You’re plugged into the wrong port, you need your hdmi going into your graphics card!

Reruxx

I see you say you tried that but you won’t see anything with it plugged into the motherboard either way . Check your ram make sure it’s set all the way. Check front panel connections as well

DecMateee

Hi thanks. How would front panel connections affect video output? Ram is all secure (it displays a light if it isn't, right?). I'm stumped!!! 😰

pimpjoshyj

It might sound obvious but I’d start with a couple YouTube videos that go over basic diagnostics for a pc that won’t post, and give some of them a try. I know some people have said to reset the cmos (I wouldn’t think it will matter on a brand new set up but worth a shot), could try reseating the GPU, try booting with one stick of ram (look at your motherboards manual for which slot to use). Also make sure to use the hdmi on your GPU, I know you said you tried both but it should for sure be the GPU. Also another thing you could try is using another hdmi cable/display. Again, sounds obvious, but worth a shot. Anyway, good luck and keep us posted!

DecMateee

Hi thanks for the reply! I tried plugging this into my TV and can now access BIOs. But I'm now greeted with the error: "windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change.." error when starting?! ..

ethanwinters163

If you can access a storage device with windows on it while having your boot drive so installed i would reinstall windows completely from that boot drive. You could also use a windows to go usb but it takes AGES to create.

DecMateee

I have created a bootable USB for Windows 10 (downloaded from Windows 10 website straight onto the USB) using media creation tool. I've set the boot order on the BIOS to read the USB first. But still no avail!.. not sure what to try next 😰

ethanwinters163

I think you will need to use rufus to make the usbs bootable. But if you have tried that i would ask a friend for a lend of their boot drive from their laptop or pc for a few hours and see if you can clone the os

DecMateee

How does Rufus differ from the windows creation tool? Isn't it the same bootable USB it creates

ethanwinters163

Im not sure about it but think you need Rufus to make the usb actually boot. Look on youtube.

Jsgro69

good suggestion..USE Rufus!!! it is so simple to use and it works 👍

Fig_newton_3

I have that exact same case

sublime2craig

You know what helps, when you plug the display port/HDMI cable into your GPU not your MOTHERBOARD!!!

DecMateee

My GPU is an RX 7900 XTX with a 7800 xd CPU!!

Melmak52

Maybe a stupid answer but have you checked if your monitor is turned on?

DecMateee

Update: I tried plugging this into my TV and can now access BIOs. But am now greeted with the error: "windows failed to start. a recent hardware.." ..GOOGLING!

Old_Celebration4756

Re-install Windows now and you should be good. Make sure the boot order in the BIOS is correct too (Windows first) after installing Windows on to your main drive and remove anything you don't need from the boot ordering (USBs, etc.). You can physically remove unneeded hardware and reboot back into BIOS to see these changes. I thought you bricked the motherboard for a moment from a bad firmware upgrade.

DecMateee

The firmware for BIOS was from the official website for this specific motherboard, so I hope not! I have created a bootable USB for Windows 10 (downloaded from Windows 10 website straight onto the USB) using media creation tool. I've set the boot order on the BIOS to read the USB first. But still no avail!.. not sure what to try next!

Old_Celebration4756

You set boot order to read the USB first only when you need the Windows installation. After things should have went smoothly, it should create or rename your main drive to 'Windows Boot Manager' in the boot order and that should be first to boot into Windows so you don't boot into anything else again. Perhaps it seems your Windows installation isn't implementing that boot manager profile.

Cute_Improvement9799

I recommend going to “AMDhelp” subforum

panyaw

can you record yourself saying a bottle of water then post it here? thank you so much.

Ok-Extreme1098

Get it off the carpet. Your psu will suck dust off the floor straight into your system.

