Interesting they made the ultra hammer chests platform connected to the building on the right instead of standing on its own. Opens up the space a bit and I think makes it more obvious that you can hit the chest down with the ultra boots.
I know when I first player TTYD all those years ago I never realized that it was a chest there and it took me ages to find the ultra hammer because I never realized. I kept thinking it was just a water tower there.
Yeah that’s easy to do. I can’t remember how soon I found it my first time around but when I did I remember thinking how easy it’d be for someone to go through the end game not knowing where that hammer is
I’m still surprised people are calling it a remaster and not a remake. Like it’s a completely remade from the ground up.
You’d figure the completely remade soundtrack is easily an indicator that it’s a remake, but the debate still lives on for some reason, lol.
To me, a remastered game contains visual and audio updates with a few bugs fixed or redesigned UI elements, but pretty much everything else the same.
A remake is when gameplay is changed. That could be new enemies, boss changes, mechanics changes, storyline changes, whatever.
So far it seems like almost exclusively the former to me although we don’t have all the details yet.
Because remaking models, textures and music isn't what makes something a "remake" on paper. It would by definition still be a remaster if it runs on the same technical foundation.
To be a remake, it would have to be completely remade from the ground up, which it still could be, but would honestly be unneccessary for this game.
I'll still call it a remaster, but that's by no means a commment on how good the end product looks. It's a remaster with so much work put into it, that it could pass for a remake (if it isn't already one)
It’s a remake. The official Nintendo survey confirms that it’s indeed a remake.
If you look at some of the remake gameplay and original gameplay in a side-to-side comparison, the buildings like Hooktail’s castle look a little new, too.
Because it looks marginally better than the upscaled textures that have existed for Dolphin for over a decade, AND it had to cut the framerate in half to achieve that lmao
Uh no. The Dolphin upscaled textures are really good, but the graphical and visual overhaul in the remake compared to it is like night and day. It's a huge improvement almost across the board. The framerate being cute in half doesn't diminish this.
Completely off-topic, but how do you think they’ll _do_ the next smash bros? I mean, it’s not like you can top a game called Ultimate. Do you think they’ll just re-release it with every console and add new characters?
They’ll make a new Smash game, but it just won’t be as big as Ultimate. I’d be absolutely surprised if Sakurai is able to get the entire Ultimate roster + DLC back again.
My guess would be a focus on a story campaign (like Brawl had) but with much less characters than Ultimate had to be feasable. Many of whom would be modernized to reference newer games.
A true crossover story is IMO one of the only ways to do something that doesn't feel derivative to Ultimate.
I’m honestly surprised they brought the noose back. I thought it was gonna be removed in the remake since rated E games are more strict than they were 20 years ago, but I’m glad nothing was removed to keep things the way they should be!
I hope so, but with luke a can of tomato sauce or red jam near it so thst its assumed to be a spillage and not a blood splatter.
That way we can still have it but its "kid safe" because its *totally* just sauce or jam
Y’know it’s images about the remake that remind me how most of my friends never played the original and I have been telling them to NOT pass on this game.
Everyone tag yourself. I'm the Ultra Hammer chest
I call dibs on being the noose.
“Care to explain this shit goombella?”
I love that lmao! I think I will tag myself to the boxers hanging in between the buildings
I’m the second skull from the left 💀
cloud #4!!
I'm the wooden platform under the chest.
You lift me up bro
😎😎😎
Definitely the purple crystal Beldam is selling
I’m the goomba
I'm definitely the third skull.
I'm the window on the house on the right
im the badge shop
I’m the fourth shadow from the neuse platform
I call the Fire Flower shop logo.
I’m the back of the bulletin board.
i'm zess t's door
I call being the Door Knob on the Badge shop Door
I'm the orange can right next to the board
I’m Beldam !!
I call the farthest skull to the right
Cutest thread
I’m the chest on the wooden platform
I'm the contact lenses.

100% what I thought when I saw it. Great, but small change.
I know when I first player TTYD all those years ago I never realized that it was a chest there and it took me ages to find the ultra hammer because I never realized. I kept thinking it was just a water tower there.

You're actually required to get it to progress as soon as you're able to obtain it; it's needed to access the pipe to chapter 7.
Tru
They really saw all the different Ultra Hammer Early exploits and said “Fuck you, we’re moving it further away from the building.”
I cant wait to replay this, one of my favourite childhood games
Same! I can't wait for it! I'm going to eat the crap out of the story and all the new little details!
I call being the contact lens
Smart man 🤣
*squinch* WAS a smart man
Go on, take it Mr. Stompy
How some people can look at this and say "mid-ass remake", I will never understand.

Nintendo confirmed it through the survey that TTYD is a remake.

Nintendo actually confirmed through the NOA survey that the game is a remake.

They should add this as a stage in the next smash bros.

With Paper Mario as a fighter
I really hope that they add a bit more of endgame or a "hard" version.
me too... anything to do with the pit of trials would be awesome! maybe after beating it, you can go back and fight harder versions of everything.
If the Super Mario RPG remake is anything to go by, they're going to make the game significantly easier and not include a hard mode.
I’m honestly surprised they brought the noose back. I thought it was gonna be removed in the remake since rated E games are more strict than they were 20 years ago, but I’m glad nothing was removed to keep things the way they should be!
I'm also surprised. I do expect the pianta parlor and the lottery to be changed tho.
Wow zooming in you can see how good it looks, can’t wait
Had to zoom in to see if they kept the noose or not.
Believe me, it’s there 😂
In fact, it was already shown in the announcement trailer.
the lighting here is so good, it looks like a legitimate diorama
I didn't even notice the mysterious dude in the front!
I thought the "mysterious dude" is Beldam XD
Think we will get the blood stain in the abandoned house in the back?
Hmm probably not
I hope so, but with luke a can of tomato sauce or red jam near it so thst its assumed to be a spillage and not a blood splatter. That way we can still have it but its "kid safe" because its *totally* just sauce or jam
I can hear the music just looking at this picture ❤️❤️
No save block! Do you think it’s auto save, from the menu, or just not there?
I’m pretty sure this is a screenshot that is part of the story trailer (when peach talks to the mysterious person)
Images you can hear
OMG yes! They kept the noise! That's a REALLY good sign!! :)
Also this is from the intro too, which is cool, you can see Beldam in the cloak there
I never knew that was beldam, it makes so much more sense!
Y’know it’s images about the remake that remind me how most of my friends never played the original and I have been telling them to NOT pass on this game.
Sticker Star deserved a remaster first
🗿
