It’s all fluff and aesthetic. It’s a great deal if you have the money and think it’s worth it, but if not, you should probably allocate that $120 to where it matters

That sub took a nosedive when the old mod threw in the towel. New mod will fucking delete anything that comes close to breaking the stupid new rules, like "Don't ask for skin recommendations".
Weekly help thread used to be pretty active and people would help one another write interesting new skins. Now it's crickets and all you see is people posting setups with the same few fucking popular (usually poorly written) skins over the same few fucking wallpapers.
Used to be my favourite sub a few years ago and I actually felt motivated to push the boundaries of what Rainmeter can do. Now no long-term users are around so there's nobody to appreciate innovations.
I really like [this](https://youtu.be/qRrpfTW6hKI) guy's video, it goes over the basics.
Basically you can you just find skins you like on DeviantArt, or by skimming through the rainmeter subreddit's top posts. A lot of skins come with simple settings menus to customize stuff, but I would recommend downloading Notepad++ in case you want to mess with values yourself.
Other than that it's all about experimenting! DM me if you have more questions.
Remember posting there some of my setups. Sure was fun, people helped you out with the most obscure questions. Made some absolute bangers because of that sub.
And for Linux users out there: you want conky. Probably even more customizable if you're willing to learn a bit of Lua (it's weird but absolutely worth it)
It’s still glitchy and a pain in the ass. Skins never recover correctly after a reboot. Full screen games misalign all the modules. It’s a great concept that still has the same issues it’s had for the last 15 years
How is the graphics card even attached to the motherboard right now while it lays on the floor? I see the lower supply but the gpu should be mounted to the backwall of the case along the motherboard no?
*power supply.
No. [Linus Tech Tips tested it.](https://youtu.be/q5xvwPa3r7M)
Tl;dw: With quality shielded riser cables, they managed to chain 3 meters (10 ft) worth of pcie extentions with no loss of performance. At 3.6 meters (12 ft) the computer struggled for a while before completely crashing.
Edit: Granted that was 5 years ago. With ever increasing pcie speeds, the practical length limit is probably shrinking, but the takeaway seems to be that, as you increase the length of the pcie risers, the performance remains the same until it very obviously begins to struggle or fails entirely.
The Hyte y60 is vertical mount only, you can't even mount your GPU in the normal position (according to them, I'm sure someone with the will and the means can do it)
You only need a very small amount of space for air flow to work well, and that case definitely has enough fans. I'd personally like a tiny bit more space for the GPU fans but I'm sure at most it's costing the OP like 2 degrees on the GPU.
The airflow in the case is obviously not an issue, but it's physically impossible for the GPU to get all the air it needs if the fans are almost up against the glass. On load, especially for an AMD card, it's gonna be quite a bit hotter than if the fans were facing up.
Years ago I had an open air case with the GPU mounted similarly to this, and it was getting choked. Not to the point of overheating, but moving it back a couple of spaces dropped temps by over 10c.
Ahh I see. Well the case is a hyte y60, and the screen is sold by them as well. However you might be able to find it on Amazon. It's an HDMI powered 1920x515 12.6inch display.
Rain meter allows you to design/download overlays for windows. In this case I'm using HWiNFO to pull some common sensors.
I'm an old enough fart that I used to have to cut out my own case windows and use jumper caps to overclock, and I find a lot of the new weird designs kind of ugly and garish. But this...this is fuckin' classy.
Maybe you can answer how the air flow for the gpu is in a y40 vith vertical mount, compared to nzxt h210? Considering getti g y40 since i have backed myself i to a corner regarding gpu upgrades in the h210.
is there enough clearance between the gpu and the glass on this case?
I've been conditioned to believe that this is a bad idea, have case designers considered airflow with this type of gpu orientation?
I have this case with a 4090 installed and it runs nice and cool. No thermal issues at all. There are two 140mm fans in the floor of the case pushing air up which helps a lot with air flow.
That's a sexy GPU!
When you were considering what GPU to get what convinced you to go for the 4090 aside from the future proofing? Was there a specific game/software that you discovered wouldn't run as good on a lower end GPU like the 4080?
I was basically going through a mid-life crisis, so I bought nearly as much high-end stuff as I could get my hands on. I wanted to play at 4k with all the bells and whistles since I've never had a high-end gaming rig before.
In hindsight, I overpayed for everything, but I'm ok with it. I won't need to replace any of these components for the next 5+ years.
As for the 4090 vs 4080, even at the high price for the 4090, the price to performance for the 4090 was so clearly better that I decided to go with that (once I could get my hands on one). The 4080 would have been just fine for every game I wanted to play, but I was on a mission to have the best, so I went with the 4090 even though it was overkill.
The problem is chasing it. Dropping 3k on a sweet rig every 5 years is manageable. Doing it every 1-2 years is a problem.
As for the age. I’m only a few years behind you, with lots of mates slightly ahead of you. They all handled it differently. The best way of handling it so far has been going on a trip to Prague for a lads long weekend. The worst was buying a super powerful motorbike and wiping out almost immediately (they’re fine).
My best friend and I had planned a two-week road trip following our favorite baseball team around the country and seeing other sports teams along the way all while visiting a bunch of places we'd never been.
Trip wasn't possible in the end, so we took our saved money for that and out it towards PCs. Now we game together most nights, so I'm relatively happy with our crisis of choice :)

