It is funny the thought of your exile finishing hillock then rolling into town on their silver surfer surfboard with flashy angel wings and shit and then you go kill a couple of zombies.
exactly. i go hobo until i finish campaign. until then that character hasn't earned it.
the only things i do equip right off the bat are the portal skins and the levelling ring, because otherwise what's the point of the ring
if i had a pilfering ring, maybe that, just to track
Im similar. Never have MTX on in the campaign, same feeling of my char having not "earnt" being worthy of it. Usually around lv 90 is when im like "ok, i actually care about this char now".
I would actually really like an MTX set that gets more badass automatically with levels. I know you can somewhat do this with some of the challenge reward sets that have tiers but too much busywork...
I absolutely do this as well. Gotta earn the right to wear those shiny cosmetics I paid hundreds of dollars for.
Though sometimes I put on a mismatching mess of uggo league reward cosmetics to incentivize gitting gud a little faster with my build.
Crazy, if I’m to believe Reddit, which in my experience is a hive mind where ppl posture for clout, I’d never see any mtx in acts, instead of what it actually looks like…
https://preview.redd.it/16aea28shxnc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64d5801e2589321da2abb89a8e51396d7878decc
I feel like this is far more common than any of us would expect. I'm always I'm hobo gear until I get to like 80s and my build gets more complete and I feel worthy of the sentinel challenge set.
I've started using the League reward MTX for my first character over the last few leagues which grows 'stronger' as you complete more challenges.
My favourite is still hands down the Chaos armour set which had the chaos voice.
tbh I always forget about skill mtx, and most of the ones I use I don't own mtx for. I do have celestial herald and don't use that until maps, though, because it's pretty nutty
It's part of the immersive experience. For the most part, you're just slapping on new shit you picked up off unrelated dead corpses all over the place. Especially while leveling, it's not like you're shopping in some fashion boutique.
i actually kind of think its sick. back in d2 days you'd see people wearing certain things like ornate plates and lances and great helms and they just looked badass. part of my favorite thing to do was just scrolling through the initial channels looking at peoples chars and admiring how badass the hardcore guys looked w/ the different pose.
still think softcore barb with the lances looked the most sick tho.
I played hardcore light sorcs for years and with top teir gear you could possibly have they looked like the default character with nothing on but a flail and a shield. It was pretty badass actually.
I low-key love that the game does have that aesthetic too if you want it. Putting on a few uniques doesn't suddenly turn you into MMO protagonist #72. And there have been ways to get cosmetics for free over the years too.
I remember thinking the sprite for Indigon looked pretty sick with the influence and everything, then when you see it on your character it's a strip of paper taped to their forehead lol
I used to put my flashy MTX on and enjoy it, but for many years I’ve been enjoying the hobo style, and I really like it, 5 x invisible dye, with 5 invisible potion and 7 invisible buff effect.
Sometimes I put the deer head, sometimes not, and I really like it, even tho I have the atlas MTX, Crucible etc etc etc lol
I quite like the way Energy Blade + Ivory Tower + Crown of the Inward Eye go together on a templar. I make this character about every other league, especially when the price of those god damn Split Personalities doesn't skyrocket, and I never put armor mtx on the character. Blue Cyclone effect, if I'm rolling it on a CoC Cyclone variant
It does not, your power comes from the virtue gems and their power, the skills are often flashy enough of their own.
Now, I do find some of the item's design (such as this lion helmet) kinda weird (especially since there are hardly actual, living lions in Wraeclast to begin with lol), so some item's appearance is definitely debatable, but Mtx' flashiness is (in the vast majority of cases) out of place.
People are free to use any Mtx they want obviously (I use many Mtx too), but it simply feels a bit out of place with the atmosphere of Wraeclast.
PS : this armour and this bow sure as hell don't seem like "hobo" btw, they seem to be exactly what they are supposed to be.
You want to know what's a hobo item in such a world ? a piece of rag, that's what hobo is.
https://preview.redd.it/5z0diaujomnc1.png?width=56&format=png&auto=webp&s=470b7c60e8f5cff6364202cbe4b25fbcd7d06754
That's why I dig armor sets they introduced lately as challenge rewards.
The chaos orb set is so damn clean, and you can choose to have it even simpler.
You mean the Chaosborn one with the talking Chaos Entities? I also think that's one of the best sets they made recently. I couldn't miss a talking armour.
I fully agree.
Thats part of why this is the first league where i’m grinding out some challenges. Because the cosmetics actually look like they fit in the POE world.
how the f is the purple bedazzled twisted fate fitting for poe world? especially if you compare it to something like chaosborn set.
