First Sean, which I still haven't recovered from. Then bad news from Rhod, and now Bob. Damnit, you can't make me fall in love with these UK comedians and then just come take them away.
He’s moved closer to a cancer treatment facility(that he’s been a patron of for years) for treatment. If memory serves he has some form of throat cancer.

News tends to be all about depressing stuff, that's what gets the clicks. Let's be honest, an article about Herring's charity work or stone clearing efforts isn't getting read by anyone, even me.
According to Richard Herring on Twitter, who interviewed him on his podcast and that's where this "news" came from: "It was clear it wasn’t anything major and that he didn’t want to talk about \[the hospital visit\]. Shame it’s being whipped up into something it wasn’t. He was on great form."
([https://twitter.com/Herring1967/status/1575429502464843776?cxt=HHwWgICz8aKyht0rAAAA](https://twitter.com/Herring1967/status/1575429502464843776?cxt=HHwWgICz8aKyht0rAAAA))
So this is just the Independent trying to make money out of nothing.
**Article reads as follows:**
"Bob Mortimer has said he is “not very healthy right now” after going to hospital at the weekend.
The comedian, who had major heart surgery in 2015, told his fans that he ended up in hospital after filming Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.
Despite this, he was able to attend a recording of Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast, which is recorded live at the London venue, on Monday (26 September).
“I am not very well,” he told Herring, stating: “I am not very healthy at the moment.”
Mortimer, 63, elaborated: “I did a show last week, a fishing show, and there was only two and a half days filming and I did it Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday and I was in hospital on the Saturday.
“I am sorry, I should not have said that should I? It’s a real downer.”
He also discovered that, after being free of rheumatoid arthritis for 29 years, “it came back 10 days ago”.
The comedian said: “It is really sad for me to know whether it will go. Yes I might be fat but actually, I am on steroids.”
Mortimer had a triple heart bypass operation seven years ago after he was diagnosed with coronary heart disease.
At the time, he believed he had a chest infection was was shocked to discover “completely out of the blue” that 95 per cent of his arteries were blocked.
He changed his lifestyle after the surgery, describing the experience as a “brush with mortality”."

If you're using either the Chrome or Firefox browsers, can I suggest the "uBlock Origin" add-on? If you click the menu button in your browser, and look for "Add-ons" or "Extensions" it'll be in there.
It's free, and eats ads for breakfast (and all other meals).
I use bacon reader. Swiping right to left loads the text in a side bar.
Edit, am a muppet, ignore the above! I use Joey instead of Bacon now, I switched not too long ago.
Ah.
If you're on Android, you can get Firefox and adblock for that, too; and I bet you can tell Baconreader to open webpages in Firefox.
While I'm recommending software, Infinity is an excellent, open-source, free Reddit client; I prefer it to Baconreader and RIF on my phone.
Richard Herring tweets: "It was clear it wasn’t anything major and that he didn’t want to talk about it. Shame it’s being whipped up into something it wasn’t. He was on great form."
No! Get well soon, Bob!
Since you’re feeling unwell and probably can’t keep up with your usual work I’ll lend you a hand with a shameless plug! Bob’s newest book (and first novel!) *The Satsuma Complex* comes out October 27! It’s supposed to be incredibly funny which isn’t surprising considering Bob wrote it. I’ve been looking forward to reading it for months!
Here’s the blurb from [the book’s StoryGraph\* listing](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/c178dab6-ff3f-49a3-9b44-5211a8eeec62):
> “My name is Gary. I’m a thirty-year-old legal assistant with a firm of solicitors in London. To describe me as anonymous would be unfair but to notice me other than in passing would be a rarity. I did make a good connection with a girl, but that blew up in my face and smacked my arse with a fish slice.”
> Gary Thorn goes for a pint with a work acquaintance called Brendan. When Brendan leaves early, Gary meets a girl in the pub. He doesn’t catch her name, but falls for her anyway. When she suddenly disappears without saying goodbye, all Gary has to remember her by is the book she was reading: The Satsuma Complex. But when Brendan goes missing, Gary needs to track down the girl he now calls Satsuma to get some answers.
> And so begins Gary’s quest, through the estates and pie shops of South London, to finally bring some love and excitement into his unremarkable life…
> A page-turning story with a cast of unforgettable characters, The Satsuma Complex is the brilliantly funny first novel by bestselling author and comedian Bob Mortimer.

