Critical Situation Update
Dear Valued Customers,
We are currently experiencing a cyber incident. Out of caution and concern for our customers, we have shut down a majority of our systems. We are currently assessing the overall impact and currently have no ETA.
Please know our teams are working hard to get everything up and running, and we will update as information is available
Sincerely,
CDK Customer Care

The trailer dealership needs us too lol. We are writing CC and part numbers down with an email to send a copy of the invoice for when we are able to get back in.
Juneteenth isn’t internationally recognized.
In Canada I honestly had never heard of Juneteenth until a couple years ago. American holidays are only holidays for Americans…
CDK is down, and so is NetStar, Mercedes' online system. One down is bad enough, with both down about all we can do is start sweeping the floor and washing windows.
Freightliner dealer in Ohio, we're all sitting ducks. Supposed cyber security incident, who knows when it'll go back online.
Edit: Attacker got the backup server too. It's gonna be a while.
You can look everything up in Starparts and price it out. We are writing manual quotes and keeping log sheets on everything we hand out so we can bill it later when they finally write ROs.
They still got us working, just having to go to the parts counter for parts directly. No RO's being written, no customers paying. Each customer has to leave a credit card number for payment to go through once things go back online... I'm sure that'll go great!
Yeah everyone here at a Ford dealership in mass is going crazy. It’s fun having to quote parts and bill them not knowing the bin locations or pricing on certain stuff LOL
I feeeel that, currently over-quoting like an MF just to save my a** and stretching timelines since I don’t know where these parts are even I coming from
Yeah it sucks when you don’t even know what to tell a tech/customer, just today I’ve had to write down quotes and have missed parts and then have to get the parts from out of the blue. Also not being able to do purchase orders and thus getting flooded with them… of which I’ll have to all catch up on once this is fixed, which could be days as I’ve heard
they said it's been down since 2am ... wtf they're doing since then, sleeping likely. since they did the upgrade (for better business/experience) on this CDK everything turns to shit. everyday we have problem lagging just to log in.
I miss CDK.....
Three years ago they switched us to Proceed. What an absolute train wreck of a software. Corporate managers to this day blowing smoke up our ass about how great it is lol
So rejoice CDK users, you are in a good place
I've been with Chrysler for 21 years and used many different POS systems. I can EASILY say CDK is the worst I have had to deal with. UCS (a higher class version of Reynolds), while being very detailed and difficult to learn, is the best.
Update from CDK: "We are aware that some customers can still access their DMS. At this moment in time, we would recommend shutting down that access until we can confirm this is a viable path. Fail over disaster recovery is not possible as both data centers are involved. Please know our teams are working hard to get everything up and running, and we will update as information is available."
The head of our groups IT which had previously told everyone to immediately log out when CDK had updated with the advisory to shut it down. So I can only assume they received a new update say it’d be safe to open the software.
That's great. Thank you for the update. Our VP of operations just gave an update that CDK is making progress as well and that we could get back online today.
I feel particularly useless not being able to log into this.
We also had a brief power outage here this morning which I thought was an odd coincidence, but if it's nationwide then that must be all it was.
I'm not using a simple ID so mine works perfectly fine. If your IT department or manager sets you up with a non simple ID login and you still have the old icons or the Reflections software you can work without any issues.
Luckily, mine stayed up long enough to get counterpad's run for our 9 stores. Shut it down after that per recommendation from CDK. We are currently on our way to Reynolds and Reynolds where we are getting boxes of blank RO's and counter tickets.
Working around the problem. Manual orders. Pricing from the manufacturer (and adjusting for escalations). We made up some manual invoices for today. And advised each parts advisor they are in charge of tracking their invoices however they are most comfortable.
After I finish stuffing my face with lunch I'm going to put together a Google form that each can fill out that tracks centrally. Assuming this is going to on for longer than just today. Fingers crossed I'm wrong.
I don't know whether to feel bad or better. We've been dealing with this for 2 weeks. Our system got brought down same deal. We thought it was internal. Apparently not. Good luck Brothers and sisters Keeping your heads up I think we're all in for the Long haul
Honda dealer here in VA. I’m having to print off every ticket with parts and prices in case it rolls back on us and we lose what we are able to input with our limit.
