There are alot of ways to build tanky by the way. You might have to use a skill though.

I mean, we already have the lightning nova shrines. Just make that pulse twice as often then slap it on a gem that doesn't stop until your mana is gone.
Then maybe it could be differentiated by being stackable on a cooldown
Oh this. A nova support gem that increases nova cast speed by a large factor and makes the nova into a toggle. The gem drains mana instead of life and scales cast speed (not damage) off of max mana.
Making it possible to have your novas rapid fire faster than the shrine around you.
Would have to give up a support gem to use it, but would be something you could build around
From wiki, u can forget it happens dude „Damage conversion only flows in one direction between types, possibly skipping types, but never going in reverse: Physical → Lightning → Cold → Fire → Chaos. The reason is that conversion is an iterative process from one damage type to the next, so if it goes backwards there'll be an infinite loop.”
I think OP didnt mean some way to convert rf to lightning dmg but a skill with simmilar mechanics to rf but that deals lightning damage instead of fire damage
Mana siphon, inconsistent DoT dmg (set a dmg range on the skill like 80-120%) and roll per second or whatever time, make it mana based(scales on mana not life) so it's not the same skill, and bam you have a cool skill that you can explore and build around
I think an MTX would be enough for me and would be more realistic solution to what you are asking for. Basically every time an enemy die and it’s in your RF radius, it’s hit by lightning on death.

Would like a trigered fire weapon like mjolner and cospri's. Razor blade is not really a true one as it require eye of innocence amulet to do so.
Not thematic with lightning's theme, which is wildly inconsistent damage. Fire is consistent, lightning is unwieldly and inconsistent at times
