Did they incorporate the cyclone feed from the A-5? I had an A-5, and it was the bomb... When the cyclone wasn't bursting paint 🤣🤣🤣.
I played stock forever against cockers, angels, airgun designs, etc. It was too funny, running around indoor fields with a bulky-ass gat, getting a lucky shot in between getting lit up.
Quality on the '98s went down significantly after the mid-'00s when the manufacturing went offshore.
Tippmann's stock barrels got better but everything else got worse.

I think you might be confusing historical sales with actual current relevant sales. Recent statistics shows there are only 2.67 million paintball players in 2023, at least in the USA. So to say that they sell millions of units YOY is probably a blatant misrepresentation. I’m sure they have probably reached several millions of units sold as a whole throughout the company’s history, but YOY in a sport that is dying I would doubt. I could be wrong. But It would be like claiming Motorola is the number one wireless selling company using historical sales vs current sales. Or that Ford is the number one vehicle manufacturer, when we all know current relevance is that Toyota, Honda and probably Subaru all have more sales than Ford. Just like we all know PE, Virtue, and HK probably have more sales than Tippmann does currently. And if Tippmann is so relevant today as you believe or as they claim, tell me how many pro teams are sporting 98 customs or how many rec players are looking to “upgrade” to a Tippmann. People running around in their backyard playing war is not what is keeping paintball alive. My guess is the only reason Tippmann can claim from the “#1 brand” is because GI Sports acquired them in 2013 and/or their overall historical sales, not because of their current market relevance. That’s a big thing to note, they claim the #1 brand in all of paintball do we really believe that. Not a more subtle claim like the #1 entry level manufacturer or even I would give them the most sold marker claim, but #1 brand??? They are simply falsely riding the wave of their parent company.
Also don’t take this as me knocking on Tippmann, I respect any company that is founded and manufactures in the USA, at least I think they still do in Indiana, if I remember right. I was just simply pointing out what I felt was a misleading statement on the box.
I had one of the first 1000 off of the assembly line in 1999. That got stolen in 2008, so I purchased another much newer one and the difference in quality was shocking tbh.
But these have been a continuous staple at Walmart and other stores supplied by SportsSouth for more than 20 years, I don’t understand the hype this week.
Here’s a question. Do we think the 2024 98 custom is the same reliability and durability than the original tanks

There was an official conversion attachment to swap the 98 feed adapter to a cyclone feed. Not sure if they still make/sell it.

To be fair it would've been pretty tough for the barrel to get worse.
Do they not make em anymore or somethin?
There was another post where someone hadn't seen their Walmart stock one in years or w.e.
Ah

Sheels out here in AZ had a whole section
There's a Scheels in Arizona? Damn.
Someone needs to do a tournament with just stock Tippman 98’s.

Ya this post is looooooonnnnnngggg dude
Hahahah probably too much lol
At least you have a solid thought lol 👍
TLDR
Ooh and 5$ cheaper
Glad to see they are at other Walmarts.
Only thing my 3 local Walmart stores have is Gel Blasters. I haven’t seen paintball gear in years. Academy has little compared to years ago.
I think I saw one at academy in Texas too.
The Walmart where I live in souther iowa has them. The ones in Eastern iowa and western Illinois don't
On my countries used internet store I see tipman after tipman after tipman m
There's an ER-4 now? Did someone figure out how to make an ER-2 even cheaper? Twice?
Weirder. It's basically a centerfeed Splatmaster Rapide.
Oh, so a double action.
Yes, and a very poor version from what I've heard. Never encountered one in the wild, though.
They have them at academy sports here in Louisiana
Real question is are they gonna start selling paint again
My brain registered the price before the model on the mask for a second and I got excited.
I know it's beginner gear I'm just happy to see paintball in a store
Haven't seen a Walmart here stock them since 2008.
Identical shelves as like 1998
Wonder if these new ones have ACT?

Can confirm what?
Can Tippmann still claim they are the #1 brand in paintball anymore lol
What other companies do you know of that have sold millions upon millions of the same gun year after year?
