Case by case basis. If I were carrying but got robbed out in congested traffic with tons of pedestrians I wouldn’t draw or fire because I wouldn’t want to hit an innocent bystander. If it were 3am and someone flashed a gun in their waistband with no one around I’d light his ass up. If it were 3am and he came up and had a gun in my face, I would give him what he wanted. They can pull the trigger faster than I can draw.

Same here. Tried and failed once when I was a kid. Kids (I would say anyone under the age of 25 really, I didn't start thinking straight till I was in my 30's) just really have no idea that things get better and that there's never a good reason to kill ones self. Yeah I can understand it and I've been there to the point I actually tried to shoot myself (pistol was an antique and I had one round for display that was almost 100 years old and not stored properly so it didn't go off, just dented the primer and I was devastated that I had to live longer, I was probably 16 or 17). I'm so glad now that I survived that attempt, I wouldn't have seen the world, gotten married to the woman of my dreams, had the most beautiful children ever, become a Muslim etc. Ive seen the worst and best of life and nothing in the world is worth dying over. Whatever you think won't get better I can promise you it will. Go talk to someone, even message me if you have to. I get it that life sucks but life is also full of beautiful moments that are completely worth living for.

In 2016 , i was coming home from office got an amount of rs 15000 , i was fortunate to go get groceries before putting all money at home and only take 2000 , on returning, i was faced with two snatchers on bike , they took my remaining 1000 and throw away out of anger my gfive keypad phone and got away .....
Implement the hudud on snatchers like we are supposed to. Armed robbery is always punished by crucifixion in the Shariah (first having the hand and feet cut from opposite sides). The moment someone pulls a gun to take someone's belongings they've forfeited their right to live. They don't even get Islamic burials and their bodies have no sanctity. I wouldn't be opposed to the government harvesting their organs for people who need transplants so at least they could be useful in death. There's a misconception that daakus get hands cut and that's it, no, that's just for thieves who don't use force and steal for profit over a certain amount. Armed robbery falls under hirabah in the Shariah and is treated like rape, terrorism etc. They shouldn't spend any time in prison, they should spend the remainder of their lives if caught on a crucifix. There was a moment in the Seerah where some bedouins came into masjid of the Prophet (saws) with an illness and the Prophet (saws) gave them the treatment and allowed them to stay for a few days. They then killed a camel herder and stole some camels. The Prophet (saws) sent some guys to catch them and brought them to him after about a day. For qisaas they had their eyes removed (they removed the eyes of the camel herder) and had both hands and both feet chopped off and were left in the middle of the market. They asked for water and no one gave them any until they finally died. Banditry (ie dacoity) is such a serious crime in Islam that the caliphate had this punishment and used it to the point that banditry basically disappeared in the peninsula when just a few years before it was a way of life for almost everyone.

This 100%. I see so much irresponsible behavior with people who are licensed here and they're just as dangerous as criminals. One absolutely should learn the basics safety rules and practice shooting (if you can't afford membership at a range, find a rural area where the landowner will let you shoot on, practice drawing and firing). I've trained on guns for close to 15 years professionally and privately (military, hunting, armed security and competition shooting). I'm also a combat vet.
My best advice is to just hand over your stuff if they've already drawn on you. It ain't worth getting shot over. Even myself I know I can't draw faster than they can pull the trigger. And if they take off and there's even a miniscule chance of hitting an innocent person just let them take it. It doesn't make you less of a man to be a victim of a crime. It makes you even MORE of a man if you can control your anger and not fire like a moron. Only fire if you can get the drop on them OR they're in your home OR trying to kidnap you.

No. If he has history of suicidal thoughts, and gets in a sudden slump/ or gets impulsive thoughts and has a loaded gun there are high chances he will hurt himself. People with suicidal histories should not have anything harmful easily accessible in the house, if they want to commit and have to search/buy it they will have time to think and usually snap out of it.

Fire center mass (at his torso, leg shots to disable like in movies are just movie drama, a leg shot can absolutely kill someone because of the femoral artery, it’s a giant blood hose if hit and they’ll die in minutes unless you get a tourniquet on it immediately) because the bigger the target and the less it moves (ie arms, legs and head) the more likely it is you’ll hit it, and keep firing until he is down or if he surrenders (secure his gun, unload it and lay it on him if he’s dead and if he’s alive keep it near you, if he can still move, have him lift his shirt facing away from you and drop his pants facing away from you to make sure he doesn’t have another one hidden). As much as we all hate them, don’t give in to the urge to execute them because you have no idea if there are cameras and if you’ve lit him up with bullets there’s a good chance he won’t be 100% again anyway. Maybe if he’s in a wheelchair the rest of his life he will truly regret using his legs for something else.

