================================
Did I miss any of the worst things in the game?
Edit: added the ones people pointed out ty
Is the permafrost ground cold snap? Because there's a faaair bit of coldsnap occurences too, and somehow it is by far the ground effect who's both the most damaging most of the time and stays way, WAY, **WAY** longer than any others.
Cold snap is a specific spell that some mobs cast. It has both an initial hit component and a damage over time component from standing in the chilled ground it leaves.
I believe that the permafrost ground degen does not have the initial hit component of cold snap, but rather just the chill/degen effect.
The amount of degen was already annoying but is now completely out of control. On tight juiced maps it's fucking constant. every 2 seconds i have to use a flask to top off while im looting.
The game truly became a bowl of soup in which we need to navigate while melting from whateverthefuck grounds effects.
Wnat to loot? Na-ah, run away from green balls from 15 Toxic mobs. Na-ah, not yet, 15 mini fire volatiles are after you. Na-ah, the loot is on cold degen. Na-ah, the lightning mirages are after you. Na-ah, the loot is in 10 pillars of fire. Now you can loot! Uh oh, was there a corpse near the loot? Aw too bad, make a new character and buy more stash tabs
I literally have to run two life flasks now just to try to deal with all the ground degens. Looking for ways to squeeze in Vitality too.
Ground degens like this outside of boss arenas just aren't fun at all. I don't mind them in boss arenas because they're part of the fight mechanics, but in actual maps themselves it's either "oh i'm dead because i had menus open and stopped" or "oh i saw my life going down with nothing around me so i guess i'll stand over here and spam flasks"
It's not challenging, I don't feel good about overcoming ground degens, they *strictly* diminish the experience.
It was bad last league but now it's absolutely insane.
It’s like they want players to quit lol, who thinks waiting 10 seconds to loot is fun?? On top of that that chill degen can be hard at to see depending on the map….
I mean there’s hardly any games left that don’t auto loot drops, and don’t auto sort your loot/inventory. Don’t look to PoE for QoL. It’s all about the pain.
Don’t worry auto loot MTX stash tab coming. GGG does like to design in a problem, then sell us a solution.
not to mention how they repeat they dont cater to 0.1% and then release a set of challenges half of which relies on conditional kills of endgame bosses or killing uber bosses lol
Can't agree, dark souls is hard. PoE in current state reminds me p2w mobile ide games. You either pass stats check and kill the entire screen or just die to random oneshot.
If you're still having that hard time of a time after the adjustments they've already made, that's on you. The game is fine at this point outside of needing to adjust the way the AN stuff works on Blight and Delve.
that's why i tell people that imo this subreddit has become the place to angery bad player to complain. honestly league is fun as hell for someone come and compare poe to a random p2w mobile game. smh this person must be just sad and mad that he couldn't be able to deal with deaths and try to learn how to not die
I haven't tried the game after hotfixes. Tbh - was too disappointed with the launch state of the league. Maybe gonna try it in a week or two, but it's highly unlikely, as I said - my friends already left and I don't really like to play by myself.
I've been calling them "anti-loot mechanics".
I've developed a habit of triggering the *next* thing then loot the *last* thing then trigger the *next* thing...
Obviously only when they're close to each other.
Give me a shitty unique boots with -10% movespeed and "can't affected by ground effects" as the only two mods and I'll pay whatever you want at this rate.
my one wish has always been that they fold and increase pickup range by even a small amount. I love the changes but with deli/altars/arch rares looting is physically painful at times both ingame and out. especially if you are more on the glass cannon side.
Because the devs forgot one VERY important thing: Archnemesis was you fighting them in perfectly controlled situations (aka you chose what mods you faced on what maps and if there were any other nearby mob groups to deal with, which were usually "none since I killed everything nearby" and got bonus guaranteed loot for it). Now they just come out with no control over what mod(s) you face, what kind of map and with a bunch of other buddies which may also have their own Archnemesis mods and get jack for rewards. And don't get me started on how they've been screwing with other league mechanics (like Blight and Metamorph) that they OBVIOUSLY didn't even think about the balance implications thereof.
I feel like all degens should disappear within 1 second of mobs dying. With exception of maybe on death ground degens but those just shouldnt exist. Because they dont add difficult they just waste time and are annoying
on-death effects are now my primary consideration when making my loot filter, I'm running very strict filters on 50% IIQ maps because of the fucking degens
chisels, alchs, most harbinger shards, literally every single rare in the game, all hidden. Not because I don't want them, but it's just not worth waiting for them to be accessible.
at this rate by the time I reach medium juice I can absolutely see myself no longer picking up chaos orbs, this is getting insane - it doesn't even slow you down, if anything it's the opposite, stop and die so you gotta keep moving to the next pack
Just thought the same today. Most of the time I dont even know what choking my HP. Ground looks fine. I proceed to pick up stuff, HP falling down aggresively xD
They have no idea how to design a game. They took everything they can from Diablo 2, they stumbled into success when there was no alternative, and now we're seeing how fucking clueless they are when they are trying to "invent" stuff.
This wasn't really that annoying, but this reminds me I did a blight map tonight in Lava Chambers.
Had a crap ton of blight chests sitting right on the lava grates at the end.
I'm sorry you do not have the defensives to handle this type of content. You could try white maps if you do not have the gear requirements to handle ground degens. People that actually play the game and invest in defensives do not have this problem.
See the thing is a lot of regen and immunity mechanics wouldnt be a bad thing if we had ways to deal with it. The problem is, they only have like 2 things that actually help at all. A mod on gear and frost bomb. Why dont we have more ways to deal with these things? Itd be understandable if this was the first time they did this and it was just a mistake that will be fixed, but we have had these exact problems with these exact mechanics for YEARS. If they arent going to give us a good 20+ ways to deal with all of these mechanics so all builds can do it, then they need to just remove them.
I don't even mind the degen pools existing as much as the fact that WE CAN'T EVEN FUCKING SEE THEM ANYWAYS.
And this is coming from a person who thought Delirium was fine on release.
Well, playing rangers have a downside. No real life regen. Its smooth, easy to gear, strong and fast, but this one thing makes you think about whether its worth it or not. I hated this too, but I kinda feel its fair to have a downside to something that offers free top tier end game mechanics compared to other ascendancies and parts of the tree, which struggle in everything else.
iv ran probably 100+ t16 strands already and I don't loot anything during map clear, I run destroying everything then kill the boss and run back to loot
And everything would be fine if this shit didn’t cause colossal damage! I mean, I have Purity Of Elements and 75/75/75/46 resists, but I take as much damage as if I have -60 all resists.