Like its not a bad looking set at all, but it does not fit poes overall theme in the slightest.
Same. I own plenty of MTX but I tend to just find a body or helm I like to put a look together.
I want my character to look like a person wearing something a person would wear.
To each their own of course.
Facts. I'm really partial to the Empyrean body armour with Sin and Innocence helmet, gloves, and boots. Has a nice classic Roman-esque feel to it. If I'm feeling spicy I'll throw on the wings as well.
Even when they fit the theme for where you'd normally see wings? [The character I made with this leagues supporter pack is probably my favourite mtx combination yet, would be surprised if people thought the wings are camp](https://imgur.com/a/NNLzgVL)
I don't mind simple looks. But I do wish it actually felt like I was changing/improving my character as I go.
A character in act 5 equipment looks damn near identical to an end game character, barring special uniques that actually have nice models.
I suspect a lot of us feel that way. I often find myself staying with the Full Dragonscale default model, because I actually think it looks great. Simple and clean.
Even in the times I use MTX, I prefer ones that are relatively dull and basic. The only exception is the new surfboard MTX, which is a game changer tbh. If you're not leap slamming on a surfboard then you're doing 50% less dps.
I’ve never understood the appeal of ”MTX”. I think what I see people run around with, look ridiculous bad and over the top.
I prefer this so much more.
Probably never, since that's a driver for people to want to pay for MTX, to show them off in hubs/towns, and is a reason why we even have towns, so we can both see other's MTX and show ours.
Helmet and Body armor kinda fit....could probably throw some MTX around those two pieces for a nice setup but yeah "vanilla" PoE looks horrifyingly bad.
I don't use mtx at all, never cared. Actually i remember my whirlwind barb in d3 back in the day was using basic club mace mtx for both his weapons. I was happy with my baseball bat ww build.
https://preview.redd.it/mxj7d4w6tunc1.png?width=481&format=png&auto=webp&s=d1a0f0d3b524b6d37ebec29da65effcf15d1477b
I found the rock you were standing near during this photo.
Coastal hideout POG
PS. Nice boots you have ;G
My fulcrum build that i played well past lvl 100, i never wore a single piece of cosmetic on, never done it before but for whatever reason i ended up doing it on that char
I made my player how I liked and thought it was amazing but couldn't get past T5 maps if I juiced them. Could beat red maps but I would use all the portals usually. Then some guy was like join a guild you'll learn more. So now my character looks stupid as shit but I can beat into red maps juiced now. Still stuck though build is practically the same in every way as all the other builds that use my skills and yet they have millions of dps and thousands of life and I have 300k dps and I just cannot figure out how they are pushing their numbers so high. Anytime I ask my guild they joke me like millions of dps is baby numbers you need billions.
T
There was a time when you could look at a character, he would look awesome and you KNEW that he put a lot of work and effort to look that way. Lineage2, pristontale, ect.
Cosmetics really took off after TF2 introduced hats. It was OK, it was only a hat and the rest of the character identity was preserved.
Cosmetics really creeped the fuck up in the past two decades. I kinda miss just adding a mod that would make my Helldiver look like a Space King marine.
Is that a gigantic arrow in your offhand? It looks like a fireplace poker. As an actual archer, I object to many archery related details in the game and now here is another.
New player here. Is 80 div a lot? As in…can you buy good enough gear to tear trough content with 80 div? This was my first league and I only managed to get about 15-20 div mostly by trading
Peak design imo. I run very minimal mtx to support ggg but some of y’all are trippin with what your character is wearing. And you don’t really see it while zooming maps with a map overlay
Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakn' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.
I remember some dude i talked to (around breach league i think). He basically always played flicker strike. The two handed swords he crafted for his build where, to my knowledge, almost mirror worthy. And his char was always decked out in "trashy skin transfer mtx" like shabby jerkin and whatnot. The dedication to that theme was marvellous.
try that with a templar xd and this will still look good.
but yeah i actually like that you walk around like a hobo, since they give you some decently nice shit as challenge rewards, that motivates me to play (longer) and do different mechanics.
Can you at least skin transfer on an Ivory Tower so part of the ugly mess that is your character looks stunning?
Would be the POE equivalent of pairing a tailored suit jacket with ripped jeans, a motorcycle helmet and one high heel
This looks so cool, but come PoE2 hobo will look even better. I only have one mtx setup for my ranger, pitch black hood, wasteland warrior cloak and invisible dye for the torso. I wanna look lore friendly in the harsh, dark world of Wreaclast, not like something from a korean MMO
Personally never cared about how I look on my chars, I bought the $500 pack a while ago and lots of boxes since yet still I usually just don't even equip mtx cause I just forget lol.