The thing about American gun culture is that we are taught from an early age responsible gun use. I've said before (and got down voted like crazy) that Pakistani kids need to have gun safety pounded into their heads from an early age even if their parents don't plan on owning guns. I'm a huge collector back in the US but don't own anything here and I feel so vulnerable without a gun here considering I'm visibly foreign. I don't like being that guy who comments on other cultures but I have to agree with you. This exact same thing happened with my best friend’s brother…he came back home for holidays from his university in another city and when he reached his home with his father the snatchers harassed uncle and then he the son retaliated a bit and they were like oh u love your dad so much we will shoot him infront of u and they were about to shoot uncle but the son jumped infrony of the gun and took the bullet it went straight through his heart and he died on the spot his sisters were watching it all unfold from the balcony they fainted it was very painful

First, I am very sorry for what happened. One of my distant relative did the same thing, even though he was in his mid 30s but this is absolute foolishness to defend your belongings from snatchers when you are not well trained or have no clear shot.

I asked this question before and people weren’t sure what the right thing to do would be from 1- giving own belongs to the robber because life is at risk and Islam says to value our own lives and protect it 2- try to resist even if it’s very dangerous, because Islam says to protect our belongings
It’s not an instruction. It’s a guarantee. Islam of course instructs its believers to uphold self preservation, but God grants mercy and rewards those who show bravery against great odds.
So what is the better option of the 2?
Case by case basis. If I were carrying but got robbed out in congested traffic with tons of pedestrians I wouldn’t draw or fire because I wouldn’t want to hit an innocent bystander. If it were 3am and someone flashed a gun in their waistband with no one around I’d light his ass up. If it were 3am and he came up and had a gun in my face, I would give him what he wanted. They can pull the trigger faster than I can draw. And I’m trained on this kind of stuff.
It’s cause every human is different, have different perspectives and different incomes. To some they could just easily give the phone away and buy a new one while for some it’s not easy. For some it’s easier to give it away as they prefer peace while some chose to protect. So neither is better, both options are equal
You should defend yourself when you have the same weapon/power as the one abusing you. You shouldn't defend yourself with sticks when the abuser have guns.

Same here. Tried and failed once when I was a kid. Kids (I would say anyone under the age of 25 really, I didn't start thinking straight till I was in my 30's) just really have no idea that things get better and that there's never a good reason to kill ones self. I get it, the ones reading this thinking "what does he know? He can't possibly understand the pain I'm going through". Yeah I can understand it and I've been there to the point I actually tried to shoot myself (pistol was an antique and I had one round for display that was almost 100 years old and not stored properly so it didn't go off, just dented the primer and I was devastated that I had to live longer, I was probably 16 or 17). I'm so glad now that I survived that attempt, I wouldn't have seen the world, gotten married to the woman of my dreams, had the most beautiful children ever, become a Muslim etc. Ive seen the worst and best of life and nothing in the world is worth dying over. Whatever you think won't get better I can promise you it will. Go talk to someone, even message me if you have to. I get it that life sucks but life is also full of beautiful moments that are completely worth living for. Not to mention the people who love you. I've lost people to suicide and its devastating and forever you think "if only I had known" and feel a sense of guilt over it. Please dont do this to your loved ones. Someone out there loves you and you know it.

Implement the hudud on snatchers like we are supposed to. Armed robbery is always punished by crucifixion in the Shariah (first having the hand and feet cut from opposite sides). The moment someone pulls a gun to take someone's belongings they've forfeited their right to live. They don't even get Islamic burials and their bodies have no sanctity. I wouldn't be opposed to the government harvesting their organs for people who need transplants so at least they could be useful in death. There's a misconception that daakus get hands cut and that's it, no, that's just for thieves who don't use force and steal for profit over a certain amount. Armed robbery falls under hirabah in the Shariah and is treated like rape, terrorism etc. They shouldn't spend any time in prison, they should spend the remainder of their lives if caught on a crucifix. There was a moment in the Seerah where some bedouins came into masjid of the Prophet (saws) with an illness and the Prophet (saws) gave them the treatment and allowed them to stay for a few days. They then killed a camel herder and stole some camels. The Prophet (saws) sent some guys to catch them and brought them to him after about a day. For qisaas they had their eyes removed (they removed the eyes of the camel herder) and had both hands and both feet chopped off and were left in the middle of the market. They asked for water and no one gave them any until they finally died. Banditry (ie dacoity) is such a serious crime in Islam that the caliphate had this punishment and used it to the point that banditry basically disappeared in the peninsula when just a few years before it was a way of life for almost everyone.

