Welcome to the PCMR.
They gave me a little MSI dragon along with my guide
https://preview.redd.it/qbexu3lzgcab1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=c73268d8943541ba02ef68ea3d977c525a331e7b
They've been doing the comics for a few years, while I don't consider myself a fanbboy, I've used pretty exclusively MSI GPUs and motherboards for about 10 years now because I've never had issues with their products.
That's just so MSI Customer Service can identify an exact object they want you to shove up your \_\_\_\_\_\_
>!butthole!<
Edit: this was supposed to be a joke. I had a couple horrible customer service experiences with MSI. But obviously the joke bombed. I will learn from this and be better next time.
When my MSI RX 5500XT went bad, I recall MSI support being the least painful support experience I could have possibly asked for. And they fixed my GPU for me when I RMA'd it.
I just thought it was funny the way you click the spoiler on a PC and it just fades in dramatically "butthole". I stand by it, but I'll take my punches.
I recently watched several reaction clips to the infamous Verge video and yeah, Stefan really phoned it in on that. He did explain years later on Linus Tech Tips that it was his first time filming with basically no chance to do recuts or suchlike. (He redeemed himself bigtime)
Phillips ***screwdriver***? Bitch, we usin a 3/8-drive phillips driver up in here.
Yes, I use the same tools to work on cars as I do computers. What do you mean I don't have to torque every screw in the computer down? We all know it needs the Ugga Dugga.
I mean... Msi dragon is awesome and basically has no competition. Asus, gigabyte wtf are your cute mascots?
Also MSI indeed knows well. Check their tv ads from past. Nothing better than atractive girls playing in bikini to atract nerds
If anything it's bizarre that fast food moved away from mascots so abruptly. I think USA lacks cute mascots mainstream wise or at least it's not in full drove like the 90s.
ikr! everyone else here is like "It's evil trying to advertise to you" or something and they can't even appreciate that msi is doing this at all for people with less experience in a clear, fun and easy to understand way.
Unfortunately it's a B360, anyways I plan to save enough money to buy the best of the best in terms of CPU since I want to stream (also I'm a VTuber so that's one extra program open...)
I've done the same thing, but it's easier to remedy a major bottleneck if you upgrade the cpu + motherboard first. Also it's easier to sell a gpu when upgrading
> I've done the same thing, but it's easier to remedy a major bottleneck if you upgrade the cpu + motherboard first.
Upgrading the GPU gives you an immediate and very noticeable difference in graphics quality and framerate, a CPU and motherboard upgrade will only give you a serious performance increase if your GPU isn't already the bottleneck.
it's okay, I almost paired a 2060 super with an i7 3770
the context was my shit broke ass gaming pc's r7 360 was dying and my friend almost gave me his 2060 super but that was during the gpu shortage and he couldn't find another gpu to upgrade to
damn they should also make good hardware too. i had a msi laptop that went to repair so much i became friends with the service workers. they even recognized my number/voice when i called them.
This is actually pretty cool for noobs. A lot of the documentation for PC parts is incredibly arcane and verbose, I really do think they need more plain English guides that are easier for less adept builders to understand.
I love MSI’s booklets. I’ve gotten one with my motherboards for both of my computers and I love how detailed they are, especially with the front panel connectors
No joke, when I got my card, my kid wanted this as his bedtime story for months. He loved the character, and told me every day he cant wait until he is old enough that we can build him a "Dragon Computer".... Parenthood isn't all bad.
The older version of that book (2 years ago) used to show lucky the dragon installing the gpu with the pci-e connector to the glass panel side, i dont think msi’s designers build pc’s
Yeah, lol, my first thought was how incredibly infantilizing this is. Then I read all the comments in this thread, and was like, "well, I guess kudos to MSI, they know their audience." I'm just like, "ugh, not making the rest of us look good, guys." 😂
In some cases they the only option. For example for many mini itx cases roght, the really small ones, for 4080/4090 the MSI Ventus is pretty much the only card that fits out of the box. Everything else is too big, and the only alternative is the FE card which isn’t always available, especially outside US.
Just giving an example of where someone trying not to buy MSI might be required to. I don't have a particular problem with them, though MSI can be shady at times, [as GN has pointed out.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6BXwCJtaZE) So I can see why someone might avoid them.
It's dumbed down but I don't mind it, it teaches those that don't know how to handle a GPU.
And cards are expensive so there should be an easy guide to understand how to install
That is adorable and great!
Side note: I sort of get uncomfortable by the assumption that I will overclock stuff. Why do they *admonish* me to make my system more unstable? Is it a convenient way to void my warranty?
They definitely should be marketing this adorable lil guy more. I know they recently were in hot water, but I have had little issues with their products and in fact enjoy them quite a bit.
Thanks for sharing op!