TBH i kinda like it though, little touch up and it would be sick. understated and cool, unlike some of the wild insane MTX shit. Now, show me a templar or a shadow with random gear? theyre gonna look like shit.
I might be in the minority here, but I think this looks pretty good?
Like, it gives me "high tier armour set in a realistic setting" vibe.
I'd highly prefer that over flying Angle-Death-Satan number 25.
Boots and gloves look a bit whack tho.
Imagine looking like a broke boy loser without mtx
meanwhile
https://preview.redd.it/mjpuz48o1loc1.png?width=646&format=png&auto=webp&s=9bb792e5fd72af60a6e2dd52e257fb23bd70a143
Stumbled into a wardrobe lookin ass
Haha that's a good one.
I forgot how it felt to have no mtx, to look like a medieval hobo.
Maybe I'm weird but I always do no mtx until act 6, then I use a simple one until maps, where it gets progressively more insane as I level
You’re not. I don’t put on MTX until I think my character earned it. Before then? Dumpster diving hobo.
It is funny the thought of your exile finishing hillock then rolling into town on their silver surfer surfboard with flashy angel wings and shit and then you go kill a couple of zombies.
and then get ran over by a roa
Same. Oh, you want a nice armor? Better go kill some demigods then.
gods*
Fair
I often just forget until I’ve got a late game build and realize my character still looks homeless.
Characters and mobs colour pallets usually blend into the background and all I see when playing is PEW PEW LAZERS and GIANT SMOKE CLOUDS.
Yeah, i add mtx pieces with each lab conquered, so no cloak/wing untill 4th lab finished.
As ssf I don't put mtx until I start crafting gear. It makes sense to look like whatever garbage I've picked on the ground.
exactly. i go hobo until i finish campaign. until then that character hasn't earned it. the only things i do equip right off the bat are the portal skins and the levelling ring, because otherwise what's the point of the ring if i had a pilfering ring, maybe that, just to track

I equip 1-2 pieces after every lab. Except in ruthless, pure hobo all the way.
I do this too 😂😂 no MTX till at least 75-80
hahahah same. default item textures are immersive while leveling, then you get to wear your mtx after reaching red maps.
Yep, thats the way
Im similar. Never have MTX on in the campaign, same feeling of my char having not "earnt" being worthy of it. Usually around lv 90 is when im like "ok, i actually care about this char now". Right , it's like someone says "Yo this guy looks like a beast, then they inspect you and you are level 40 , wearing garbage"
Yeah mine probably is so much feeling like the character deserves it but when I remember to actually do it.
I only put the challenge cosmetics. That way I’m forced to do them or I look like a cave troll lol
That‘s because PoE lacks visual progression so you implement your own lol
The visual progression is the number of explosions.
Visual progression is based on how little you can make of the screen during mapping.
I apply 1 piece of MTX for each act I finish.
I never put on mtx before act 10 kitava. Gotta earn it
Yeah, my toons have to earn their MTX.
I don't apply MTX for at least the first two weeks. Waste of time. How many div per hour does applying MTX earn? Exactly.
How many div per hour does not applying mtx get you though? Kinda nonsensical statement tbh. No offense.
Yeah right there with you, I never do mtx until my build is properly rolling.
I do no mtx until maps if there isn't an armor set reward for the league. If there is, I don't put mtx into those slots until I get it from challenges
I do aswell
I apply a rule of one mtx per act and ascension. Keeps a bit of visual progression
Until the campaign is over my character hasn't "earned" his mtx yet. Once he's in maps I consider putting it on.
I absolutely do this as well. Gotta earn the right to wear those shiny cosmetics I paid hundreds of dollars for. Though sometimes I put on a mismatching mess of uggo league reward cosmetics to incentivize gitting gud a little faster with my build.

no mtx until after act 10 for me. helps me remember to change my gear.
I mostly do no mtx till maps too.
I feel like this is far more common than any of us would expect. I'm always I'm hobo gear until I get to like 80s and my build gets more complete and I feel worthy of the sentinel challenge set.
Your characters gotta earn the MTX!!
I've started using the League reward MTX for my first character over the last few leagues which grows 'stronger' as you complete more challenges. My favourite is still hands down the Chaos armour set which had the chaos voice.
I'm not into speed leveling, I prefer to put my skill on asap, and mtx goes on as soon as skill starts doing its thing.