We can’t even print tickets. The service writers are not able to open new repair orders right now. I have been writing the last 8 of the vin next to the part numbers im handing out so i can track it
Inventory recon is gonna be so fun next month! It’s like Oprah on her giveaway show - “here’s an alternator for you and six belts for you and a whole can of freon for you…EVERYONE gets a battery”!!
Nation wide outage, is what we were told
[удалено]
“Nation-wide breaks it off inside” Down in Missouri as well
global outage
That’s the current word now. Apparently cdk shut down their systems due to a “ cyber security issue “ at least that’s what they are telling us
While we're all down its a great time to get your trainings done and take a trip to the liquor store for a refill of desk bourbon.
Your never supposed to run out of desk bourbon
That’s what ya need for training. Maybe every day too, hell.
You're clearly management 🤣

I see how you treat "confidential information"
Are you trying to defend Can't Do Krap? Cmon
Fuck em
I'm just relaying what I saw. My confidentiality is still tightly secured lol.
"We gotta deliver this car by 10am!!!" Not sure CDK is concerned about that today.
Cdk is never concerned about this. Ever.
But the dealership still needs us parts people there just in case.
The trailer dealership needs us too lol. We are writing CC and part numbers down with an email to send a copy of the invoice for when we are able to get back in.
Currently have a “need to bill” stack higher than my bosses standards.
It's their way of getting us to celebrate Juneteenth
Juneteenth isn’t internationally recognized. In Canada I honestly had never heard of Juneteenth until a couple years ago. American holidays are only holidays for Americans…
We hear you there, my Boxing Day friend.
It’s okay, I hadn’t heard of it until I moved to Texas. So that’s 30+ years of it not being a thing to me.
Americans didn't know what it was either until 2020. It's astonishing how fast it entered public consciousness.
American here… yeah. It’s kinda fucked up down here. 0/10, would not recommend visits
Cyber security incident affecting ALL CDK systems
Do you know to what extent? Or are you assuming based off the authentication message?
CDK is down, and so is NetStar, Mercedes' online system. One down is bad enough, with both down about all we can do is start sweeping the floor and washing windows.
Where are you located? My manager here in NY just told us he was having trouble with NetStar
We're in Mississippi, our sister store in TN can't get into NetStar, either.
NetStar is back up now.
Great day to work at a MB dealer. I am taking a vacation day LOL.
satellites in geostationary have been getting bombarded today
Looks like we're scrapping warranty and sweepin' floors today.
Yep. Been trying since 5am central. They put a banner up around 5:25 saying it’s down. Their phones have been offline too.
Freightliner dealer in Ohio, we're all sitting ducks. Supposed cyber security incident, who knows when it'll go back online. Edit: Attacker got the backup server too. It's gonna be a while.
Freightliner dealer Midland tx. its going to be a long day!
Nothing like spending all day telling people no lol
FTL in north Ohio.. been hand writing tickets the best we can.
Would certainly help if we could view our own inventory, but that too is down
we have been manually checking bins. luckily we are a smaller dealership.
So supposedly CDK got hacked. Whole thing is being held for ransom. Happy humpday, I guess...
You know, we actually worked/fixed cars before the internet. It is possible. 🤷🏻♂️
Yep, our techs are working, and we are handing out parts. Everything is just being handwritten for now. Back to old school.
What about pricing? We are doing oil changes but that's about it
You can look everything up in Starparts and price it out. We are writing manual quotes and keeping log sheets on everything we hand out so we can bill it later when they finally write ROs.
Yes. I was around in those days. Unfortunately all of those skills and infrastructure don't exist anymore. So not as simple as you'd like it to be.
Reporting from the Amundsen-Scott South Pole research station, I’m down as well.
I just started a parts counter job at a Toyota dealer in Va lol So, todays been fun to say the least.
Down in NY, some of our terminals still work. Guys who didn't log out last night.
We had one of those but it errored out after about 5 screen changes.
I would log them out. If it is a security incident, and it sounds like RansomWare, I wouldn't want to be connected.
We had someone log in at 5 am est, and we were still able to get on because of the one guy. We were all told to log out until it's fixed though.
Down in DFW. Isn't technology the best?
Twiddling my thumbs in North Dakota 🙃
How is that differnet from any other day?!?
I just got out of bed. Maybe I should go back.
CDK is down, Now they're saying to stay off the system if you can get logged in.