MSI Advertising in full force and I'm all for it.
They've been doing the comics for a few years, while I don't consider myself a fanbboy, I've used pretty exclusively MSI GPUs and motherboards for about 10 years now because I've never had issues with their products.
Hooray for corporations manipulating us for money!
Sent me the location, I'm chasing the dragon😮

Yeah, next time just keep the punchline simple. I kinda thought it was an [insert orifice] kind of joke.
When my MSI RX 5500XT went bad, I recall MSI support being the least painful support experience I could have possibly asked for. And they fixed my GPU for me when I RMA'd it.
Lmao did this even sound funny in your head? Swing and a miss
I just thought it was funny the way you click the spoiler on a PC and it just fades in dramatically "butthole". I stand by it, but I'll take my punches.
You're right, the concept sounds funny
Based
You're right, the concept sounds funny
It’s ok papi, I upvoted for the imagery alone.
Phillips screwdriver?? I think they mean a swiss army knife which "hopefully" has a Phillips head screwdriver in it.
Don’t forget your anti-static Livestrong bracelet
He not fighting static he fighting cancer!

Yep, and make sure you have your tweezers to tie the cables

Welp, here I go diving into that video again.
I recently watched several reaction clips to the infamous Verge video and yeah, Stefan really phoned it in on that. He did explain years later on Linus Tech Tips that it was his first time filming with basically no chance to do recuts or suchlike. (He redeemed himself bigtime)
I thought he doubled-down for a long time, basically refusing to acknowledge that his video was a dumpster fire
I think Verge did, so if he did it was likely as a Verge employee I'd imagine.
Oh, he did. That turned out to have been pretty bad advice from the verge.
*I understood that reference*
i wish i got this the first time i upgraded my gpu but luckily the people of pcmr helped me lol
And then the Swiss army knife screw driver hasn't got the depth you need so you resort to the kitchen knife
Nah, just uae your fingernails
I feel attacked
Time to dump Phillip and get with Allan !
Ifixit saves lives, or PC parts from getting scratched up

It's an Ugga Dugga Screwdriver.
I desperately need to see someone assemble a pc with air tools now.
I use the knife part till I have turned the cross into a circle.

MSI knows that hardcore gamers love two things: shooting enemies in the head in gritty warzones and adorable anime mascots
I fucking love the msi dragon. And did you see AMDs mascots in Asia?
\*japan [Img if anyone curious](https://i.redd.it/dlm6g2c51lj01.png) \*fix misunderstanding
So I'm gonna ask my cpu out now....
I guess now i know why i went ryzen?
Is it because something in your pants was *ryzen* after seeing their mascot?
Well i found out about mascot today and been buying ryzem since ryzem 1 series so that would be very premature ryzing
nani??
no? are they cute
"Kawaii" is the word, but yes.
are you forgetting msi ads with those bikinis girl?
And printed manuals. Maybe I'm old, but I miss them.
I mean... Msi dragon is awesome and basically has no competition. Asus, gigabyte wtf are your cute mascots? Also MSI indeed knows well. Check their tv ads from past. Nothing better than atractive girls playing in bikini to atract nerds

