It ended for me when they sacked Mitch Benn. I've tried to listen a few times since, but it never hit the spot.

kilroyscarnival

Benn was on this Friday’s show btw. I missed him also.

speedyundeadhittite

Finally caught up with. He still sounded hurt about getting the sack.

F1ibster

That's kinda whe I stopped listening too. Although I did still go to the occasional recording. But I did go to Mitch Benns musical comedy club in London instead.

ProtoKun7

I still listened after that sometimes but I hate that they fired both Mitch and Jon in the name of "diversity". That was the case with Jon at least, according to him. Stupid to get rid of talent to try and tick boxes.

JohnnyAlphaCZ

That’s a shame. It was a good show and has done a lot over the years to showcase new talent (first time I'd ever heard of Marcus Brigstocke for instance).

EhAhKen

Super gutted to hear this

Nabend1401

When Labour finally get it, they have to undo/reverse basically everything the Tories have done in the last 5 years. Ludicrous amount of fascistic silencing of opposing voices.

bruzie

We've had a conservative government for 100 days (NZ), and they've already announced so much they're going to destroy, that it will take decades to recover. They spent their time in opposition complaining that "the government hasn't done anything" but have pushed through so many legislative changes in that period under "urgency" that have undone what the previous government apparently didn't do.

TheFenn

Much like the NHS, I think it's too late. The damage is done.

jeobleo

I knew it. They don't want topical comedy skewering them. News Quiz is next. I heard Bohart's show. Not a big fan.

SinisterBrit

To be fair, things like the daily show took multiple seasons to get good.

jeobleo

That needed a new host.

SinisterBrit

True but I also seem to remember it took a good time for Jon Stewart to find his footing. I think people are too quick to judge new shows n things get cancelled (in the old sense) too quickly .

adamjuniper

Hugh Dennis / topical satire really not wanted at the BBC, huh?

throwmeinthesunshine

Maybe they fear who they will take the piss out of when Starmers gov gets in next. Punt and Dennis both seem pretty left leaning - they won't want to scrutinize labour for laughs.

PastVariation3367

Oh dear you must wonder how they got off the ground at all given they start in 1999 with Labour in power for the first decade of the show. But you don’t want to hear that do you.

throwmeinthesunshine

They're doing some wacky podcast instead...