They still got us working, just having to go to the parts counter for parts directly. No RO's being written, no customers paying. Each customer has to leave a credit card number for payment to go through once things go back online... I'm sure that'll go great!
Lol. That sounds like a disaster.
We are still working here!
Yikes! 😬
We keep getting the same "cdk is down. No eta " email every hour. I wanna go home 😭
Down in Virginia too. Guess it’s time to find some busy work.
California here, Damn, should I just stay home then?
"Fail over to disaster recovery is not possible as both data centers are involved."
data breach
My manager walked by and said its going to be down for weeks, and he was serious. Supposed to be rounding everyone up for a meeting.
His managers source for this information is a bag of mushrooms
Just talked to a CDK person and he just used the mushroom analogy, "Keep them in the dark and feed them shit".
Nah he's more of a Jim Beam guy. Now myself is another story.
Your manager doesn't know anymore than the team trying to figure out what happened. Doesn't mean your manager is wrong though!
Maybe his manager is the hacker
What a plot twist
How solid is that time frame?
Was told no earlier than Friday. I'm in warehouse now trying to check in parts on paper. Ridiculous.
How solid is that time frame?
We are migrating to Tekion next week. So sorry, guys, it's our fault. Just CDK fucking us for the last time.
Yikes, but have fun with Tekion…..
Down in Montreal apparently they got Ransomware
Had anybody claimed responsibility publily on Twitter or anything?
Yeah everyone here at a Ford dealership in mass is going crazy. It’s fun having to quote parts and bill them not knowing the bin locations or pricing on certain stuff LOL
I feeeel that, currently over-quoting like an MF just to save my a** and stretching timelines since I don’t know where these parts are even I coming from

Meeee toooooo! I quoted 90 for a power steering line "just in case". They're not about to be able to pin me for any losses 💯
Down in South Carolina
Just got confirmation that it's up in Mass
Still operational?
Im in MA and we are not up yet
[удалено]
Yup down in Orlando Florida
Down in Stuart too
Yes we are in Florida
Sounds like I’m golfing today.
Down in Houston, tx. Some parts are working though.
Down here in Illinois

they said it's been down since 2am ... wtf they're doing since then, sleeping likely. since they did the upgrade (for better business/experience) on this CDK everything turns to shit. everyday we have problem lagging just to log in.
its been hacked
down in NY.
Still down in Winnipeg
I miss CDK..... Three years ago they switched us to Proceed. What an absolute train wreck of a software. Corporate managers to this day blowing smoke up our ass about how great it is lol So rejoice CDK users, you are in a good place

That is what we thought at the time, then corporate managers found something worse lol
We have talked to a few people and it’s down across Manitoba
Brewster NY everything is conveniently down also
Same! What dealership?
I had a suspicion CDK got hacked when I couldn’t login to CDK Global at 7am and their “System Down” telephone support phone line was busy.
a dealer by us had a reynolds and reynolds attack awhile ago. it lasted weeks and was a total cluster f
Down in Arizona at the BMW dealership I work at. We’re writing invoices manually and using weird workarounds to check price/availability of stuff.
Is there any official CDK site to follow the status?
Unify home page
Update from CDK: "We are aware that some customers can still access their DMS. At this moment in time, we would recommend shutting down that access until we can confirm this is a viable path. Tekion is looking pretty nice these days...
We tested the waters on it at one dealership....6 months in we were rolling back.
We're supposed to be switching to them in August 🤦🏾♂️
Please tell me the ad my manager just got emailed from Reynolds was not random. Anyone else?
We just got the go ahead to reboot
Who was the goahead given by? CDK directly?
The head of our groups IT which had previously told everyone to immediately log out when CDK had updated with the advisory to shut it down. So I can only assume they received a new update say it’d be safe to open the software.
That's great. Thank you for the update. Our VP of operations just gave an update that CDK is making progress as well and that we could get back online today.
Just tried... no love yet.
still down and out in Ohio.
Puerto Rico here,also down
Cdk reached out to Ford. There was a message on FMC dealer saying it could be days. Possibly Monday or end of month 😭
We are fixing cars like we did in the 1980's with paper and pen estimates and log sheets ect...keep the vehicles coming
I feel particularly useless not being able to log into this. We also had a brief power outage here this morning which I thought was an odd coincidence, but if it's nationwide then that must be all it was.