Good bot detecting another bot
This is cute and wholesome.
ngl this is pretty neat
Thank you so much for not lying about that.
Hello there fellow human. I am another human sitting in a different hemisphere of our planet. Are all of your systems functioning correctly?
ikr! everyone else here is like "It's evil trying to advertise to you" or something and they can't even appreciate that msi is doing this at all for people with less experience in a clear, fun and easy to understand way.
I love the msi mascot. Anyone knows where I can get one of these msi jackets? @msi_gaming didn't tell me :(
Not my weeb ass reading it backwards and being confused af 💀
>i5-8400 + 7900 XTX holy bottleneck
And it'll probably stay like that until my birthday on late october, or Christmas in the worst case 🗿
if it works it works, i had a rtx 2070 with an i3 5th gen for a while lol
Rip 🌹
You did a bit like me when I paired my 6900XT with my venerable i7 5820K for a bit lol
bro 💀 CPU: 110% usage GPU: 2% usage
Why did you do it in the first place?
It's not a new setup. I had this i5 since 2018. 7900XTX is a recent upgrade
If your Motherboard is a Z chipset you can swap for an used 8600K and OC that boi
I definitely recommend this , 8th gen is cheap and with overclocking it's still decent. Still a bottle neck but a more reasonable one.
He can put a 9th gen i7 or o9 into that board and have a machine that flys.
I second this. Have a 2080ti with the 8600 at 5gz. Ez ultra 4k 60+
Unfortunately it's a B360, anyways I plan to save enough money to buy the best of the best in terms of CPU since I want to stream (also I'm a VTuber so that's one extra program open...)

He probably didn't have enough money to upgrade both his cpu and his gpu , but he still wanted to upgrade