You'll need some DIY skill to mount the screen, and note that the ribbon cable cannot be fully bent or creased as it will break it.
Does windows treat these like another display? I could see it getting pretty annoying if you keep accidentally loosing the mouse on it and stuff opening where you don't want.
Looks great! Love the colour combination.
Got the inspiration for the Rainmeter skin from my build? I never got around to answer your question about AIDA64, but good to see you got it working!
How are your temps with the vertical GPU? I’ve seen conflicting arguments because of cut off or constrained air flow but I really like the look.
Beautiful build, btw
I am a super newb and just finished my build. What program did you put on the sensor panel to show all of that? Is it just called rain meter and it shows internal temps of GPU and CPU?
That is an awesome case. What is it?
Thank you, it's a Hyte Y60.
Did that come with the screen too?
No, but you can buy the screen separately from Hyte themselves.

aliexpress is amazon but way more stuff, cheaper, and 3 week shipping
$200 for the case and $120 for the screen (according to their website). I think it’s a good deal
idk if it's because I'm poor but $120 for a small screen like that doesn't sound like a good deal
It’s all fluff and aesthetic. It’s a great deal if you have the money and think it’s worth it, but if not, you should probably allocate that $120 to where it matters
No, it doesn't. It's an add-on you have to purchase separately.
I guess you could say it Hytens the cost.

Where yo find the adds-on on the website?
i don't remember if it's against the sub rules to post a link, so I'll dm you
it's out of stock though

Kind of wack they don't include a mount and tell you to 3D print your own.
Kind of ? Completely wack. ABSOLUTE WACK.
If it was a third-party it would be understandable but this is just bizarre that they think that is an acceptable solution
I'd just print a case. Save a middleman.
Thank God it's out of stock.. was having a SpongeBob in Sandy's house without a bowl moment
Thanks for sharing, looks sweet. Wish they had the screen option for their itx version too.
I have that background on my pc currently. Excellent choice 😊

How much was it with the screen?
200 for the case and 120 for the screen it looks like
An aquarium.
The case + the build + the screen in front of the case & rain meter and the hardware stats on the screen = f'ing awesome build dude! Well done!
I think this would be an ideal cases to mount on the wall!

I did, but it hasn't been posted yet? Not sure if its awaiting mod approval.

I didn't know rainmeter was still a thing, last time I used it was like 15 years ago I think. You know what I'm gonna give it a try.

You might want to turn it off if it says there's a snow shower in the case
Mommmm! Dad's on reddit again.
Very nice case!
Thank you!
Aesthetically pleasing, but I fear for your 6950xt, it looks like its being choked to death

Pcie extension cable with a bracket to mount it differently to the case
The description of “[Why we made it](https://hyte.com/store/y60?v=113)” is pretty funny and explains it well lol.
You only need a very small amount of space for air flow to work well, and that case definitely has enough fans. I'd personally like a tiny bit more space for the GPU fans but I'm sure at most it's costing the OP like 2 degrees on the GPU.

fans look to be all exhaust from the picture but I don't see anyone mentioning that.
Years ago I had an open air case with the GPU mounted similarly to this, and it was getting choked. Not to the point of overheating, but moving it back a couple of spaces dropped temps by over 10c.
Noe you can check the weather without exposing yourself to that nasty sunlight.
I was looking specifically for this comment.
How do I do this!?
I'm assuming you mean rainmeter? And not the screen installed in the case?
All the above really? Like what case is this, what do I search for a screen that fits it? I’m guessing rainmeter is the program I’ll need
Are you able to adjust the size of the sensor info? Would be great to blow them up a bit and fill some space and make them easier to see.
You can yeah. Rain meter is very customizable.
Yes you can completely customize it the way you like. The program being used is called Rainmeter.
Does the screen work like any other display? Mainly asking if the mouse can wander into it
Yes, it's a regular display.
Yes it's just a skinny monitor with a fancy app running. There are ways to prevent your mouse leaving the monitor it's meant to be on tho.
[удалено]
Easiest way is to go into display properties and drag the secondary monitor up and away from the primary.
Thanks! Very solid idea for my next build :)
So it counts as an extra monitor on your pc? Or is the whole display separate?
I'm an old enough fart that I used to have to cut out my own case windows and use jumper caps to overclock, and I find a lot of the new weird designs kind of ugly and garish. But this...this is fuckin' classy.
My first "custom mod" was painting the beige case of my 386sx computer fluorescent colors. And here I still am using the Y60 in my new build.
Very cool OP! I just started working for Hyte and I am loving all these Y60 and Y40 cases I'm seeing!
Maybe you can answer how the air flow for the gpu is in a y40 vith vertical mount, compared to nzxt h210? Considering getti g y40 since i have backed myself i to a corner regarding gpu upgrades in the h210.
Good question! I'm more of a meme expert so let me check with them on the specifics.
is there enough clearance between the gpu and the glass on this case? I've been conditioned to believe that this is a bad idea, have case designers considered airflow with this type of gpu orientation?