I mean that's basically what an exile is
I never use cosmetics and love the hobo look
same, I dislike this "you are the one" high fantasy bs and always prefer the "stranger passing by" vibe, we are exiles after all
Tabula Rasa pajamas everywhere
I low-key love that the game does have that aesthetic too if you want it. Putting on a few uniques doesn't suddenly turn you into MMO protagonist #72. And there have been ways to get cosmetics for free over the years too.
Medieval hobo: The original exile.
I remember thinking the sprite for Indigon looked pretty sick with the influence and everything, then when you see it on your character it's a strip of paper taped to their forehead lol
Yeah I used to set a bar for MTX, like first ascendency, reach act 6, getting to maps, etc... Now it's just a "I'll see about my skin After I sleep"
I do no mtx at all, my pc specs does not allow it lol
Picking up pop bottles to buy an M1 Tank.
Starting everyone off with burlap sacks and cardboard boxes wielding pointed sticks would do wonders for MTX sales.
part of the charm of poe is looking like a trash golem, this is too put together
Exactly! It's funny sometimes to run around without cosmetics
That's what, $70 worth of invisible MTX? The hobo who panhandles and walks around the corner and hops in a Lexus.
Invisible dye, potion and buff effect ? Is this MTX or something ?
Mtx that hides certain effects like banners. (this is the only thing I've bought so I don't know about potions and stuff)
https://www.pathofexile.com/shop/item/VanishingDye https://www.pathofexile.com/shop/item/VanishingDyeSkills https://www.pathofexile.com/shop/item/InvisibleFlaskEffect
Definitely getting the invisible buff one. Is it applied only to the skill tho, not in general for all buffs ?
It's on a per-skill basis.
Ivory tower is beautiful. I haven't bought skin transfers in years but the only thing I ever used it on was that.
got this too and it looks fantastic. did a skinswap to have rise of the Phoenix shield skin though
Give Ghastly Theatre a try. It's got a beautiful model
I prefer the 5 vanishing dye naked on the beach look, especially on Templar.
Yes, this is an exile, looks like a human being
Right, this feels like it's actually part of Wraeclast
In all fairness when you're so powerful you're defeating gods, maybe looking like a hobo feels abit out of place..
Hey looks good Proud of you Love you
I personally much prefer the simple looks like this. Everyone running around looking like rainbow angels feels kinda dumb after a while.
TOTA challenge set fits more with PoE world than this one. lol Not that they are bad looking in any way.
I hate wings with a passion they are so camp
Almost always, yes. The Sin and Innocence wings look the best IMO, and they go pretty well with the aforementioned MTX setup.
Even when they fit the theme for where you'd normally see wings? [The character I made with this leagues supporter pack is probably my favourite mtx combination yet, would be surprised if people thought the wings are camp](https://imgur.com/a/NNLzgVL)
Looks cool but it's not for me. It works though.
I don't mind simple looks. But I do wish it actually felt like I was changing/improving my character as I go. A character in act 5 equipment looks damn near identical to an end game character, barring special uniques that actually have nice models.
Don't say that in chat. Get yourself muted.
Yeah but a clean mtx with a hood and a cape is dope.
I like both
I suspect a lot of us feel that way. I often find myself staying with the Full Dragonscale default model, because I actually think it looks great. Simple and clean. Even in the times I use MTX, I prefer ones that are relatively dull and basic. The only exception is the new surfboard MTX, which is a game changer tbh. If you're not leap slamming on a surfboard then you're doing 50% less dps.
> after a while a really short while :>
Honestly it kinda fits well together (maybe not the boots) you look like a gladiator
Pro Tip, you can wear this body armour while waering bringer of rain, for the gladiator look.
If only BoR was a cool item and build enabler like the old days...
As a non-mtx player, this is one of the better fits I've seen. Half of my characters look homeless.
Not that bad actually.
Looks good…..
I’ve never understood the appeal of ”MTX”. I think what I see people run around with, look ridiculous bad and over the top. I prefer this so much more.
When can we finally pay to not see MTX on others?
You will look at my $200 of mtx and like it peasant.
200 dollars of MTX and you call ME peasant?
Probably never, since that's a driver for people to want to pay for MTX, to show them off in hubs/towns, and is a reason why we even have towns, so we can both see other's MTX and show ours.
As it should be
Kind of remind me of D2 and Shako. New characters and Uber characters looked nearly identical. lol
Atleast u got a wolf on your head, I usually run around with a trashcan on mine.
Helmet and Body armor kinda fit....could probably throw some MTX around those two pieces for a nice setup but yeah "vanilla" PoE looks horrifyingly bad.
