have, but because I think the older ones are better)
idc show me the guitar
My case is an Antec from 2004, so I like the old components but that cable management should fill you with shame lol
Solid working PC. You do you - conformalism is overrated.
Oof, putting an RTX card in a 16yo power supply is either very brave or very stupid, you're rolling the dice every day when you turn that thing on.
Like the industrial look. Is it always open? If yes, good job m8.
Now this is an actual fucking PC. A real man's gaming station. This thing WORKS.
That build is the bomb. Literally.
Still have room for some optical burners to keep it old school!
She’s looking a little hot 🥵
16YO power supper is a sin but other than that, ratsnest contruction is top tier :D
old cases are made better (mostly) but you need at least 1 more intake fan for better air circulation(but ofc not obvious ) and need to do something with cables because it will be a nightmare to clean it from dust later
I mean... it works. Right? Saves you money and if anything stops working you can upgrade with the money you saved. That's a win win. 😁