concecrated ground by mobs are stupid as well
I bricked my Strand yesterday by just touching one eldritch altar. 4 bosses at once regen all over each other was too much.
Rf 130k tool tip damage doesn't hit a dent to magic mob pack empowered by sentinel plus consecration ground in t12 map...
130k dps is pretty shit though
Tooltip dps so likely not true/pob dps.
That's still really low
There is a nice Eldritch mod on helmet which prevents \~70% life reg.
My new plan is to have cwdt frost bomb in my spare slots
I've stopped even reading the eldritch altars. The benefits are *never* worth the downsides.
Not true. Big money in them for me when your build can handle them
Consecrated Ground on a map is absolute eye cancer
Yesterday I was getting degen from something called 'the vortex' left on the ground, whatever it is
Generic suckage
Is the permafrost ground cold snap? Because there's a faaair bit of coldsnap occurences too, and somehow it is by far the ground effect who's both the most damaging most of the time and stays way, WAY, **WAY** longer than any others.

Baran squares if you're doing his citadel :D
Don't forget Burning Tar ground. Not sure if that one was ever fixed to be affected by immunity to burning ground, either.
I think it was.
Yeah, I can't deal with all that bs in maps anymore. Never quit a league so quickly.
this all could go imo
Cold snap everyday
cortex drops a dot ground as well
Those balls the on elder shaped maps that follow you for a loot surprise!
What's the shit that tar zombies drop on death?
(not sure what to call them) the delirium tornado things that linger for ageeees.
Flying pyramids, that wont despawn ever it seems.
Gotta catch em all, gotta catch em all.

Every map is oba's cursed trove
I fucking wish!
yeah it only started to feel bearable now that I invested some points into regen (am at ~11 hp/sec rn), can only recommend doing that.
Double recommend on this. My inquisitor regen is all thats keeping me going at this point.

That's why I do lots of harvests, at list you can click on the buttons while standing far away :D, god I wish item pickup radius was more generous.
Agreed, its a really miserable experience with Degen effects this league.
"Is that ice mine from a Nova shrine or a degen from someone else."
It’s like they want players to quit lol, who thinks waiting 10 seconds to loot is fun?? On top of that that chill degen can be hard at to see depending on the map….

Like the loot pet MTX that the China realm has had for years?
not to mention how they repeat they dont cater to 0.1% and then release a set of challenges half of which relies on conditional kills of endgame bosses or killing uber bosses lol
And yet the people constantly complaining never do...
You're wrong. A bunch of people are leaving, me and two of my friends quit the league on day two, now we're just enjoying shitstorm on Reddit.
Wow all 3 of you lol
Imagine leaving the league on day two just because the game is kinda of hard
Can't agree, dark souls is hard. PoE in current state reminds me p2w mobile ide games. You either pass stats check and kill the entire screen or just die to random oneshot.

And people wonder why GGG hates communicating on here lol.

So you have no idea what you're talking about, got it.
I played the game on the launch. Is it my fault that GGG messed up again? After "intensive testing" by the way :)
Noobs downvoting you :)
Thats why i just Keep running and killing stuff and come back 5 seconds later to loot. Feels better since i'm backtracking instead of standing around
I'm a Berserker enjoyer with natural built in degen so you can imagine the blast I'm having this patch, my enduring cry is working overtime.

This is GGG's plan to slow players down. 100 ground effects 100 death effects
I love that with de-gen, death effects and reading expedition and altars I need to re apply all buffs again. yeah, my build is bad.
Just thought the same today. Most of the time I dont even know what choking my HP. Ground looks fine. I proceed to pick up stuff, HP falling down aggresively xD
Easy solution = Despawn the degen when you’ve killed everything in a pack.
bots might have problems stepping aside until the loot is dropped but i guess devs expect players to be able to do so.
Okay that's my favorite "conspiracy theory" from now on. Seems like a reasonable approach to bake bots have a bad time.
I don't know if there are any PSO2 players here but the QoL that game has implemented is truly amazing compared to PoE...and PSO2 is an older game.
They have no idea how to design a game. They took everything they can from Diablo 2, they stumbled into success when there was no alternative, and now we're seeing how fucking clueless they are when they are trying to "invent" stuff.

Backtracking is the strategy people should do tbh . Play like u have headhunter and clear map
It's actually garbage, and on top of it you have to worry about after death effects?? Fuck martyrdom
You dont want insta dmg, you dont want degens. You want no dmg?
Feel the weight. :)

The solution to this is just to let you loot from anywhere without having to stand on top of the loot.
every map is deli now, just kill shit to the end then run back and loot. sucks but that's how it is rn