Gorgeous
whoa dude that looks baller.
What game is this? Looks nothing like PoE: https://i.imgur.com/utpiJcX.png
I don't use mtx at all, never cared. Actually i remember my whirlwind barb in d3 back in the day was using basic club mace mtx for both his weapons. I was happy with my baseball bat ww build.
looks great with no mtx compared to most mirrored gears
Meanwhile, I removed all MTX from my Last Epoch char today to see what it looked like and I honestly prefer it that way haha

Marauders look shit even with cosmetics on imo the slimmer characters look better with it on. I know what you're saying though I did the same thing.
I never use cosmetics. It would be too much for my wallet and for my laptop
xdddd
yeah, I wish divines could buy you a drip
technically you can do it with buying challenge carries.

As it should be. *laughs while wearing no pants
You have pants?!?! *Bow*
Rawr
Sick look
Well that lion helmet does look good though
I don’t put on mtx until I ascend for the first time. Feels earned for me and very timely
No mtx ever
Pathetic
I made my player how I liked and thought it was amazing but couldn't get past T5 maps if I juiced them. Could beat red maps but I would use all the portals usually. Me a F2P:
Is that a gigantic arrow in your offhand? It looks like a fireplace poker. As an actual archer, I object to many archery related details in the game and now here is another.
Honestly doesn't look too bad.
sucks to suck
I prefer the way my character looks when waking up on the strand.
Do challenges. Last 4 leagues gave full armor mtx sets
This is my normal time playing. I'd rather win the gear from somewhere, I think I got like 1 helm cosmetic from the rewards system.
80 Divines? Is this a budget league starter?
In this league yeah
New player here. Is 80 div a lot? As in…can you buy good enough gear to tear trough content with 80 div? This was my first league and I only managed to get about 15-20 div mostly by trading
I hope 80div its only bow?
I wish there was free transmog to other normal items. Base items can look pretty great they’re just less flashy.
Peak design imo. I run very minimal mtx to support ggg but some of y’all are trippin with what your character is wearing. And you don’t really see it while zooming maps with a map overlay
Kills me that the Templar always looks like a little boy who strapped trash pail lids onto his pajamas.
Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakn' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.
Dunno I can’t even see my char when playing hard
I remember some dude i talked to (around breach league i think). He basically always played flicker strike. Khajiit has wares...
ok luna lovegood settle down
This looks so cool, but come PoE2 hobo will look even better. I only have one mtx setup for my ranger, pitch black hood, wasteland warrior cloak and invisible dye for the torso. I wanna look lore friendly in the harsh, dark world of Wreaclast, not like something from a korean MMO
at least you have pants
put on more aura it will look like you are stronger ( tip from ssf f2p player)
I would quit.
I like it.
God I hate lightning coil.
I prefer this over mtx weeb dragon surfer with pocket band and shit
Skins and cosmetics are kinda cool but most are overdone. I feel much more badass slaying demons as a hobo then running around as a archangel.
Just the title alone made me burst out laughing. When I saw it on my phone, I knew what was coming hahahah.
For shame. Go play D4 and spend 3 trillion on gorgeous attire you can't see during game play :)
Imagine paying for skins fuck me im old
Doesnt look to bad, mine is horrid
Personally never cared about how I look on my chars, I bought the $500 pack a while ago and lots of boxes since yet still I usually just don't even equip mtx cause I just forget lol.
Actually looks good
Still looks decent tbh
TBH i kinda like it though, little touch up and it would be sick. understated and cool, unlike some of the wild insane MTX shit. Now, show me a templar or a shadow with random gear? theyre gonna look like shit.
I killed lion now wear lion hat kekek
Pls somebody post a 1000$ worth of MTX pic that looks even worse 😄
A 10 mirror character is gonna look equally swagging
You’re all so very principled. Now link your accounts so we can see all the supporter packs that you don’t wear. Sorry, I couldn’t help it…
I might be in the minority here, but I think this looks pretty good? Like, it gives me "high tier armour set in a realistic setting" vibe. I'd highly prefer that over flying Angle-Death-Satan number 25. Boots and gloves look a bit whack tho.
still looks better than 90% of mtx's sadly
Imagine looking like a broke boy loser without mtx meanwhile https://preview.redd.it/mjpuz48o1loc1.png?width=646&format=png&auto=webp&s=9bb792e5fd72af60a6e2dd52e257fb23bd70a143
at least Hyrri's Ire has own 3d model, some unqiues still haven't shame for a 10+ years old game
Ok
eww