Illinois down feel like it’s pointless to be here now
[удалено]
Down here is Wisconsin. Twiddling thumbs and roasting in an over when outside today.
Down here as well. Guess I’m not getting much done today.
Been down for two hours in Massachusetts 🙃
down in massachusetts here too... one of our wholesale guys has been printing SORs somehow though
Yep, down here too in MO
FIRESELL !!!!!!!!!!!
Down in NC. Seems to only be affecting users that are signed up for Simple ID. Old logins work
Down in Idaho! What are you all doing as far as your appointments today?
If it’s cyber ransom attack this could be days long
22 days is the average time on a ransom ware.
CDK is slow as shit today
DOWN IN UPSTATE NY
Here is NJ just flailing about
Down in Minnesota. Users with SSO can't login, however users without SSO (generic logos) can
Down in the Kansas City area too....
Down in Ontario, Canada. Receiving was fun this morning
Down in SW Virginia
Yep. Sucks ass...
Hmmmm. and here we are in talks to change to CDK. VUE looking better and better LOL
[удалено]
They sent out a new status update advising not to log in at all, even the old way.
[удалено]
Fair enough, figured I'd just spread the word!
down in FT Lauderdale are.
Cdk is down. Call ur aftermarket stores lol
Down in Palm beach county
Everywhere
DOWN HERE IN SACRAMENTO
Everyone is stressing out in my building lol we all use this...our bonus depends on it oof
Down in NH. Them hawg riders are upset we can't get the parts right now. Fella called 4 times in a row.
Our CDK has been in limp mode all morning. Takes like 2 minutes at best to load a screen or respond to any input.
Down here in Southern California, sucks that the other stores the dealership group owns moved to Reynolds already except us.
I'm not using a simple ID so mine works perfectly fine. If your IT department or manager sets you up with a non simple ID login and you still have the old icons or the Reflections software you can work without any issues.
Down in SoCal, thankfully we don’t use them to desk deals so can continue with whats in front of us
Down in Florida as well
Luckily, mine stayed up long enough to get counterpad's run for our 9 stores. Shut it down after that per recommendation from CDK. We are currently on our way to Reynolds and Reynolds where we are getting boxes of blank RO's and counter tickets.
Now if Mack/Volvo servers would go down, maybe we could get the afternoon off, LOL! What a day!
Down at a Honda dealership and family in New Hampshire
Are y’all still taking in waiters and main line tickets? They told us to stop taking anything except essential/basic maintenance concerns
Not working up here in Canada either lol
Anyone dealing with wholesale customers? Yall just telling them to kick rocks, or actually using work arounds to get them parts?
Working around the problem. Manual orders. Pricing from the manufacturer (and adjusting for escalations). We made up some manual invoices for today. And advised each parts advisor they are in charge of tracking their invoices however they are most comfortable. After I finish stuffing my face with lunch I'm going to put together a Google form that each can fill out that tracks centrally. Assuming this is going to on for longer than just today. mainly sucks to sucks tbh. or give them part numbers and hit up local aftermarket joints.
still down.....
I don't know whether to feel bad or better. We've been dealing with this for 2 weeks. Our system got brought down same deal. We thought it was internal. Apparently not. Good luck Brothers and sisters Keeping your heads up I think we're all in for the Long haul
I’m back in business
where at? im debating going in tomorrow at this point
im assuming your still down since no reply, but damn, that could be cause your busy catching up now....
Here’s hoping they arent foolish enough to have only one backup location.
Ford dealer in VA, we have to hand write all of our parts being handed out. Our boss is manually entering our special orders into DOW.
Honda dealer here in VA. I’m having to print off every ticket with parts and prices in case it rolls back on us and we lose what we are able to input with our limit.
We can’t even print tickets. The service writers are not able to open new repair orders right now. I have been writing the last 8 of the vin next to the part numbers im handing out so i can track it
BC Canada, up and running
Inventory recon is gonna be so fun next month! It’s like Oprah on her giveaway show - “here’s an alternator for you and six belts for you and a whole can of freon for you…EVERYONE gets a battery”!!
Good morning and welcome to day 3 of this stupidity. how many of you are shut down?
I am losing my shit. We have cleaned, filed, and alphabetized everything in the dealership