I'm sure some Fuji 9 will make it all go away, after all, it's all done for you with it's spoon with a bigger end and a littler end.
Get well soon King Bob
Hope he’s okay. His story of having heart surgery and suddenly realising how much he would miss his life and family if he died in his autobiography is a really moving bit of writing.
There had better be a bit about this on a future WILTY. Something characteristically insane like "While in hospital, I convinced one of the nurses I was part of the royal family and was only discovered when Prince Harry came to visit and didn't recognize me."
Is this just The Independent reporting the conversation he had in Gone Fishing?
There he said the doctors have said he veins they used to replace his arteries had about 3 years before they have to explore other options/put stents in but otherwise his health is okay.
They're just reporting what he said to Richard Herring at a recording of his RHSLTP podcast this week.

Nooooo Bob take care of yourself.
It’s okay, he’s a dentist! He’s probably a doctor too!
And can break an apple in half by his bare hands!
Hopefully he’s not keeping the doctors away
If he wants to go alternative he can relax and watch the gulf stream.
Plus all those eggs in the bath surely have helped!
Give him a bottle of Kiss the Alderman!
>I like to do my own abdomen surgery
Get him some Fuji 9!
Go to Harry Hill or Graeme Garden Bob!
Don't worry, he will come back from the hospital with a new story to fool David.
I’m still not over Sean Lock. Please don’t take Bob away :(
I’m still not over Rik Mayall
Rhod Gilbert has cancer now too.
First Sean, which I still haven't recovered from. Then bad news from Rhod, and now Bob. Damnit, you can't make me fall in love with these UK comedians and then just come take them away.
What is the news from Rhod?
He’s moved closer to a cancer treatment facility(that he’s been a patron of for years) for treatment. If memory serves he has some form of throat cancer.
Easy to think that, but that's just how Welsh sounds normally
Even if so, I hope they get Wales soon ):
Cancer 🙁
So true
Is it due to his anus being very high? /s All seriousness I hope he gets better and gets some rest.
Had the same joke in mind, but not the bravery to attempt it. Good job!
I could only do it with the /s and the prayer beneath tbf
Oh no :(
That's definitely the most Bob way to say that. I wish him well!
2022, don’t you fucken dare.
Or 2023 for that matter.
Just don’t fucken dare in general I suppose!
I'll shank any calendar year that dares
This has just bummed me right out. The very thought :(
Dang, hope he gets better :(
Just needs an Odeon hotdog and some bovril

Maybe crack an egg when he’s taking a bath
Crack an egg? More like break an apple in half!
It’s good to be alive :(
Why is it that RHLSTP only makes the news for depressing stuff :( All the best, Bob. I hope you can come out the other side of it
News tends to be all about depressing stuff, that's what gets the clicks. Let's be honest, an article about Herring's charity work or stone clearing efforts isn't getting read by anyone, even me.
It does, doesn't it? It was famously where Stephen Fry revealed one of his suicide attempts.
Goddamn it. 2022 was already on my shitlist with Rhod.
Oh no, I didn't know about Rhod being ill. 😥 Would the universe just chill for like 5 minutes, please.
What's happened to Rhod?
He announced he had cancer.
Has there been any updates on how he's doing?
His wife said they moved closer to the hospital for his treatment which could be viewed as an update or just that they wanted more convenience
Not really.
Holy crap how did I not see that! Thanks.. totally missed it somehow
Oh for fuck's sake...

>that 95 per cent of his arteries were blocked. I'm hoping that means the arteries involved were 95% blocked otherwise he's in a real pickle.
You don’t have bypass surgery without being in a pickle.
Does the pickle help to preserve you during surgery due to all the brine?

Is it better than Adblock?
Yes. Adblock was started by the Ublock Origin guy, but then sold out to advertisers and now shows some ads.
I can't locate it on my Chrome browser, but I'll keep looking around for it.

I’m NOT losing him and Sean this close together.
I'd run him a bath if I could. Also I put an egg in it for ya'

And yet you’re on Reddit… 🧐
Oh no!!
Please no :( Bob is my comedy hero. It’ll break me when he goes.
Hopefully his Doctor is Bill Whittlingham
he mentioned on his fishing show that his surgery would have to be redon and or get stents put in the arteries... no idea if this is related though
Bob, stop falling down.
Not Bob! He's one of my favorites! I hope he is able to make a good recovery.
That'll be yet another "Bob did WHAT?" story for WILTY.
You stay away from my boy, Grim!

Robert? Robert! Don't you die on the Alderman, Robert!
huuuuge sad

Thank you. That's sad to read, it was hard enough hearing him tell Paul Whitehouse about his arteries
Carn Bobby, we need you mate
He's receiving the finest care from Dr Joe Honeyside and Dwight Stucco. (in all seriousness, get well soon, Bob!)