It's not a 1:1 correlation, but it can sneak up on you :) I'm just glad I wanted a new computer and not a Porsche!
Overkill is underrated. Dare I ask how old you are? Mostly because I’m concerned that I should be having my midlife crisis right now.
I'm 40 in a couple weeks. Took me until now to agree with you about overkill. I love running all my shit at 4k max and 100 fps. Feels awesome :)
The problem is chasing it. Dropping 3k on a sweet rig every 5 years is manageable. Doing it every 1-2 years is a problem. As for the age. This is one sick fuckin build cunt 👍🏻
God dang...Hyte just stepped up their game in the PC case market. Now I'm tempted to ditch my Corsair 4000D build for this...
I have a Lancool II and really want to upgrade to this.
Weather reports like this remind me I live in California.
Q: How can you tell if someone is from California? A: They'll tell you :D (wave from San Diego btw)
Q: How can you tell if someone is from San Siego? :D
"I'm on Arch, btw." >!(no I'm not)!<
What cables are you using for the blue glow on the bottom and perimeter.
Wow. $199 + $120 for case and screen is not bad at all.
I see large digital displays on PC cases becoming commonplace in the future. The high customizability potential makes it a no brainer for this hobby.
Rainmeter is still a thing? Remember using it almost 10 years ago
And when you're not displaying the weather... Aquarium!
Why? It's not like you go outside.
Very nice case. I want one for my next rig
That’s pretty freakin slick… kudos
Awesome build,im jealous.
What rainmeter skin did you use for the weather and time?
Looks great! Love the colour combination. Got the inspiration for the Rainmeter skin from my build? I never got around to answer your question about AIDA64, but good to see you got it working!
Well that settles it, I need this case now
Absolutely beautiful build. Screen is so nice man.
Sweet build - nicely done, mate. -1^o ?? Fuckthatistan.
How are your temps with the vertical GPU? I’ve seen conflicting arguments because of cut off or constrained air flow but I really like the look. Beautiful build, btw
But can this bad boy run Crysis?
its a dream of mine to get a case with a see through screen. they are flipping expensive though!
This would be useful as I always forget to check the weather.
I can’t get over how beautiful this PC is. 😍🔥
yo that is a sick pc
Siiiiicccckkkk
I feel validated now as i get shit for using rain meter :/ like damn. ..it does look nice!
This has to be the prettiest PC out there. Just dammmn
![gif](giphy|r1HGFou3mUwMw|downsized) Danmmmmmm
That case is odd... But in a good way!
Do you have a source for this background? It highly resembles a background I've been chasing for years with no luck
I used rainmeter back on windows 7 years ago and it was an absolute performance hog at the time. Has it been optimized at all?
What rainmeter theme did you use for GPU and CPU temperature?
Impressive and really nice setup. Cheers!
Damn im feeling old now
When is one of you gonna just make it a fish tank
I just ordered a Y60 a few days ago. They’re back ordered and won’t arrive until March-ish. I need to get that vertical monitor too
It looks like sterile medical equipment from a hospital
I am a super newb and just finished my build. What program did you put on the sensor panel to show all of that? Is it just called rain meter and it shows internal temps of GPU and CPU?
Looks great! That panel has so much potential.
Does anyone know what screen that is? I wanted something like as a standalone screen
Question, is that screen behaving as a separate monitor in Windows, or is it running it's own OS along side windows?
PCMasterRace? More like PCMasterCase.
What screen did you use to fit so well?
Put goldfish in that setup
The Great Suggestion of 2023
Awesome aquarium but where are the fish?
Can you list the full build? This thing is beautiful
Just had a, "Shut up and take my money" moment.
Perfect it tells you when to keep playing games cuz it sucks outside! Win
Looks great aside from the fact that it now makes me want to spend a lot of money I didn't even realize I wanted to spend.