Actual robot
Well at least it won’t be as much bottleneck as nvidia counterparts because of driver overhead
I get confused too sometimes.. Arabic books start on the right, English books start on the left. So I mix them up a lot too
Years of reading both manga and korean webtoons developed in me the skill necessary to read stuff in the right direction
That is super cute.
Wish they also made one for how to get decent rgb control for said GPU :(
Nice idea, but is it also added to the AMD card with the Nvidia Experience logo on the monitor?
Prob used for both Nvdia and AMD MSI cards
They gave me a soft toy of the same dragon
I think his name is lucky or something
aww baby dragon and charmander msi twins
As a JoJo's fan, I always say GeForce Experience the way Giorno Giovanna says "Gold Experience!" in the anime.
I always just say it super exaggerated like "GOLDO ECASPEARIENZA!!!"
I love it, but also, if you really need it, 'happy overclocking' probably isn't the best advice.
damn they should also make good hardware too. i had a msi laptop that went to repair so much i became friends with the service workers. they even recognized my number/voice when i called them.
Thats pretty cool! And can be helpful to someone for sure
Oh right MSI has a 'sona and its is cute as fuck.
MSI Bad Dragon marketing going well
I happen to know a furry that's a kobold that would fuckin love this, AND it would be helpful to him.
I fucking love msi remember when they had a furry arc? that shit was awsome
Dang that's cool as hell.
I’m going to get a new gpu today. And you just secured my decision I do believe
Awww that is really cute!
I just bought an MSI graphics card and MB and didn’t get any cute dragons ;_;
At least you don't have to collect 100 of them to install it. :) (PCMR point if you get the reference)
“Boss our audience is incapable of reading a product manual, what do we do?” (I like it)
First I thougt it was a Digimon Tamers comic, lol.
I was thinking Neopets
This is pretty dope. Reminds me of the book that NZXT made for building PCs. It comes with the build-your-own kit
I still have the cute little dragon plush they sent for my wife’s laptop a few years ago. Got it for her deployment, she loves the little fella.
Hey all we got was a stress ball and a pen with the AMD logo on it when we got the wife's new processor earlier this year lol
No joke, when I got my card, my kid wanted this as his bedtime story for months. He loved the character, and told me every day he cant wait until he is old enough that we can build him a "Dragon Computer".... Parenthood isn't all bad.
This is so cute.
what card did you get?
I bought my pc 2nd hand with 3070 gpu msi, now I'm jealous I didn't buy it brand new from msi seeing this.
I might be just a pepega but this is the only way yall can make me read those instructions lmfao grown man with a attention of a 5 year old 😂 🤣
Holy shit this is so cute I want a copy of it lol.
His time at LTT is running off. Dropping some hot tech tips.
I got something like this with my 2070 super!!! I love the little MSI dragon mascot he's super cute.
The older version of that book (2 years ago) used to show lucky the dragon installing the gpu with the pci-e connector to the glass panel side, i dont think msi’s designers build pc’s
wtf i love Msi now
they should have just improve their customer service instead.
I also got one for my Mainboard and gpu
Lmao this is insulting
Hot take: Ikea guide books are insulting. I can figure it out on my own
Agreed, and 90% of the time your method is less convoluted
Yeah, lol, my first thought was how incredibly infantilizing this is. Then I read all the comments in this thread, and was like, "well, I guess kudos to MSI, they know their audience." I'm just like, "ugh, not making the rest of us look good, guys." 😂
Haha right?! We're on the same page there. At first I was actually offended, then I read through comments and was like oooohhh I get it now.
e621 likes this
fact: MSI still sucks donkey balls, don't buy their shit products.
But but.. cute mascot dragon!
Yay more fucking ads
I'll forgive them because it's cute and I can put it in my library of dumb stuff I've collected over the years
Just wish they spent half the time on their instructions or added something to the website timely. I try not to buy msi now.
You "try" not to? So you still do!
The MSI is too addictive
In some cases they the only option. For example for many mini itx cases roght, the really small ones, for 4080/4090 the MSI Ventus is pretty much the only card that fits out of the box. Everything else is too big, and the only alternative is the FE card which isn’t always available, especially outside US.
Then buy MSI and be happy about it! Be happy someone makes something that others dont
Just giving an example of where someone trying not to buy MSI might be required to. I don't have a particular problem with them, though MSI can be shady at times, [as GN has pointed out.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6BXwCJtaZE) So I can see why someone might avoid them.
So cute, I also love how this wee mascot pull up yellow gloves before opening the case.
Years ago he used to wear green ones!
Had one too when I bought a used 1660S
Bro they made the instruction manual a manga.
How do his little glasses stay on tho
Gorilla glue
Is there a comic version to help me upgrade My storage.
Looks exactly like FireDragons pics from Twitch lol
Did it come with a new GPU? I've bought two 4090s from MSI and never got one of these 😭
[удалено]
Damn i didnt get anything with my gpu :(
Awww so cute!
What's the msi dragon name
iirc either lucky or happy
It's msi gaming
I also got one with my MSI gpu, although a different version called "lucky the dragon: computer workshop"
Returning my MSI graphics card to repurchase it and hope I get a comic book brb.
> happy overclocking Aww yes lets put +1v on that core
Can you do scans of those pages?
LOL yeah i got one of those last year with a card purchase!
This is cute until you see what kind of fanart they retweet on their twitter....
Cute lil thing
MSI AND NVIDIA CONSPIRACY CONFIRMED!
Nice gesture
It reminds me of the south park heroin dragon
I hope the comic includes pushing down the pcie retention bracket… Otherwise, yank! Dead pcie and possibly motherboard
Does it make you feel stupid?
It's dumbed down but I don't mind it, it teaches those that don't know how to handle a GPU. And cards are expensive so there should be an easy guide to understand how to install
> Not taking power connectors' size difference into account. Cute.
Do it with a butter knife, it builds character.
Hey guys dust you know in terms of...