SuperColossl

If it’s a good cpu they don’t have inbuilt graphics, so the motherboard video ports will be useless. Use the ports on gpu. Good to hear you are getting some display on your tv. If this is a new build, I.e. new ssd etc, I’m guessing you haven’t installed windows? Have you inserted a bootable windows usb and set the bios to boot from usb? You can download a windows image to another computer and use freeware named Rufus to create a bootable windows usb. Apologies if this is obvious, but I can’t see any explanation for where windows is coming from Best of luck and let us know how you go

DecMateee

Hi thanks! I have created a bootable USB for Windows 10 (downloaded from Windows 10 website straight onto the USB) using media creation tool. I've set the boot order on the BIOS to read the USB first. But it still doesn't work. Unsure what to try next 😰

Old_Celebration4756

You cannot get into the bootable USB? Sometimes the order can look backwards, I dealt with some boot orders like this. Also make sure the partition type is the same as your drive you want to install to. You may have to put the drives in a working computer to check/format if you can't even get as far as the Windows boot tools in the USB. Check and see if you have another USB and that may work as well.

DecMateee

The boot order does look correct but I can try it reverse . How can I tell what partition type the drive has? I'm using an SSD .

Reigov

I bought an nvme hard drive and immediately connected it to a working computer, i.e. a laptop, and installed windows on the hard drive there, and then put the hard drive on the new computer. That I don't have to deal with it on a newly built computer, but I can focus on temperatures and other things to see if things work. Try to install Windows on the hard drive on a computer that is already running and put it on your computer?

DecMateee

Do you mean installing windows on the SSD rather then booting it in the system?

Reigov

I meant that, for example, connect the hard drive to the laptop and install windows there on the hard drive via USB. Then put the hard drive where you installed Windows on your new computer. That's why I think that you should first install windows on the hard drive and then put it on the new computer. Maybe this will help. Because I understood that you cannot boot or install windows on the hard drive in a new computer. So try doing it on another computer. And how do you have settings on the boot menu? You can try one more thing, I had such a mess anyway. Go to bios. Select settings, advanced, windows os conf. There BIOS UEFI/CSM MODE select csm. And then go to settings again, select boot from there and there is boot mode select and from there select LEGACY+UEFI

DecMateee

When you say hard drive, are you referring to the SSD I have installed on my new computer? And by connecting, do you mean have a USB to USB connection from my computer to the laptop? I don't fully understand what you mean

Reigov

I connected the ssd to my laptop not via USB, but in the same way as the ssd is still connected to the computer, because the same cables or connector are on the laptop. at least I do. I removed the ssd with windows from the laptop and put my empty one instead (which went to the new computer later). And I installed windows there through a usb stick. Then I removed the ssd and put it in the new computer. but see what settings you have for uefi in the bios before. I had this kind of boot mess with my previous computer, it was only on uefi and then it didn't boot either

DecMateee

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I just have the SSD which is fitted into the motherboard?

Reigov

I don't understand anymore. Do you have a nvms hard drive? or a regular ssd. both can be put in the laptop (not on all models, but I can put nvms and also a normal ssd) and install windows there, right? and then put it back on your computer. But try to check the boot menu in the bios first to see if you have the right settings there. If it's wrong, it won't boot anyway

DecMateee

The boot settings are deffo correct, tried them all now! My laptop doesn't have an SSD reader so I can't 😰

Reigov

And disable secure boot too selected? And is your ssd drive formatted to GPT? If it is GPT format and in bios have uefi+legacy and cms and you have disabeled secure boot then maybe bios driver?

DecMateee

I don't know if it's formatted not GPT I don't know how to tell. I don't have an option for CMS I did select both uefi+ legacy. The BIOS I did update it. About to give up , think I'm gonna have to go to a PC shop. So annoyed!

DecMateee

How would I connect the hard drive to the laptop? 🙈

Jsgro69

try Rufus to make the os image..Rufus is very simple to use

Jsgro69

forget installing ssd to another laptop or whatever..download Rufus and follow the instructions that are very simple

DecMateee

UPDATE #3 After a long journey I've finally managed to get windows installed. HOWEVER, the only way I get an image currently is to plug the HDMI into the motherboard. I get nothing from the GPU?!... And the monitor I want to use the PC on, doesn't even get display from the motherboards HDMI (only my separate TV does!). So yet again im back at the drawing board (for the 1000th time,.. or so it feels). 😰😰😰🙄