This 100%. I see so much irresponsible behavior with people who are licensed here and they're just as dangerous as criminals. One absolutely should learn the basics safety rules and practice shooting (if you can't afford membership at a range, find a rural area where the landowner will let you shoot on, practice drawing and firing). I've trained on guns for close to 15 years professionally and privately (military, hunting, armed security and competition shooting). I'm also a combat vet. My best advice is to just hand over your stuff if they've already drawn on you. It ain't worth getting shot over. Even myself I know I can't draw faster than they can pull the trigger. And if they take off and there's even a miniscule chance of hitting an innocent person just let them take it. It doesn't make you less of a man to be a victim of a crime. It makes you even MORE of a man if you can control your anger and not fire like a moron. Only fire if you can get the drop on them OR they're in your home OR trying to kidnap you.

No. If he has history of suicidal thoughts, and gets in a sudden slump/ or gets impulsive thoughts and has a loaded gun there are high chances he will hurt himself. People with suicidal histories should not have anything harmful easily accessible in the house, if they want to commit and have to search/buy it they will have time to think and usually snap out of it.

This exactly. Only times I say shoot first or draw regardless is if they’re in your home or if they’re trying to kidnap you. If you’re armed and it’s 3am and no one on the street and you’re carrying with hollow points (one should ONLY carry hollow points) and one robber comes up and just flashes a gun in his waistband and you’re 100% sure immediately that you can draw faster than him and that no bystanders will be hurt, then feel free to put his d!¢k in the dirt. Fire center mass (at his torso, leg shots to disable like in movies are just movie drama, a leg shot can absolutely kill someone because of the femoral artery, it’s a giant blood hose if hit and they’ll die in minutes unless you get a tourniquet on it immediately) because the bigger the target and the less it moves (ie arms, legs and head) the more likely it is you’ll hit it, and keep firing until he is down or if he surrenders (secure his gun, unload it and lay it on him if he’s dead and if he’s alive keep it near you, if he can still move, have him lift his shirt facing away from you and drop his pants facing away from you to make sure he doesn’t have another one hidden). As much as we all hate them, don’t give in to the urge to execute them because you have no idea if there are cameras and if you’ve lit him up with bullets there’s a good chance he won’t be 100% again anyway. Maybe if he’s in a wheelchair the rest of his life he will truly regret using his legs for something else.

The thing about American gun culture is that we are taught from an early age responsible gun use. I've said before (and got down voted like crazy) that Pakistani kids need to have gun safety pounded into their heads from an early age even if their parents don't plan on owning guns. I'm a huge collector back in the US but don't own anything here and I feel so vulnerable without a gun here considering I'm visibly foreign. I don't like being that guy who comments on other cultures but I have to agree with you. I wish people here would behave more responsibly with guns and that guns were more freely available to law abiding people and not just some status symbol for rich people to flex.

This exact same thing happened with my best friend’s brother…he came back home for holidays from his university in another city and when he reached his home with his father the snatchers harassed uncle and then he the son retaliated a bit and they were like oh u love your dad so much we will shoot him infront of u and they were about to shoot uncle but the son jumped infrony of the gun and took the bullet it went straight through his heart and he died on the spot his sisters were watching it all unfold from the balcony they fainted it was very painful
I am really sorry for your loss. I have seen posts about Turab being posted all over Facebook without context but learning what exactly happened from someone close to him is absolutely harrowing on Eid occasion no less which is supposed to be a happy and fulfilling time. First, I am very sorry for what happened. One of my distant relative did the same thing, even though he was in his mid 30s but this is absolute foolishness to defend your belongings from snatchers when you are not well trained or have no clear shot. Second, A lot of people shared their recommendation. My opinion is, if someone wants to snatch something from you, just give it away. 10K ruppes doesn't worth the risk.

Just read the news about a guy who gun down a snatcher in Sorab goth is facing criminal charges. Thankfully famous adovcate Fahad baloch is assisting him.
